‘A state of not-knowing’ and the after-effect

Updated July 23, 2023

Those who want to be in a merry-go-round world of something may like to read about the bliss of nothing that the empty breath entails. But when they realise the bliss comes from not believing to be someone specific, they avoid it by, for example, saying, »I need time to process it.«Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

NOTHING TWISTED INTO SOMETHING
It takes more than one to appear as someone, but, as mentioned before, there is no more than that which is One. Therefore, appearing as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one is a fantasy made from nothing, experienced by nobody, although it seems as if someone has them when you believe the brain’s experiences are authentic.

The brain claims the experiences it produces are founded on information from our sensory system. Most people gladly accept that because otherwise, it is evident their experiences are a fantasy fabricated by the brain, wherefore what we see does not consist of tangible elements but intangible thoughts. See, Eyes do not see.

You may have noticed that even with your eyes closed, the brain can produce vivid images, looking like the world you see with open eyes. And it does not require you to be sexually stimulated by something in the physical world to produce an orgasm while you are dreaming. The substantiality of what and where you believe in being is a fantasy synthesised by the brain from nothing – like if you watch several movies in a row, the brain pieces their different work of fiction into one continuous story that feels so compelling you forget it is fantasy.

That is because whether experiences are perceived as yours or others, real or imagined, authentic or fake, fabrication or factual, physical or spiritual, they are processed by the brain in one higgledy-piggledy by the same organ. It views everything it processes as nothing that needs to be shaped into something so engaging that you do not notice it is fantasy. Nor does the brain want you to see that it is as immaterial as the experiences it produces to appear as something by making you believe they establish you as someone substantial in a tangible world.

Not organising thoughts and feelings into specific categories does not seem to represent something in a substantial world. Hence there is nothing to block out the empty breath, which does not know of such a world, nor that you believe to be there. All it knows is the nothingness from which this fantasy has been made. THE EMPTY BREATH EXPOSES THE BRAIN’S DECEPTION
The fastest way to see the brain’s deception is to return to the nothingness the brain has twisted into experiences of something by connecting with the empty breath that has not been twisted into something by the brain. You ignite a take-off into the empty breath by not organising thoughts and feelings into something but instead stepping into the nothingness of uncontrolled thoughts and feelings.

That does not make you deeper, higher, purer, balanced or something else. Being something is part of the brain’s game of nothing appearing as something, and the empty breath is not part of that, but the nothingness that the brain’s experiences are fabricated from. Therefore, since it cannot give you anything but nothing, you are in a state of not-knowing. In this state, you do not pick up on the brain’s deceptive fabrication of you as someone substantial in a tangible world, so you are in the bliss of nothing.

Getting into a state of not-knowing is as easy as told, but since we all are in the habit of looking for a solution in the experiences we perceive as something, we may get lost in them, thus feeling hopeless. No worries, there is so much energy in hopelessness that unedited ignites a take-off into the empty breath.

One second ago, the present experience of you as someone who reads this had still not been rendered by the brain because it has taken one second to make this experience from the info it claims to receive from your sensory system. But since the world, according to science, consists of empty space, the brain gets nothing. It hides that by creating experiences of nothing disguised as something experienced by someone definitive. In other words, one second ago, you were nothing and still are. However, the experiences the brain makes of you as someone definitive seem to conceal it when you ratify them by perceiving them as something to prevent being exposed as nothing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
Since the brain has used one second to twist nothing into your present experience of something, you get to the origin, nothing, by going back one second. It is not about getting closer to your pure essence but meeting the empty breath that resides in the nothingness unprocessed by the brain. Being with the empty breath, you are in a state of not-knowing where there is nobody to establish the brain’s fantasy of something as real. The indifference to the experiences manufactured by the brain wipes the slate clean, so when you return to the conscious experience of something, the after-effect is that you sense it is nothing, thus having fun experiencing nothing as something.

Nothing appears to make a difference in a state of not-knowing, so there is no special place to go or someone special to love. At first, that may feel like being stuck inside an unbreakable armour of pain instead of floating in the bliss of nothing. But if you do not try to escape the feeling of claustrophobia but are that and nothing else, there is nothing to define you. Consequently, there is no awareness of being someone definitive, so there is nobody to be specifically happy, sad or anything else.

Still, the freedom from something may feel claustrophobic because you cannot hide unpleasant feelings in something. Fortunately, this exposes them as nothing, wherefore feelings do not prevent you from falling into a body, neither felt physically nor integrated with higher energies because you are taking a break from labelling experiences as something. Please notice it does not mean that there are no thoughts and feelings but that nobody relates to them as something, so separation eventually fades away.

In a state of not-knowing, the brain cannot establish you as someone definitive. However, this does not mean you are transformed into a higher consciousness but that there is no awareness of being someone. That is why a state of not-knowing feels like walking on air.

In a state of not-knowing, your eyes may be closed or open. Perhaps you sit in a bus or a park, walk down a noisy street, talk a lot or are silent. Thoughts go on as usual since what and where you appear to be is a construction of thoughts. There is one difference, though. Before, thoughts were perceived as something, and now as nothing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In other words, even though the brain, as always, produces experiences of something from out of nothing, there is nobody to perceive them as something. That is why you are in the bliss of nothing, thus nowhere. But it is also why there is nobody to be aware of this until you return to the conscious experience of being someone definitive, and blissful memories of not believing to be something pop up.

Hence everything said in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings about a state of not-knowing is based on Alexius’ memories. And though a state of not-knowing is impersonal, memories are personal, so Alexius’ memories may differ from yours – like two persons drinking the same tea often remember it differently.

However, the brain feels abandoned if you are more than 20 minutes, 45 at most, in a state of not-knowing because you have not reacted to the brain’s fiction as if it is real. Therefore, since it gives up producing more experiences of you as someone, you cannot return to the consciousness of being in a world of something, nor can you continue in the bliss of nothing since the fantasy about being someone is over.

So whether you want to remain as someone, a state of not-knowing induced by the empty breath is bound to end relatively quickly so that the consciousness of being someone can be resumed or completely erased.

Everything believed to be a fact is made of the brain. It is, for example, not a fact that you see this picture now. It has taken the brain one second to fabricate this experience. Hence what you believe in seeing, you saw in the past. And then again, there was no picture one second ago. It is a fantasy of the brain made from nothing to make it look like you are something. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Suppose you no longer wish to appear in the brain’s experiences of something. In that case, you do not mind it stops mapping out empty space to make you appear someone, so the nothingness of you, via the Enlightenment of that which is One, gently falls through a black hole into that which is one.

No need to worry about accidentally staying too long in a state of not-knowing. First, hardly anybody comes to the point where the brain starts falling apart. Their urge to be someone is so deep-rooted that it is easy for the brain to break through a state of not-knowing with images of you as someone becoming and having more, which seems more tempting than being nobody in the bliss of nothing. Secondly, should you reach that point of no return, fear of survival probably is enough to reboot the brain, thus the experience of being someone in a world of something.

In short, you most likely leave a state of not-knowing a long time before the brain falls apart. And since you return to the consciousness of being someone with the slate wiped clean, you automatically serve the brain, thus everybody, because the brain has no personal preferences.

Only in a world where there seems to be more than one, does there appear to be levels, so if you experience to be advancing through levels, the belief that in more than One is not being undone but enhanced.

It is not thoughts that prevent us from being in the bliss of nothing but the desire to accomplish something with them. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

INTERLUDE
Since it feels very satisfying to be a servant of all, you do not look for something specific but happily go with the duality flow (Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality), sometimes take a break from duality via a state of not-knowing. Maybe you remain there, so the Enlightenment of that which is One can undo the belief in being someone. It does not alter or transform anything, as that requires more than one. Instead, it wipes out everything that calls for more than one. Hence there is nobody to be aware that you graciously keep falling until there is nothing to unite with oneness. Read more about that in Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One.

The willingness to have that done is often initiated by admitting you are not willing to recognise what you believe in being is nothing. By acknowledging this, you agree that what you appear to be is make-believe, thus, not real.

If you try to return to a state of not-knowing by replicating the last one, you will not enter it again because what you intend to replicate is memories, and contrary to a state of not-knowing, they are perceived as something. And if you use second-hand knowledge of how to get the bliss of nothing, you become the special self. As it focuses on realising itself, you will not enter a state of not-knowing because it is selfless.

You cannot welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One if you want to exist in any kind of form because it takes more than one to do that. This does not mean you have to die. That also calls for more than one.

Having glimpses of Enlightenment, you stick to one aspect at a time. So if you feel it, you do not try to see it. Yet, if visions of it start to take over, you go with that. Suppose you do not try to divide your vision into different shapes. In that case, you will not see patterns and colours in the visual glimpses of Enlightenment but one bright light. It sucks out everything you believe to be so that there is nothing to gracefully fall through a black hole into that which is One. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

GLIMPSES OF ENLIGHTENMENT IN A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
In a state of not-knowing, you may have glimpses of Enlightenment. But they are not the Enlightenment of that which is One – like a movie trailer is not the movie but samples of it.

The Enlightenment of that which is One cannot be experienced as it requires more than one to be aware of something. Nevertheless, you can see, hear, feel or taste glimpses of it. They are experienced via the inward-facing senses, so they do not blend with the world of the outward-facing senses. Read more about that here.

In other words, the visual glimpses of Enlightenment do not lighten a room. On the contrary, it makes it impossible to see it. And even though audio glimpses are the most subtle polyphony bell-like sounds, they do not mix with church bells or any other mundane sound. That is why you better block out glimpses of Enlightenment when driving a car or doing something else that needs you to focus on something in the world of the outward-facing senses.

Since we are used to perceiving experiences as coming from outside, we perceive glimpses of Enlightenment to come from inside or another world. But this is not so. They come from a gap in nothing, almost unprocessed by the brain. The experiences perceived to be outside of us also come from nothing. However, they are heavily processed by the brain to appear as something outside us.

The experience of you as someone can only be exposed as a hallucination if you are willing to have the belief in being that undone. Having the willingness, the undoing occurs when you keep reading Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings. because they do not result in something but nothing, hence they automatically hack the belief in being something.

The after-effect of a state of not-knowing is a certainty that the thoughts needed for being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one automatically are produced by the brain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE AFTER-EFFECT OF A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
If you do not want to return to the conscious experience of being somebody, you must leave a state of not-knowing after 20 minutes, 45 at most. If not, you cannot ratify the experiences fabricated by the brain as something now and then. Therefore, since they are exposed as nothing, there does not appear to be something to keep the brain together, so it falls into a coma.

But if you leave a state of not-knowing before the brain collapse, you return to the conscious experience of being someone with the slate wiped clean, thus free to follow the brain’s script. See Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain. It feels like you start from the ground up, moving very slowly with no purpose other than fine-tuning the body as a tool for experiencing a tangible world.

Although this is not done systemically with coordinated movements, breathing, and meditation, others assume that if they replicate these slow movements in a focused mode, a la Tai Chi, they magically enter a higher state of being. However, a state of not-knowing does not arise from focusing but from defocusing, nor is it higher.

Returning with the slate wiped clean from a state of not-knowing to the experience of being someone, the relationships you used to have may seem dull because you have no need to exploit others when not trying to appear in a special way.

As long as the after-effect of a state of not-knowing lasts, which can be from a few seconds to several years, you rely on the brain to produce experiences of being someone in a tangible world – just like you depend on it to compose a dream. Going along with the experiences as the brain makes them, and not as you think they should be, feels like sleepwalking. It is effortless, contrary to doing things your way, which is stressful. Fortunately, uncontrolled stress ignites a take-off into the empty breath and the bliss of nothing, from where you return with a clean slate, thus having an effortless life as someone in the brain’s fantasy of a tangible world.

You probably go back and forth between the consciousness of being someone and a state of not-knowing many times before you forget to leave it, thus welcoming the Enlightenment of that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Like the empty breath syncs being nobody with being somebody in a state of not-knowing, so you can move around in nothing as if it is something, it also does that when you return to the consciousness of being someone. But, of course, the ratio is different in the after-effect of a state of not-knowing.

In a state of not-knowing, there is so little consciousness of being somebody that nobody perceives the different experiences to make a difference. That is why you are in the bliss of nothing. But in the after-effect, the empty breath syncs the bliss of nothing with the conscious experience of something, so the nothingness is forgotten when you need to drive a car, for example. In other words, in a state of not-knowing, you are mainly nobody and, in the after-effect, somebody.

Be aware that there is no will to perceive anything in a particular way when in a state of not-knowing. And the transition from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone is not noticed because nobody is aware of having been in a state of not-knowing. Nor do you not know that the bliss of nothing has wiped the slate clean, your psychological projections on the body have been lifted, and your perceptions are automatically generated in sync with the brain’s script (see Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain). However, you notice you are in the duality flow (see Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality) because the body feels light, and you have no need to project anything on it.

That does not necessarily mean it always is like that. Your conditioned way of reacting to something may be so deeply rooted that you return to a familiar response pattern. But, no worries, a quick visit to a state of not-knowing, and you start over again with a clean slate in the brain’s fantasy world of duality pairs.

Sooner or later, you feel so entertained by twofoldness that you are blown out. Therefore, since there does not appear to be someone experiencing something, nothing seems to hide, there never has been or will be anything but the formlessness of oneness.

Thoughts and feelings may seem distant in a state of not-knowing, but when you return to the consciousness of being someone definitive, they are very close. However, since they are no longer perceived as something but nothing, you enjoy the intimacy of nothing in whatever shape it appears to take. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

WAYS TO ENTER A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
All Alexius’ Duality Hacks, except the Enlightenment of that which is One, will eventually take you back to nothingness the brain has twisted into something, so you are in a state of not-knowing, as explained above. Below that is explored a bit further.

When you feel speedy and restless, you use its uncontrolled energy to ignite a take-off to the empty breath (Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath). But if you feel tired, pretending to be that probably is the better choice of a hack because what you pretend to be is not you (Duality Hack #2 Pretending to be in a world of duality, you undo it).

If you tend to blame the world for everything unpleasant, perceiving everything as symbols of oneness could be the hack to apply (Duality Hack #3 Seeing duality as a symbol of non-duality). But being Alone Together is also a good hack for that (Duality Hack #12 The key to oneness is Alone together).

Please be aware that the purpose of Alexius’ Duality Hacks is not to heal the body but the sick belief that you are in it. That said, the more this unhealthy belief is healed, the more the body is set free from your psychological dominance. Hence the biological system is not blocked from caring for the body on material terms. However, sometimes a kickstart may be beneficial, for example, nootropics for boosting the brain, Blackroll for relaxing the muscles, weightlifting for toning them and far-infrared heating pads with PEMF for deep bodily relaxation. PEMF devices emit magnetic fields nearly identical to these frequencies created by the body’s cells, organs, bones, and tissues (see PEMF mat). Hence the body is helped on its terms and not your ideas of well-being. Read more about setting the body free from your dominance in Duality Hack #7 The fake mix of physical and non-physical issues.

APPENDIX:
To be in sync with the script of the brain does not mean you have to like it but that you have to relate to it as it is and not as you think it should be per a particular philosophy. In other words, whether you respond with anger or joy to the brain’s script, you are in a dialogue with the brain, thus feeling its love.

But if you reject the brain’s script by responding to a story believed better, such as socialism, you are not communicating with the brain but with a fable about a better world. Therefore, since you seek something better, you do not feel the love you already get from the brain.

More than one is like a film of oneness in slow-mo

Updated July 23, 2023

When letters are compiled in various configurations, their different shapes can be attributed as meaningful or meaningless. And when the supposedly meaningful ones are arranged in rows like here, it is as if you read a story written by somebody other than yourself. Hence it seems there is more than One. But since the different arrangements of letters are interpreted by you, you are the maker of the story, so it does not prove there is more than One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Let us imagine that oneness consists of endless letters, some of those make up the shapes appearing in a world where there is more than one. However, since there is no separation in oneness, the letters that oneness consists of cannot be distinguished. Besides, oneness is so fast that it is one perpetual present. Therefore, since there is no time, it is impossible to organise anything linearly.

But suppose you imagine slowing down the speed of oneness until there appears to be space between its letters. In that case, they appear to have different shapes that, over time, can be combined in several combinations attributed with each their specific meaning. Hence space and time establish separation as real and the formlessness of oneness as unreal.

Fortunately, this fantasy of a world where there seems to be more than one is easily undone when you reverse it and instead speed up the thoughts that establish the meaning of the letters until there is no time to establish separation.

Suppose you need time to process what you read. In that case, it is not to understand it but to reduce the speed of thoughts so you can remain in the experience of a slowed-down version of oneness and appear calm although feeling alienated because you are not a separated being, but the formlessness of oneness.

It is only in the world of duality, that there appears to be movements, and that there can be more of it. In reality no movements can appear, because everything move so fast that it is one perpetual present as you can see illustrated in these pics of a fan.

In that which is One, everything moves so fast that there is no separation – like in the first image, where the extreme speed of the ceiling fan annuls separation. However, when the fan is slowed down, separation occurs. Likewise, a world where there seems to be more than one appears to come into being when imagining slowing down oneness. The graphic is grabbed from the web and manipulated by Alexius.

In the movie Lucy, Scarlett Johansson demonstrates that when time is speeded up infinitely, there is nothing to see. This is comparable to that which is One. It is so speedy that there is no separation to define something. That is why it is formless, thus endless, and a world where there seems to be more than one is non-existing.

ONENESS VERSUS A WORLD WHERE THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE THAN ONE
Oneness can be compared to a movie played so fast that its frames look like one, making it impossible to see anything specific. However, slowed down, it seems like oneness is full of frames with a particular look – like a world with more than one.

Therefore, if you believe to be someone in the movie of a world where there seems to be more than one, you do not undo this belief by slowness but by quickness. You need to speed up the film – or rather, your interpretation of it. Since that is a construction of thoughts, the faster they move, the more the frames appear to press on, and the less you experience more than one.

The Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnyk plays extremely rapid, intricate patterns of notes, which produce overtones so trance-inducing, that a cascade sound of purity makes you forget, it is ignited by the speed and complexity underneath it.

That happens by itself when thoughts are not shaped into interlocking Lego bricks, used to build an appearance of you as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one. Then thoughts are free to speed up until it is impossible to hold onto them, wherefore you enter a state of not-knowing. From where you return with the slate wiped clean to the awareness of being someone – or have your consciousness terminated by the Enlightenment of that which is One, so there are no experiences to hide there never was or will be anything but the formlessness of oneness.

If you close your eyes after having been deeply involved in something, physically or mentally, you may see it as a blurred picture speeding up like a movie frame. You do not feel disturbed if not holding back, because then its unrestrained energy ignites a take-off into the empty breath, which brings about the bliss of nothing.

The same applies when you worry and do not try to pacify yourself but instead step into the full uncontrolled speed of thoughts and emotions. Then a take-off into the empty breath is ignited.

So to repeat, returning to oneness is not about slowing down thoughts, least of all stopping them. If you do that, you are stuck in a single frame of an empty void, separated from similar ones. This numbness of stillness is as far away from oneness as you can get because that which is One is not deadlocked but free-flowing energy, moving at such a speed that everything is fused into the formlessness of oneness (see the first box).

Therefore, you undo the belief in a world where there seems to be more than one by speeding up thoughts to the extent that they do not appear to differ. Since that makes it impossible to interpret your experience as something specific, no shapes appear to hide the formlessness of oneness.

APPENDIX
Only in undoing the belief in more than one should thoughts not be organised into specific shapes. In a world where there seems to be more than one, thoughts must be set up in particular constructions to confirm your appearance. But maybe not how you expect.

‘The empty breath’ syncs the inward and outward-facing senses

Updated July 23, 2023

Should you wonder who chooses to believe in being someone and who has programmed the brain to produce experiences that seem to confirm this belief or who wonders about this, the answer is nobody. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The brain considers the abstract world of the inward-facing senses an uncompleted version of the substantial world of the outward-facing senses. But it does not mind which one you prefer because its purpose of twisting nothing into something is to make you feel so entertained by its experiences that they seem real, thus attesting to the brain as existent.

But little does it know that having experiences via the inward-facing senses eventually ends the brain’s experiences of you as someone in a world defined by time and space, so there does not appear to be something hiding the formlessness of oneness.

WHAT AND WHERE ARE THE INWARD AND OUTWARD-FACING SENSES
The concepts of seeing, hearing, feeling and tasting relate to the same sensory system, whether in the abstract way of the inward-facing senses or the substantial way of outward-facing ones. In the case of abstract experiences, the brain has not fully processed nothingness into the appearance of physical elements outside you. Thus it feels as if there is an abstract world inside you.

But in the world of the outward-facing senses, the brain has finished twisting nothing into something, so you appear as someone substantial in a tangible world outside you. However, since it takes more than one to experience something, and since there is no more than that which is One, all experiences are an illusion, whether with the outward or inward-facing senses.

The abstract world of the inward-facing senses is experienced when time and space are not entirely considered real. Ultimately speaking, though, the experiences with the inward-facing senses are not more real than those with the outward-facing senses because any experience requires more than one, and there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Hence it is only in the context of the brain’s plot to deceive you into experiencing nothing as something that there is someone to experience an abstract world, lightly processed by the brain from the frequencies of nothingness and a substantial world, heavily processed by the brain from the same frequencies.

Still, in this context, the abstract experiences of the inward-facing senses come about when not entirely focused on being someone substantial in the world of the outward-facing senses. The little left of the belief in being substantial makes it possible to experience the abstractness of the inward-facing senses. In other words, when you appear to be nobody in the world of the inward-facing senses, you have not entirely left the belief in being somebody.

Initially, the abstractness in the world of the inward-facing senses may not seem very comforting, but it is the reverse. In the world of the outward-facing senses, we are always afraid of not making it, whereas we have nothing to live up to in the world of the inward-facing senses.

You must constantly focus on the world of outward-facing senses to make it seem real. But it is the other way around in the world of the inward-facing senses. That is experienced when there is no effort to focus or concentrate.

As long as you intend to appear in a world where there seems to be more than one, it is best to multitask between the inward and outward-facing senses so you focus when needed and space out if nothing is required of you.

But we cannot remain in this abstract world if we want to go on in a world defined by time and space. Fortunately, the empty breath is an automatic gear shift between the outward and inward-facing senses, so we go back and forth between them per our present situation.

Just like everything else sensed, the empty breath is invisible and colourless until the brain ascribes it to a specific shape and colour. But as the empty breath does not aspire to be something, the brain does not care to twist it into an object. Hence it remains invisible and colourless.

Not being someone specific feels as if you are nothing, which seems pretty discomforting until you realise that being empty, you are a vessel for the empty breath, which takes you into the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses, where glimpses of Enlightenment become the base for experiencing the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE EMPTY BREATH SYNCS THE INWARD AND OUTWARD-FACING SENSES
Even though you hide from the sun, it remains where it is – likewise, the empty breath. Therefore, the empty breath remains with us if we have briefly been connected with it. It does not know we do not feel connected because it is unaware that we believe to be separated beings in the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses.

Yet, the empty breath senses the stress this belief seems to create, so it synchs it with the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses. That is not because it is more peaceful in the world of inward-facing senses than in the outward-facing senses. But because the stress in the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses does not seem disturbing in the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses.

Besides, the body does not seem troublesome when the perception of it is coordinated with the inward-facing senses per what and where we appear to be because the tensions experienced due to psychological worries about the body’s condition vanishes. See also Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix.

However, it cannot work if you suppress the involuntary movements, the ignition of the empty breath may bring about to make you fall into place with the inward and outward-facing senses. Therefore, follow your electric-like, physical and mental impulses to get this synchronisation. For example, if the shoulders tighten up, be ready for mental relaxation when they fall. Or, if feeling sad, be prepared to be indifferent.

This is a leaf from a palm tree that Alexius has processed into a fantasy of what it may look like when not seen in the world of the outward-facing senses but experienced in the abstract world of the inward-facing senses. But he cannot illustrate the formlessness of oneness. It is without separation, so it cannot be seen. However, that does not mean it is nothing. On the contrary, since oneness is formless, thus endless, it is everything. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

This picture and the yellow one above have been processed from the same digital photo. Nothing has been added to the images. However the digital info is manipulated differently. It is a bit like when the brain from the same void of nothing renders a world in a world where there seems to be more than one. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Sometimes, something extreme is needed to make you realise the senses have been synced. For example, when Alexius, as a child, had been involved in an accident, he forgot what and where he was. So when he finally returned home, he asked his mother Who am I? His uncertainty remained, although his parents assumed he soon restituted. However, appearing as they expected was something he pretended as he always had done but was mainly unaware of until then. Read about pretence in Duality Hack #2 Pretending to be twofold undoes duality.

You cannot help the empty breath with the synchronisation. Still, you can prevent yourself from interfering with it, for instance, by doing Nordic Walking regularly, applying heat to the eyes with RENPHO Eye Massager with Heat Compression before sleeping and sleeping with far-infrared heating pads with PEMF.

It is essential to accept that although everything looks like before you were connected with the empty breath, nothing feels the same. At first, it may seem blander because you no longer get peak experiences in the world of the outward-facing senses. But that is because you do not split the duality pairs into separate entities. Therefore, since you feel neither up nor down but are the constant movement of opposites, there is no need for peak experiences.

NOTES:

Notes on ‘the empty breath’

Updated June 7, 2023

The function of the empty breath is not to improve the apparent condition of what and where you appear to be. That would be a replacement of one illusion with another. Instead, its function is to facilitate the undoing of the belief that what and where you appear to be is real. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The empty breath is not about getting healthier, more money, success, love or anything else, but realising what you appear to be and have is nothing. Hence there does not appear to be something hiding the formlessness of oneness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is difficult to explain the bliss of nothing that arises from the empty breath because it comes from not perceiving experiences as something.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Connecting with the empty breath, you do not aim to go higher but to fall into the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Why is nothing so blissful? Because without something, there are no problems.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is impossible to leave oneness since it is formless, thus endless. Yet, it appears possible to imagine not being there but in a world where there seems to be more than one. In that context, you get a life jacket from oneness: the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the empty breath loves you unconditionally, it is not bothered by your fantasies of being someone definitive. Besides, it is nothing, thus seeing nothing specific. That is why every experience of something is perceived as nothing when connected with the empty breath. Of course, this does not mean you do not do something about a broken leg, for example. But since it is seen as nothing, you do not add worries to your broken leg.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Connecting with the empty breath has nothing to do with appearance but being a medium for nothing, which you are when willing not to be something specific, even when meeting a precious friend like Alexius does here in the hospital. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

What you see on a computer screen are zeros and ones on a hard disk combined to simulate there is something on the screen instead of nothing. But it is not before an app has processed a combination of zeros and ones on the hard disk that you see something on the screen instead of nothing.

In this context, the empty breath is zeros and ones unprocessed by the brain, whereas the world of the screen is zeros and ones are processed by the app called the brain. But the empty breath does not know, you choose to believe the brain’s fantasy of nothing as something.

All the empty breath knows is that reality is oneness. Thus all that it wants is to breathe emptiness into what you believe in being and seeing so that it does not seem to hide, there never was or will be more than oneness because it is formless, thus endless.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As you probably have read in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings many times, oneness is formless, thus endless. And since it requires more than one to experience something, every experience is fictional. Consequently, it also applies to the experience of the empty breath.

Nevertheless, this experience, deeply rooted in an archetypical image of a never-ending rhythmic flow, slowly but surely corrects the misunderstanding that experiences are real. Furthermore, it becomes unproblematic to experience something. Not in the sense that you have no bad experiences but are indifferent to them.

If this feels confusing, do not try to figure it out. But go with the chaos until you cannot make ends meet and feel as if you are about to explode, which in a sense, happens when the build-up tensions ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Therefore, since it takes you to a state of not-knowing, you are not bound by the belief in being someone definitive until you leave this state and return to the belief in being someone.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Returning to that which is one is not a matter of going anywhere. Oneness is formless, thus endless, so it is impossible to leave it. Unfortunately, it seems possible to believe it is possible to separate. Fortunately, the empty breath undoes this belief so gently that we can enjoy our mistake while having it undone. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings gladly proclaim they are nothing, and you do not get something when connected with the empty breath. Thus nothing to perceive the present moment as something, wherefore you do not get the frustration of something but the bliss of nothing. Read here how to connect with the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Just like what you appear to be is nothing, so is the empty breath. But unlike you, it does not need to conceal its nothingness by appearing as something. Consequently, nothing prevents it from being what and where it is most beneficial for you – even under your feet if that is what it takes to make you see you are a fantasy made from nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Though the empty breath has no need to be remembered by you, it is beneficial that you remember it now and then. Temporarily being connected makes you feel better appearing as someone definitive when not connected.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A state of not-knowing does not only come from the empty breath. It is the outcome of all Alexius’ Duality Hacks. But if this state always is the same cannot be known because it is a state of not-knowing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is extreme sensitivity to a world defined by time and space that makes you feel fed up, thus feeling so uncomfortable that you give up and go with the uncontrolled energy of confusion, igniting a take-off into the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Going with the flow of the empty breath is just as easy as going with the flow of sex. The latter, though, does not result in the undoing of the belief that you are someone definitive unless the orgasm is used to ignite a take-off to the empty breath. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Following the flow of the empty breath is no different from following the flow of the genitals because no thinking is needed. However, being horny enhance the belief in being someone definitive, whereas the empty breath phases it out.

That is not to say that sex should be avoided because excluding sex or anything else adds to the definition of you as someone definitive. Actually, an orgasm can be used to ignite a take-off into the empty breath if you do not hold back but are nothing but orgasmic (read more about sex here).

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Following the empty breath, you automatically multitask because it does not know of focusing on something specific. Therefore, when you do not feel the empty breath, multitasking makes you feel it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since you perceive experiences based on a remix of memories, adjusted every time you recall them to boost the story of you as someone definitive, your perception does not match others.’ Therefore, you conclude something is wrong in your story or others’ and start to correct what you judge as incorrect.

The more you appear successful in this, the more it seems the story can be shaped to create a better version of you. Yet, no matter how the story is corrected, it remains a fantasy, and so does the idea that you are the author – just like you are not the author of a dream, nor are you in it, or the dream in you. It is a deception the brain makes to look as if nothing is something.

Fortunately, the brain cannot make the empty breath look like something, so when we are connected with it, we are in the bliss of nothing, thus not conditioned to perceive our experiences per a story we have made up to improve ourselves.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Some claim the amount of info coming from digital media makes them stressed. But that is probably because they sort the news per a particular philosophy. Thus it is not the amount of information but manipulating it to support a specific opinion that makes them stressed. Fortunately, the more stressed you get, the faster it disappears when you do not slow down the pace of thoughts but use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The change of size and weight from hefty to almost nothing – for example, vinyl to CD to MP3 to streaming, and computer to smartphones to wearables – is a reminder that reality is sizeless because it is that which is One, and it takes more than one to have a shape.

For the same reason, oneness cannot be seen. That is why the purpose of the empty breath is not to reveal oneness but that what you see is nothing. Hence your interpretation of nothing as something does not seem to hide the formlessness of oneness – like when not perceiving a dream as something, it does not seem to hide you are in your bed. The empty breath accomplishes this while you enjoy seeing nothing as something.

Of course, you could contemplate that something is nothing. But it often turns into a joyless debate of something instead of being in the bliss of nothing entailed by the wordlessness of the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There are many ways to appear in a world defined by time and space, but there is no way to leave it because you are not in it – like within the context of such a world, a dreamer is not in their dream and, therefore, does not return to bed when it is over. Likewise, you do not return to the formlessness of oneness when your apparent life in a world defined by time and space is finished because you never left the formlessness of oneness. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Since most resist being nobody, they are unwilling to undo the belief in being somebody. But if you acknowledge this, you confirm your appearance is make-believe. Thus you have the willingness to undo the belief in being somebody. See also Willingness not to exclude but include undoes the belief in a world where there seems to be more than one.

That does not mean you suddenly are gone, reborn or awakened. The story of Santa Claus does not change when you grow up. What changes is that we do not believe it is real anymore. However, there is one difference between the story of Santa Claus and the story of being someone specific in a world defined by time and space. When the belief in the latter is undone or in the process of being it, you are not disappointed. Instead, you feel free to enjoy the story of duality.

You can take breaks from the story by connecting with the empty breath, thus being in a state of not-knowing. And when not connected with the empty breath, it helps you live out the story by syncing the inward and outward-facing. Since this makes you indifferent to a specific interpretation of something, you are in the duality flow. See Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the empty breath synchronises the outward and inward-facing senses, we become indifferent to being somebody in the tangible world of the outward-facing senses, thus responsive to being nobody in the abstract world of the inward-facing senses. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius connected with the empty breath when he, as a child, every night devoted himself to the whereabouts of the breath, thus going to sleep in the bliss of nothing. However, others were talking so much about being transformed into something higher, so the bliss of nothing seemed foolish to bring about.

Thus he hid being nobody in the bliss of nothing by pretending to be somebody in the world of something until he started writing Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings in 2012. But it was not before writing Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath that he named the way to the bliss of nothing: the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Connecting with the empty breath does not require meditation or other techniques based on exclusion, restraint and control. But neither does the connection require you not to be exclusive because if you stand by your unwillingness to include everything unedited, the uncontrolled energy of suppression ignites a take-off to the empty breath.

CANCELLEX Insisting on differences is stressful

Updated May 26, 2023

Only in a world where there seems to be more than one can you search for the meaning of life. But it is not to be found there or anywhere else because it takes more than one to find something, and life is that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Compiling letters in various configurations, particular shapes can be attributed as meaningful and others as meaningless. When supposedly meaningful shapes are organised together divided by dots and commas, like in this article, they seem to make up a story written by somebody other than the reader, thus confirming there is more than One. But since the different arrangements of letters making up the story is interpreted by the reader, it is made by the reader. Consequently, the story does not prove there is more than One.

Let us imagine that oneness consists of endless letters and some of those make up the shapes appearing in a world where there is more than one are the same. However, since there is no separation in oneness, the letters oneness consists of cannot be distinguished from each other, thus not organised into shapes that, when added together in specific ways, seem to establish a story of a world where there is more than one.

Some claim the amount of info coming from digital media makes them stressed. But that is probably because they sort the news per a particular philosophy. Therefore, it is not the amount of information but organising it to support a specific opinion that makes them stressed. Fortunately, the more stressed you get, the faster it disappears if you do not slow down its pace but use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

But it is not only because there is no space to separate the letters in oneness that they cannot be differentiated from each other, but also because in oneness everything moves so fast that there is no time (read more about that here). Hence, it is impossible to organise them linearly – or in any other way.

In the context of our story about that which is One versus a world where there seems to be more than one, you could say the latter is a fantasy of slowing down oneness until there appears to be space between the letters, which therefore have a shape of their own that over time can be combined in different combinations attributed each their meaning. Thus space and time establish separation as real and the formlessness of oneness as unreal.

In other words, you slow down oneness to turn formlessness into thoughts representing specific shapes you can manipulate to your liking in a world where there seems to be more than one. Fortunately, this fantasy is easily undone when you reverse it, thus speeding up thoughts.

Unlike the Enlightenment of that which is One, the empty breath does not erase your memories of being someone. But since the empty breath resides in the nothingness from where the brain makes the experiences you believe establish you as someone, the empty breath knows you are nothing. Thus, with the empty breath by your side, the experiences do not establish you as someone substantial in a tangible world – like within the context of such a world, what you appear to be in the virtual world of a game is not perceived as real. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

A JOURNEY WITHOUT DISTANCE TAKES NO TIME
It is not a fact but a make-believe that you are someone definitive. It is exposed when you do not attribute meaning to the different combinations of letters in this article because then there are nothing to separate them, thus nothing to confirm you as someone definitive.

Since there is no more than oneness, nobody has ever left it. Thus going back takes no time.

The fastest way to get there is to welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One (see Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One). It promptly and relentlessly erases everything ever experienced. Hence there are no memories from which an image of you as someone definitive can be recalled. Thus not someone who seems to hide, there is no more than oneness because it is formless, thus endless.

Should you prefer to have the belief in being someone undone over time, you can connect with the empty breath (read more about that here). Once is enough because it does not know of separation. So even though you may forget the empty breath, it slowly but surely undo the belief in being someone definitive while assisting you in enjoying this belief.

Of course, you could contemplate this yourself. But it quickly turns into a joyless debate of something instead of being in the bliss of nothing entailed by the wordlessness of the empty breath.

To undo the belief in separation, you must give up attributing meaning to anything so your apparent different experiences do not appear to make a difference. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

WHEN NOTHING IS NOT PERCEIVED AS SOMETHING
The change of size and weight from hefty to almost nothing – for example, vinyl to CD to MP3 to streaming, and computer to smartphones to wearables – is a reminder that reality is sizeless because it is that which is One, and it takes more than one to have a shape.

For the same reason, oneness cannot be seen. That is why the purpose of the empty breath is not to reveal oneness but that what you see is nothing you perceive as something. In other words, when you do not perceive what you see as something, it does not seem to hide the formlessness of oneness – like when not perceiving a dream as something, it does not seem to hide you are in your bed. The empty breath accomplishes this while you simultaneously enjoy experiencing nothing as something.

NOTE: This article is part of Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath.

Consequently, you do not undo this fantasy by slowing down the speed of thoughts via meditation or something else pacifying. Nor is oneness revealed by understanding this or anything else because recognising something calls for more than one, thus enhancing the belief in more than one.

Everywhere and nowhere with ‘the empty breath’

Updated June 12, 2023

Although being in the bliss of nothing is straightforward, it may seem complicated if you assume thoughts must be controlled or stopped because focusing on them is impossible in the bliss of nothing. Neither is focussing beneficial for getting there. On the contrary, when not trying to control thoughts, they speed up until the explosion of their unedited energy ignites a take-off into the empty breath and the bliss of nothing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Connecting with the empty breath may initially feel like you have two kinds of breaths. You may struggle with the physical one, taking quick gasps of air, deep breaths or manipulating breathing per a specific philosophy. And you may feel the empty breath does not supply you with enough air. But that is probably because its pace is slower than you expect. It has a more extended break between breathing in and out to stabilise breathing in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide.

UP AND DOWN WITH THE EMPTY BREATH
It does not feel like it is yourself but a ‘generator’ in the abdomen that makes the empty breath. It expands the abdomen, the belly, and the chest very gently. Then, after a short break, it contracts the body. And then it starts all over. But it may feel like hardly any air is coming through the nose because the empty breath is experienced via the inward-facing senses, which requires the outward-facing senses turned down. Hence you are not much aware of physical movements. Nevertheless, like an inner breath, the empty breath brings all the necessary air. Read more about the inward and outward-fencing senses here.

Physical speaking, breathing can be done through the mouth, but the nose is better. It allows you to use the mouth for the taste of oneness technique, thus getting its side-effect of defocusing and, therefore, in the bliss of nothing. See the paragraph The taste of oneness in The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them.

Please be aware that this article does not intend to present a factual explanation of breathing when the empty breath is in the driving seat but how it feels. Since it is felt via the inward-facing senses and the physical breath is felt by the outward-facing senses, the experience of the empty breath goes on undisturbed by the physical condition of your body.

Therefore, if you have an issue with the lungs that shortens the physical breath, you still get the whole experience of the empty breath when you remain in the inward-facing senses and patiently wait for the empty breath to fill your lungs with the bliss of nothing. And since there was nothing before there was something, the nothingness of the empty breath gives you maximum charge if you do not expect something.

Following the rhythm of the empty breath described here and elsewhere in Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath is hypnotising. That is why you forget to experience yourself as someone separated from others by time and space. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The generator of the physical breath is the muscle called the diaphragm, between the stomach and the chest (see Wikipedia). But, as already said, the ‘dynamo’ of the empty breath is in the abdomen. So from there, you follow the swing of the empty breath to the top of the head, more or less aligned with the body’s expansion from the abdomen to the chest. At the same time, you acknowledge thoughts and feelings without editing them. Hence their unbound energy ignites a gentle explosion in the top of the head, erasing the perception of being someone. After that, it is like having a body that is not there because you are in a state of not-knowing.

Read more about the swing of the empty breath in What does the empty breath feel like? And read about a state of not-knowing in A state of not-knowing and the after-effect.

That remains while the body contracts, and you go with the swing of the empty breath down to the abdomen. After that, you keep going up and down with the swing of the empty breath, thus still in a state of not-knowing and its bliss of nothing. This is not to say that a state of not-knowing resides in the breath’s flow. It is nowhere. That is why it is obscured by the experiences of time and space that seem to confirm you as someone definitive in a tangible world.

If the above example, you followed the swing of the empty breath going up and down. But you could also have surfed the yin-yang-shaped waves in a vertical circle from the front to the back of you or the other way, thus going up and down in a circular movement. Or perhaps you listened to the transparent sound of the empty breath while going up and down. – or maybe you changed between those ways or did them simultaneously. Read about that in What does the empty breath feel like?

But if you stay in a state of not-knowing for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most, at a time, you cannot return to the experience of being someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one. Read more about that here. So if you want to return to that, you better depart a state of not-knowing relatively quickly. Since you do it with the slate wiped clean, you come back unconditioned, wherefore igniting a new take-off into the empty breath is easy. Below we look at how you can quickly go back and forth between a state of not-knowing and the conscious experience of being someone.

The empty breath cancels out the apparent differences in a world where there seems to be more than one. That does not mean they are not experienced as different anymore, but that difference is not perceived to make a difference. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When you every so often return to the empty breath, nothing remains a problem because the differences that appear to cause problems are not perceived to make a difference when you are with the empty breath.

That is, if you do not prevent the empty breath from doing that by insisting your spouse, for example, makes a difference. Fortunately, the frustration that seems to arise from upholding a singular perspective can be used to ignite a take-off into the empty breath.

EVERYWHERE AND NOWHERE WITH THE EMPTY BREATH
Above, you followed the empty breath from the abdomen to the head, where you entered a state of not-knowing in which you remained as nobody for some time.

However, in this sample, you are only in a state of not-knowing when you follow the empty breath from the head to the abdomen while the body contracts. But when it expands, you return to the conscious experience of being somebody by remembering something specific. Fortunately, with the help of the empty breath, you do not perceive that as something. Hence you return to the head as nobody and go down to the abdomen in a state of-not-knowing while the body contracts. From there, you go up to the head again as somebody and leave as nobody in a state of not-knowing. And so on.

Having done this for a while, going back and forth between a state of not-knowing and the conscious experience of being someone becomes automatic. Eventually, you do not know when you are somebody because the contrast of up and down is soon cancelled out (read more about that here). Thus it feels as if nobody is going nowhere and everywhere.

Please notice that when parts of the body, like the head, are mentioned in the movements of the empty breath, you do not experience those parts as compact but transparent because you are with the empty breath. In What does the empty breath feel like? you can read more about the different ways of experiencing the empty breath.

Suppose you think you find something better around the next corner. In that case, you will probably not notice the empty breath because it is not behind anything but before everything that the brain has twisted into an experience of something from out of nothing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

HERE OR THERE?
Since you a long time ago accepted that the body’s expansion and contraction are related to breathing in and out, you do not have to think about this connection anymore. The same applies if you psychologically decide that breathing in means you are conscious of being someone and breathing out that you are in a state of not-knowing – like you do not have to do anything to feel attracted to the kind of look you have decided is cool.

Having said that, in a state of not-knowing, all conditioning is cancelled, so you return to the consciousness of being someone with the slate wiped clean. Therefore, since you are the basic self, you are in the duality flow, thus unable to uphold a specific decision. Fortunately, that is unnecessary because a state of not-knowing complements the duality flow. Besides, a state of not-knowing makes you laugh, so you may still be laughing when returning to the conscious experience of being someone, thus quickly reentering a state of not-knowing.

FROM THE THIRD EYE WITH THE EMPTY BREATH
So far, we have said the ‘dynamo’ of the empty breath is in the abdomen. But if you prefer a more metaphysical approach, you can use the third eye as ‘dynamo’ and start going with the empty breath from there.

You do that by defocusing on the third eye. Then you patiently wait until the breath starts by itself. But you do not go with the flow of it. Instead, you rest in the space that seems to have opened in the third eye, filled with the transparent sound of the empty breath. From there, you probably sense the swing of the empty breath in the upper part of the body, and when breathing in, you have glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One.

Whether connecting with the empty breath from a ‘dynamo’ in the abdomen or the third eye, you do not notice the constant streaming of thoughts from the brain. So, except when returning to the conscious experience of being somebody, you are in the bliss of nothing, thus feeling transparent, regardless of looking the same.

There is also a ‘dynamo’ for the empty breath in the eighth chakra above the head. From there, you start in a state of not-knowing and simultaneously surf both sides of a vertical circle side of you until you reach the heart. Here you begin contemplating the bliss of nothing, so you are not in a state of not knowing when you surf back to the eighth chakra simultaneously on both sides of a vertical circle that goes forward and backwards you. Returning to the eighth chakra, you are back in a state of not-knowing until you surf down to the heart, where you again contemplate the bliss of being nobody. And so it goes. If you are a high-frequency person, this is probably your way with the empty breath.

You do not need to remember every detail of this photo to get a sense of it. Likewise, you do not need to remember all the explanations about the empty breath to sense it. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

FORGETTING UP AND DOWN
Connecting with the empty breath is not a matter of letting go or surrendering because doing so enhances the belief in being someone definitive. And you keep the empty breath at bay if you try to figure out which way to follow it or if it follows the physical breath. It has nothing to do with the body. Actually, you will never know if the physical and empty breath are aligned because you are in a state of not-knowing when connected with the empty breath.

It is a matter of speech when Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings say that the empty breath fills you with emptiness. It does not supply you with anything. But it exposes the body as nothing covered by an experience as if it is something. The same applies to any experience you have. They are nothing disguised as something. Acknowledging this, you are not bothered by something. That is why it is so blissful to be with the empty breath.

Should you forget to go up and down with the empty breath, there is no reason to blame yourself because there is no self. It takes more than one to be or have a self, and there is no more than that which is One. Thus being someone is make-believe. Of course, that also applies to being connected with the empty breath. Nevertheless, it does not establish you as something because it gives you nothing. Hence what you believe in being is exposed as unreal.

Since the empty breath sees nothing but emptiness where you believe to see something, it has no need to be free from anything or be recognised as something. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

RELATING TO THE NOTHINGNESS OF THE EMPTY BREATH AS SOMETHING
It may be easier to remind yourself about the nothingness of the empty breath by relating to it via something. For example, sometimes Alexius calls it Uma, the name of his beloved cat. She is dead, thus not appearing as something but nothing like the empty breath, so the memory of her hooked up with the empty breath is like a laser of nothing going through his perceived obstacles of something in the body. Hence nothing stops him from feeling the connection with the empty breath.

The indifference of ‘the empty breath’

Updated July 14, 2023

Everything fabricated, such as this illustration of a yin-yang sign, is supposed to have a special appearance to supply the belief that you experience something. But this is not the purpose of the empty breath. On the contrary, its purpose is to undo the belief in experiencing something. It does this by helping you see that the apparent difference between appearances does not make a difference. Therefore, since there is no separation to establish an experience of something, you are in the bliss of nothing. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

The connectedness with the empty breath – via surfing its yin-yang-shaped waves, or being in its transparent sound, the swing of it, or the non-rhythmic energy behind the rhythm of it (read more about these ways here) – is not something that can be fabricated like, for example, a romantic evening generated by candles, unique clothes, music and red wine. On the contrary, you feel the empty breath when not busy trying to construct a specific feeling but instead going with your frenetic energy into the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You miss it if you expect to get something from the empty breath because it has not anything to give but the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The less you believe in being substantial, the more you feel the non-rhythmic transparent energy of the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being connected with the empty breath, you may experience that it imprisons you, but that is a projection based on feeling confined.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since you depend on continually being acknowledged as someone definitive by somebody perceived outside you in a physical, astral or online world, you feel imprisoned and want to break out.

But the empty breath has no need to be something definitive, so going with its flow – no matter how it is experienced – you go with its indifference. Hence the apparent difference between feeling free or imprisoned is not perceived to make a difference.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There are several established ways of feeling somebody else when you believe to be someone substantial in a tangible world. But there are no ways to feel the empty breath other than momentarily not feeling what you believe in being.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Please do not take the comparison of the inner breath to an yin yang sign too literally. An yin yang sign is all too simplified to really illustrate the inner breath.Yet it might give you an idea about the inner breath, which can also be compared to a spiral like the galaxy in this image, that the stylish yin yang sign might a simplified version of.

The comparison of the empty breath with a yin-yang sign should not be taken literally. A yin-yang sign is too simplified to illustrate the empty breath, which rather is to be compared to the galaxy in this image. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

When you are connected with a Fitbit watch, for example, it is not the connection that gives you a fantastic feeling but the data it gives you.

Likewise, you may not feel excited about the connection with the empty breath because its radiance of indifference makes you indifferent to the apparent differences you experience. But since this exposes them as empty, you get the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If the body seems to get better when you connect with the empty breath, it is not due to that – at least not directly – because the empty breath does not know something that needs improvement. Indirectly though, it is due to the empty breath. In its presence, you forget to manipulate your body with non-physical concepts like mindfulness. Thus the body is free to heal itself. Read more about that in Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the empty breath has no personality, it has no personal expression. So if its rhythmic flow is experienced to be weaker when you feel sick or about to die, its rhythm constantly adjusts to what you believe in being. Nevertheless, the operator of the empty breath (see the paragraph of the same name in What does the empty breath feel like?), which is the non-rhythmic energy behind the rhythm of the empty breath, remains the same. However, you may choose not to experience the empty breath when the body is troubled because that makes you indifferent to the body, thus questioning your belief in residing there.

That does not mean you should not take care of the body and have it checked by a qualified healthcare professional occasionally. You also bring your car to a garage for a check-up, even though it is not you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The energy at the root of the inner breath may be experienced a bit like this, but in less defined forms and colors.

The energy at the root of the empty breath can be experienced like this, but in less defined forms and without any notion of colours. The animation is grabbed from the web.

Even though the empty breath, theoretically speaking, should produce a constant rhythm of expansion and contraction in the body, your experience of it may not be that it is consistent. And you are right. It does not care about consistency – only those who insist on being definitive need coherence.

The empty breath can be compared to the cats in Alexius’ home. They go around as it pleases them. Yet he always counts on them to greet him when he gives a call. Likewise, he always feels the empty breath in one way or another. For example, maybe he surfs a single wave in one of the circles inside the empty breath several times in a row, whereafter he feels the swing of it in his head, and then he surfs both of the yin-yang-looking waves in one of the other circles of the empty breath. In the previous article, What does the empty breath feel like, you can read more about these ways of experiencing the empty breath.

After igniting a take-off into the empty breath, he often lands in its speedy and chaotic flow at the root of it, which feels like freedom compared to the rigid world of the outward-facing senses. Going to bed, the transparency of its sound often comes to him. But first of all, he feels the indifference of the empty breath. However, since the apparent differences in the world do not appear to make a difference, it is hardly a feeling.

In the flow of Nordic Walking you probably forget to think about something specific, thus igniting a take-off into the empty breath. On the other hand, holding onto something specific may expose the defence mechanisms you have built up in the body against the flow of the empty breath.

That is not to say all these defence mechanisms must come to an end to feel the empty breath. Actually, if you do not suppress their inherent energy, it will ignite a take-off into the empty breath. However, the willingness not to be somebody is sufficient. Read more about that in Willingness not to exclude but include undoes the belief in a world where there seems to be more than one.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The nature of the empty breath is not to provide happiness but indifference, and since that releases you from the suffering induced by separation, it may feel as if you are in a merry-go-round world.

However, feelings never last, so if you hang onto pleasure instead of being in the flow of indifference, your merry-go-round world will be replaced by a world of sadness. That is because you mistook the empty breath for the giver of pleasure instead of indifference. But if you go with the latter, it makes no difference if you feel happy or sad because you are in the bliss of nothing.

Not being aware of something, you are not numbed by an experience of yourself as someone definitive but, instead, in the bliss of nothing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Feeling the empty breath is like receiving a new gift every moment. However, there is no way to know what it is beforehand, and neither do you know when you get it because the empty breath brings you into a state of not-knowing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When connected with the empty breath, what you seem to receive from the world is always the same because you receive what you give and give what you have, namely the indifference of the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Feeling the connectedness with the empty breath, you cannot help but smile because, in its flow, you are indifferent to becoming and getting more.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the empty breath is indifferent to differences, being loved does not make a difference.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You may not always have the experience that the empty breath is your best friend because it does not help you regarding what and where you want to be. Instead, it enables you to see everything through its eyes of indifference, so you feel good no matter what and where you appear.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As you probably have read in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings many times, it requires more than one to experience something. Therefore, since oneness is formless, thus endless, every experience is fictional. That also includes the experience of the empty breath. It is as unreal as anything else experienced.

Yet this experience, which is deeply rooted in an archetypical image of a never-ending rhythmic flow, slowly but surely undoes the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is One. Furthermore, it becomes unproblematic to have this belief because you are not troubled by something but indifferent to it.

If this feels confusing, do not try to figure it out. But go with the chaos until you cannot make ends meet and feel like you are about to explode, thus, having the build-up of tensions igniting a take-off into the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being connected with the empty breath, you are indifferent to the apparent differences in a world where there seems to be more than one – like you are indifferent to the experienced differences in a computer game because you know they are make-believe. However, if you once were connected with the empty breath, it always remembers you. So when you forget its bliss of nothing, the empty breath syncs the inward and outward-facing senses (read more about that here) to make you indifferent to a specific interpretation of something, thus in the duality flow. See Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

What does ‘the empty breath’ feel like?

Updated June 21, 2023

The inner breath is not restricted to be felt as a specific form, neither to only be felt inside. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Since the empty breath is not definitive, it cannot be experienced in a specific way. But it can be felt in undefinable ways anywhere within its non-definitive framework – whether that appears to be inside or outside the body – but never consistently the same, although it is always present.

You can feel the empty breath in many ways within its non-definable frame of a ball-like thingy. Its top passes through the head, and the bottom through the stomach. But the ball may be bigger or smaller. See below. It is not explicitly experienced inside or outside the body, so it is not an out-of-body experience. Besides, such an experience is based on the belief in being someone in a body, and the empty breath undoes that idea, so it is a no-body experience. However, that does not mean you do not take care of the body and the world around it when connected with the empty breath, but that you are indifferent to the outcome.

In the connectedness with the empty breath there is nothing that appears disturbing. But trying to connect with it everything seems disturbing, because the purpose of trying to do something is to delay it.

The inner breath has no definitive center or anything else in a fixed position, so your experience of it may be different from mine. Maybe you primarily experience it in the stomach, in the chest or both inside and outside of your body within the non definitive borders of a ball. It may change from moment to moment, as  – unlike this image – it is not static. This image however illustrates when all its movements are experienced simultaneously, which feels as if the everything stands still.

The empty breath has no definitive centre or border, nor is anything else fixed. Everything is constantly moving, so the experience changes from moment to moment. Maybe it is felt in the stomach or chest or outside the body. Should your experience differ from Alexius’ description, go with the flow as it comes to you.

FEELINGS ARE SUBJECTIVE
If you are future-minded, you might experience the empty breath starting in front of you, whereas it probably is felt to arrive from the back if you are concerned about the past. And if you are into the concepts like living in the now, being centred and balanced, it might feel like it has a centre. In other words, the experience of the empty breath is coloured by your conditioning.

That is not a problem for the empty breath because, contrary to you, it does not need to be acknowledged in a particular way. So whether you experience it in the stomach, the chest, or outside the body, it carries out its purpose: to make you indifferent to your experiences.

The empty breath is indifferent to all the apparent differences of the world, so the more you connect with it, the more you adapt to its indifference and the less you want to be someone who makes a difference.

Since the empty breath is not static, its experience may quickly change and differ from those described below. No worries, connecting with it is not about doing something specific to feel something definitive but going with the flow. You only feel obliged to do ‘the right thing’ when you want to make a difference.

I am not a talented illustrator, so instead of making an illustration of the inner breath, I have manipulated an image found on the internet in order to give you an idea of the simultaneously movements inside it.

Alexius has manipulated this scientific illustration from the internet to give you an idea of the simultaneously circular movements inside the non-definitive ball of the empty breath.

A BASIC INTRO TO THE NON-DEFINITIVE SHAPE OF THE THE EMPTY BREATH
The empty breath is modelled like an egg-shaped ball with oval circles moving inside it. But contrary to what you see in the illustration to the right, it does not have a definitive centre or border. Nor do the circles inside it. They are countless, and there are two yin-yang-shaped waves inside each one. You cannot see the waves inside the circles in the simplified illustration to the right. But in the second image from here, there is a sample of two waves inside one of the circles.

That the empty breath has a non-definitive form does not only mean its edge is blurry but that neither size nor shape is constant. It may get bigger and smaller here and there, so it momentarily feels more pear-shaped than egg-shaped. But it has no up and down, and the apparent centre of each circle inside the non-definitive ball of the empty breath is floating. Hence there are many non-fixed centres.

The innumerable amount of diffused shaped circles inside the non-definitive boundary of the empty breath is located vertically and horizontally, plus in between, with each of them having yin-yang-shaped waves inside them. There is an illustration of the yin-yang-shaped waves inside one of the circles in the below paragraph SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH. But the circles are actually fused into one yin-yang-shaped movement rolling in all directions – a bit like in the animation in the paragraph THE SWING OF THE EMPTY BREATH or the two last animations of this article.

However, since that is very difficult to comprehend in a world where we are conditioned to divide reality into more than one, most do not feel the totality of the empty breath but one of the many circles inside it. No worries. It is not about perfection but going with the flow as it comes to you.

The empty breath has no specific centre, and though it seems to consist of endless circles in various movements, everything is fused into one single move. But since this is hard to comprehend in a world where there seems to be more than one, you may find it easier to deal with one circle at a time.

Maybe the flow is a circle going vertically from the stomach around the back of the body to the top of the head when breathing in, and from there, in a circular movement in front of the body and back to the stomach when breathing out. Or it could also be in the opposite direction. It does not matter. As already said, it is about going with the flow, so follow it where it goes.

Perhaps it goes in a circle, about the same diameter as above, from the abdomen to the throat and back or the rectum to the heart and back. The circle can also expand its diameter, so it goes from the abdomen to a point above the head and back or from the rectum further above the head and back. Since the latter circle metaphorically goes from hell to heaven, you may feel frightened or spaced out if you get stuck in one of those extremes. See Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

But the circle may be smaller, from the heart to a point above the head. Or perhaps you do not feel the flow in a vertical circle from the back to the front of you but from the left to the right side or anywhere between these two. You can also feel it horizontally. But no matter where you perceive the empty breath, it is the same emptiness you encounter.

Below is a short introduction to some ways of feeling the empty breath, then a more detailed description. Be aware that feeling the empty breath, as described in this article, is only possible if you do not wish to be or have more because the empty breath has nothing to give but the sheer bliss of emptiness.

A BASIC INTRO TO FOUR WAYS OF FEELING THE EMPTY BREATH
Sensing the operator of the empty breath (see below) feels like you are floating on clouds of bliss. In contrast, going with the rhythmic flow of the empty breath is more like being moved by clouds of bliss.

The rhythmic flow can be heard as a distant sound or felt like a swing (see below). It can also be sensed as if nobody is surfing two yin-yang-like waves in and outside the body (see the next paragraph).

These categories are not meant to limit your experience of the empty breath but to inspire you to follow its flow.

d76fd0833b28d1db146c08a2dd2057d91-2

Each non-definable circle inside the cloudy ball of the empty breath – see the previous illustration – consists of two free-flowing yin-yang-like waves (without holes). It may feel like you are surfing these waves, more or less in sync with the physical breath. The colours in this image only have an illustrative purpose.

SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH
You see a simplified simulation of the empty breath in the illustration with the red circles pictured to the right above. But the circles are not actually red, and there are an endless number of them. And the drawing does not reflect that the empty breath has no definitive border or centre, and each circle inside it contains two non-definitive yin-yang-shaped wave holes (see the above image). They are colourless. The colours in this image and the others in the article only have an illustrative purpose.

When the breath expands the body, you surf the outside of the blue wave vertically from the stomach and behind the body up into the head. From there, you surf the outside of the yellow wave in front of the body down to the stomach while the breath is contracting the body. That is, if you are sensing the waves in a circle going vertically from the back to the front of the body. But, as mentioned above, the direction does not matter, and the circle can be smaller and bigger. Besides surfing the two yin-yang-like waves in a vertical circle, you can surf the waves in a horizontal circle or anywhere between.

No need to be in total sync with the rhythm of the physical expansion and contraction of the body, nor does it matter if part of the empty breath’s circular movement is skipped. What matters is you follow the flow as it comes to you. By doing that, you forget the physical breath. Hence it can take care of itself without you trying to inflict it with ideas of balance and whatnot.

Maybe the ecstatic way to surf the waves is to go the whole way around one of them and then continue by going the entire way around the other, more or less aligned with the breath extracting and contracting the body. However, many other joyous ways are probably revealed when you are in the flow.

Alexius has never been surfing in the world of the outward-facing senses, so when he says going with the flow of the two yin-yang like waves in a circle inside the empty breath feels like surfing, it is something he imagines based on movies.

As already said, you can surf the waves of the empty breath in both directions. Going counterclockwise tends to lessen physical awareness, so you become less interested in returning to the conscious experience of being someone substantial in a tangible world. The same applies if the non-definable edges of the empty breath are not experienced to pass through the head but on top of it and below the abdomen.

That sets the body free, so it can follow its biological system without you trying to integrate it with mental ideas of wellness. It is like trying to blend the material world with the immaterial world of a dream or vice versa. It does not work. Read more about that in Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix. However, you can surf the waves of the empty breath to ease pain in the body. See the appendix at the bottom.

Since it takes more than one to feel something, it is only in a world where there seems to be more than one it is possible to do that. Therefore, the more the belief in such a world is undone by the empty breath, the less you feel it.

It is impossible to illustrate the swing of the empty breath because it has no definable form or movement. Nevertheless, this animation may give you an idea. The swing of the empty breath is generated from the blurred curved line in the middle of the picture. But even though going with the swing of it is magnificent, it is often a laid-back experience of expansion and contraction.

THE SWING OF THE EMPTY BREATH
You surf the empty breath on the waves in any of the circles within the non-definitive border of the empty breath. But you feel the swing of the empty breath from the movement of the non-definitive curved line between the two yin-yang-like waves in any of the circles (see the curved line in the illustration to the left). Perhaps due to the definitive size of the body, the curved line in the swing of the empty breath feels less bowed and probably shorter than the rounded line between the two waves described above.

The swing of the empty breath extracts and contracts the body in a steady rhythmic flow of breathing in and out that may seem slower than when you imagined being in charge of the breath. And the break in between expansion and contraction may feel longer. Nevertheless, the swing of the empty breath probably feels more powerful – so much indeed that it feels like the body does not have enough room for it at first, even though it swings nothing but emptiness.

The curved line does not just swing from the back to front concerning the body but also up and down, from side to side and everywhere in between, which you may sense in the illustration to the left. Though you can feel all these directions simultaneously, it probably is so unfamiliar that you may prefer to feel the swing of the empty breath in one vertical circle at a time.

The circles with the swing of the empty breath are more egg-shaped (see the illustration to the left). But you will not notice that because it is only the swing of the curved line inside ‘the egg’ that you feel, probably in a way that does not seem logical. For example, breathing in, you may solely experience the swing of the empty breath at the bottom of ‘the egg’ and breathing out at the top of it – or the other way around, or only in the bottom, or the top. You can also experience the curved line going repeatedly or up and down simultaneously.

Like the other ways of feeling the empty breath, it presupposes you acknowledge you are not in charge. Using the technique for the taste of oneness, you automatically lose control because, whether you taste it, the method is beneficial for defocusing. And without focus, you are out of control. Read about the taste of oneness and defocus in The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them.

If you experience the swing of the empty breath in all the egg-shaped circles simultaneously, their fusion initially feels like everything is spinning. See the speedy animation just below. But it quickly becomes a feeling of everything standing so still that you feel the bliss of being indifferent to what and where you appear to be.

Connecting to the inner breath is fortunately not about perfection, as that requires much control and therefore blocks the inner breath to move on its own accord. The inner breath is always connected to you, but you cannot feel it if your purpose is to be someone definitive. In other words not being anybody the inner breath is not hidden. In fact it is very intense.

The swing of the empty breath is not felt as fast as the movements in this animation but rather like a steady ongoing rhythm with much force that expands and contracts the body. Yet the resulting breath in the body is often very subtle. It probably seems slower than you are used to – unlike the operator of the empty breath, which is a rush of energy within the non-definable ball that constitutes the empty breath. Even though the particles of this force are moving completely unstructured and at any speed, fast or slow – a bit like in this animation – it is such a relief to merge with this apparent chaos because that prevents you from focussing on anything specific. Hence you feel like a fountain of sparkling joy.

THE OPERATOR OF THE EMPTY BREATH
Besides feeling the swing of the empty breath or surfing its yin-yang-like waves more or less in alignment with the extraction and contraction of the physical breath, you can also feel a constant rush of energy within the non-definable border of the empty breath. This chaotic energy is not rhythmic but irregular at the root of the empty breath. Yet, it is the force behind the constant rhythm of the empty breath. The feeling is a subtle sense of being here and everywhere, or as if spinning through a world with no limits, undefined as someone.

There are no rules, but it could very well be that a take-off into the empty breath will take you to the operator of the empty breath – and what a relief it is to float in chaos instead of having to fit into the rigid world of the outward-facing senses.

Unlike the swing of the empty breath, but like surfing its waves, the operator of the empty breath is sensed inside and outside the body – or rather like there is no inside and outside. When you do not try to catch this abstractness, it feels like you are a fountain of sparkling joy. Sometimes it is easier to recognise outside, where the dense bodily feeling is not an obstacle. You will automatically be taken inside from there because the operator does not know one from the other. Next, you may start surfing the empty breath, feel the swing of it or hear its transparent sound (see the next paragraph).

Hearing/feeling the sound of the inner breath, you feel transparent, as if there is nothing to separate you from where you appear to be. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Hearing or feeling the sound of the empty breath makes you seem transparent as if nothing is separating you from other appearances in the world of the outward-facing senses. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

THE TRANSPARENT SOUND OF THE EMPTY BREATH
Just like the rhythm of bass is heard and felt in the body, so is the sound of the empty breath, which is like ‘so’ when it expands and ‘ham’ when it contracts.

Sometimes it is like this rhythmic sound of ‘so-ham’ comes from the nose, but at other times, it is sensed from an undefined space in the back of the head. And then again, since the sound does not seem to have a definable location, it is neither experienced to be inside nor outside the head. It may even appear to originate from an invisible space outside the body that has nothing to do with it.

In other words, feeling the sound of the empty breath is not a compelling experience because it cancels out the notion of being in a body – as if there is no definable border between the body and its apparent surrounding. For example, a sofa does not seem to differ from a body sitting there when deeply connected with the empty breath. Consequently, since there is no inside and outside, there is nothing to define a world where there seems to be more than one, wherefore it is seen as make-believe.

But like the set-up in a game world is the same whether you know it is fictional, a world where there seems to be more than one remains the same even though you sense it is an illusion. However, your relationship with it changes. Appearing there is pretence, like when you pretend to be someone in the world of a game. See hack #2 Pretending to be in a world of duality, you undo it.

ello-optimized-08ff975b

Do not get attached to the rhythm of the empty breath, because the feeling of the rhythm is related to the body, so it stops when the body does not function anymore.

Since a rhythm has a beginning and an end, it is best not to get attached to the rhythm of the empty breath, because it ends when the body stops to function. At that moment, it is better to merge with the indifference of the empty breath or the non rhythmic and very chaotic energy in its operator, so there is not something specific to stop the Enlightenment of that which is One from absorbing the nothingness of you. See hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One.

Via the transparent sound of the empty breath, you naturally float into glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. See hack #11 Enlightenment and its glimpses. The visual-minded will experience them as visions of light, and the auditory-minded as ethereal harmonies. However, if you are more emotional-minded, you may feel the vibration that Aum, Sohang, and The Word of God symbolise or taste its sweetness.

The connection with the empty breath is a state of not-knowing. Therefore, since there is no notion of separation, the apparent difference between past, now and future makes no difference.

It is not possible to illustrate the inner breath in its totality. This yon yang animation (please abstract from the holes) though may give you an idea of the simultaneously movement of the two waves inside the inner breath.

It is not possible to illustrate the empty breath in its totality. But this yin-yang animation (please ignore the holes in the waves and imagine it is completely full of yin-yang-like waves) may give you an idea about the simultaneous movement of the waves inside it.

THE CONNECTEDNESS WITH THE EMPTY BREATH IS A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
Nobody knows what the connectedness with the empty breath feels like because it is a state of not-knowing. So Alexius had to go back and forth between a state of not-knowing and the conscious experience of being someone to compile his distant memories of how the empty breath feels. Hence, his writing about it may seem patchy and confusing. If so, do not try to correct your disorientation but use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. See also Take-offs into the empty breath and How to ignite a take-off into the empty breath..

Please remember that even though the connectedness with the empty breath is impersonal, your memory of it is personal. Therefore, you may not remember it as Alexius.

If you are still confused, you are welcome to mail Alexius, although using your uncertainty to ignite a take-off into the empty breath is preferable because he can help neither you nor himself, as he sees nobody in need of help.

Hence you are better off reading about the empty breath until you can hardly stay awake. Then go to bed, forget what you read, close your eyes, and patiently wait for the empty breath. But your eyes do not have to be closed, and you do not have to go to bed to connect with the empty breath. Besides, you can sit anywhere in any position. You can also walk, run or talk. But you cannot bring about the empty breath by manipulating the physical breath or exercising any other form of control. Instead, it is the other way around. When you are not in control, the empty breath joins you.

A bicycle has nothing to do with the place, it takes you.

That is not to say that techniques cannot help you tone down the experience of being someone definitive so that your apparent existence in a tangible world is exposed as make-believe. But unfortunately, most forget that techniques have nothing to do with their accomplishments. Like the remote control, it has nothing to do with the music it triggers.

The swing of the inner breath may be experienced abruptly – like in this animation but probably a lot slower – in a s body with muscles problems from for example psoas or diafragma. There is no reason though trying to make it swing more smoothly by improving the condition of the body. The inner breath always adjust itself to the current condition of the body, so no matter how it moves it results in the same joy, providing you are not looking to be perfect. In a sick body, the swing of the empty breath might be experienced to come in bursts – a bit like in this animation but probably slower. However, no matter how restricted the swing of it is experienced, connecting with it will always entail indifference. Therefore, sticking to that, how the empty breath is experienced makes no difference.

APPENDIX: SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH TO HEAL YOUR PROBLEMS
Alexius usually join the flow of the empty breath without thinking about directions and whatnot because, in his case, it primarily results in a sense of indifference. However, it is possible to be pickier. For example, if you worry about a strange pain in the back, you can have it massaged by continuously surfing the whole wave behind you but not the wave in front of you in a vertical circle. It may not make the pain go away but surely the worry. And without that, the pain may be easy to fix. See Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix.

Should you want to be grounded, you surf the waves in a horizontal circle, passing through the abdomen or even lower. Suppose you want to enhance being impulsive. In that case, you surf all the way around the wave to the right inside a horizontal circle going around the head. If you want to be more calculated, surf the left wave instead.

In a circle that also is horizontal but around the chest, you can surf all around a wave in front of the chest to ease the restricted feeling caused by imagined emotions there. Surfing both waves in a horizontal circle around the head or stomach is excellent in the case of vertigo.

Sometimes problems like spasms are the body’s way of shaking parts into a position that benefits the whole. In such cases, spasms should be left course. But if that is not the case, you can use the empty breath to calm down the spasms.

Should you have tight hips, a blocked abdomen or spasms in the lower back, you surf the whole wave behind you and then the one in front of you in a horizontal circle in that area. You could also try surfing in a similar circle where the waves are not behind and in front of you but on your sides. The circle size, thus the waves, adjusts to the need for relaxing these areas.

The empty breath is also beneficial for alleviating allergy symptoms or the symptoms of IBS and COPD, for example. However, it may not heal these or the aforementioned physical sicknesses because Alexius’ Duality Hacks aims not to heal the body but the sick belief that someone is in it. Read more about that here. But since that frees the body from your domination, it often heals itself. That said, if this is what you want, it is best not to use the empty breath but instead be used by it and trust that it gives you what is in your best interest.

The look of these sound waves reminds me in some ways of how it feels to be connected with the inner breath.

The look of these sound waves reminds Alexius of how the connectedness with the empty breath often feels and how that makes him indifferent to the apparent differences in the world experienced outside him.

NOTE ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATIONS
Alexius searched the web for animations and still photos to illustrate the movements of the empty breath in how he remembers them. He does not know if the illustrators had the empty breath in mind when they made these images – but probably not. Except for the last three, the animations are grabbed from Electromagnetic Plasma Energy Light.

How to ignite a take-off into ‘the empty breath’

Updated May 30, 2023

When not trying to make sense of this image but going with its absurdity, the free-flowing energy of the experience spontaneously ignites a take-off into the empty breath and its bliss of nothing, provided there is a willingness to forget what you believe in being. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

PREFACE
The music you hear via AirPlay travels in the air for more than a second to reach your speaker. So if you want to listen to the origin, you must go back in time and enter the media, from where the music comes. But it contains nothing but combinations of zeros and ones. So they make no sounds before an app created by another combination of ones and zeros translates them into something it can transmit to your speaker, reproducing it as vibrations perceived as music.

Doing this does not involve a soul or anything mystical. It is purely mechanical – likewise, when the brain uses one second to twist nothing into an experience of something that seems to establish you as someone substantial in a tangible world.

IT TAKES ONE SECOND TO CONNECT WITH THE EMPTY BREATH
As soon as you have had enough of the frustration that comes from keeping together a special image of yourself and you do not try to edit or transform your feeling of desperation, the raw energy automatically ignites a take-off
into the empty breath. Since it resides in nothing and the brain has used one second to process your current experience of something from what it imagined seeing in nothing (read more about that here), the take-off into the empty breath only takes one second.

In other words, when you connect with the empty breath, you go back one second in linear time to the nothingness the brain twisted into your present experience of something, which you perceive with the empty breath as nothing. Therefore, since there is not something to confirm you as someone, you are in the bliss of nothing.

But you probably fend off the nothingness of the empty breath by forcing the physical breath through your body to feel it is something. However, when you stop fighting the empty breath, it passes what you perceive as something as nothing.

That said, the function of the empty breath is not to heal the body but the sick belief in being in it. Still, as a side-effect, the empty breath may heal the painful areas in the body by approaching them in the nothingness from where the brain produces the pain. However, that does not mean the body should not be taken care of while you believe in residing there. So do not hesitate to seek medical attention or any other help the world can offer for your continence as a substantial being.

What you believe in being is nothing twisted into something by the brain. In the presence of the empty breath, which is nothing unprocessed by the brain, you become indifferent to the brain’s experiences of something. Therefore, since there is not something to define you as someone, you are in a state of not-knowing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

SPEEDINESS, NOT CALMNESS, IGNITES THE EMPTY BREATH
Although it probably was unaltered speed and chaos that connected you with the empty breath, it is not a speedy or chaotic affair being connected. Think of being high up in the sky in an aeroplane. Even though speed ignited the take-off and must be maintained to keep the aircraft in the air, speed is not what you feel but a relaxed experience of floating in the air.

Regarding speed, whether connected with the empty breath or not, we are always moving extremely fast because the Earth is spinning at 1.000 miles an hour, and the entire planet is hurtling around the sun at 67.000 miles an hour. However, since most maintain a definitive perception of themselves, they become stagnant, thus unable to feel this speediness and use to use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. That is why Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath, is mainly about using our suppressed energy for take-off into the empty breath.

Let us imagine, you have covered your eyes with your hand to daydream about a world where everything turns out the way you want. It feels great but you start doubting it is real because you hear sounds from a world outside you. So when you want to see what that is, and you sense your own is the obstacle, you automatically remove it to see what it hides.

You may sense the bare feet you imagine have made the footprints in this photo and the body they belong to. Yet there are no feet or body in the image, and nobody makes footprints like in the picture. Hence what you sense is a fantasy. Read more about that here. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

HAVING HAD ENOUGH IGNITES A TAKE-OFF INTO THE EMPTY BREATH
The story in the above box resembles how a take-off into the empty breath is ignited.  The hand symbolises selected thoughts organised into a spiritual or mundane vocabulary that you share with like-minded ones to establish you as real and not a fantasy of the brain.

You loosen the grip on vocabulary when you feel imprisoned by it. Next, you use the energy suppressed by the vocabulary to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. In its emptiness, you still appear as someone in a make-believe world. But since you are there with the empty breath, you are not attributed with a specific meaning, thus in a state of not-knowing. See A state of not-knowing and the after-effect.

The empty breath cannot be experienced as something definitive because it resides in the nothingness unprocessed by the brain. Hence you do not notice it if you want to experience something specific.

If you are confused about how to connect with the empty breath, do not try to clear up the turmoil but go with its unedited energy to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. You can read more about that in the previous and following articles of Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath.

But be aware that you will never know how to connect with the empty breath. It is not something but nothing, and you cannot learn how to connect with nothing. However, if you forget what you know, you do not need to connect with it because there does not appear to be something hiding that you are nothing.

APPENDIX
The connectedness with the empty breath does not come from meditating, chanting, or any other self-control technique because control enhances the belief in being someone definitive.

Take-offs into ‘the empty breath’

Updated June 21, 2023

You can use any speedy thought or feeling, whether seen as positive or negative, to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In this hack, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings introduce the outward and inward-facing senses. The latter is perceived as inside and abstract, the former as outside and material, but the sensory system is the same (read more about that here). However, they are not similar to the physical and psychological area, which are the brain’s differentiation of physical and non-physical matters in the world of the outward-facing senses. See Duality Hack #7 Seeing duality as a symbol of non-duality.

TO IGNITE A TAKE-OFF TO THE EMPTY BREATH
Success and failure in the world of the outward-facing senses tend to speed up thoughts and feelings. The stress that this entails some tries to fix by meditating. But it often has the opposite effect, bringing about more thoughts and feelings. Read more about that here.

The fastest way to not be bothered by speedy thoughts and feelings is not to stop them but to have their raw energy of unsuppressed chaos ignite a take-off into the empty breath. It immediately takes you into the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses, where the stressful speed of the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses does not appear annoying but soothing.

In other words, when stress is not suppressed in the world of the outward-facing senses, its unbound energy ignites a take-off into the empty breath. It syncs the substantial world of the outward-facing senses with the abstractness of the inward-facing senses, so the latter becomes the foundation for perceiving the world of the outward-facing senses.

And since the inward-facing senses vibrate at a high frequency, the experience of speedy thoughts and/or feelings in the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses does not seem disturbing when perceived from the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses. Thus hectically walking down the street feels like walking on clouds.

Except for the inward and outward-facing sense of sight, the sensory organs are the same for both. The difference between them is that the world of the inward-facing senses is relatively unprocessed by the brain, thus appearing abstract and as inside you. In contrast, the world of the outward-facing senses seems tangible and outside you. That said, what the brain receives from the sensory system is nothing twisted into something. In other words, all experiences are fantasy, including that the brain makes them because there is no more than that which is One, and it takes more than one to do something. But within the belief that there is more than that which is One, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings use this fantasy to expose everything experienced is an imagination nobody makes or has. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

WHERE IS THE EMPTY BREATH
It has taken the brain one second to produce your current experience of a world outside you, so if you go back one second, you get the unprocessed version of being someone who reads this now – at least theoretically speaking.

However, none of your experiences is based on information from the sensory system, as the brain claims, and most choose to believe because otherwise, it is evident they are processed from nothing, thus a fantasy. In other words, the unprocessed version of reading this is nothing twisted into something by the brain to make it look like someone reads something.

You meet the empty breath in the unprocessed nothingness. A split second before you reach it, you see the brain’s first attempt to turn nothing into something, which is the abstractness of the world of the inward-facing senses. Almost a second later, the brain has processed the abstractness into your current experience of being someone substantial in the tangible world of the outward-facing senses reading this.

You cannot experience the abstractness in the world of the inward-facing senses without partly being conscious of yourself as someone substantial. That is why the empty breath synchs the world of the inward and outward-facing senses, so you partly believe in being material. The only duality hack that immediately undoes this belief is hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One. All other duality hacks undo the belief in more than One over time. Therefore,l you can enjoy this belief while seeing it fading out. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When you connect with the empty breath, the image fabricated by your brain as someone definitive experienced through the outward-facing senses is downplayed but still in play – otherwise, there would not be somebody to experience the world of the inward-facing senses and the glimpses of the Enlightenment that may come. Read here how to have glimpses of Enlightenment. Your eyes do not need to be closed to experience them because the world of the outward-facing senses is automatically minimised.

You do not need to understand the explanations about the inward and outward-facing senses to connect with the empty breath. After all, they are not real but ways to explain the impossible, namely that the brain creates something from nothing. Nor do you have to recognise you are brought back one second in linear time to be with the empty breath. On the contrary, the less you know, the easier it is because you connect with the empty breath by not doing anything about how you feel, so its unedited energy can ignite a take-off into the empty breath and, in one second, fill you with the bliss of nothing.

If you insist on connecting with the empty breath in your own way and pace, you you do not meet it, because you are not in charge of anything except how you perceive it. See Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain.

In other words, you must be willing to go with the rapid flow of chaos to ignite the empty breath, which, realistically speaking, means you should acknowledge you are not ready for that. More about how unwillingness leads to willingness here.

If you want to connect with the empty breath, do not try to collect data from this article into something meaningful but go with the uncertainty you may feel from reading it. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

UNEDITED ISSUES IGNITE A TAKE-OFF INTO THE EMPTY BREATH
Any unedited experience of tension in the body or psyche will ignite a take-off into the empty breath. It is as easy as going with the flow of erotic energy until it explodes, and you are in another state of mind. Feeling depressed also works fine for igniting a take-off into the empty breath. Should it not seem easy to have unedited thoughts and feelings ignite a take-off into the empty breath, you can use music to set the explosive mood, for example, the first track on the album Burn from All will Surely Burn by Sons Of Kemet’s.

However, tensions and emotions do not magically disappear when connected with the empty breath. See, The body is made to deal with physical issues, not psychological ones. Nevertheless, nothing seems disturbing because the empty breath is indifferent to differences.

That does not mean you should stop taking medicine to ease hay fever, for example. On the contrary, it may help you to relax so you can face the stress and fear of feeling attacked, thus, having the violent experience ignites a take-off into the empty breath.

Take-off into the empty breath only works to the extent that you are not occupied with being or having more. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE EXPERIENCE OF THE EMPTY BREATH
The take-off into the empty breath may be experienced as a gentle explosion of accumulated thoughts and feelings at the top of the head as if it expands with nothing, so you do not differ from the empty breath.

Maybe you start experiencing the operator of the empty breath. See the paragraph of the same name in the article What does the empty breath feel like?. Or perhaps you go into the swing of the empty breath. See the section of the same name in the article What does the empty breath feel like? where you also can read about other ways of experiencing it. When feeling more physical again, the empty breath might be experienced as an engine pumping out emptiness from the gut or the chest. See, Going everywhere and nowhere with the empty breath.

But since the connectedness with the empty breath is a state of not-knowing, there is nobody to know that you are connected. That is why the descriptions of it in What does the empty breath feel like? are based on the memories popping up when he returns from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone.

There is no right way to feel the empty breath. At first, it may not be felt in the exciting ways Alexius describes in the article What does the empty breath feel like?. Or it may not be felt at all because its main attribute is indifference (read more about that here), which is not a feeling. However, not feeling the stress of believing to be someone definitive is a big relief.

If you, after reading the above, feel confused about what the empty breath is and how to connect with it, do not try to resolve the disorientation but remain in its intense energy of confusion until it ignites a take-off into the empty breath and you feel a big smile expanding everything.

Are you still confused and do not feel any connectedness with the empty breath, see the other articles in Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath.

The more something seems to speed up inside or outside and the less you try to stop or make sense of it, the quicker the empty breath is ignited. Since it is empty space, it recognises you are the same, thus filling you with the bliss of nothing. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

A NOTE ABOUT ALEXIUS
The methods described to connect with the empty breath are what Alexius has detected via his connection. Testing the take-offs before writing about them, he knows anything that seems irritating or exciting can be used to ignite a take-off into the empty breath, whether he sits on a bus, walk down a street, or whatnot.

So there is no need to repeat a mantra, be positive, or be still in unique surroundings with exceptional people to take off into the empty breath. Neither do you need to refrain from something or stop thoughts. Actually, they are the fuel for the take-off.

You undo the belief in duality by enjoying it

Updated July 7, 2023

Anything perceived as good is just as bad because everything comes in pairs of opposites in a world of duality. That is why you do not get the duality flow if you try to hold onto being hurt, for example, to prove you are a victim of somebody. But you get it if you go with the interplay of hurt and healthy, thus not seeing distinct but airy feelings in the duality flow. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may want to read Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix.

NO FEELINGS ARE SINGULAR:
The duality flow is not about the opposing elements in the duality pairs but their constant interaction. However, to join that, you start by acknowledging a distinct approach to an experience so you can perceive it as ‘it is what it is,’ thus revealing your specific response contains its opposite.

For example, there is hate inside love because they need each other to be defined, which they do by constantly interacting. Any minute though, hatred may show that it can also be defined by kindness. Then that twofoldness replaces the former until kindness reveals it can also complement selfishness. And so it goes until you want to be free, thus not being in the duality flow.

Believing you are free, although not knowing who you are, continues until you are fed up with the hectic stream of thoughts required to hide that you are nothing but a puppet of the brain made to enjoy its experiences of duality. Then, accepting that, you are back in the duality flow.

If you suffer because somebody has died, you stand by the discomfort so it can be perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that reveals your feeling is not singular but twofold, it goes not make you feel alone but together

This is a picture of Alexius’ beloved cat Uma, who died only eight months old and left Alexius crying for ages. Fortunately, weeping is coupled with happiness, so weeping made him remember all the happy times they had together and still have in the airy psychological sphere where they still meet. But, of course, that does not mean he does not miss her physical presence. But then again, that feeling of loss is in the psychological sphere, where she is, so he meets her again there. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

ALL FEELINGS ARE TWOFOLD
The first time Alexius experienced the duality flow was during a gentle but very physical massage years ago. Without thinking, he did not try to escape a particularly unpleasant feeling triggered by the massage but kept looking at it emotionally. Then, relatively quickly, it quietly opened up, and joy came out of it. However, it was not until much later that Alexius recognised the same happens if you perceive a specific feeling or opinion as ‘it is what it is’ because that reveals it contains its opposite.

Much later, that happened when Alexius’ cat, Uma, died. He immediately sensed something was off because a dead cat could not create the feeling of loss he felt in his body. Therefore, as the pain of loss could only be something he unconsciously had projected onto his body, he consciously brought it back into the psychological sphere, where the loss was revealed to be coupled with birth.

So although he had lost his cat physically, the loss was revealed to interact with birth in the psychological zone. Thus Uma kept coming and going mentally. Therefore, since Alexius got into the interaction of life and death in the psychological area, he felt happy/sad about his cat.

In other words, since the death of his beloved cat made it impossible for Alexius to project psychological issues on her physical being, his relationship with Uma returned to the psychological sphere, where it had always been and will remain until the experience of duality ends. That is not to say you should neglect the body. On the contrary, bringing back the mental issues projected onto physical entities into the psychological sphere frees the body from the idea of integrating it with love or other non-physical issues. Thus the body blossoms physically. Read more about Uma and Alexius here.

So if you want to feel good in a world of duality, do not use the body as a means to feel that. Happiness is in the psychological sphere, in an ongoing interaction with sadness. When you join their interplay, the duality flow vitalises you and your relationships in the psychological sphere.

Even though Alexius’ cat Uma (in the front of the pic) is dead, Alexius connects with her in the airy psychological sphere. Of course, he cannot physically see Uma there but feel what he experienced they had together. It is like listening to the ocean’s waves without seeing them. However, Alexius initially did not get in touch with what he remembered they had together but the sorrow of missing her. Fortunately, that was only until he realised his mourning for Uma contained her. The moment she died in his arms and any other moment with her remained in the psychological zone. Thus Uma is as close as she always was and will be. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

A FEELING ALWAYS HAS ITS OPPOSITE INSIDE
Having a singular feeling revealed as twofold is not an intellectual process. First, you perceive the specific feeling as ‘it is what it is.’ Second, in a state of expectation, calling for nothing specific, you patiently wait, maybe a minute. Third, your singular feeling opens up, and its opposite fills its space.

The transition is so gentle that you forget the first feeling. But unlike that, the opposite feeling does not seem singular because it is defined by the first one, which the new, completely different feeling then defines. And as both feelings are experienced via their opposite, they are not distinctive but dual. Their interplay is as automatic as breathing in and out. One automatically leads to the other. That is why you may forget the elements in a duality pair. However, you do not forget how well-grounded and beloved you feel in the interplay of opposites.

When you start perceiving your reaction to something as ‘it is what it is’, the revelation of its opposite side probably makes you speechless. But after a while, the collaboration of opposites, resulting in the duality flow, makes you feel dynamic. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

BEING VITALISED BY THE DUALITY FLOW
At first, you may get to the duality flow from the perception, ‘it is what it is,’ but after a while, you can recall it by memory. After all, it is one’s natural state of being in a world of duality. So, of course, you choose not to divide the duality pairs into distinct components seen at odds but instead enjoy the interaction of the opposing element in a duality pair to feel the abundance of twofoldness, not the scarcity of singularity. Occasionally it may take some time to see a duality pair work, for example, night and day.

Having said that, initially, Alexius mainly engaged in the revealed component of a duality pair instead of joining the interaction of opposing elements supporting each, like breathing in and out. But he could not help going with the duality flow after a while. He experiences it like being emptied by an ocean of waves gracefully going nowhere. But sometimes, it feels like a pendulum moving in different directions in the psychological sphere. Since feelings are personal, your experience of the duality flow may differ from Alexius.’ Nevertheless, you know you are in the duality flow when you keep smiling for no reason.

First, you imagine to dump your unwanted feelings in the body. Second, you perceive the body as tight so it seems to hide the feelings you imagined to stored there. Third, you interpret the tightened body as proof of having concealed your unwanted feelings in its darkness. Fourth, you forget all about it.

Listening to the ocean’s waves is like being in the duality flow. You feel vitalised. However, if you insist on doing things your way, you soon feel restless because many things must be adjusted to make it look like things are going your way. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

GOING WITH DUALITY
None of the opposing elements in the duality flow remains for long. You can compare it to a seesaw on a playground, where one person goes up as the other goes down. If you try holding onto the top by avoiding going down, the feeling you get is fake because you need to go back and forth to define what is up and down – just like there is nothing to describe breathing in if you do not breathe out.

Twofoldness is always the way in a world of duality. For example, walking requires two legs. And taking a step forward includes the past because it is the building stone for your future step. So if you exclude one of the legs, you cannot walk.

Likewise, if you exclude hate from love, you do not hit the road of duality, thus not getting the togetherness of twofoldness but the loneliness of singleness. The latter may feel like a non-concrete pain in the body, even though it does not come from there but from the psychological sphere. Inside it, you hold yourself spellbound by the idea that twofoldness can be separated into independent items and hate, therefore, can be separated from love.

Many people achieve this separation by projecting their hatred onto a vulnerable body part. Then they lure themselves into believing they have gotten rid of their psychological issue by feeling it as a physical problem in the weak part of the body. Finally, they render themselves unconscious of what they have done to see themselves as full of love. However, emotions are abstract, and bodies are substantial, so assuming you can dump hate in flesh and bones is absurd.

In other words, since you cannot remove your hatred from your awareness by hiding it in a vulnerable part of the body, the disturbance experienced in that part does not come from there but in the psychological sphere where you imagine to have buried it in the body. And since the psychological area is abstract, you do not solve the problem in something material, nor by changing your pattern.

Nothing needs to be changed. Instead, you need to see that every psychological feeling is twofold, and both are yours. You see that when perceiving the present feeling of disgust as ‘it is what it is’ because it reveals the disturbance interacting with peace to define each other as something you have in the psychological zone. Read more about that in Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix.

Realising that the world does not cause psychological feelings, you see they are yours, and you have them so they can interact, thus making you feel complete in the duality flow. Therefore, you do not need to suppress feelings to hold onto a self-made version of the world where the elements in the duality pairs fight each other instead of interacting.

Read more about the psychological sphere in The psychological zone is anywhere but in material things.

If you have made a story about the perfect romance, you adjust to your fantasy and expect the world to do the same. Thus creating a prison for yourself and others. But since a world of duality consists of nothing but fantasies, you are bound to make another story if you stop your romantic tale. And although the new one is judged better or more spiritual, it is just a change of conditioning. However, the problem is not your fantasies but that your response to them is definitive. When your response is dualistic, as supposed in a world of duality, you do not expect your stories to play out in a specific way. Therefore, since they do not imprison you, it is fun living your fantasies as they unfold themselves. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

EVERY STORY HAS AN END
If you consider food eaten at noon as lunch, you do not have food but a lunch story. That is one example of how our days consist of stories telling us how to behave. Besides, we adapt to the division of days as if time is real, not an agreed-upon construction to imprison us.

Fortunately, you do not have to stop or change your stories to find reality. Instead, perceive your reaction to any internal or external story as ‘it is what it is.’ Since it reveals your response is twofold, you join the duality flow, the interaction of opposites. That does not stop the story but makes you indifferent, thus not conditioned by your fantasy, wherefore being in a world of duality becomes entertaining. However, duality is also a story. But like all stories, it has an end, so the experience of it naturally stops when you live by it.

Doing that does not mean your home, spouse, and work, for example, must be twofold, but your response to your experience is twofold. You may have thought finding non-duality was a matter of singularity. But non-duality is neither singular nor anything else since that requires more than one. For the same reason, non-duality is not something you can find or realise.

Non-duality is oneness, and since it takes more than one to have a shape, it is formless, thus endless. Hence duality is make-believe.

However, when believing there is more than non-duality, thus experiencing a world of duality, you can realise this belief has a beginning and, therefore, an end. Hence, it is only a matter of time before the belief in duality does not seem to cover there is no more non-duality. The belief’s end comes faster when living per duality because you feel so complete in the duality flow that you soon forget to believe there is more than non-duality.

APPENDIX
Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings
are written within the concept of duality. They do not claim to be non-dual or to know what it is since that requires more than one. But they claim to know what is not non-dual, namely, everything experienced, because it takes more than one to be conscious of something.

Notes on ‘the duality flow’

Updated July 8, 2023

The basic self does not need to edit the experience of the world into something that complies with concepts of being together in harmony, balance or whatnot. On the contrary, since everything experienced is created by the brain, the basic self is together with everything, regardless of appearance. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

You constantly seek somebody to ratify your significance when you see yourself as special. But as closeness may reveal your need for others is egoistic, you substitute genuine feelings of togetherness with conceptualised ones. For example, you adjust to the table manners of a traditional dinner party to appear close without being intimate – or you get popcorn and a classic movie to rewatch with someone, thus looking close.

On the other hand, the basic self is not definitive but relative. Hence it automatically adjusts to the present as it is – also, if that seems frightening because fear is defined by calmness, which defines fear, so by experiencing them interacting, you feel the moment completely.

Practically speaking, you go with the interaction of these opposites by not seeing fear as a specific feeling. That is not done by avoiding it but by acknowledging it so you can perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals fear is not alone but constantly interacts with its opposite, calmness to define each other. And since twofoldness is the nature of dualism, this establishes you as someone in a duality world so you can hack it. Fortunately, going with the interaction of opposites, called the duality flow, you have fun hacking duality.

That said, when you are not interested in being special, thus going on automatic gear as the basic self, you do not have to perceive specific feelings as ‘it is what it is.’ The brain automatically does that. Maybe it does not perceive them using those words. But you know specific feelings are exposed as twofold because you cannot help laughing, feeling the duality flow.

However, you do not laugh when out of the duality flow because being stuck with specific feelings makes you nervous. Maybe it is as if you feel shaky somewhere in your body because, to feel specifically positive, you suppress your negativity by projecting it onto a vulnerable part of the body. But you do not need to know what you have hidden or where to solve feeling confined. If you perceive your reaction to it as ‘it is what it is,’ you see your response is twofold. Since that makes you feel complete, you have nothing to be upset about.

Read more about the basic self in Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Comparing the desire for something with the drawback of getting it is a typical interplay of opposites in a world of duality. Going with this interaction, you feel complete, thus indifferent to the outcome. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

You must judge something as inharmonious to know that you experience something else as harmonious. But since most people after that exclude the inharmonious, there is not something to define the harmonious experience. Consequently, what they get is an intellectual idea about harmony.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self expects others not to question its story of greatness but to adapt to it so that they appear ordinary and the special self original. It is its way of hiding that it feels inferior. However, if not hiding that, feeling worthless can be perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ Thus revealing it is coupled with feeling extraordinary to define worthless and vice versa, so you get genuine feelings, not conceptual ones.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In a world of duality, everything comes in pairs of opposites that interact with each other. Therefore, since nothing is definitive, you only appear empathic if you construct an image of yourself where its counterpart, hatred, has been left out. But without it, there is nothing to define empathy. Hence your empathy is a show.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you disassociate yourself from one of the elements in a duality pair by imagining dumping it in your body onto your body or seeing it as describing someone else, it becomes substantial, thus enduring instead of fleeting when in your psychological sphere. Thus you feel imprisoned. Fortunately, as you already know, perceiving your reaction as ‘it is what it is’ sets you free.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being with duality is easy when you stop holding onto something specific. That does not mean you cannot have a particular spouse but that your reaction to the relationship is twofold.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You either breathe in or out. One excludes the other. Yet, they pave the way for one another. That is the way of the duality pairs.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you want positivity, you must also welcome negativity because everything comes in pairs of opposites in a world of duality. In non-duality, you can neither have negative nor positive vibes because it requires more than one to have anything. Since that also applies to having a shape, non-duality is formless, thus endless, so a world of duality is an illusion. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

When your attitude to something is single-minded, you get a specific experience. But it does not last because everything comes in pairs of opposites in a world of duality. Therefore, feeling on top of it is soon replaced by feeling down. However, if your approach is dualistic, you do not aim for the top to avoid depression but go for the constant interplay of up and down. Although it may not feel as exciting as being at the top, there is no fear of falling because you are in the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The duality flow depends not on the specific elements in a duality pair but on the resilient energy between them – like the springy drive that makes a yoyo go up and down.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel you have nowhere to go and do not perceive it as a singular state of mind but a dualistic one containing nowhere and everywhere, you are in the duality flow. The same applies if you go with the interplay of irritation and relaxation. However, the duality flow is not about the elements in the duality pairs but their interaction. That is what makes you feel complete – just like the interplay of breathing in and out makes you feel alive.

And like the opposing elements in the breath depend on each other, so do the components in all duality pairs. Therefore, if you are not in the constant interplay of positivity and negativity, for example, what you believe in feeling when you claim to be positive is a concept conjured up by distancing yourself from negativity. But that is like separating yourself from either breathing in or out. You need them both to survive.

In short, in a world of duality, you keep the duality pairs intact to be vitalised by the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The satisfaction you get from being in the duality flow is unlike what you get from something specific because you are always afraid of losing it, whereas you cannot lose the duality flow. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

You do not have to choose between good and evil in the duality flow. They complement each other. Therefore, since one is not better than the other, there is nothing to judge, thus nothing to establish fear as a specific feeling. Instead, you notice that it interacts with trust.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In a world of duality, everything comes in pairs of opposing components that depend on each other. Thus splitting them into independent elements to hold onto just one of them and disassociate yourself from the other is impossible. Yet, it is possible to imagine you can get rid of your negativity by projecting it onto others, thus appearing solely cheerful yourself. However, you feel sluggish since this mental stance is achieved by repressing part of yourself. On the other hand, you feel energetic following the duality flow because twofoldness is the nature of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you are into being and having the best, the duality flow may be an experience of continuous movement between the best and the worst. Should you want to be spiritual, the motion is probably between that and materialism. The duality flow could also go between hope and hopelessness or between what you hold dear and fear.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the perception ‘it is what it is’ reveals that your response to something is twofold, and you are in a world of duality, it brings about completeness. However, as everything comes in pairs, completeness is coupled with incompleteness. No worries, you are neither whole nor fragmented but in the constant motion between these opposites – just like when one end of a see-saw goes up, the other goes down.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Should things not proceed as expected, when you are in the duality flow, you are not afraid of getting upset because you know everything comes in pairs. Therefore, since your concern is complemented by unconcern, the duality flow continues uninterrupted. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Accepting the constant interaction between up and down makes you laugh when reaching the top. And you cry going down, knowing you are on the way up. Thus having a splendid time going up and down in a world of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You can use unmanipulated breathing as a portal to the vibration AUM, Soham, and The Word of God symbolises (read about that here). And you can also use it to get in touch with the empty breath (see Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath). But basically, the breath is a manifestation of duality. Hence it is the easiest way to be in the duality flow. At least, theoretically speaking.

But practically speaking, most hang onto specific ideas and emotions to feel special by holding their breath, thus unable to go with its rhythmic flow, so they miss the duality flow. That is why Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings’ recommends perceiving your fixed judgments as ‘it is what it is’ so you see they are not static but very involved with their opponent. And since they do not fight but collaborate to define each other, their interplay makes you genuinely feel them, thus feeling complete as nobody special in the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since everything comes in pairs in a world of duality, there is no sense in searching for something specific. That is such a relief.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You become likeable when you do not hide what you do not like in yourself from your awareness by projecting it onto the body. That is the first step in healing a psychosomatic disorder. See Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Most of those who believe that negativity should be avoided, like using crystal stones for healing. But many of these stones, like Amethyst, heal by emitting negative ions producing biochemical reactions that create positive vibes/moods and relieve stress. And most infrared heating pads heal via negative ion generation.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Those who assume they suffer from a psychosomatic disorder have projected politically incorrect feelings like sexual lust, power strivings, greed, envy and anger onto vulnerable parts of the body, like some project offensive feelings onto the world.

However, since these emotions are abstract, they cannot be hidden in something tangible. Therefore, projecting abstract feelings onto something substantial only conceals them from your awareness. Nonetheless, most believe their problems are gone when out of sight. Just like an ostrich, according to myth, believes danger disappears when it buries its head in the sand.

This myth, though, is not valid. If an ostrich buries its head in the sand, it dies from a lack of air. And you wither from the lack of collaboration between positivity and negativity if you hide the latter from yourself with a head-in-the-sand approach. In other words, you must acknowledge that positivity is paired with negativity, thus twofold, to have the belief in duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Going with the duality flow, hate does not make you frown but smile :) Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

If you want the satisfaction of the duality flow, it is essential not to focus on anything specific. The same applies if you wish to undo the belief in duality. Therefore, since the perception ‘it is what it is’ cancels out anything specific, you kill two birds with one stone by applying it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Having established ‘it is what it is’ as your default perception, you are always in the togetherness of the duality flow, thus feeling plentiful and not needy as when you divide the duality pairs into separate components.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To feel important is a single-minded notion that has been separated from its counterpart. Hence it brings about loneliness. But in the duality flow, importance interacts with unimportance, so you get togetherness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you have followed the duality flow for some time, the particular state of mind you formerly conjured up to feel at ease is forever out of reach since everything is seen as twofold. What that means, you do not know. Nor do you care because you feel completed by the constant interaction of opposites, thus no need for a specific state of mind to escape feeling disturbed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In the duality flow, our response to something is not singular but twofold, wherefore, nothing is considered distinctly right or wrong. So it is not problematic if you appear clumsy and do not judge it as right or wrong.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being intuitive, you do not try to interfere with the brain. Thus you are in the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is relaxing and energising not to control your appearance but go with the duality flow. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Being in the duality flow is like having an electronic calendar. The appropriate thoughts automatically pop up when needed.

However, not systematically, like when seeds are planted in rows to get the most in return, but in the creative way of nature that enthusiastically throws seeds everywhere, getting a kick out of seeing new combinations evolve. In other words, since the duality flow does not result in something totalitarian or upholds a categorical style, following the flow is unpredictable except for having fun. But please remember that as everything is twofold, you do not have fun without feeling bored. Fortunately, that is not a problem in the duality flow because the interaction of opposites feels entertaining.

Regarding planning, since the brain is always in charge, you do neither have to plan anything when not in the duality flow. But you probably assume you know better, thus dismissing the brain’s signals. However, you only seem to be doing things in your way and pace because you, in retrospect, edit your experiences so they confirm everything has turned out as planned – like you shape a chaotic dream through words like patterns, displacement activity, unity, synchronicity and karma to make it consistent with your point of view.

But editing your experiences to look like you are in the know is exhausting and limits you by your conditioned view. In contrast, going with the experiences as they are effortless and not restricting you to a conditioned view of the world.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You suppress your reaction to the world to prevent seeing that your complaints about it are misplaced because you are not restricted by it but by your totalitarian ideas.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The purpose of Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teaching is not to explain the truth but to show there is nothing to explain because it requires more than one to do so, and there is no more than that which is one since it is formless, thus endless. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Long ago, Alexius conditioned himself to hide his sadness behind justified anger and disgust. That changed when he did not try to hide or rationalise it but felt it so he could perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ thus seeing a little boy floating on waves of happiness inside his sadness.

In other words, when he saw his sadness was paired with happiness, he stopped fencing off sadness to look okay. Instead, the interaction of happiness and sadness became his basic experience of the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Fortunately, you do not need to understand the nature of duality to be vitalised by the duality flow. If you perceive your single-minded response to an experience as ‘it is what it is,’ you sense it is not singular but twofold. Hence you are in sync with duality.

You can also get there by entering a state of not-knowing because you come out of this state with your slate wiped clean, thus being the basic self dedicated to duality. Read more about that in A state of not-knowing and the after-effect.

Therefore, since you do not attempt to pull apart the duality pairs into independent elements fighting each other but comply with their synergy, the collaboration of love and hate, for example, gives you the complete relationship experience.

Notes on perceptions

Updated July 7, 2023

When experiences are not seen as something, there is nothing to be excited about. Consequently, there is no expectation of something to prevent the bliss of nothing. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But regarding the below notes, you may benefit from reading Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you perceive your reaction to an experience as ‘it is what it is,’ you are in sync with the brain’s script. But if you start analysing your response and conclude, ‘I know what it is,’ you are out of sync. You cannot know anything because you do not know what you are and never will because you are a fantasy of the brain. Nor can you know what is real because everything is unreal in the brain’s fantasy. Read about the brain’s script in Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Your experiences have no meaning, nor are they yours. It is an illusion created by the brain, which thinks up experiences that make you believe you see, hear, feel and taste something interesting from outside you. It is easy to deceive you into believing that because if not, it is obvious the brain also thinks you up.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The image you have made of yourself only exists in the impression you imagine you make in the world. And that only seems real because of what you imagine it does to you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The experiences you believe in having will continue as scripted by the brain, regardless of how you perceive them. But since the brain out of love injects you with shots of happiness, it is in your best interest to have a perception in sync with the brain because otherwise, you do not notice the shots.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Non-duality is one perpetual present, which, in a world of duality, is simulated by a state of not-knowing where experiences are not perceived to make a difference.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since non-duality is formless, thus without a beginning and end, it is everything. However, that does not mean it includes the experience of duality. On the contrary, formlessness cannot be experienced, so everything experienced is fake. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

You do not have to use the exact words in the perception mentioned in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teaching regarding the duality flow, denying, taking a break, or forgetting duality. Instead of saying, ‘it is what it is,’ you can say, ‘Shit happens,’ or ‘So what.’ As long as the essence is alike, the perception works the same. That said, the perception ‘I know what it is’ only works in the context that you appear special. You are still what and where the brain wants you to be, which you do not try to change when you go with the perception, ‘it is what it is.’

You leave the brain’s script momentarily or for good by choosing the perception’ dunno what it is.’ Although you are still what and where the brain has planned, you do not perceive experiencing it as something, so you are in the bliss of nothing.

Read more about these perceptions in Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain.

To uphold the perception ‘I know what it is,’ you got to suppress your actual response to an experience. But it never works as intended because you are not all-seeing. The two other perceptions do not involve denial. On the contrary, your response to something cannot be perceived as ‘it is what it is’ or ‘dunno what it is’ if you deny it. Yet, those perceptions do not work when you intend to get something over and done.

However, that can be solved by perceiving the response to your plan as ‘it is what it is.’ It flushes out any idea of achieving something specific. And if your response is perceived as ‘dunno what it is,’ there is not something to accomplish because you are in the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since every effort to improve yourself is based on the belief in being wrong, doing something about it enhances this belief and therefore suffering. But it suits you perfectly because it manifests you as something instead of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Do not hide your reaction to something by making a story in which you are unimpressed or detached. Instead, feel your response, so you can decide what it means and perceive that as ‘it is what is.’ Since this expands the interpretation of your reaction, it is not limited to being singular. Instead, it is twofold, making you feel fulfilled in a world of duality. Therefore, since you do not search for anything, the Enlightenment of that which is One set in. Read more about that in Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

The more you perceive your responses to your experiences as ‘it is what it is,’ the more carefree you feel. Perhaps so much that your perception automatically changes to ‘dunno what it is,’ which may bring about glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. Read here how to see, hear, feel or taste glimpses of Enlightenment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Your perception syncs with the brain’s script when you do not feel something specific.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You feel fulfilled when a duality pair, such as love and hate, dynamically interact. However, since the interplay takes away the sense of control, many people choose to separate love and hate from each other by projecting romanticised love onto one person and iron-fisted hate onto another. But insisting on this division, they miss the joy of togetherness because it does not come from a singular but dualistic feeling.

Fortunately, this is corrected when the meaning they have assigned to love or hatred is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ For example, if they have classified hate as a weakness, this perception reveals it is paired with strength. Thus you get the joy of togetherness. Besides, other people are set free from the conceptual way you used to look at them.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Feeling good is not about making the body relax but how you perceive your reaction to its condition. For example, if your response is irritation, you assume your body is its source. But relaxing your body will not make you feel better psychologically because the problem is your reaction is singular. So if you perceive irritation as ‘it is what it is, you see it is coupled with pleasure, and they depend on each other to be genuinely experienced. Hence you cannot have irritation without pleasure and vice versa.

Therefore, since irritation contains pleasure, you do not need to distance yourself from it by blaming the body for your mood. So besides you feeling free from the body, it feels free from its supposed link to non-physical matters so that it can deal with itself materially.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel sad and do not experience the gladness it contains, you have chosen to perceive your reaction to something as ‘I know what it is.’ instead of ‘it is what it is.Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

To perceive anything as ‘I know what it is’ is as crazy as thinking you know where you are in a dream. You are nowhere but in your bed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot explain feelings away. They will never disappear or be transformed through meditation or something else. But if you stand by your emotions, you can perceive them as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals that fear, for example, constantly interacts with fearless. Therefore, since you are neither afraid nor unworried, but in their constant interaction, thus in the duality flow, you do not want to escape fear because, without it, you are not revitalised by the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A feeling can only be known when explained. And since that makes it mental, you feel benumbed when you claim, ‘I know what it is.’ To compensate for that, you indulge in stories of a better world.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In a computer game, everything is predetermined. No matter what you choose, the subsequent events are prearranged, likewise in a world of duality. You can choose between different stories going on inside your head. But regardless of which one you settle for, it carries on as scripted by the brain. You cannot change that. However, you are free to perceive your reaction as you see fit.

If you perceive your reaction as ‘it is what it is,’ the response is experienced as two-fold. And since you are in a world of duality, you feel unified. But if you perceive your reaction as I know what it is,’ it is established as singular, thus separated from duality. Hence you do not feel together but alone. Unfortunately, most think the solution is to get better at establishing singularity, thus eliminating duality.

Yet, it is the other way around. Playing the game of duality, you confirm non-duality because it is formless, thus endless, so there is no other reason for the experience of duality. Consequently,  you feel connected.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being in sync with the brain’s script feels like using the right tools for an assignment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you do not identify yourself as someone definitive but are relative to the present moment, there is no need to make specific opinions to confirm a specific personality. Thus every moment is the perfect moment. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

You can alleviate the symptoms with air purifiers, pills, sprays and drops if you have allergies. However, you may still feel depressed about being allergic. No worries. If you perceive your depressed reaction to your allergies as ‘it is what it is,’ you realise it is neither caused by your allergy symptoms nor something else. Its purpose is to interact with joy so those feelings can define each other. In their constant interaction, you are vitalised by the duality flow. However, that is not a miracle cure for allergies. But since you do not bundle it with depression, it no longer feels so heavy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since your reaction to the internal comments about the world generally is singular and therefore cut off from its complementary part, you appear to judge yourself and others as incomplete. Hence you get the urge to improve the world to feel complete.

Fortunately, the rules that your single-minded reaction seem to establish do not need to be identified to free yourself and others from your limitation. Instead, you perceive your present reaction to an internal comment about somebody as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals your opinion is not singular but twofold. If you do not notice the elements of this duality pair, you still cannot help but laugh being in their interaction because it feels as natural as breathing in and out. Hence the interplay of opposites, like waves in the ocean, hastily but without haste wash away your narrow-minded opinions.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you see a movie, it is not you but the brain commenting it internally. But it hopes you believe it is your comment, and you do it because otherwise, nobody is watching a movie except in the brain’s fantasy. So if you want to expose the brain’s deception, do not engage in any comment in your headspace suggesting there is something outside you that establishes you as somebody substantial. Not being confirmed as somebody by laughing at the comments, for example, nobody witnesses the existence of the brain’s story about duality. So even though the comments go on, while you are in a state of not-knowing, the brain’s story falls apart if you remain in that state. See hack #9.11.

You could also perceive your reaction to the brain’s comments as ‘it is what it is.’ It reveals your response is twofold, wherefore you are in sync with the brain’s story of duality, thus in the duality flow on the way to non-duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel something is missing in music compressed into an MP3 file, you can get the same music in a non-compressed version. Should that not feel satisfying, you can get better speakers, wires and whatnot. And if that is not good enough, live music might satisfy you.

But no matter how the music is presented, it will never satisfy you if your response is singular. This is because everything comes in pairs in a world of duality, so you cannot feel complete unless your reaction to the world is twofold. Therefore, when your response to the music is dual, you feel satisfied, regardless it is compressed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Everything in a world of duality unfolds as scheduled. Still, if you neither hang onto a negative nor positive response to it but go with their interaction, you are in the duality flow, thus feeling fulfilled by duality’s interplay of opposites. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Seeing the sun going up and down is a hallucination. »The sun stays positioned at the centre of our solar system. So it does not rise and set. But it appears to rise and set because the Earth rotates on its axis,« according to science.

This rotation happens at 1.000 miles an hour. So whether you believe the sun rise and set or whatnot, you rotate with the Earth at the same speed, besides hurtling around the sun at 67.000 miles an hour, thus in alignment with the universe’s playbook.

Likewise, you go along with the brain’s game of duality. You cannot change that. However, you believe in knowing better, thus trying to change the brain’s duality scheme per your singularity philosophy. But since everything is twofold in the game of duality, singularity entails feeling incomplete. On the other hand, if you do not try to manage the brain’s playbook of duality, the constant interaction of opposites makes you feel complete.

Being in sync with the brain’s manuscript is not about responding positively to it but not hiding your reaction because your response is revealed twofold when exposed. For example, if you feel upset because the scheme does not unfold per your ideas of fairness, you do not disassociate yourself from feeling troubled. Instead, you perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that reveals it is coupled with its counterpart, you go from feeling troubled to untroubled, and then you do not sense the specifics in this duality pair anymore but their interaction. Since that is the togetherness of the duality flow, you are in sync with the brain’s script of duality.

The duality flow is very active, so you do not get it by sitting and meditating but by being physical activity in a rhythmic and uncontrolled fashion, for example, Nordic Walking. Since doing that makes it hard to initiate something yourself, it is great for going with the duality flow. That said, the duality flow is not physical, so you feel it in the psychological sphere, not the body.

Over time the duality flow goes to non-duality. That is the end of all experiences because it takes more than one to be aware of something. Consequently, you are not there and never were anywhere because that requires more than one. Still, you are everywhere because non-duality is formless, thus endless.

Notes on feelings

Updated July 4, 2023

Feeling wrong is your decision because your emotions are shaped by how you perceive your reaction to something. But if you decide not to perceive your reaction as specific, the brain automatically takes over and perceives it as ‘it is what it is,’ revealing your reaction as twofold because the brain operates in pairs. Therefore, as sadness is paired with happiness, you are in the interplay of happiness and sadness. This polarity, like any other, makes you feel complete. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

»If you’re sitting in a safe and comfortable position, close your eyes and try to feel your heart beating in your chest. Can you, without moving your hands to take your pulse, feel each movement and count its rhythm? Or do you struggle to detect anything at all? This simple test is just one way to assess your ‘interoception’ – your brain’s perception of your body’s state, transmitted from receptors on all your internal organs … There’s a constant communication dialogue between the brain and the viscera (internal organs).«

The above test, to see if the connection between the brain and the body works, is from the Guardian, Interoception: the hidden sense that shapes wellbeing. Like in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, the article concludes that many people have cut off the link between the body and the brain. And since the latter controls the body, it is left without guidance.

According to Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, this connection must be re-established so the body parts do not act independently of the brain but work as a group governed by it. However, the article in the Guardian has another conclusion. It says you need to master the body, and in doing so, you get in touch with its signals and, thus, your feelings because they are in the body.

But believing you are the master is the root of the problem. You are nothing but a product fabricated and conducted by the brain. Besides, imagining combining psychological feelings with the body’s physical sensations entails suffering because psychological feelings seem heavy when perceived as substantial instead of airy.

In other words, you are not a boss but a puppet mastered by the brain. That is why you feel vitalised when playing by the brain’s rules of duality, like you follow the rules of a computer game. And you feel fatigued trying to make your rules fit into the brain’s set-up, which is to go with the duality flow effortlessly.

However, if you do not want to play the game of duality, you are free to leave it. But you cannot do that unless you play it. And since participating involves feeling it dualistically, we go on in the below looking at the twofoldness of feelings.

As usual, we do not begin somewhere specific or end with a conclusion. Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings have nothing to establish because they know they are as illusionary as anything else in a world of duality. Nevertheless, reading the below ragbag of clips may help you see that this includes what you believe in being.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In the game of duality, the brain is the game master. You cannot change that, but if you follow the game master, you have plenty of fun in its game of duality. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

This article is not about Enlightenment or the reality of oneness but twofoldness because you have opted for duality instead of non-duality. To undo that decision entirely, you must live by duality completely. Fortunately, it is easy when you do not suppress aggression, for example, but go with the interaction of that and peace, like breathing in and out.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot breathe out before you breathe in, and vice versa. In other words, you cannot have one without the other. That is how duality works. Everything comes in pairs. Acknowledging the nature of duality, you feel complete. But, on the other hand, you feel incomplete when you divide the duality pairs into separate elements.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you justify your unpleasant emotions with something judged as flawed in the world, your unwanted feelings are buried in a mental drama of fairness. For example, feeling angry is removed from your awareness and replaced by a mental story you tell to convince others, thus yourself, that the world mistreats you. This spin also hides that you fear the world will get back at you for blaming it for your anger.

Often this is too shameful to admit that you fear the world. So to save face when you feel attacked, you repeat the story of being unfairly treated to prove you are innocent. However, to uphold your innocence, you must continuously suppress your feelings of selfishness, greed, anger and envy by pointing out those attributes in others so they feel ashamed. You are very good at that, and your friends know it. But they do not expose you because they also look for someone to attack to feel off the hook. That is why they recognise it in you.

To hide that you hate everybody, you and like-minded ones meet in special groups where you hug and share in a collectively agreed way of loving each other. Yet, it is not done out of love but to conceal the hate for each other. Naturally, nobody wants to acknowledge this, least of all do they want to talk about it in the group because if you do not censor yourself to speak and act within the language established as love by the group, or its mentor, you are expelled. And then you have nowhere to go to find relief from your despair.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Negativity is just as crucial as positivity. A computer, for example, only functions when connected to the negative and positive poles in an electrical wire. Twofoldness is the name of the game, which you must adhere to if you want to be in a world of duality. Also, if you wish to leave the game because you cannot do that without playing it. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

When somebody triggers an old feeling of rejection in the special self, it first interprets it as an attack. Next, it justifies feeling rejected by the perceived attack. Therefore, since feeling abandoned seems to originate in the attacker, the special self concludes it does not come from itself. If the perceived attacker exposes this self-deception, the special self points out something from the past to make the attacker feel rejected. Hence the special self is off the hook and can rest assured that it is loved and the attacker is not.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you want to undo the belief in duality, denying feelings by focusing on their energies is not helpful because the experience of duality is based on feeling it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The main reason most suppress negative feelings is that they fear they are dangerous to express. For example, when Alexius was a kid, his father beat him if he said or did something judged offensive. Thus Alexius was afraid to voice his negative emotions accidentally.

But just like the negative pole in electricity is as important as the positive one. You need negative feelings as much as positive ones. When you avoid the negative ones, you deteriorate and blossom if you approve of them. Read more about that in Alexius’ Childhood.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot experience something as positive without judging something else as negative. Thus the negative thoughts are a confirmation of positivity and vice versa. That is the way of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Non-duality cannot be experienced because seeing something takes more than one. On the other hand, a world of duality is divided into pairs of opposing elements so that it can be seen. But that means duality excludes non-duality and vice versa. Still, many try to replicate non-duality in a world of duality by being solely positive, for example. However, this singleness is not a confirmation of non-duality but separation, thus duality, as it is based on excluding negativity.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not need to balance breathing in and out. It happens by itself when you do not intervene. Likewise, you do not need to find a balance between body and brain. If you do not interfere, the brain takes care of the body so you, in a laid-back fashion, can enjoy being someone in its game of duality. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Feeling down without pairing it with going up, you feel sad. Solely going up, not pairing it with feeling down, you feel insecure. But if you go with the interaction of up and down, you are not definitive but relative. Thus you feel neither happy nor sad but happy/sad. However, only for a moment because another soon replaces this duality pair. Hence you keep feeling vitalised by the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To feel something definitive is to separate. Consequently, you stop separating by not insisting on feeling something specific. You can do that by perceiving the meaning you have assigned to your response to an experience as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals what you decided it meant is not set in stone because its counterpart complements it. Therefore, if you thought you were sad, now you are also happy/sad.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Whatever you plan, visualise or realise, everything plays out as programmed by the brain. You have no say in that. But it is your choice how to perceive it. Therefore, if you feel faulty, you have chosen to perceive the brain’s play as wrong.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you hand your interpretation of something over to the brain, it will shape it so you feel entertained because its purpose is to amuse you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you are full of thoughts, you are probably busy assigning meaning to your experiences. However, none of your experiences means anything. There is nothing to learn from them, whether they seem dreamy, mundane or spiritual. Their only purpose is to entertain you, which they do when perceived as twofold. Being in the duality flow, there is no need to look for thoughts to explain them. Hence you do not feel stressed. On the contrary, you feel amused.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To prevent being touched by the duality flow, you ensure everything in your environment is adjusted to the rules of Feng Shui or another totalitarian system. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Suffering comes not from something but from how you interpret your response. However, you do not fix it by making another interpretation. You probably choose a distinct one, which is the root of the misery because everything comes in pairs in a world of duality. In other words, you do not need to change your interpretation but perceive it as ‘it is what it is,’ thus seeing your interpretation is not definitive but twofold.

This does not mean you have gotten rid of suffering, but that you recognise it is coupled with contentment. However, you neither feel specifically hurt nor content. Instead, you feel vitalised by their constant interaction, which is the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Nobody but yourself has the power to make you suffer. Therefore if you suffer, it is because you see yourself as somebody. In other words, do not try to be anybody if you do not want to suffer.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Trouble always follows in the footsteps of somebody, whereas nothing but bliss comes in the wake of nobody.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To feel is to not exist because it takes more than one to feel something, and life is that which is One. In other words, it is impossible to feel something unless you imagine being in a world where there seems to be more than one. Can you feel it? Of course, you can. You are reading this. That means you think it is possible to be and have more than that which is One, and you uphold this illusion as ‘real’ by feeling it.

You undo the mistake by acknowledging what you feel. Next, you perceive your reaction to it as ‘it is what it is,’ revealing your response is not singular but twofold. Then, you do not focus on the two elements of the duality pair but go with their interaction, which is the duality flow. Remaining in the flow, you feel so complete that the experience of more than one is eventually dismissed as real.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Those who like to talk about others’ emotions have not felt them because if something is felt as it is, it is unveiled as nothing. Hence there is not something to talk about.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel like an outsider, you do not solve it by blaming others but by solely feeling wrong. Since that means nothing can contrast what you feel, it cannot be defined. Consequently, you feel nothing but the bliss of emptiness. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

The basic self does not need to make a perception that seems to alter or transform the brain’s script into something better. Unlike the special self, it does not want to create, modify or change anything. So although it may feel scared when the script brings it down, it also feels joy because it perceives its reaction to going down as ‘it is what it is,’ which reveals there is no fear without joy and vice versa.

Read about the basic and special self in Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

Going with the interaction of fear and joy, the basic self gets the thrill of the duality flow. But the special self does not get that because it separates fear and joy, so it can suppress fear from its awareness to feel joy solely. However, it cannot feel it when there is no fear to outline joy. That is why it always feels like something is missing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not get rid of an emotional problem by suppressing it but by feeling it. That is not done by sharing it with friends or focusing on the cause with the help of a psychiatrist. These approaches disassociate you from your feeling. And you cannot get rid of it if you do not feel it.

Feeling it all by yourself until you are nothing but your emotional problem, there is not something left to define you have a problem or anything else. Consequently, you are in a state of not-knowing. Read more about that in A state of not-knowing and the after-effect.

Like a criminal, you do not think in terms of right or wrong when returning from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone. But unlike a criminal, you do not replace these categories with a calculation of what you can get away with. Instead, you remain in the interaction of right or wrong, thus the duality flow. In that flow, nothing disturbs you from falling into a state of not-knowing now and then. Read more about that in A state of not-knowing and the after-effect.

You must play the game of duality to hack it

First, Alexius thought his fear was caused by his father, who often beat him as a child. Next, Alexius assumed he caused it himself because he feared not being good enough. Then he stopped looking for a cause. And as there is no effect without a cause, fear as a specific feeling was gone. Thus he was free to go with the duality flow, which is not substantial, thus not in the body but in the psychological sphere. You can read where that is in The psychological zone is anywhere but in something solid. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

This article continues the previous one, Alexius’ childhood, about having one’s conditioned one-sided perception revealed as twofold.

When Alexius was about six years old, lying on the floor while his father kicked him, Alexius became aware that appearing as someone is a charade. Hence he instinctively mimicked fear by shivering all over. And since it seemed to hold off his father, he concluded that making the body tremble to appear scared was the way to stop being maltreated, thus feeling in control, although miserable.

He soon forgot everything he did was pretence. But he remembered provoking a muscle spasm in the body prevented him from feeling helpless, so it became his way of dealing with danger. But much later, when he again remembered everything is a pretence, he realised he did not need to manipulate feelings to be in control because everything is an illusion – also being authentic. One pretends it, like when we pretend to be someone definitive in a game. See more about playacting in Duality Hack #2 Pretending to be twofold undoes duality.

Furthermore, he recognised that no feeling is singular because everything comes in pairs of opposing elements that constantly interact in a world of duality. And aligning with this interaction, you feel complete. But as promised in the last article, this piece is not about Alexius’ way to the duality flow but how you join it and follow it to the end of duality.

Contrasts are the building stones of duality, so when you interpret something as beautiful, you are bound to see something deemed ugly. So if you do not try to correct or remove the ugliness to hold onto a distinct view of beauty, you feel the togetherness of twofoldness

Twofoldness occurs as automatically as breathing in is followed by breathing out – and it feels as satisfying. Accepting one polarity, it is replaced by another. Thus you remain in the duality flow till it is over, which is the end of the duality fantasy Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

THE LONELINESS OF SINGULARITY VS THE TOGETHERNESS OF TWOFOLDNESS
Since everything is twofold in a world of duality, a distinct impression, such as love, is fake, so you feel disconnected when holding onto it. But, no worries, it is easily corrected. First, you perceive your singular feeling as ‘it is what it is.’ Then, in a state of expectation calling for nothing specific, your special feeling gently turns inside out and unveils its counterpart inside it. In this case, love gently opens up, and hate quietly moves out. However, like breathing in and out are interchanging, love and hate are not experienced simultaneously.

And then again, since the love you feel is defined by hate, which is characterised by love, there is no true love without hatred and vice versa. So when you have one of them, you have both. Therefore, if you, out of habit, suppress hatred to hold onto a specific memory of love, you feel disconnected until you remember that feeling connected comes from twofoldness, thus the collaboration of love and hate.

You may not notice the transition from love to its counterpart, hate, like you generally overlook the changeover of breathing in and out. Consequently, it probably takes time to acknowledge the constant movement between the opposing poles of duality: the duality flow, which like rolling waves, without highs and lows, runs throughout your awareness (read more about that here).

Nevertheless, since perceiving your reaction to an experience as ‘it is what it is’ aligns you with duality, you feel connected immediately. But not if you mistake your response to the experience for the experience because then you establish your specific interpretation of the experience as being it. For example, suppose a person leaves you, and your response is anger. But in a split second, you disassociate yourself from your feeling by mentally replacing it with your impression of the person, thus making your opinion your experience.

Another example is when your nostalgic reaction to a photograph from your hometown is mistaken for the image, and you perceive that as ‘it is what it is.’ Then nostalgia is not understood as something you feel but as the specific look of the image. Hence, you have used the perception ‘it is what it is’ to suppress your response to the image, thus appearing detached from your hometown proved to be as you see it. Therefore, you actually have used the perception ‘I know what it is’, thus hanging onto a single-minded opinion.

That something is ugly is not a fact but how you perceive it. However, this singular interpretation prevents you from seeing it as it is because everything comes in pairsn in a world of duality. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

If you uphold a romantic idea of love by hiding your hatred in a rigid part of the body, you set yourself free from this imagined fusion of a pshycholigal and physical issue by perceiving your reaction to the rigidity as ‘it is what it is.’

Since that reveals your response is twofold, there is no specific response to establish that your hatred is linked with the stiff body part. The sense of nothingness that replaces the suppoed link makes you laugh.

In short, when the experience you reacted upon is replaced by the meaning you assign to your reaction, and you state it as a fact, your perception is ‘I know what it is.’ That is why if you cover your bloated opinion by saying, ‘it is what it is,’ you do not feel vitalised by the interaction of opposites but fatigue from suppressing what you feel about something to appear above it.

So if you wish to be vitalised by twofoldness, it is not your experience of something you perceive as ‘it is what it is,’ but the specific response you determine your experience brings about. For example, if you decide your reaction to rejection is sadness, you perceive that as ‘it is what it is.It reveals your one-sided response is twofold. Thus sadness does not settle into definite grief but gently opens up and reveals gladness inside it.

In other words, when the definitive meaning you have assigned to a response is perceived as ‘it is what it is,its opposite is revealed. That is not a metaphor. Literally speaking, you feel sadness replaced by gladness, not quickly but gradually and as automatically as breathing in follows breathing out.

However, you are probably so used to suppressing your initial response to something and replacing it with a made-up reaction that establishes you in the know that you are unaware of what an experience makes you feel. But when you become aware of that, ever so slightly, and perceive the definitive meaning you assigned to your response as ‘it is what it is,’ it opens up, and its counterpart unfolds from inside, as already described.

Therefore, since your reaction is not seen as singular but dualistic, it does not appear exclusively right or wrong, thus generating neither pleasure nor worry. Instead, it brings about satisfaction, remaining no matter what happens because it does not depend on something specific.

The perception it is what it is does not set you free from anger but free to experience it paired with delight. In other words, this perception does not end duality but starts the enjoyment of the duality flow. However, everything with a beginning has an end, so enjoying the duality flow is the end of duality. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Many people choose a distinctive opinion of something to escape feeling attacked, furious or hopeless. However, since you have to fight to uphold your specific point of view, what you try to escape is enhanced. In contrast, choosing an opinion that is twofold, there is no specific view to uphold, Instead, you are in the resilient energy between opposites, like the springy drive that makes a yoyo go up and down. Hence you feel revitalised by the duality flow.

Since it is not a sensational feeling of adventure but a gentle sense of pleasure, you may fail to notice it. Nevertheless, you will definitely notice that the present moment does not require any effort.

That does not mean you cannot respond with sadness if somebody rejects you. But since sadness is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ it is revealed to interact with gladness. Accepting their interplay, another duality pair rapidly replaces it. Thus you continue in the duality flow.

When you anticipate your friends’ opinions about a specific feeling, it is as you experience it. Especially if you spin a story about the feeling and present it to others in a severe tone of voice enhanced by body language illustrating it. Women often use this trick to appear as if they feel something special. However, unlike women, men do not act as if they feel something important because they think feelings get in their way. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Had you not perceived feeling sad as ‘it is what it is’ but held onto a definite feeling of grief, you would have had to cut off its counterpart, gladness, from your awareness by imagining hiding it in the chest, for example. Hereafter, when you want to hold onto feeling specifically sad, you do that by looking for pain in the chest. Read more about that in Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix

To sum up, when your unmanipulated reaction to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ it is not limited to a singular feeling like shyness. Instead, you go back and forth between that and its contrast confidence, so the opposing elements can define each other, thus establishing genuine feelings.

Being amused by this potency, you remain in the duality flow. Hence the duality pair of shyness and confidence is soon replaced by another intensely experienced polarity. And so it goes until you feel so euphoric that there is no need for more, wherefore the belief in duality fades out.

If you repress your negativity to appear solely positive, you do not get the togetherness of the duality flow but the loneliness of singularity. Besides, being only positive, you do not feel genuine but fake because, without negativity, positivity cannot be defined. In other words, if you want to be genuinely positive, do not avoid your negative feelings by explaining them away but include them unedited so that they can define your positivity and vice versa. As a bonus, this interaction makes you laugh because you feel complete in the duality flow. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Consequently, you should not use the perception ‘it is what it is’ if you do not want to have the belief in being and having more than that which is One undone. Instead, you better use the perception ‘I know what it is.’ However, to make it work, you must ignore the counterpart of what you claim to know. So if you, for example, want to appear as knowing the way, you must hide feeling lost, thus missing something. And no matter where you look, you do not see it because you keep insisting, ‘I know what it is.’

Should you want to speed up the undoing of the belief in duality, you say, ‘dunno what it is,’ thus forgetting you appear as someone in a world of duality. That does not mean you are transformed, or duality is replaced by non-duality. But it means you are in a state of not-knowing, so there is nobody to confirm duality as real. Read more about that in A state of not knowing and the after-effect.

Nota bene: You do not have to apply Alexius’ Duality Hacks perfectly. Willingness to undo the belief in duality is enough. Therefore, if you are not in touch with your unmanipulated reaction to something, you perceive how you sense your response as ‘it is what it is.’ After all, ‘it is what it is.’

bottle-up-emotionsHow to suppress feelings?
If you are not already aware, here are a few samples:

  • Talking about what others do or say instead of how that makes you feel.
  • Trying to help others to remove the attention from you and how you feel yuorself.
  • Falling in love hides the self-hatred inside.
  • Talking about metaphysically things instead of acknowledging, what you feel.
  • Being upset about something on behalf of others.
  • Meditating, chanting, praying or doing similar things to fend off what you feel.
  • Finding psychological, or any other kinds of explanation for what you feel.
  • Eating or drinking to suppress ones’ feelings.
  • Trying to prove a factual point to hide what you feel.
  • Following ideas for living in the now, or trying to live by any other totalirian concept.
  • Blaming others and justify your feelings by them.
  • Much planning and control.
  • Constantly looking for new things to buy or change.
  • Trying to always be in a good mood.
  • Working a lot and for instance clean your home, when you are upset.
  • Reading or playing computer games regularly.
  • Having revenge sex.
  • Staging yourself on Facebook – perhaps to get as many likes and followers as possible.
  • Publish photos of your happy and shiny life on Instagram.
  • Quoting others to prove you are right.
  • Keep imagining how to solve things or just making up stories.
  • Sitting with crossed legs, locking the knees by bending them backwards, raising one or both shoulders or pushing them forward.
  • Holding back the breath.
  • Assuming to know what is right and wrong.
  • Concluding this and that.

And how to not suppress your feelings?
In the duality flow feelings become very defined, but only in relation to their counterpart. Therefore, since they are not definitive but relative, you have no specific feelings to suppress.

Alexius’ childhood

Updated May 8, 2023

During childhood, we learn to suppress the emotions that makes our parents unconfortable. Read more about that here. But everything comes in pairs in a world of duality, so you feel disconnected if you suppress hate, for example, to appear lovable. On the other hand, you feel connected if not perceiving love and hate as distinctive feelings opposing each other, but feelings in a pair collaborating to define each other. This article is a continuation of ‘What if…?’ versus ‘it is what it is’ about the perception ‘it is what it is,’  which reveals every experience is dual. Settling with twofoldness, you feel so complete in a world of duality that you eventually forget to remember it, thus not hiding it is an illusion.

Our present perception of ourselves and others is often based on one we made in the past. Alexius interpreted many experiences in his childhood as scary. And he blamed something outside him for having caused the experiences he interpreted as horrific, thus disassociating himself from feeling horrible. Therefore he could hide behind an image of being on top of it. Especially because he also separated himself from his affectionate feelings by projecting them onto something he decided to see as wonderful. In other words, he divided the world into something he saw as horrible or wonderful to suppress his feelings.

That seemed to work until Alexius got older and sometimes felt so bothered by something deemed horrible that his suppressed fear flared out in verbal attacks on others. Although there was no physical violence, his outbursts seemed as wild as when his father lost his temper and hit him across the dinner table. Therefore, since Alexius felt ashamed for being as hostile as his father, he hid his hostility from his awareness by projecting it onto his stomach. Actually, he started hiding his hostility like that as a child to avoid saying something that would make his father burst out in a rage so violent that it could have been the end of Alexius.

Instead, Alexius tried to hurt his father through silence, which seemed efficient. On top of that, Alexius looked sad and sick to make his father feel guilty for being so violent (read more about making others feel guilty here). However, that did not work on his father – only on Alexius because he unconsciously knew they were the same. After all, both used each other as a scapegoat for their inner demons. But if his father was aware of that, Alexius does not know.

In 1972 Alexius returned from the Enlightenment of that which is One as nobody. Hence he could only remain in a world where there seems to be more than one by pretending to be somebody. Actually, that also applies to the years before that because we are nothing pretending to be something. But since he was not aware of it before he bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One, this article is based on his memories of believing to be somebody instead of pretending it. However, as a child, he already began to grasp that everything is pretence. Read more about pretending in Duality Hack #2 Pretending to be twofold undoes duality. Be aware that the story of Alexius’ childhood is a compressed version, where his progress may seem quick, but it was not. Nevertheless, it was effortless after having bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One. The photo of Alexius is restored digitally. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Nor does he know if his description of his childhood is correct because it is done in retrospect.* Besides, he is neither a physician nor a psychologist. But it seems he disguised his reactions of fear, aggression and shame to events in his childhood behind the physical problems arising from his congenital disability in the vertebrae.

One of these physical problems was that the malfunctioning vertebra disturbed a nerve in the stomach, making it bloated. That made it easy for Alexius to imagine using it to hide the shame he felt when he, petite and adorable, was exploited by his mother to get her the bodily affection her husband could not provide. And due to Alexius’ bloated stomach, the diaphragm hardened. And since it is the primary mover of the breath, his chest turned to stone. So there he imagined hiding his naivety and natural generosity, so his empathy would not cause him to be preyed on in the future.

Alexius grew up in a war zone in the sense that he never knew when and where his father would hit him again. Since his mother did nothing to help Alexius, he felt terrified and alone. To disassociate himself from how bad this made him feel, Alexius decided to see his father as cruel and himself as kind. But by disassociating viciousness from himself, he also separated himself from his gentleness because viciousness defines it. Thus he always looked for something gentle outside him. However, what he saw he mostly judged as vicious. Finally, Alexius realised that the reason for this was his suppressed darkness. Fortunately, not hiding it revealed lightness because light and darkness are like two sides of the same coin in a world of duality. This polarity, and those that naturally followed, made him feel complete. So there was no fear of evil and thus no need to hide feeling it by perceiving the world as vicious. Consequently, the apparent difference between himself and the world stopped making a difference. Perhaps that is why Alexius is both a non-teacher and a non-student of Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Fortunately, he got in touch with his compassion again later in life. But that is another story, so we go on with Alexius and his father, who he perceived as the devil responsible for the evil he experienced in himself. Since Alexius did not want to realise it was his anger he saw in his father, he hid his inner demon in the neck, weakened by the malfunctioning vertebra. But he also did it because he assumed that only as an angel would he get his parent’s love. However, since his parents only loved the divine image he made by suppressing everything devilish, he felt lonely and complained about not being seen.

When the devil behind his false front of sweetness popped up, he interpreted the psychological disturbance as a physical issue in the neck where he initially imagined hiding his devilish. Therefore, the physical problem became an unsolvable mystery diagnosed as a psychosomatic disorder, hiding the helpless little boy, full of sorrow, rage and fear from Alexius’ awareness.

In Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix, you can read more about using the body to hide your feelings from your awareness.

When you do not try to hide sexual lust, grievances, envy, anger, negativity or whatever you consider politically incorrect, your thoughts and feelings about something are seen in pairs. Negative thoughts, for example, are coupled with positive ones. You already know this because when one part of you senses something as good, immediately another part sees it as bad. If you do not try to decide between good and bad but join their interplay, you feel as entertained by this polarity as any other. The more you experience everything in pairs, the less dangerous it is to be angry. Actually, you feel relieved being angry because it contains calmness. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

But after he became someone compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One when he was about 20 years old (see Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One), his two distinctive perceptions of the world as horrible or wonderful were revealed as not separated but together as a pair. So in his unpleasantness, there was pleasantness and vice versa. He did not hold onto the specific feelings in this polarity but enjoyed their interplay.

Therefore, since he did not feel fragmented but completed, there were no specific feelings to project onto the body. And those he once had projected onto it were revealed in the psychological sphere where a feeling is not experienced as something tangible but an intangible element in constant interaction with its opposite, for example, helpless and powerful, sorrow and delight, rage and calm, fear and confidence. Fifty years later, Alexius named the constant interaction of opposites the duality flow.

The higher you aim, the lower you must prepare to go because everything comes in pairs of opposing elements in a world of duality.

Since the duality flow reduced his psychosomatic disorders to physical issues, they could be fixed physically. However, congenital disabilities cannot be completely sorted. So he still has fallen arches, for example. Yet, everything has been solved to the extent that the experience of being someone inside a body has become more comfortable. Read more about that in Sadness is a close friend of gladness.

Nevertheless, out of habit, an old single-minded point of view is often Alexius’ first choice when confronted with something new. But fortunately, he soon remembers that everything comes in pairs of opposing elements to define each other in a world of duality. So then, as from an invisible crack in his conditioned feeling of disgust, a sense of liking unfolds.

Going with the interplay of this polarity, it soon fades out to be replaced by others, for example, humility and boldness, serenity and lust, calmness and confusion, union and separation, etc. But the duality flow is so gratifying that you do not sense when the interplay of one polarity is over, and another sets off. The beginning and end are another interaction of opposites that makes him feel adequate.

Not trying to control the future, thoughts become unimportant. Hence they turn into insignificant noise in the background. Read more about that here.

When Alexius takes a break in the primordial forest of La Gomera, he does not label his dualistic reaction to this. Being someone somewhere is enough to feel the togetherness of twofoldness, thus going with the duality flow and having glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

The above may suggest you remember the opposing elements in the duality pairs you encounter. But the duality flow is about the interaction of opposites in a duality pair, not its specific elements – like one does not need to label the sides of a coin to sense its twofoldness. That is why thoughts are reduced to insignificant jabber in the background.

In a world of duality, a holistic experience is not singular but dualistic. That is why wholeness comes from twofoldness. But in non-duality there is no wholeness to experience because it takes more than one to be aware of something.

To sum up, even though the experience of duality is imaginary (read more about that here), within its apparent reality, you feel incomplete when separating the duality pairs into distinct elements. But going with their interaction makes you feel complete – like you feel fulfilled by the interplay of breathing in and out.

You do not have to be someone compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One to feel completed by twofoldness. You only need to perceive your specific opinion of something as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that reveals it is twofold – for example, happy/sad or angry/calm – you get the satisfaction of duality. We explore that in the following article, You must play the game of duality to hack it. This article ends with a note about doing that when compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One.

Sometimes Alexius forgets what and where he is, thus bidding welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One. However, when he returns to the awareness of being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, his appearance is not Enlightened. Still, Alexius is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is OnePhoto © Alexius Jørgensen.

SOMEONE WHO IS COMPARED TO THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE
Bidding welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One is a bit like getting to the point of orgasm. Nothing else matters. But whereas the desire for something drives an orgasm, the absence of something fuels the Enlightenment of that which is One.

That does not mean you must become purer by avoiding sex or something else, nor must you be harmonious, physically fit or breathe in a special way. All that is needed is to forget what and where you are because the Enlightenment of that which is One does not recognise something definable.

For the same reason, the Enlightenment of that which is One does not change anything in your appearance in a world where there seems to be more than one. However, Alexius keeps getting glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One, so he is constantly reminded that a world where there seems to be more than one is make-believe.

Thus he feels like in a roleplay, where one acts out a role in a story governed by the gamemaster, which, in the case of a world where there seems to be more than one, is not somebody else but one’s brain. Being aligned with the gamemaster, the perception ‘it is what it is’ comes naturally. Therefore, since the interpretation of past events loses their specific meaning, the past does not make one feel stuck in a mental combo of physical and non-physical issues.

See Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain about the brain as the gamemaster. And read Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix about the unfortunate belief in a connection between the body and mental issues. Check Duality Hack #11 Going without distance to non-duality for glimpses of Enlightenment. They are something you see, hear, feel or taste, whereas there is nobody to experience the Enlightenment of that which is One since that requires more than One. See Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One. That is why there is no sense of magic or anything else in the Enlightenment of that which is One – only in the glimpses of it.

To be continued in You must play the game of duality to have it undone.

*) Alexius has never talked with his parents about this. As a teenager, he left home for good. First, he moved into a hippie commune and then into an old wooden house next to a gipsy camp until he became a monk for four years. He has no education, by the way. See Alexius, The Man, for a short biography of Alexius.

‘What if…?’ vs ‘it is what it is’

Updated July 5, 2023

Spirituality is that which is One. And since it takes more than one to become something, you cannot become spiritual unless you believe it is possible to be and have more than that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

This article is a continuation of Sadness is a close friend of gladness about the perception ‘it is what it is,’ revealing every experience is dual. Adjusting to twofoldness, you feel so complete in a world of duality that you eventually forget to remember being there.

WHAT IF…? VERSUS ‘IT IS WHAT IT IS’
You need to be fully anchored in the belief that you are someone in a world of duality if you want to undo this belief – just like you need to play a game to finish it. That is why this article is written within the context of duality. In such a world, psychological and physical issues do not mix. So if you conclude your worries are caused by something physical or what you feel in your body is caused by your anxiety, you deceive yourself.

Maybe you interpret your physical pain in the foot as fatal and imagine it is linked to a psychological issue from the past. Consequently, the psychological aspect appears to have caused the physical one.

Hereafter, the physical and psychological issues seem to impact each other significantly the more your imagination runs wild on a loop set off by envisioning ‘what if…?’ However, since your reaction to your thought-up outcome is revealed as two-fold when perceived as ‘it is what it is, there is no specific reaction to confirm your alleged cause-and-effect between non-physical and physical issues. Hence it is no more and never was except in fantasy. Read more about cause and effect here.

In Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix, you can read more about the unfortunate belief that physical and non-physical issues blend.

Therefore, the physical problem can be dealt with materially and the psychological one immaterially. Naturally, this is much easier and less scary than when fantasising about a connection between physical and psychological issues – just like daily life feels less dangerous when not mixing it with fantasies.

You cannot change physical reality. But if you perceive it so it makes you suffer, you can change your perception to one that makes you feel good.

You probably will be diagnosed with vertigo* if you experience the world spinning around you. However, that does not mean the doctor believes your experience is real. On the contrary, it is a hallucination because the world cannot revolve around you. Nevertheless, please do not deny it is your experience but that it is real. When you do that, the fear goes away. Hence you realise the whirling sensation is only going on inside you. Outside you, the world goes on as usual. Therefore, like you constantly correct seeing the earth as flat, you correct the experience of the world spinning around you. Eventually, you realise that all experiences need correction. None of them is real because it takes more than one to be aware of something, and there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

IN A WORLD OF DUALITY, YOU FEEL WHOLE BY BEING TWOFOLD
Having vertigo* is a glaring example of believing that the experience of something beyond the bounds of possibility is authentic. The world does not spin around you. Instead, it is an inner vision where everything rotates to suppress your horrifying interpretation of something. But since the whirling sensation disturbs the image of yourself, you disassociate yourself from it by projecting it onto the outside world.

That is until you stand by your horrifying interpretation, so it can be perceived as ‘it is what it is.That makes a crack in horror. And out of it comes something which initially feels pretty abstract. But as soon as it has been defined by horror, it settles as fearless to redefine horror. In this interplay, the opposing feelings are not independent but interdependent. Therefore, since you cannot feel afraid without feeling fearless and vice versa, you do not need to avoid the experience you initially interpreted as absolute horror.

Another way of explaining what the perception ‘it is what it is’ does is that when your single-minded response of sadness is perceived like that, it is as if there is an airball of misery somewhere undefinable. If you do not attempt to explain this vacuum, it feels like it balloons outward in a swelling bubble of gladness. But if you hold onto gladness to escape sadness, you feel alone because gladness is a singular feeling.

On the other hand, going with the interaction of gladness and sadness, you feel at home in their togetherness. To conclude, when not having a singular but a twofold response, you do not feel alone but together in the duality flow. Read more about the experience of the duality flow here.

Should this procedure seems too complicated, and you forget what to perceive as ‘it is what it is,’ you perceive your reaction to the confusion as ‘it is what it is.’ And since your response is revealed not to be singular but twofold, you are in the duality flow, thus feeling fulfilled by a world of duality.**

Always perceiving your response to something as ‘it s what it is,’ you do not have to control your reaction to something to avoid feeling wrong because it is complemented by feeling right. However, that does not mean right and wrong are balanced. Dualism is not about balance because that cancels out contrasts, thus duality (read more about that here). Instead, dualism is about the dynamic interaction between opposites, for example, breathing in and out. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

APPENDIX
If your vertigo is not too intense, you could approach it practically by doubting your experience and requesting the brain to correct it so the world does not seem to move around you.

But if your vertigo is caused by a physical problem, such as tiny crystals of calcium that have gotten loose in the inner ear, you deal with it materially. Maybe you consult a healthcare professional or do the Epley exercise. But if your reason for doing that is to get it over and done with, you are most likely fixated on returning to things as they were.

It is impossible to experience something because it takes more than one to do so, and there is no more than that which is One. But since you are reading this, you believe it is possible to be and have more than one. Hence you must feel what and where you believe in being, to undo this belief.

Thus you do not feel fine regardless of the outcome like you do when you perceive your reasoning as ‘it is what it is.’ As aforementioned, this perception replaces a singular argument with a dualistic one. Which one that could be, you must explore yourself because this article is about to finish.

If this seems abrupt, and your reaction is astonishment, please perceive it as ‘it is what it is,’ to feel the interaction of astonishment and calmness. Therefore, since you are in the duality flow, you move on to other duality pairs, such as abrupt/gradual, beginning/end, or expectation/surprise. If you do not stop the duality flow by avoiding or enhancing one of the parts in a duality pair, you, eventually, are blown away by the interaction of opposites. Thus nobody walks a path without distance or direction to that which is everywhere since it is formless, thus endless, namely non-duality.

To be continued in Alexius’ childhood.

*) The article Psycho-Physiological Dizziness Syndrome describes vertigo as a psychological problem more detailed than here but not aligned with the foundation of Alexius’ Duality Hacks.

**) Alexius does not write about something he has not encountered himself. So he knows the perception ‘it is what it is’ works in the way he put forth. In his case, though, he does not only use the fulfilment that comes from the duality flow to deal with the world of duality in a relaxed way but as a stepping stone to glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. Thus he goes to sleep bathed in light and wakes up in the morning hearing ethereal harmonies. Read more about that here
