The world we experience is a construction of insubstantial thoughts shaped to look like we see something substantial.

From Duality Hack #10.8 in Alexius’ Duality Hacks.
Inventing to see something in the dark
There are no streetlights outside Alexius’ home, so when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he sees nothing. Nevertheless, it is easy for Alexius to find the toilet in the dark. He has learned where not to go and to use things he touches as navigation points that seem to ‘light’ up the way.
However, it is imagined. Alexius cannot ‘see’ anything other than the way he has shaped it. Should he find a better way, it would be just another construction of thoughts because there is nothing to see but darkness.

What is thought up is make-believe
The way from Alexius’ bed to the toilet is similar to our way in a world defined by time and space. We believe in seeing something specific, interpreted to differ from something else. Hence, it is as if we are going somewhere. But, like in a dream, we are not going anywhere.
Whatever we see in a dream is a construction of thought we have learned to interpret as if we are somewhere else than in our bed. Without that conditioning, the dream does not hide reality. In short, we do not need to realise something to return to the reality of oneness, except that everything we believe in seeing is make-believe.

When we acknowledge that, the thought construction upholding an imagined world becomes meaningless, and we enter a state of not knowing (see Duality Hack #9.10). From there, we can return to the imagined world with the slate wiped clean, thus not mistaking it for reality – or we can welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One. Its light is not comparable to the sun or other artificial sources that seem to light up something in a world defined by time and space. The Enlightenment of that which is One has nothing to light up because there is no more than the formlessness of oneness.
The Enlightenment of that which is One
Momentarily entering the Enlightenment of that which is One is comparable to video calling it. There is so much light on the screen that you can neither see that nor something else. When the call is over, the screen again simulates things in a world defined by time and space. However, you know it is fake, so you do not feel confused. Instead, you have fun pretending to see something taking you somewhere, although going nowhere See Duality Hack #2.1-5. It is like in a dream, where you appear to go somewhere but remain in bed.
