From non-duality to duality and back (in the process of being updated)

Updated September 11, 2022

It is not possible to drink the water from the bottle in this pic, because the bottle is a simulation – but it is possible to imagine to drink the water. The imagination will never quench your thirst though.

It is impossible to drink from the bottles in this image because it is a simulation. Likewise, it is impossible to be fulfilled in a world where there seems to be more than one. It is simulated because there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THAT WHICH IS ONE
… is no different from the formlessness of that which is you. But as formlessness has no size, it is nothing. Yet, it is also everything because formlessness is endless. In other words, there is no more than the formlessness of oneness, also called non-duality.

Schräge Parallelen

Nothing in a world where there seems to be more than one is what is seems to be. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Since it takes more than one to see something, you have tricked yourself into beliving you are in a world where there seems to be more than one. You probably also have tricked yourself into seeing the red lines in this image as crokked, when, actually, all lines are straight, and it is the blue boxes that are offset.

WHAT IF THAT WHICH IS ONE …
… could be divided into more than one? It is impossible. Firstly, because it is formless. Secondly, its speed is infinitely fast. Hence there is no time and space to differentiate anything. Nevertheless, it seems possible to imagine slowing down its speed until it is so slow that there appear to be separated appearances in the distance.

The still photo of Scarlett Johansson in ‘Lucy’ is grabbed from the internet.

Think of the movie Lucy, where Luc Besson via Scarlett Johansson demonstrates that if you speed up time infinitely, any object in motion disappears – or in the context of this article, becomes one. A world where there seems to be more than one is a reverse example. A slowed-down movie of oneness, you could say.

One of these separated appearances in the distance is imagined to be you. But you and everything else are as flat as this article’s images because formlessness has no dimensions. However, when the formlessness of oneness is observed from different angles and distances, it appears to get smaller and bigger. Therefore, since it seems to exist in time and space, you conclude you are someone substantial in a tangible world.

Graphic by Clive Gifford. The book ‘Eye Benders: The Science of Seeing and Believing’ written by Clive Gifford explains, the brain sees movements that do not exist, and it also fabricates images to fill what it perceives as gaps in the world. Read more about that here.

In short, the experience of being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one comes from an imagined slowed-down version of oneness, layered on top of oneness to hide that there is no more than that which is One. Read more about that here. The purpose is to feel entertained by the illusion of more than one. See hack #4.2 The brains script and how to perceive it to feel happy. It is a bit like the excitement you get when AR (augmented reality) modifies the physical world and builds a layer on top of it, so a simulation of the physical world is mixed with the actual physical world.

You probably experience, that you see two differently sized orange circles in this pic, because that is what the part of the brain, that measures perspective and scale, will tell you. Due to the blue circles it appear as they are not the same size. But you are wrong. Each orange circle is the same size. You are also wrong, if you think persons are different, and that they are in a world of duality. It is an illusion. Everything is sizeless.

You probably experience two differently sized orange circles in this image because that is what the part of the brain that measures perspective and scale will tell. Due to the blue circles, it appears that the orange circles are not the same size. But you are mistaken. Each orange circle has the same size. You are also mistaken if you experience a world of different-sized objects. It is an illusion. That which is real is formless. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

When writing this article, the most well-known AR (augmented reality) example is Google glasses. A digital simulation of the physical world is mixed with the actual physical world via the internet. You can read about another kind of AR glasses, changing your appearance, in the article What is unreal, is right in front of you.

Since then, Pokémon Go has become the most well-known example of AR. But many people live in augmented reality not only when playing Pokémon Go. They look at their smartphone, where a layer of digital info flows on top of the physical world, while they hear music from cyberspace in one ear and listen to friends from the physical world with the other ear.

Integtating the body with an imagined god or superworld has been a longtime human fantasy. Imaginative fiction, transcendental meditation, aura-transformation and psychoactive drugs can be seen as early efforts to trick you into assuming, the body can be integrated with something immaterial. VR (virtual reality), as it is envisioned by Oculus Rift, may be able to fool you into beliving such a blend is real.

THAT WHICH IS ONE IS REPLACED BY MORE THAN ONE
The first step away from that which is One to a world where there seems to be more than one can be compared to AR (augmented reality), which is a mix of real and unreal. The second step can be compared to VR (virtual reality), where an illusion replaces reality. Yet, the delusion that seems to replace reality can only be experienced due to it.

In a virtual world everything seems possible. It feels very exciting, even though it is an illusion. What you get is nothing. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

»This (virtual reality) is a state where you are totally transported into another world and immersed in the digital interactions of the virtual environment you’ve entered … the feeling that you are truly visiting another space that is wholly distinct from what you can see and hear without the platform … a platform like Oculus Rift is an alternative to reality, supplying entirely new, virtual experiences: true VR.« From Wired.

Why do we choose to appear as somebody definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one when that which is we are is oneness. Because it seems exciting to be and have more than that which is One.

There is so much to experience In a world where there seems to be more than one. However, it comes with a price because such a world – contrary to that which is One – is built of contrasts, so you cannot have happiness without sadness, for example.

A person always find ways to deny or change appearances in the world that is judged to be wrong, so that it appears to better. But no matter how happy being better may seem to make you, you cannot escape its contrast, sadness, because happiness cannot be experienced without it. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

A person always finds ways to deny or change appearances that are judged wrong so that it seems to have become better. But no matter how happy it makes you feel, its contrast, sadness, cannot be escaped because happiness cannot be known without it. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

Most assume they can surpass this twofoldness and be in one state of mind by recollecting memories of oneness. But they have been changed by the desire for more than one, so they do not bring one state of mind. Thus many conclude there are levels of consciousness leading to oneness. But nothing leads to it. Besides, there is no oneness in a world where there seems to be more than one. Its reality is twofoldness – the interaction of opposing elements – is the reality. For example, you can only read this when white or something else opposing black contrasts the black letters. Read more about that here.

And you cannot exclude hate only to be in a singular state of love. Doing that results in imitated love because there is no love without hate. Therefore, since excluding hate makes you feel phoney, you try to make love purer by excluding selfishness to get unconditional love. But again, you get a feeling of being wrong – and on it goes.

You never feel good enough because your whole being is based on avoiding twofoldness to feel you are at one. However, there is no oneness in a world where there seems to be more than one. Such a world is based on the interaction of opposing elements. Going with them, you do not feel something is missing. Therefore, since someday, the need for more is gone, wherefore the belief in a world where there seems to be more than one does not seem to hide there is no more than that which is One. See hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

Following the duality flow to non-duality is a process. But if you welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One, it takes no time.

Alexius knows there is nothing to hope for because there is no more than that which is One, and it takes more than one to hope for something. Thus he has nothing to fear. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE UNDOES THE BELIEF IN MORE
One who is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is one knows that there is no more than oneness, wherefore a world where there seems to be more than one is fake. Nobody else knows it. What they believe to know is based on speculations about their existence in a world where there seems to be more than one. Thus it enhances the belief in being there instead of undoing it.

Believing that a world where there seems to be more than one is real is to be compared to sitting in a cinema, where you project yourself onto the world on the screen so that it appears to have an effect on you, thus experienced as real.

A world where there seems to be more than one can be compared to the movie roll in a cinema. Suddenly it breaks, wherefore there is nothing but bright white light on the screen. Read more about this metaphor here. This is the Enlightenment, which Alexius is to be compared to. It is not something that you see because it is the Enlightenment of that which is One, and it takes more than one to be aware of something.

When the movie roll is put together, and Alexius appears in the simulated world on the screen again, the Enlightenment of that which is One has not turned him into a wiser man or changed anything in the world. But he knows that the world is an illusion that can only be experienced due to oneness. More about that in hack #6.1 The Enlightenment of that which is One.

The animation is grabbed from the web.

If everything you see is perceived to be symbols of that which cannot be seen, namely the formlessness of that which is One, the apparent difference between happiness and sadness does not make a difference. Thus you enjoy them both. The animation is grabbed from Ello.

TO SEE SYMBOLS OF THAT WHICH IS ONE IN THAT WHICH IS NOT ONE
Even though you may have been told that a world where there seems to be more than one is an illusion, your conditioned belief in such a world compulsively makes you see more than one.

You can undo this belief in a laid-back way by perceiving what you see as symbols of that which is One. Actually, all of Alexius’ Duality Hacks, except the Enlightenment of that which is Oneundo the belief in being and having more than one over time while enjoying that belief.

That which is one cannot be known in a world where there seems to be more than one – neither anywhere else, as it takes more than one to be aware of something. So rather than pointing to that which is One, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings point out that there is no more than that which is one.

A SYMBOL OF ONENENESS TURNS THE MOMENT INTO A PERFECT MOMENT
If you perceive everything as symbols of oneness, there is no separation to hide that which is One when. But since you do probably do that little by little, and since you cannot get fragment of oneness, you get a taste of it. Therefore, every time you perceive something as a symbol of oneness you are pulled into the perfect moment.

If you have conditioned yourself within the concepts of living in the now, you may think a perfect moment is a point squeezed in between the past and the future. However, this idea of living in the now is based on exclusion, whereas a perfect moment is inclusive and therefore includes both the past and the future. A perfect moment may last a split second, or as long as a kiss lasts, or a daydream lasts. There are no rules but to be inclusive. Should you forget that, you just include your forgetfulness.

A perfect moment has no limitations, contrary to the popular idea of living in the now, which is something you forever can try to achieve but never obtain, as it is based on having to keep on excluding the past and the future.

A perfect moment can last a split second while you say »A ha,« – or it can last an hour while you have a daydream about tomorrow or the whole night being with your lover. It includes the past as well as the future as long as it is perceived as a symbol of oneness.

In a perfect moment, anger is not a disturbing feeling, pushed away into the dark. Instead, it is taken into the light, so the hidden memories of the past that seemed to have caused it is no more. Not by going back into the past to fix it, neither by denying it, but by including the pain and anger of the past as it is experienced in the present.

Any thought or feeling passing by is part of the totality that makes a perfect moment. It is not flawless like a music video, though. There are ups and downs, but they are comparable to the thrill of riding up and down on a roller coaster.

A perfect moment though is not a sensation like falling in love but rather the relief of not being exclusive, as that means problems vanish. This is not limited to the period called now.

If you have an expectation of a perfect moment, it will not be perfect until the expectation and its opposite – desperation – are included exactly as they appear to you. And as said in the previous articles, inclusion is not to exclude, so when desperation is not excluded in an attempt to enjoy the thrill of expectation, it is included.

Every moment is the perfect moment. Nothing is wrong or missing when it is perceived as a symbol of oneness.

There is no more than the formlessness of oneness since it is formless and therefore endless. Thus a world where there seems to be more than one is not real, regardless of how the moment appears to be. However, while you seem to be someone in a virtual world, it feels better to have a perfect moment.

To stop or to control thoughts is not the way to a perfect moment but numbness. The inclusion of confusion and uncertainty but most of all, the extreme speed of thoughts leads to a perfect moment. When everything is fast-moving, the mind does not have the time to divide everything into categories.

Well, anything that is devoid of what you have defined as meaningful leads to a perfect moment. Therefore, if you do not try to express yourself as someone significant, you will be meaningless, so every moment is perfect!

The idea about living in the now is, like most so-called spiritual ideas, based on exclusion. Hence the belief in separation is enhanced. In this case, the past and future are excluded to highlight a separate point in between them called now. On the other hand, a perfect moment is not based on separation. It includes any memory of the past and expectations of the future. It has no rules but to be inclusive, which you automatically are when not exclusive.

If you have an expectation of a perfect moment, it will not be perfect until the expectation and its opposite – desperation – are included exactly as they appear to you.

Life’s formlessness includes everything because formlessness is endless, so there is nothing but that. Since a perfect moment is inclusive, it confirms the formlessness of life, whereas living in the now denies it, as it excludes thoughts of the perceived future and past.

A perfect moment can last the whole hour you bravely make your way through bushes of thorny lianas, or the second you feel the horror of going through thorny bushes replaced with the relief of getting out, or the minutes you see a helicopter circling to find you. Or a whole day where you forget everything about the perfect moment and hate the rainforest.

Any thought or feeling passing by is part of the totality that makes a perfect moment. It is not flawless like a music video, though. There are ups and downs, but they are comparable to the thrill of riding up and down on a roller coaster.

THE WORLD IN A GAME IS VIRTUAL AND ONLY APPEARS TO EXIST WHEN YOU PLAY IT
A virtual reality game player is often nauseous because the body is tricked into believing it moves in the virtual world. But you are not there even though it feels like you are fighting for your life. Actually, you are sitting in a chair with your eyes covered by a set of goggles. An app fills it with a simulated world, and per your response, it seems to create feelings in you as if you are in the real world.

If you, in this description, replace the app with the brain, it becomes a description of appearing to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, where you always feel a bit off because you are not there. Nevertheless, it is possible to feel good while you experience more than one when you know it is an illusion. However, there is nothing real in a virtual world, so do not mistake this article for the truth, but merely a suggestion to take off the goggles simulating a world that is not there. Of course, this is a metaphor. That which is One is not covered by a simulated world but the belief that there is more than that which is One.

THAT WHICH IS ONE IS ONE
When you return to oneness, everything is the same. It is as if you have been there all the time, which you also have because there is no more than that which is One. Thus the phrase ‘when you return to oneness’ is a metaphor. In reality, you have never left it.

If you experience a flow of beauty, love, sex or colors in this pic totally depends on the perception you have fabricated of yourself as a person. But no matter what you perceive, if you include it all, the moment of watching this pic is perfect – nothing is wrong or missing. Consequently you need no more and therefore are ready for that which is one.

Whether you experience love, sex, or the beauty of a sunset in this image totally depends on how you have conditioned yourself. But no matter how you experience it, if it is perceived as a symbol of oneness, the moment of experiencing this image is perfect – nothing is wrong or missing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius, Gu∂ruång, and the Duality Hacks

Updated August 21, 2022

Alexius did not care about his appearance in this selfie, so there was no need to use thoughts to construct a specific look of a non-teacher. That does not mean that there were no thoughts at all. There probably was. Yet, there was no ‘I’ with a need to use them to construct a particular image. And though the picture may seem special due to its manipulation in Photoshop, there was no other intention behind it than to have fun. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

It is actually Alexius who, in the third person, writes Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings. Both he and I are grateful that you read them because even though you appear different from us, we do not perceive the difference to make a difference. That is not to say that we are one in the spirit. There is no spirituality in a world defined by time and space. Spirituality is formless, thus endless, so we and everything else conceivable is an illusion.

However, that means we are one in being fictitious. And since there is no fiction without reality, namely spirituality, we are also one in the sense that we all are a symbol of spirituality no matter what and where we appear to be. Check hack #2.1 Everything experienced is a symbol of oneness if you want to read more about perceiving all experiences as a symbol of spirituality.

In 1972 Alexius bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One. However, he realised it could not be shared. Thus he refrained from that until meeting his astral friend Gu∂ruång* in 2004. But it was not until he hardly survived a trip deep into the rainforest that Gu∂ruång told him to tell the world his story about the Enlightenment of that which is One.

GU∂RUÅNG DIRECTS ALEXIUS’ HAND
Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings come to him as ethereal harmonies. And it is not before he hums along with them that
words about hacking the belief in duality rapidly and unorganised float into his computer.

That which is One has only one word. But it can neither be said nor heard because that requires more than One.

When Alexius asks the source of the ethereal harmonies, which he calls Gu∂ruång, if a specific hack is finished, there is no answer. That could be because it takes more than one to reply, and there is no more than that which is One, so any statement is fake. Indeed, this is why the words making up Alexius’ Duality Hacks are meaningless. Nonetheless, if you get that, they have fulfilled their purpose: to expose there is nothing in a world of duality.

But sometimes, when Alexius’ humming does not result in an effortless flow of words, he goes on writing using phrases from his default vocabulary. It is like when Alexius speaks Spanish, which is not his native language. Whenever he is out of Spanish words, he tries English ones, hoping they are similar. They often are, but at times they are off. Maybe that is why he at present spends time adjusting Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, to ensure all words are in alignment with the undoing of the belief in duality.

Alexius every now and then forgets to remember to exist as someone. Thus nothing bids welcome ‘the Enlightenment of that which is One.’ However, since he returns from it as something he is not ‘the Enlightenment of that which is One’ but one who is to be compared to it.* Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius has not realised oneness, neither has anybody else because it takes more than one to accomplish something. For the same reason, although he has bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One,* he is not enlightened.

Nevertheless, he has vague memories of forgetting what and where he appears to be, so nothing prevents a light brighter than anything to undo the experience of ever having appeared as someone. Hence he does not sees the light is absorbed by a black hole with no beginning and end, and, therefore, no definitive shape to hide there is nothing but the formlessness of oneness. Here you can read about the ins and out of a black hole.

Consequentlyy, he is neither in the formlessness of oneness nor anywhere else. Yet he appears to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one who is compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One.*

When the special self sees similarities between new age teachings and Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, it is wishful thinking. New Age philosophy is based on the idea that what you believe in being can be improved. In contrast, the foundation for Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings is that whatever you believe in being is an illusion. Consequently, there is nothing to transform. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Many people try to put words together about duality and non-duality. But since most of them have not bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One,* they imagine non-duality can be realised in a world of duality. However, this is a denial of non-duality because it is formless, thus endless, wherefore there is no duality.

This also applies if their words are based on glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One because glimpses, just like movie trailers, are flashes of the whole but nothing like it. See The Enlightenment of that which is One and glimpses of it.

Nevertheless, they seem to believe that a glimpse of the Enlightenment of that which is One* and their interpretation of it combined with secondhand knowledge from ancient scriptures will put non-duality into effect in a world of duality. However, since it takes more than one to manifest something, what they get is not oneness but more than One. Furthermore, since it also takes more than one to understand something and their teaching is based on realisation, they enhance the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is One.

Since it takes more than one to be conscious of something, everything you experience is make-believe. This includes the idea that the brain or something else makes the experiences and that someone is aware of them. Nevertheless, if you go with the duality flow, this illusion ends while you enjoy experiencing it. See hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

Fortunately, the application of Alexius’ Duality Hacks requires no understanding or effort. On the contrary, they apply themselves the more you read about them if you do not try to understand. In other words, the less you know, the more the belief in duality is undone.

Years ago, Alexius and his sons had much fun playing different board games. Following the flow of the games, they naturally came to an end. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

ALEXIUS BECOMES AN ENLIGHTENED NON-TEACHER:
Following the present stream of thoughts to its end, what you appear to be is going to finish, to make place for something new. It may be a significant change, maybe the end of the body, but mostly it is a minor modification. Alexius was remodelled when he followed the stream of thoughts down the mountain deep into an ancient forest where he was stuck without food and water for two days. After being wired up by a helicopter and spending more than a month in hospitals, he was not into hiking anymore but writing duality hacks (read more about his trip in the rainforest here).

Some years later, the stream that supported writing new articles ended. Instead, a stream backing Alexius’ basic trait as a storeroom manager appears to have taken over. Hence his writing creativity is replaced with the seemingly more tedious process of refining the articles already written. However, none of that changes, that he is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that, which is One because that is not an appearance.

Nor does it change that the duality hacks are not his or anybody else’s. Their content can be compared to water running from a tap, which in this metaphor is his buddy Gu∂ruång. Alexius is the empty glass that picks it up and shapes it into what you read. It was originally called Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, later also Alexius’ Duality Hacks.

But no matter the shape and the name, the flow remains unchanged. It cannot be altered, as that requires more than one, and there is no more than that which is One. For the same reason, it is a metaphor that Alexius is a medium for the flow shaped into Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings that somebody else read. Nevertheless, as long as you believe it is possible to be and have more than that which is One, there seems to be more than one involved in undoing this belief.

Devotion makes the world fade away – or rather your belief in it. What remains is that which is real. You do not need a guru or a mantra to be devoted. But you need to follow your natural instinct of losing that which is not you. That automatically happens when you devote yourself to whatever you are deeply attracted to – it might be a mundane thing like a cat, a person’s body, a specific computer game, a sunset or something less mundane like an angel. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

NO BEGINNING OR END:
In a way, the kick starter to writing Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings was an attraction to the body of a young woman, who was changing her clothes in front of Alexius on a sunny trip in the Mediterranean Sea. Instead of being ashamed of his physical attraction to a woman much younger than himself, he dived deep into it. Physically speaking, nothing happened between them, and he never saw her again. But later that day, still enchanted and walking in the woods, he heard the voice behind Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings.

This voice is not physical but somewhat transparent. It can be compared to an ascended master, but not one of those ‘rosy’ who want to help improve the world. Gu∂ruång that Alexius has named this voice does not want to deal with the world. On the contrary, the purpose is to undo the belief in being there or anywhere at all.

Ultimately the world where we appear to be is an illusion, including Gu∂ruång and Alexius. There is nothing but the formlessness of that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. But while we appear to be in a world defined by time and space, we appear different, so in that context, Gu∂ruång and Alexius are talked about as two different appearances. Still, they do not exist as two, nor as one, because it takes more than one to be someone, and there is no more than that which is One.

We all are empty space the brain has processed into something. But Gu∂ruång, the ‘voice’ behind Alexius’ Duality Hacks is unprocessed, thus not looking as something. Nevertheless, Alexius likes to imagine Gu∂ruång like in this drawing grabbed from the web. And that the go alone together’ on the way without time and space to that which is One.

Alexius does not force his will upon his cats, but they often choose to follow it. This does not mean that they channel him or follow a higher voice. But that they sense he wants to take care of them in the best way possible, as if they are a part of him.

Likewise Gu∂ruång wants to take care of Alexius, as if they part of each other, although they – like Alexius and his cats – are different in terms of appearances but not in content.

Alexius’ Duality Hacks are not channelled from Gu∂ruång. It is rather that Gu∂ruång composes a melody, and Alexius add words that go together with it. However, sometimes Alexius cannot find the words that fit the melody but want to go on writing. Thus he used phrases coloured by his past conditioning to give the articles a happy ending. instead of staying true to Gu∂ruångs melody without beginning an end.

For this reason, as said in Part 1, he is tidying up Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings to make sure the words match Gu∂ruångs melody. Therefore, what you read is the present version of Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings. However, there may never be a final one because it is a story without a beginning and end. Therefore, when you do not look for that, thus not seeing anything, nor Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, nothing definable seems to hide that which has no beginning and end, namely the formlessness of oneness.
