The ins and outs of the inward-facing senses

During the day, Alexius gives the world of the outward-facing maximum attention. But when going to bed, he tones down his involvement in the world of the outward-facing senses. Thus, he often enters a state of not-knowing via the world of the inward-facing senses (Duality Hack #9.10

In a state of not-knowing, he has visual glimpses of Enlightenment, which seem to swirl around the tip of his nose. However, he does not see the nose or anything physical and is unaware of how long the glimpses last. It is probably less than half an hour because the brain falls into a coma if nobody reacts to its fantasy of a substantial world (see Duality Hack #9.10

A typical blissful night of not-knowing

Alexius goes to sleep with a sleep mask and earplugs to turn off the outward-facing senses. Then, the transparent sound of the empty breath (see Duality Hack #9.4) transports him into worlds of light. Their lucid universes unfold at an extreme speed, or maybe flowers open up in slow-mo until thoughts or feelings try to surface and sleep sets in. Then, going into a deeper sleep, the visions of lucid light are on and off. But when he wakes in the morning, celestial music replaces the lucid light.

Actually, that is a typical description from many years ago when the glimpses of Enlightenment were exciting journeys in enchanted worlds of light. Alexius was thrilled because, to some extent, he travelled in worlds he could recognise. But nowadays, Alexius is not looking for something observable. Instead, he is pulled in by abstract light swirling around a so-called black hole until becoming one bright light and the black hole so small that only his nothingness can pass it. That is neither exciting nor relaxing. It just is.

Blissful nights lighten up the days

As told, during the day, Alexius mainly experiences the world of the outward-facing senses. Thankfully, the distant memories of the previous night lighten up the world of the outward-facing senses. Therefore, sometimes, he hears the echo of oneness as a natural extension of the empty breath or vice versa. He may have visual glimpses of Enlightenment with his eyes open, regardless of where he is. And the immortal sweetness follows him throughout the day.

You do not know what Alexius writes because your brain edits it

Be aware that the above is how Alexius experiences the world of the inward-facing senses when the world of the outward-facing senses gets less attention. Your experience may differ – like most people describe the same cup of coffee differently. Regarding the Enlightenment of that which is One (see Duality Hack #10.1-8), his distant memories of not being someone are most likely selective.

In other words, the descriptions of the Enlightenment of that which is One and its glimpses are not absolute. Besides, you do not read what Alexius has written, but your brain’s translation with your interpretation on top. See Duality Hack #1.2.

Furthermore, his experience of the glimpses of Enlightenment is not constant. Some nights, he may not experience them. Instead, thoughts or emotions take over and bring him into the world of the outward-facing senses. No worries if it happens to you, too. Then, you see that thoughts and emotions have no power and are unnecessary when there is no need to be someone.

Anything upheld as specific ends tripping with the inward-facing senses

Maybe you fancy your previous travels in incredible worlds of lucid coloured light, so you want to repeat them. But that does not work because the glimpses are abstract and, therefore, always different.

In other words, you cannot be in the world of the inward-facing senses in a special way. Doing something to get something only works in a tangible world. Ergo, you can do something not to experience the world of the outward-facing senses – for example, putting on a sleeping mask when you go to bed.

The inward and outward-facing senses are equally unreal

Suppose you have the impression that the inward-facing senses are less deceptive than the outward ones. In that case, you have deceived yourself into believing you become better, higher or wiser when being within. But if that is your purpose, the inward-facing senses will cause you as much suffering as the outward ones.

Last but not least, it is best to forget all the descriptions in Alexius’ Duality Hacks because you can only remember them by interpreting them as something specific, which you cannot replicate in the abstractness of the inward-facing senses.
