The fake link between physical and psychological issues [DRAFT]

Updated October 3, 2022

Those who think their body should be transformed and become more spiritual need to be more physical. The body is solely material. Hence it cannot be mixed with something immaterial. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Duality Hacks in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from reading about the perception ‘it is what it is’ in hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to be happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

For years there has been an unhealthy idea about uniting body, mind and soul. But the body is a physical unit built to deal with material matters, not mental, emotional or metaphysical ones – like cyberspace cannot contain anything physical. In other words, the assumed link between a problem in the psyche and the body, or vice versa, is make-believe. How to undo that is what hack #4.3 The toxic mix of physical and non-physical issues explores.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is natural to feel tired after working, jogging or something else that requires much energy. But if you respond with worries to feeling exhausted and assume those feelings are connected, you feel like collapsing. But since it is a made-up feeling, thus unnatural, there is nothing that can heal it.

But if you deal with tiredness in a physical manner, the problem is probably solved by a good night’s sleep. And if you deal with worries where they are, namely in the mental sphere, you will see it has nothing to do with feeling tired but inferior because feeling exhausted triggers old feelings of not making it. But you made it. That is why you are tired. And you will feel anew after resting the body.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Although the clothes and the body wearing them seem closely related, they do not understand each other. The clothes have no love or anything else to give the body and vice versa. Likewise, immateriality and materiality have nothing to give each other. Their reality is different. That is why psychological ideas of how to attain physical wellness do not work.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since psychological issues seem to impact the body greatly, many conclude they are connected. But that is like assuming clothes are connected with the body. They have absolutely nothing in common.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The body is made to interact with structures that, like itself, are material. That is why the body interprets your attempts to integrate it with non-physical feelings or ideas of spirituality as an attack on its integrity, which it must defend itself against.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You will never find anything physical in the digital world. Likewise, you never see something physical in the psychological sphere or vice versa. That is why the concept of a body-mind connection is a scam.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Non-physical feelings are fleeting, so if you want to make them last, you must combine them with something more lasting, like physical feelings. However, immateriality and materiality do not mix, so their combination is purely speculative. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The nature of non-physical feelings is fleeting, so if you experience a specific one continuously, it is not due to the feeling but to you. You probably have combined it with a physical sensation in the body, which is more substantial and may last a long time. Therefore, imagining the psychological feeling in the stomach, for example, you seem to experience it every time you get physical pain in the stomach.

But if it is an exceptional experience of love you want to keep, you probably combine it with a pleasant physical notion in the heart. And if it is a hateful memory you want to hold onto, you link it with physical unpleasantness in the chest. However, just as you cannot combine a wall with the wind, fusing a body with an abstract feeling is impossible. Yet, it is possible to mentally blend the experience of physicality and psychology so that whenever you experience a specific kind of love, you think you feel something nice in the heart. And whenever you feel hatred towards someone, you sense something weird in the chest. In both cases, it is a mental experience based on the wish to extend a psychological feeling by imagining it is linked with a physical experience.

Since you believe in feeling something in the heart or chest that is not there, you have a problem you cannot address. That is until you split this psychosomatic disorder into immaterial and material issues and deal with them on each term. Should breaking up the psychosomatic disorder seem difficult, forget about it.

Instead, perceive your reaction to the perceived problem in the chest as ‘it is what it is.’ That renders your response indefinable. Therefore, since the body is set free from your opinion, it can outline the physical part of the combo and heal it in agreement with physical laws. Most likely, the problem is the muscles. They have tightened up to defend against your attempt to use the body to manifest non-physical issues. In that case, you can help the body by massaging it with fasciae tools from Blackroll, for example. However, to ensure there is no hidden heart problem, it is good to consult a health care professional.

The psychological feeling only seems sticky or hidden when imagined combined with something lasting. But undoing this fantasy may at first seem like torture because it involves facing the suppressed emotion or at least being willing to do it. No worries, as long as you do not edit the unpleasantness, it will not remain for long because the nature of psychological feelings is to pass on when looked at where they are, namely in the psychological sphere. Read more about this process in Sadness is a close friend of gladness.

Unfortunately, most people do not want to undo the belief in a body-mind connection. On the contrary, they want to uphold their imagined union of immaterial and material issues as real so that they can extend specific emotions and thus remain in fantasies of being forever in love, for example. Should their extended feelings be questioned, they refer to the bodily symptoms they claim are caused by psychological issues.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When we project the weaknesses of our personality onto how we feel vulnerable parts of the body, such as the stomach, our perceived flaws seem to have been erased from our awareness. That is how we fool ourselves into believing we have been transformed. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

You have excluded from your awareness what you do not like about yourself by imagining it is linked with the feeling of a vulnerable part of the body. Therefore, since your psychological issues seem hidden inside physical problems, you unconsciously resist healing the physical difficulties that you imagine are blended with psychological problems.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you see a scary movie that is experienced as real, it is because it feels like fear builds up in your body. However, the film has no power to do that. What you sense in the body is purely physical. It is not caused by the events in the movie but by how you perceive them.

You perceive the events as scary because you have conditioned yourself to interpret specific scenarios like that. And to make fear real, you project it onto a body part that already is tense and seems to get tenser when you give it your attention. Thus it feels as if the movie affects your body.

Sometimes, it goes the other way around. For example, you have a stomach ache, but it does not add meaning to your life. So you imagine a psychological issue from your past causes the pain. Unfortunately, this perceived combination results in an incurable psychosomatic disorder – especially because the psychological part most likely is pieced together.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Projecting psychological feelings onto the body and expecting them to go away when the body is fixed is like placing those feelings in your smartphone and thinking they to go away when the phone is repaired. No matter the material object you imagine to insert psychological feelings into, they remain in the psychological sphere. Hence it is there they must be dealt with.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot avoid events you see as sad, but you can refrain from perceiving them like that. That naturally occurs for the basic self. Thus it has no need for special events to make it happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It does not rain because you feel sad, nor does the rain has the power to make you feel bad. That is unless you choose to perceive such a course and effect. Likewise, the body cannot make you sad, nor does feeling unhappy make the body bad unless you imagine such a connection.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you do not look for anything to make you feel better, your reaction to everything automatically is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ Consequently, there is not something to upset you. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Many people turn the body’s signals into mental messages by dematerialising the body – the genital zone, for example, is dematerialised via tantra sex. Read more about sex here. Thus it seems you mentally can decide that the signals from the abandoned areas are spiritual. But there is no spirituality in the body. On the contrary, the body is material. That is why it defends itself against the attempts to combine it with non-physical issues by turning it into a weapon against you.

Even though this feels distressing, you accept it because this further disrupts the natural flow of communication between the body and the brain, so you, not the brain, seem to be the body’s boss. However, the body does not understand the thought-up vision of a body-mind-soul connection. So again, it attacks your ideas of integrating it with spirituality by making the body suffer. And on it goes until you stop inflicting the body with your ideas of unity.

Fortunately, it does not matter how abused your body is regarding applying Alexius’ Duality Hacks. They bring you into a state of not-knowing regardless of the body. In this state, the slate is wiped clean, So when you return to the consciousness of being someone, the foolish ideas of a body-mind-soul connection are gone. Thus your body is happy, and since you appear to be in it, so are you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Most do not feel and see the body as it is. Instead, they have a vision of what it will feel and look like in the future when they have successfully imposed their ideas of perfection upon it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you perceive your response to an experience as ‘I know what it is,’ it is based on a quick look at different points of view to see which one establishes you as in the know. The feeling of stress that this entails is not solved before you stop insisting, ‘I know what it is,’ and instead perceive your response as ‘it is what it is.’ This perception does not require you are on top of it. Thus, you are at peace.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When your reaction to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ the specific meaning you decided your response opens up and reveals it is not singular but twofold. Therefore, paired with being pure, lust does not make you feel ashamed but joyful. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The fastest way to repair a psychosomatic disorder is to not perceive it as ‘I know what it is but ‘it is what it is.’ The first view is definite, whereas the second one does not have a monocratic but dualistic approach. Hence the second view aligns you with dualism, and since you are in a world of duality, this is the way to go if you want to feel complete.

In other words, to start the healing of a psychosomatic disorder, there is nothing you need to change but your perception of your reaction to it. Read more about that in The body is made to deal with physical issues, not psychological ones.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Sometimes, the breath is held back to prevent pain in a problematic body area. That is not healthy, nor is pushing the breath through it. Both approaches imply you believe that you are in control. However, you would quickly die if you should remember to breathe.

The solution to this is not to let the breath be. This idea also implies you are in charge. The key is to step back so that what you believe in being is out of the way. That is done by perceiving the fear that your problem seems to cause as ‘it is what it is.’ It reveals fear is not alone. It is complemented by confidence, defined by fear that outlines confidence.

In this interplay, called the duality flow, you feel complete, thus free. Therefore, since there is no attempt to interfere with the breath, it runs freely despite physical issues. Read more about the duality flow in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Whatever is perceived in the psyche to affect the body or in the body to affect the psyche is made-up connections. Fortunately, they are undone when you perceive your reaction to the effect as ‘it is what it is.’ However, you may feel empty when the idea of a body-mind connection goes down the drain. No worries. Soon you realise how laid-back life is without this fake unity.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Applying one or more of Alexius’ Duality Hacks reestablishes the connection between the body and the brain. Not by healing the body, though, but by undoing the foolish belief that you are connected with it. Hence it becomes like a coat you wear. It follows you, but you are worlds apart.

4.3 The psychological and physical sphere does not mix

Updated October 5, 2022

If you feel rejected, there is no reason for the body to suffer. Nor is there any reason for not feeling good if the body suffers from an illness. That is, if you do not mix a psychological problem with a physical one into a psychosomatic disorder. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Duality Hacks in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from reading hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy.

In a world of duality, everything comes in pairs, where the opposing elements depend on each other. For example, you cannot breathe out without breathing in and vice versa. Although it is unrealistic to mix the elements in a duality pair, it is common to believe that you can integrate physical and non-physical issues. However, it is like trying to blend breathing in and out. You fuck up duality.

That said, since non-duality is formless, thus endless, duality is a fantasy. Hence everything in a world of duality, regardless of appearing physical or not, is as airy as a dream. In other words, it is only within the context of duality that something seems substantial or unsubstantial. And since you assume to be someone reading this on tangible media, you believe to be in a world of duality.

You cannot undo that belief if you do not acknowledge it by living it. Hence it is best not to separate or combine the opposing elements in a duality pair but respect their interdependency. However, it is a common belief that physical and non-physical issues can be connected, so this hack explores how to correct that mistake.

Allhough projections are not real, they appear to be if you hide that their apparent effect is self-made. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When you denigrate others to make yourself feel good, you live in constant fear of retaliation. Hence you turn the body into a weapon of defence or attack by respectively keeping your shoulders deadlocked in a backwards or forward position.

That makes the muscles inflexible, wherefore they, eventually, start to ache. The solution to your attack on the body is to acknowledge, you have chosen hurt it. By doing that, the body is not to blame. Thus it relaxes.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL PROBLEMS MUST BE HEALED WHERE THEY ORIGINATE:
In the mental sphere, you perceive yourself as someone in a body defined by time and space. But since that which is you is formless, thus without beginning and end, it is painful to be reduced to someone limited by time and space.

Nevertheless, it is a pain that makes you feel like someone in a material world. When you pinch yourself to determine whether you are dreaming, the experience of pain makes you decide that you are a substantial being in a tangible world.

Since your existence is bracketed with pain, you need to suffer to feel alive. And since being someone in a world defined by time and space is based on separating yourself from the formlessness of oneness, disassociating is also what you resort to in making the pain bearable. Thus you hide the worst part of your psychological distress from your awareness by projecting it onto the body.

Somehow you sense the physical discomfort experienced in the body comes from somewhere else. But instead of acknowledging that you projected psychological problems onto the body, you choose to blame the world for your discomfort. Then, to deal with its expected counterattack, you turn the body into a weapon of defence or attack against the world by keeping the shoulders pushed forward into a defensive position or pushed back into a place of constant readiness to attack.

That makes you feel safer and as if you are in control. Especially if you push one of the shoulders upwards to constrict that area further. It prevents the signals in the body from passing through the shoulders to the brain. Maybe the signals are not totally stopped but ever so slightly is enough for you to believe the brain is defeated, so you can take over as the boss and mentally decide what goes on in the body. Since this distance you from what you feel in the body, it seems less frightening than when the brain deals with the body’s feelings.

A way to keep negative feelings hidden inside the body is to hold the mouth closed, even when you smile. Hence it is as if no bad emotion slips out. However, everything comes in pairs in a world of duality. So if you exclude negativity, positivity is also banned. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Women tend to allow the body’s emotions to flow to the brain. But they prevent the expression of feelings processed by the brain by replacing them with a mental story in which a woman is the expert of emotions, both her own and others. Her made-up insight she uses to manipulate others into acknowledging her as a unique and caring person.

Generally, men also want to be acknowledged as unique. So they prevent the body’s emotions from reaching the brain. Thus they can make up a story where men, like heroes, do the right thing regardless of feelings. Unfortunately, this way of hiding their feelings stiffens the left side of the body, whereas the woman’s approach hardens the right side. There are many opinions about how to restore the body. But since the disruption is caused by the idea that you master the body, the problem is in the mental sphere, where you feel inferior.

The brain loves when its experiences make you believe you are something, so you do not discover what you experience is fantasy it has made from nothing.

However, that is a misunderstanding based on the perception that you are definitive and not dual. Fortunately, it is easily corrected. Suppose your definite response to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals everything in a world of duality, so to feel abandoned, for example, is complemented by feeling supported. Since twofoldness makes you feel together, you do not doubt you are good enough as you are.

Ultimately, you are not dual, nor anything else, because reality is non-dual and it takes more than one to be something. But like you adjust to the concept of a computer game, you adjust to twofoldness when playing the game of duality.

Therefore, since you do not interfere with the body to make you look more perfect, its feelings flow freely to the brain, which has the body’s blueprint, thus knowing how to restore the body.

You cannot mix a circle and a square, nor the psychological and physical domain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE FUSION OF MATERIAL AND IMMATERIAL ISSUES IS MAKE-BELIEVE:
To disassociate yourself from anger, you exclude the feeling from your awareness by dumping it in the body’s darkness. At least, this is how a psychologist explains it. But immaterial issues cannot be hidden in something material – like you cannot hide the wind inside a wall. So what actually happens is that you imagine combining psychological pain with an existing physical pain in the back, for example.

When you once have concluded your anxiety is caused by physical pain, you by reflex look for the same connection every time you are worried. Hence you automatically search the body for a flaw that can explain you feel worried. That is until you do not try to explain it away, but perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’

That reveals your anxiety is in constant interaction with pleasure to define each other. Therefore, since feeling worried includes being delighted and vice versa, there is no need to get rid of of your worries to feel good. On the contrary, you need them to feel geniuly delighted.

Therefore, since the psychological problem is sensed to be the same as the discomfort from the physical issue in the back, you believe the psychological pain is gone. That is why you, after having tried this method once, automatically combine an immaterial problem with a material one to make it go away.

But as already said, a psychological issue cannot be combined with a physical one. Consequently, its perceived result, namely a psychosomatic disorder, is impossible to heal unless seen as two problems: A psychological one that feels like anxiety for something diffused. And a physical problem that is experienced as more straightforward and matter-of-fact.

Best not to try to analyse or understand those two feelings. Instead, experience your emotional issue unedited and then perceive your reaction to it asit is what it is.’ Since that takes the edge of it, you do not need to get rid of your psychological problem by combining it with the experience of a physical one. Therefore, since the body does not feel invaded by a non-physical issue, it does not need to defend itself by attacking this and that. Instead, it uses its energy to fix physical problems.

Be aware, though, whether you project psychological issues on the body or not, it remains the same because non-material matters do not change the body – only the way you perceive it. Also, be aware that the purpose of Alexius’ Duality Hack is not to heal the body but the sick belief that someone is in it.

But even though Alexius’ Duality Hacks only heal the belief that you are someone in a body, having that belief undone, ever so slightly, you do not want to interfere with the body’s ways. But you may wish to assist it. In the case of Alexius, he uses nootropics to boost the brain, far-infrared heating pads to soften the body, rollers from Blackroll to loosen muscles, and Nordic Walking to energise the body. That is not to say you should do the same. Bodies are different, so your body may ask for something else. If in doubt, consult a health care professional.

APPENDIX 1: WHERE IS THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SPHERE?
The psychological sphere is anywhere but in bodily feelings. So when you bring back into awareness the psychological feelings you have hidden in your body, you face them anywhere but in the body. And since the psychological sphere is airy, one look is enough to make it vanish and reveal its opposite. For example, one look at hate replaces it with love, which, when looked at, is replaced by hate.

In other words, hate and love constantly interact to define each other. Going with this interaction in the psychological zone, you feel complete. And doing that, you see everything comes in pairs of opposing opposites in a world of duality. That is what makes it fun to experience it. That is, if you do not imagine hiding one part of a duality pair in the body. Then duality seems a disaster. Also, if you imagine the opposing parts of a duality pair are united. That is like trying to unite breathing in and out.

The opposing elements in a duality pair must be kept separate to constantly interact and thus entail the duality flow, making the body free to deal with itself in a physical manner since you do not project non-physical issues onto it.

Defocusing is beneficial in not focusing on the body but sensing the airy feelings in the psychological zone. Read more about defocusing in the articles Defocusing cancels out contrasts, thus duality and The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them. And read more about duality pairs and the duality flow in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

It is also beneficial to remember that although a physical problem can be serious, it is most likely not as worrisome as it appears when combined with psychological feelings. Thus there is no need for this spanking of yourself.

If pain in the mind is not denied the words that seems to cause the pain cannot hurt, but words projected onto the body – your own or somebody else´s – seems to be able to hurt and confirm the believe, that you are a person to be defined by time and space.

Feelings or thoughts you do not like, you hide from your awareness by imagining they can be dumped in the body. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

APPENDIX 2: THE BODY IS PHYSICAL:
Think of a movie you watch as a metaphor for the physical. The mental zone cannot be seen. It is something you add yourself to the movie. Yet, it does not change anything but your perception of it.

In other words, in the context of the world where we appear, everything is made of matter. However, contrary to a body in a movie, your body has feelings – but only physical ones. If it seems to have psychological feelings, you have projected them onto the body to make it appear more significant or the emotions more substantial. It could also be that you want to hide psychological issues from your awareness behind something physical, as described above.

But just like nothing changes in a movie, regardless of what you project onto it, nothing is transformed in your body when you project non-bodily issues on it. It only seems so if you envision that mentally.

The obsession with the look and performance you expect from the body causes much trouble. If you want to be free from that, the belief that you are someone in a body must be undone.

Please be aware this metaphor is made within the reality of duality. In non-duality, there is nothing tangible or intangible because there is no division like in a world of duality. However, appearing to be in such a world, you must play the polarity game if you want to end it. That does not mean you have to make an effort or understand it. Like in a board game, you move by the dice. And when the meaning you assign to the result is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ you see your response is twofold, wherefore you are in the duality flow. Thus on the way without distance to non-duality. See hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

CANCELLEX Being in sync with the brain’s script or not

Updated September 29, 2022

What you believe to be can be compared to a smartphone. Although it can do thousands of things, it depends entirely on its operator – just like you do on the brain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE FEAR OF BEING NOBODY MAKES YOU DEPENDENT ON THE BRAIN
Although the basic self feels free to follow the brain and the special self believes it is free from it, none is free. Since the brain processes all experiences, also those believed to come from the heart, higher consciousness and whatnot, we are a product of the brain. The special self denies this and opposes the brain. But what you fight, you need. However, the basic self does not hide its brain dependency but happily counts on it.

And just like a magician’s tricks are laid bare, the more you watch them, the experiences of the brain are exposed as nothing, the more you follow them. Hence the basic self sooner or later realises that it is a fantasy of the brain. Consequently, the illusion of being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one does not seem to hide that there never was or will be anything but that which is One.

Alexius hates the brain’s script when he wakes up to the smell of cat piss on the floor. However, he does not try to reduce his hate by thinking his cats are sweet and innocent. He hates them, too, for pissing on the floor. But if he stands by all his hate, it defines all his love. Thus the interaction of love and hate makes him feel like walking on clouds when he cleans the floor. Read about the joy of the duality flow in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.  Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

RELATING TO THE BRAIN’S SCRIPT
The special self is so removed from its basic being that it thinks it needs to be grounded or transformed into something higher. But, on the other hand, the basic self has no need to change because it relates to the thoughts coming from the brain as they are, thus in sync with the present experience processed by the brain.

This does not necessarily mean the present experience makes you feel good, but as long as your reaction to it refers to the brain’s thoughts, you will feel entertained whether they seem to make you angry or calm.

Nor does it mean your life gets more consistent. Maybe you get an impulse to read this article in the middle of doing the dishes, and so you go reading it, regardless of being the basic or special self, because the brain is always in charge.

The special self does not relate to the present experience produced by the brain but how it envision it. Thus it feels disconnected.

But since the special self feels insecure, this is triggered by the perceived inconsistency. So it blames the brain for holding it down and distances itself from it by claiming to come from the heart. But this experience, like any other, is processed by the brain, so its independence is an illusion.

On the other hand, the basic self perceives the apparent disturbance as an integrated part of the day’s entertainment. That is, if it senses any disruption at all. Most likely not, because the basic self feels fulfilled, so it has no need to perceive anything as inconsistent.

The special self wants to be free of the brain, but the only one oppressing it is itself. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Practically speaking you are always in sync with the brain. You cannot choose not to follow its script of duality. But you can choose to think you know a better way. However, this does not change anything other than you you do not feel connected because the script goes on as programmed by the brain.

In other words, being in sync with the brain’s script of duality is not a matter of waiting for things to happen according to the manuscript. They always do. It is simply a matter of perceiving your reaction to it as ´it is what it is.´ By doing so, you see your response is not singular but twofold. Thus you are in sync with the script of duality.

BEING IN SYNC WITH THE BRAIN’S SCRIPT OR NOT
If you perceive the sun to go up and down, your perception is out of sync with the brain’s script because the sun does not go up and down. Instead, what and where you believe in being goes up and down.

If your perception is in sync with the speed of the Earth and thus of you moving with it, you feel calm inside while racing outside.

Therefore, your perception is not coordinated with what is going on, namely that your feet are spinning at around 1.000 miles an hour while the entire planet is hurtling around the sun at 67.000 miles an hour. Hence you will not feel the thrill of moving at such a high rate, but the depression from a static perception founded on unstable thoughts.

This stagnant perception, which is the one society supports, is meant to make you think that fulfilment does not come from not resonating with the present movement as it is but with a slowed-down version of it that gives you time to make a perception of yourself where you look powerful, humble, balanced, active or whatever you reckon will make appear more impressive.

Feeling the pulsation of the moment, however, there is no time to make up a perception where you seem to be significant, nor is there any need to do that because the body shivers with ecstasy as if an earthquake of tenderness shakes it.

In the case of Alexius, he sometimes feels that it is like listening to the Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnyk playing extremely rapid, intricate patterns of notes, which produce overtones so trance-inducing that a cascade sound of purity makes you forget, it is ignited by the speed and complexity underneath it. Read more about that here.

There is no right way to perceive the complexity of a moment. But as long as the perception relates to it and not to an edited and simplified version of it, every perception will make you feel good. So good, indeed, that the inherent speed may bring about glimpses of Enlightenment (read about glimpses of Enlightenment here).

The special self may claim it wants this, but that is a lie. It fears speed because that prevents it from controlling its appearance. Hence it meditates or something else to slow things down so that it has the time to consume static stuff like books and clothes and become wiser and more beautiful in the future, which it imagines will make it more loved.

Perceiving the brain’s script as ‘it is what it is,’ you can count on always being in sync with it, thus feeling entertained. Being that you are not so far from the perception, ‘dunno what it is,’ which connects you with the empty breath* and its bliss of nothing instead of the brain’s entertainment of something. Read more in hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

To appear as if you are in a world of something but not of it and thus in the bliss of nothing, you can neither be in nor out of sync with the brain’s script because both ways ratify that you are in its world of something as well as of it. So unlike the basic self who basically says ‘It is what it is’ and the special self who says ‘I know what it is,’ you say ‘Dunno what it is.’

When saying so, you do not ratify your present experience as something. Hence you go back to the nothingness from where the brain has used a second construct it. In other words, in linear time, you go back one second (read more about that here) to the gap the brain makes out between nothing and oneness. Physically speaking, you still appear to be someone in a world of something, but there is no awareness of being that. Thus you get the bliss of nothing (read more about that here).

NOTES ABOUT NOTHING

  • No matter how you experience the appearances on a computer screen and, where you believe the experience to come from, what you experience to be, there is not there. Every part of it is a simulation generated by the computer, and it only seems to be real if you want to perceive it like that.
  • Just like a dream is a construction of nothing that never leaves the dreamer, although it seems to happen in a world outside of it, the self and the world that appears to be outside of it is a construction of nothing that never leaves the brain, regardless of what and where the self believes to be.

the self cannot have a conscious experience of being someone if it does not endorse the experiences of a tangible world as real because otherwise, there is not something to confirm its existence as someone substantial in a tangible world.

In other words, if you ignore the stream of thoughts the brain makes to simulate the existence of a tangible world, you will senseyou are a fantasy of the brain.

In other words, when being someone substantial in a tangible world does not seem appealing, one should ignore the stream of thoughts the brain makes to simulate the existence of such a world. Nor should one try to stop or change it, but to sense the nothingness the brain has twisted into this stream of something.

However, this is not possible while experiencing being someone in a world that seems to consist of something. But as the experience of something takes the brain one second to make (read more about that here), you can sense the unprocessed version of an experience at the beginning of that second, thus entering the bliss of not-knowing what the brain makes you experience one second later.

What it is

Updated September 28, 2022

There are many parallel universes in the brain. Like in a computer game, they are in the code that determines the subsequent events caused by your choices. Since this is encrypted, you cannot know the outcome of your decisions. Yet, they play out as arranged in advance by the brain. In other words, you can decide which way to go but not the result. However, you are free to perceive your reaction to the outcome as you like. If the perception is singular, you are out of sync with the brain’s script of duality, thus feeling frustrated. But if it is twofold, it is synced with duality, wherefore you feel entertained – just like you do when synced with a movie’s plot. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

3 X WHAT IT IS:
When your reaction to the brain’s script, for example disgust, is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ you feel disgusted is complemented with love. And just like going up and down in a rollerskater is amusing, so is the constant interaction of disgust and love. But perceiving your disgust response as ‘I know what it is,’ you do not feel entertained but frustrated because this perception establishes disgust as definitive. Therefore, both going up and down feels terrifying.

If your response is perceived as ‘dunno what it is,’ you do not care about establishing disgust as a distinct feeling or complementing it with love because you are in the bliss of nothing. It is like watching a movie where you do not get the plot. Therefore, as its progress does not seem to add up to something, you are not troubled by anything. Thus after 20 minutes, 45 at the most, you do not experience anything. Consequently, nothing hides there never was or will be anything but that which cannot be experienced, namely the formlessness of oneness.

Since this is the end of the illusion that someone is experiencing something, you should not maintain the perception of ‘dunno what it is’ for too long at a time if you want to return to the experience of being someone. In that case, you better cycle between ‘dunno what it is’ and ‘it is what it is.’ That is a shift between being nobody in the bliss of nothing and somebody in the twofoldness of something. You can read more about going back and forth between the experience of being a non-self and a self in Going everywhere and nowhere with the empty breath.

In conclusion, the perception ‘it is what it is’ rules out egoistic behaviour and ‘I know what it is’ endorses it. Yet most people prefer the latter because it makes them feel in control. However, since it requires much self-discipline to maintain the claim ‘I know what it is,’ they feel imprisoned. That goes away when the perception ‘I know what it is’ is replaced with ‘it is what it is.’ Nevertheless, hardly anybody wants this change because it endangers their sense of being unique. Hence they stick to ‘I know what it is’ by never being in the present moment but dreaming up the next one, so it seems to support ‘I know what it is.’

Even though a dream is made of nothing, it is experienced as something. Likewise, the world you believe to see with open eyes. According to science, it became something when nothing exploded in the big bang. In other words, no matter how you interpret your experiences, they are nothing disguised as something. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The perception, ‘dunno what it is’ rules out the brain, which many claims they want but few choose. Probably because, without the brain’s support, there is no self. After all, it is a creation of the brain. So almost everybody continues their ambivalent relationship with the brain’s experiences of something instead of entering into the bliss of nothing. Read more about selflessness in hack #5.2 The empty breath and the bliss of nothing.

No matter what perception we select, the brain’s script goes on as scheduled. That does not mean you are bound to go a specific way. You are free to choose directions. But no matter what you decide, the brain already has arranged the subsequent events – like you cannot do anything in a computer game that is not part of the script. Read more about the brain’s script here.

When you do not share experiences of love or anything else with someone perceived to be different from you, separation gets undone.

But as mentioned above, the script does not go on if you stick to the perception’ dunno what it is’ for more than 20 minutes, 45 at the most. When you do not participate in an ongoing conversation in your head, separation is not confirmed. Therefore, since oneness does not seem to be split into more than one, the brain has no elements to bunch up into a world with more than one. Thus it falls into a coma.

Those who claim to be spiritual are often looking for special experiences, which they will have plenty of when they forget about spirituality because it cannot be experienced. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

DUNNO WHAT IT IS:
As soon as your perception changes to ‘dunno what it is,’ all perceived tensions in the body lie down. Therefore, since the natural flow of info between the body and the brain is not blocked anymore, the body can get the information it needs from the brain to heal itself. Read more about that in hack #4.3 The toxic mix of physical and non-physical issues.

That is, of course, until you interrupt the healing by insisting on ‘I know what it is.’ That is not to say that you cannot help the brain restore the body. Nootropics, for example, may kickstart the process. A healthcare professional knows how to deal with zoonotic diseases like HIV, Mers and COVID-19, or other sicknesses caused by human interference with the world’s ecosystems – and, of course, problems like a broken arm or heart-related issues.

However, if you want to bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One is (read more about that in hack #6.1 The Enlightenment of that which is One), and, thus, the complete undoing of the belief in being someone, the condition of the body is not essential. But a sound body seems crucial to have a satisfactory experience of being a substantial being in a tangible world.

Should you not like to use the perception’ dunno what it is’ to disintegrate tensions, you can use the technique described in the paragraph The taste of life in The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them. In this context, there is no need to focus on the taste. Actually, you use the technique for its capability to defocus, thus disintegrating tensions. Applied only for that, you can use it as much as you like, whenever you are not engaged in talking and eating.

A little friend of Alexius. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius started to apply the technique for The taste of life about 50 years ago. But he cannot remember when he became aware of its side effect of defocussing and thus dissolving psychological problems projected onto the body. So maybe this takes a while, or he did not notice it at first.

Anyway, getting the tongue as close to the uvula as you can is good enough when the purpose is to defocus. See The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them.

Implementing the technique may feel like taking tranquillisers without side effects and expenses. You can also use far-infrared heating pads on tight areas if you like. And sometimes music is helpful. In this regard, Alexius likes Hanan Townshend, but you may prefer somebody else.

Be aware, though, that the release of tensions may, at first, feel like a descent into hell because, without the blockages to stop the natural flow in the body, it casts out everything you have inflicted on the body to support your self-glorifying vision of mastering it. See also Sadness is a close friend of gladness.

If you try to see reason, coherence, purpose or something else that makes your life seem spiritual, you will never get the relaxation and satisfaction that comes from the perception ‘it is what it is.’ Instead, you get the stress and despair that derives from seeking out thoughts to confirm ‘I know what it is.’

If every comment popping up inside of you about your impression of this photo is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ nothing has been added or subtracted from the experience of the image. Thus you are in sync with your experience of it. But you are not in sync if you rearrange the comments, so they seem to prove ‘I know what it is.’ However, like parents also love their naughty kids, the brain loves you just the same. But only the basic self feels the love. The special self is so busy looking for something better that it does not notice the love gently flowing from the brain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE HAPPINESS OF SOMETHING AND THE BLISS OF NOTHING:
It can be pretty challenging to change one’s perception from ‘I know what it is’ to ‘it is what it is’ because the former perception is secured by massive muscle tension. And although you may like to get rid of them, you hold back because the tensions block off the communication between the body and the brain, wherefore you think you can integrate the body with your ideas of spirituality by forcing it into unnatural positions via yoga, for example.

But that is not possible. Spirituality is non-duality, and it requires more than one to combine something. Besides, there is nothing but non-duality since it is formless, thus endless. Consequently, the experience of being someone in a world of duality is fake. However, while you believe it is real, the body should be handled within the context of duality – just like you deal with the experience of being someone in a computer game within its parameters.

Everything in duality comes in pairs, so being in sync with it does not mean you only have the experience of an external world but also an internal one. See hack #6.3 The inward-facing senses, Enlightenment and its glimpses. Going with their interaction, you are in sync with the limitations of duality as orchestrated by the brain.

Since non-duality is formless, thus without beginning and end, it is everything. This does not mean, it includes the experience of duality. On the contrary. Formlessness cannot be experienced, so everything experienced is fake. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings are written within concept of duality. They do not claim to be non-dual or to know what it is, since that requires more than one. But they claim to know what is not non-duality, namely everything experienced because it takes more than one to be conscious of something.

Regardless of being in sync with duality, the brain injects you with shots of happiness because it loves all its creations. But the special self does not feel it because it rejects everything not perceived to be made by itself. And the basic self gets so ecstatic that it eventually perceives duality as ‘dunno what it is.’ That may happen while you walk in the city, sit on a bench in the park, watch a movie, or are about to fall asleep. You do not have to stop or do anything in particular to enter the bliss of nothing. Read more about that here.

When you again return to experiencing a world of something, you know it is made of nothing. Thus you can turn it off like you leave a dream, namely, by recognising there is nothing in it, nor you, because you are in your bed. T

herefore, metaphorically speaking, from your bed, you can have fun appearing as someone in the dream of duality by shifting between the perception ‘it is what it is’ anddunno what it is’ until you suddenly remember that you are not in the dream of duality, nor anywhere else because that takes more than one, and there is no more than One since non-duality is formless, thus endless.

‘I know what it is’ vs ‘it is what it is’ vs ‘dunno what it is’

Updated September 29, 2022

Suppose you see yourself on top of it and know where to go. In that case, try to imagine you do not know. Then feel which of the approaches makes the body relax. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Duality Hacks in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from reading hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the brain’s script is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ your dark feelings are not excluded but included. This perception, therefore, is not a way to the dullness of detachment but the vitality of involvement. And it is very close to the nothingness from where the brain scripts its story of duality. Not as close, though, as you get with the perception’ dunno what it is’ because it exposes all experiences are nothing.

That is why you get the bliss of nothing from perceiving your reaction to an experience as ‘dunno what it is,’ whereas you get the sadness of something specific from ‘I know what it is,’ and the happiness of duality from ‘it is what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the self-perception of the special self is built upon the perception ‘I know what it is,’ it rejects what would make it relax, namely the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self and the special one are bound to follow the GPS coordinates it gets from the brain without making side trips of their own. They do not have the power to change the journey – only how to perceive it. Their perception of that, though, is very different. The basic self basically perceives everything as ‘it is what it is,’ and the special one as ‘I know what it is.’

That is why it is easy for the basic self to be someone and hard work for the special one. It has to make a special perception of each experience, reflecting that ‘I know what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When your reaction to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ there is no need to make anything disappear. But when the perception is ‘I know what it is,’ everything unknown must be avoided to make you look like you are on top of it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It feels like something is missing when you perceive your reaction to an experience as ‘I know what it is’ because the perception is based on suppressing what does not fit your specific view. But if your response is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ you feel complete because your reaction is revealed as twofold. The perception, ‘dunno what it is,’ does neither result in a specific feeling nor twofoldness. Thus you are in the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self does not want to perceive the experience of itself as ‘it is what it is.’ Instead, it wants to change it into something imagined as more beautiful than others, even though it feels ugly inside. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Only the brain can make you feel good enough because nobody else knows what you are. To get its approval, all you need is to perceive your reaction to the experience it processes of you as ‘it is what it is’. Actually, you do not even have to do that. If you do not interfere in the brain’s workings, it automatically makes this perception.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You feel happy when your reaction to the experiences the brain makes for you is perceived as ‘it is what it is’ because that reveals they are twofold: Hence you are in sync with the brain’s script of duality.

But suppose you, in an attempt to be free and independent of the brain, insist, ‘I know what it is.’ Then you are out of sync with the brain because you do not know who you are, so how can you know what anything is? Besides, everything comes in pairs in its world of duality. Therefore, since nothing is specific, you cannot know what goes on.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since making a specific perception takes a long time, it is often delayed, thus out of sync with the present moment. The frustration this entails only worsens if you try to solve it by using more time to process your experience. In contrast, using the brain’s default perception, ‘it is what it is,’ you are in sync with the present moment. Hence everything feels good.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The stories the special self makes about its greatness are not always consistent. Thus it often feels disorganised and wishes to be like those it perceives as organised. On the other hand, the basic self has no need to be anything other than in sync with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain by perceiving its reaction to it as ‘it is what it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

What does the expression of Alexius’ cat, Wincent, means? Alexius cannot know, but if he reckons that he does, he gets stressed from trying to make it true. On the other hand, if he perceives his reaction to Wincent as’ it is what it is,’ there is nothing to prove and thus no stress. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

For many years Alexius’ cat, Wincent, has more or less had the same routine. Wincent leaves the house every morning and returns when Alexius is still in bed. First, Wincent says something. Then he lays down next to Alexius and waits for him to get out of bed and give him food. At least, that is the obvious conclusion because as soon as Alexius takes the first step out of bed, Wincent runs out to the kitchen, where he, with big eyes, sits and waits for Alexius to give him something.

If Alexius believes he knows what is happening, he goes from the perception of the basic self, ‘it is what it is,’ to the perception of the special self, ‘I know what it is.’ Doing that, he most likely stresses out of bed to feed his beloved cat quickly, so he can establish being in the know. But Wincent does not get his food any sooner than if Alexius, as the basic self, had perceived Wincent’s behaviour as ‘it is what it is’ because the brain’s script runs its course, no matter how it is perceived. Therefore, in this sample, the only difference between the basic and special self is that the former feels relaxed when feeding Wincent and the latter very stressed.

In other words, life is effortless when you stick to the perception of the basic self. But having the perception of the special self, life seems stressful because you must always make sure it looks like you are in charge.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When your reaction to something in the body is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ there is not something specific to bother or amuse you. Hence you are free to go with the flow of thoughts as it comes from the brain. In other words, you are in the happiness that comes from being synced with the brain.

But when you perceive what you feel in the body as ‘I know what it is,’ you are not in sync with the flow of thoughts because nothing in the brain’s script of duality is definitive. Everything comes in pairs of opposites. So being specific, you are in the misery of believing to know something definitive.

If how you react to something in the body is perceived as ‘dunno what it is,’ you are not in the misery of being out of sync with the brain’s script because you do not know of a body that feels something. Consequently, you are in the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If what you do makes you feel bad, it does not indicate you should do something else because you are not in command. But you can choose how to perceive feeling bad as ‘it is what it is.’ Then the bad feeling is complemented by a good one. Therefore, since they as a team define each other, you also feel good when you feel bad and vice versa. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Triumph and disaster are not perceived as equally entertaining by the special self. Yet, this is precisely what they are if one of them is perceived as ‘it is what it is’ because it reveals there is no triumph without disaster and vice versa.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self constructs a perception of every experience, so it does not seem to endanger its default assumption, ‘I know what it is.’ Hence it can go on believing it is in control. But since that is a lie, it is bound to suffer emotionally and mentally.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not try to be someone definitive in a dream but naturally, go with the flow. If you, in retrospect, do not arrange your memories of a dream, so it seems coherent and meaningful, you are ready to be relative instead of definitive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self does not assume something will go on in a specific way because every experience is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ Thus getting old and unable to do what it used to is not a loss.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

No emotion needs to be escaped when every feeling is perceived as ‘it is what it is .’ Hence you are at peace.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the perception, ‘it is what it is,’ arises from not focusing on something specific, the technique for the taste of life will get you there if used gently. Applied more passionately, you get the perception’ dunno what it is.’ See The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Nobody, nor Alexius, is solely the basic self. The special self will exploit the innocence of the basic self. Fortunately, appearing special is not a problem for the basic self because it perceives its reaction to everything as ‘it is what it is.’ Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Perceiving a movie as cheap because it uses furniture from Ikea, you are probably out of sync with the plot. Hence it does not seem as entertaining as when your perception is synced with the story. However, this does not mean you must do something about your condemnation of Ikea to get in sync with the movie’s script.

All you need is to perceive your reaction to the furniture from Ikea as ‘it is what it is.’ When you do that, your response is revealed as twofold, wherefore, there is no specific reaction to prevent you from being in sync. Hence both the script and your misperception of it seem enjoyable. Likewise, when you perceive your response to the brain’s manuscript as ‘it is what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Roughly speaking, the perception of the special self is ‘I know what it is.’ In contrast, the basic self sticks to the brain-generated perception ‘it is what it is.’ The non-self in a state of not-knowing says ‘dunno what it is’ because it does not perceive the apparent differences in the experiences produced by the brain to make a difference.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the perception of your response to an experience is ‘I know what it is,’ you feel important but also exhausted because it requires much manipulation to make it look like you are in control. That is why the special self always needs more energy, contrary to the basic self, who feels fine whether out of energy because it has nothing to live up to.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the brain’s script contains every possible experience, being in sync with the brain, you are the past, the future and everything else but the formlessness of oneness since it cannot be experienced. Thus all you need to cross the apparent barrier to oneness is not to experience anything.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self wants to be free of the brain, but the only one oppressing it is itself. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When you perceive yourself as a victim of others, you are out of sync with the brain’s script because nobody causes anything but the brain, regardless it appears physical or immaterial. And everything it does is out of love for everyone. Fortunately, all that is needed to correct one’s misperception is to change to ‘it is what it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Practically speaking, you are always in sync with the brain. You cannot choose not to follow its script of duality. But you can choose to think you know a better way. However, this does not change anything other than you you do not feel connected because the script goes on as programmed by the brain.

In other words, being in sync with the brain’s script of duality is not a matter of waiting for things to happen, according to the manuscript. They always do. It is simply a matter of perceiving your reaction to it as ´it is what it is.´ By doing so, you see your response is not singular but twofold. Thus you are in sync with the script of duality.

Perception is everything when it comes to feeling happy

Updated September 27, 2022

When the brain supplies you with thoughts of fury, and you give it your best shot to perceive yourself as angry, you cannot help but feel happy. The same applies to any other so-called negative feeling, as long as you do not justify it with the world. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Duality Hacks in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from reading hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Going back to the basic self appears to be the goal for many spiritual seekers. They seem to think it is without ego and therefore live in the now, come from the heart and whatnot. They are right to assume that it is not egoistic because the basic self does not pretend to have its own thoughts. But it does not know about living in the now, coming from the heart or anywhere else but the brain – like a self-driving car is managed by The Cloud, no matter what and where the vehicle appears, it is in sync with the commands of the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Some confuse the basic self for being Enlightened. However, since the experience of being someone is fabricated by the brain and all experiences are erased by the Enlightenment of that which is One, what you believe in being cannot be Enlightened. For example, Alexius is not Enlightened but to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self always looks for a permanent state of mind. But that is impossible. Everything has a beginning and an end in a world of duality. You cannot have one without the other.

Fortunately, the end feels as entertaining as the beginning when your perception is in sync with the brain’s script. Hence there is no need for something to last for the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being on your own makes you feel small, which the special self expects to fix by getting the power it imagines comes from riches, going deeper or finding something higher, for example.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The more the special self can convince others that it can improve the world, the more powerful it appears to be, and the less it doubts itself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

For the special self, it is always about becoming better and bigger. So disguised as a do-gooder, it sends love and healing to someone it judges to have less than itself. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

If you think your car in a game like Monopoly actually can drive, your perception is out of sync with the play’s script. Consequently, the game does not seem amusing but frustrating. Likewise, if you believe what you appear to be in a world of duality is alive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being the basic self is like being in intensive care in a hospital, except that you are not sick, and still, somebody is watching out for you. Actually, it is the same for the special self, but contrary to the basic one, it does not enjoy it because it perceives itself as an independent being who takes care of itself. This perception is even more illusionary than believing to be someone because, within this belief, everything experienced is a product of the brain, including the experience of being independent of it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If the self-centred purpose of the special self is exposed, it will either deny it or say it is sorry and then go on precisely as before.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self thinks it creates its reality. But factually speaking, it is not different from the brain’s script because it cannot be changed. However, the special self assigns everything a new meaning. For example, somebody who dies is not seen as done for but as going on a new journey – or maybe it is karma, wherefore the dead soon return in another form. If someone questions those explanations, they are seen as attacking a higher truth. And if science proves this truth is wrong, the special self says their facts are a hoax.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As long as you relate to the brain’s script as it is and not as you think it should be, a relation between you and the brain is established. And since that confirms the foundation of the script, namely that there is more than that which is One, the brain is grateful. Hence it rewards you with shots of happiness. Read more about that here.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you do not want anything in particular, you do not need to fabricate an image of yourself as someone having something special. Thus the perception of yourself remains in sync with the brain’s manuscript. And since it is made for entertaining you, you feel amused no matter what you get.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Most of all, the special self refrains from being in sync with the brain’s script because it fears it will contradict the special perception it has made of being spiritual, for example. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The basic self does not need to make a perception that seems to alter or transform the brain’s script into something better made by the basic self. Unlike the special self, it has no need to create, modify or change anything. Although it may feel scared when the script brings it down, it also feels joy because it perceives its reaction to going down as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals there is no fear without joy and vice versa. They need each to be defined by their constant interacting.

Going with the interaction, the basic self gets the thrill of the duality flow. On the other hand, the special self does not get it because it insists on keeping the elements of a duality pair separated. Thus it only feels frightened when going down but in a speculative way that never seems to end. Especially because the special self has no way to get up again, as it has separated up and down into distinctive elements.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The goal of Alexius’ Duality Hacks is not to prolong life. It is impossible. Life has no end. Therefore, the purpose is to undo the belief that you are someone with a beginning and end. Fortunately, believing to be limited is such a weird idea that you can enjoy it while having the belief undone.

Since this belief is based on the experiences produced by the brain, it is not by fighting the brain but by supporting it that you feel good. You back the brain and its experiences by perceiving your reaction to them as ‘it is what it is.’ That syncs you to the brain’s script of duality. Therefore, since your response to everything is two-fold, you will never be only sad or happy but, in the interaction of those opposing feelings, thus feel complete.

Read more about the perception ‘it is what it is’ in ‘I know what it is’ vs ‘it is what it is’ vs ‘dunno what it is’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Whether somebody wants to be transformed, live in the moment, get a new car, spouse or whatnot, they want to feel entertained. That you can always count on the brain to deliver as dreamy, physical or spiritual experiences. All you need is to perceive your reaction to the experiences as ‘it is what it is’ and not as ‘I know what it is.’

Actually, the brain automatically makes the perception ‘it is what it is,’ if you do not oppose it by making the perception ‘I know what it is.’ In the latter case, you will not feel entertained by the experiences created by the brain because you believe in knowing better. But instead of acknowledging that you are mistaken, you probably try to change the brain’s system of duality via meditation or something else that seems to prove you know what is best.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

For the special self, a relationship is not about sharing but expanding its image imperialistically by invading somebody else. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

For the special self, happiness comes from having the best, whereas it comes from having a perception in sync with the brain’s script for the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is not what happens but what you make out of it that makes you feel sad. In other words, suffering is your choice.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self is bound to get angry because it perceives itself as in charge but hardly ever gets what it sets out to obtain. And if it does, it gets restless because it always wants more. On the other hand, the basic self never looks for more. Why should it? It is in sync with the brain’s script, so no matter how much it has, thus feeling happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self perceives everything that happens to be in the best interest of the whole because the brain’s script includes everybody. But the special self perceives everything as a means to get more for itself at the expense of others. Thus it does not get the satisfaction of feeling connected with the whole but the dissatisfaction of being alone.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self assumes happiness comes from being in control. Therefore, if something does not happen as planned, it upholds the idea of being in control by thinking it changed its mind.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the basic self is not exclusive, thus inclusive, and since everything in a world of duality comes in pairs, the inclusion of happiness contains sadness and vice versa. However, the special self is not inclusive but exclusive, so it does not experience the twofoldness of happiness and sadness. Besides, it is not in touch with its feelings because they have been replaced with mental explanations.

If the intensity of a feeling manages to surpass that, the special self is devastated because it comes with its counterpart. Thus it cannot define itself as happy by projecting sadness on others. Instead, it is both happy and sad. But only for a moment. Then the notion of their interaction sets in, which is seen as a disaster because it wipes out the pride of being special.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The world of the basic self is not without sadness, but as that and happiness are like two sides of the same coin, you cannot be sad without being happy. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Happiness is a mechanical product of the brain, which needs to be counteracted with sadness for you to know whether you are happy or not. That is the way of duality, and ultimately speaking, there is no solution to this constant interaction of opposites other than having the belief in duality undone. That, however, does not result in something because in non-duality, there is no more than that which is One, and it takes more than one to get a result.

For the same reason, there is nobody in non-duality, nor anywhere else because non-duality is formless, thus endless. Consequently, being someone who experiences a world of duality is a fantasy. Should you want to go on fantasising about it but not be burdened by it, you stay true to the pairs of duality. In other words, if you do not divide them into distinct feelings but enjoy their interaction, you feel integrated with duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is impossible to forget something because the brain is in charge and always makes sure you act as planned. But it is possible to think you forget something, thus establishing yourself as independent of the brain. In other words, when you are in sync with the brain, you do not feel guilty or proud of getting something. Instead, you feel happy regardless of the outcome.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Should the thoughts from the brain seem to upset you, it is not because of them but the way you perceive them.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Satisfaction comes from having a perception in sync with the brain’s script of duality. But the special self does not like duality because it wants to be specific. Since that makes it feel alone, it spends much time adjusting its perception of itself, but on its terms, so that it remains feeling separated and abandoned.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the special self always feels something is missing in the present moment, it plans to find it in the next.

The basic self does not get afterwards, nor before. Not because it lives in the now. It does not get that either. All it gets is the flow of thoughts that come from the brain. Since it always results in happiness, it never feels like anything is missing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Your extraordinary ideas block you from feeling good because that does not require anything but being in sync with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain. After all, making you feel good is their purpose. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The sole purpose of the thoughts streaming from the brain to the basic self is to make it feel entertained. And as the stream is full of natural pauses, the basic self enjoys the experiences it brings about in a laid-back way. But the special self feels frightened by the breaks. So it imagines they are full of pure love. However, since the special self never finds this love, it concludes it has been hidden.

This conclusion is out of sync with the brain’s script, which is all about exposing something to entertain you, so you forget it is a fake. But nevertheless, to make it appear as if there is something hidden, the special self engages in dialogues about this ‘mystery.’ Read more about that here.

None of these conversations, which often are internal and start with what if …, solves the sense of something hidden, nor do actual discussions with somebody because nothing lives up to the special self’s expectation. It is as unrealistic as believing it can arrange its life in its way when it does not even know who it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being in sync with the stream of thoughts as it comes from the brain, the exchange of happiness and sadness is like going up and down a rollercoaster. Hence feeling sad confirms feeling happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You are not necessarily out of sync with the brain’s script having grievances. However, if you justify them with selected script fragments, you do not perceive your grievance as ‘it is what it is’ but as something that emphasises you as special. Hence you do not get the satisfaction of being in sync with the script. The same applies to the justification of any other feeling.

In other words, if you feel love and justify it with your spouse, love seems to have a specific shape, so instead of feeling free in the ever-changing flow of the brain’s script, you feel imprisoned by your justification.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you binge-watch your favourite TV show, you end up so blown out that there are no perceptions left but those in sync with the show’s script – just like when the basic self happily participates in each episode of the adventure produced by the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self wants to outdo everyone perceived to be better than itself, so it can take what it perceives to be its rightful seat as the master of the universe. On the other hand, the basic self perceives itself as ‘it is what it is,’ thus feeling good enough. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Do not expect the basic self to have a merry-go-round life in that all events are pleasant. If they were, you could not see that happiness does not come from a special set-up but from having a perception in sync with the brain’s script.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self is always worried about the future, whereas the basic self lives in joyful ignorance of time.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is much cheaper to be the basic self than the revised and more special version because the basic self does not have to buy something extraordinary to feel special.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

No matter if the self is perceived to be basic or special, it is a construction of thoughts compiled by the brain in such a way that the nothingness of the self seems to be something when it reacts to another fabrication of nothing in the world that appears to be outside of it. But It is like when you have an orgasm in a dream and conclude it must have been caused by the dream, although it is empty.

That is not to say the experience of nothing as something should be avoided. On the contrary, that would confirm that nothing can be twisted into something. But if your reaction to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ your response is not definitive. Therefore, since it does not confirm something has caused it, you can enjoy seeing nothing as something like you do when dreaming.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The brain renders a world in which there appears to be somebody who can vouch for its authenticity. In return, the world seems to attest to the existence of the one making this confirmation. But It is all fiction, and so is the story about the brain making it because there is no more than that which is One, and it takes more than one to make or experience something. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Like anything else that can be experienced, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings are an illusion. However, they do not try to hide that but expose the fallacy of everything experienced, so what you believe to experience does not appear to hide what cannot be experienced, namely the formlessness of oneness.

How long time this takes does not matter. Time is an illusion. Still, the more the illusionary process of undoing the belief in more than one progresses, the less there seems to hide you are nothing disguised as something. Hence you can relax and have fun believing in seeing something while the belief gets undone.

To be in sync with the natural flow of thoughts

Updated September 29, 2022

Like a self-driving car needs instructions from The Cloud about where to go, a human entirely relies on the brain. Not only does every impulse come from there, but all experiences are fabricated there, regardless they seem yours or others, physical or spiritual. So unless you perceive yourself to be independent of the brain, you are automatically connected with everything in the world you experience, thus feeling happy. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Duality Hacks in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you benefit from reading hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

THE BASIC SELF IS SYNCED WITH THE BRAIN:
The thoughts the basic self receives from the brain are tailored to its specific personality. And since Alexius has a storeroom manager personality coloured with an academic brush (read more about that here), a shopping list, for example, is naturally compiled when thoughts about his food supply pop up.

There is nothing magic about following the GPS instructions when driving a car, nor about following the instructions of the brain when moving in your body. It is as easy as pie when your perception is in sync with the thoughts coming from the brain.

Fantasies of different flavours turn up when he is scripted to have ice cream. Read more about that here. But if it is deemed inappropriate per specific health ideas, he may feel guilty about choosing one. On the other hand, he feels delighted when he is synced with the script’s passion for ice cream and not with a mental fitness concept.

When Alexius lost his business, wife and house, he moved to a tiny room with a girlfriend. But soon, he lost her too. However, since the subsequent sadness was perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ he did not say no but yes to how the brain’s script worked out for him. Thus he felt connected with the shots of happiness continually coming from the brain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Long before Alexius started writing the duality hacks, he seemed scripted to go bankrupt with four businesses he kept running for many years. And so he did without perceiving it as unjust but as ‘it is what it is.’ Since his perception was in sync with the brain’s script, going down felt as entertaining as going up – like on a rollercoaster (read more about that here).

But had he tried to be detached from going down, he would have been out of sync with the brain’s script. It is made for one thing only, amusement, which you get regardless of what and where you appear to be when your response to the script is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ This perception is not singular but twofold. Thus it is in sync with the brain’s story of duality.

Believing to be somebody, you can either be the basic or special self. When the brain’s script is perceived as it is, you are the basic self. But if the perception rest on how the script could be, you appear to know better, thus being a special self.

Being in sync with the script is not a matter of siding with it but accepting that whether you go right or left, for example, the script goes on as planned by the brain – just like an aeroplane on its way to Spain continues as scheduled regardless of changing your seat.

In short, when you perceive your reaction to the script as ‘it is what it is,’ you are in sync with the brain’s fantasy of duality. Therefore, since all your single-minded feelings are revealed as twofold, you are in sync with the brain’s script of twofoldness, thus in the duality flow, which feels fulfilling. See hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

But suppose the consciousness that the brain has built into the self goes rogue and insists on having specific feelings, such as only being happy. In that case, the special self tries to manifest that by making a perception of the script based on socialism, liberalism, communism, humanism or another ism that separates happiness and sadness. However, since this perception is out of sync with the script, no matter how beautiful a picture your ism paints of the world, it does not make you happy because, without sadness, you cannot feel genuinely happy. What you believe in feeling is thought up.

It requires no effort for the basic self to be happy, whereas it takes much work for the special self to get just a taste of it. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Some meet in groups with like-minded ones to establish conceptualised feelings as real. That can be a small group worshipping someone who promises happiness without sadness or sunshine without rain when you follow specific ideas. And it can also be a big group, such as a country, where you feel together by following the national concepts.

But since every group is based on excluding the wrong ones, those members who forget to exclude per the group’s agreed concepts are seen as traitors. Hence they are banned from the group until they revert to its concepts and exclude everything that defies the group. Some may choose to start a new group instead.

Although the basic self has no need to follow a specific concept, it may have to show off as having a conceptualised life to get along with others. But since it happily serves the brain, thus not definitive but relative, it can easily pretend to be what others expect. Read more about that here. But internally, it is free to follow the duality flow instead of hanging onto specific opinions and feelings. Hence it is closer than the special self to the perception’ dunno what it is,’ thus the bliss of nothing. However, that does not mean it is not Enlightened. On the contrary, no kind of self-awareness survives the Enlightenment of that which is One (read more about that here).

Your perception is in sync with the brain’s script when you do not feel something specific.

YOU CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THE BRAIN’S EXPERIENCES ARE REAL #1:
A perception in sync with the brain’s script is not comparable to steering clear of the rain when in sync with the weather forecast. Because if you are set up to get wet, this is how it plays out regardless of being in sync with the brain’s script.

Therefore, if you are scripted to jog every second day, you cannot run every day no matter how hard you push yourself – just like a movie goes forward as scripted regardless of how much you want something specific to happen. However, being in sync with the brain’s script does not mean you have to stop wishing it was different, but that you perceive your reaction to the discrepancy as ‘it is what it is.’ When you do that, everything feels good enough as it is.

If you perceive the stream of thoughts coming from the brain as something different from you, it does not result in happiness. Hence you have to find joy where it is not, namely in the right kind of coffee, religion and whatnot. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

YOU CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THE BRAIN’S EXPERIENCES ARE REAL #2:
Pinching yourself in the arm, the brain registers a physical feeling. Hence you conclude you are alive. But since the brain creates the experience of a physical sensation, this conclusion does not prove you exist as someone substantial in a tangible world outside the brain – just like you are not in the dreams composed by the brain, even though it feels like it.

When the brain claims it creates your experiences based on info from your sensory system, it is a lie. For example, it can create images of the world when your eyes are closed, feelings from an amputated arm as if it is still there, and visions of the world spinning around you (vertigo), although nothing like that is happening. You only choose to believe the brain’s experiences are real because otherwise, you are exposed as its fantasy.

SINGULAR VERSUS TWOFOLD PERCEPTION:
To be in sync with the brain’s script does not mean you live in the now because the brain has used one second to manufacture the experience you believe in having right now. Hence you have to go back one second to be in the now. However, one second ago, nothing happened because the brain fabricates all experiences from nothing. But you choose to believe it renders them from something it receives from the sensory system because otherwise, you are exposed to a fantasy of the brain.

Practically speaking, the music you hear via AirPlay, for example, travels in the air for more than a second to reach your speaker. Therefore, to meet the origin, you must go back in time. But going back to the digital media from where the music comes from, there is nothing but ones and zeros. And they make no sounds before an app created by a specific combination of ones and zeros translates them into something your speaker can reproduce as vibrations perceived as music. It is purely mechanical. There is no soul or anything mystical involved – likewise, the experience of being someone substantial in a tangible world.

Nevertheless, this experience is amusing when your reaction to it is twofold. On the other hand, if your response is singular, you are not participating in the brain’s story of duality but in how you think it should be according to a specific philosophy. And since this does not change anything in the brain’s fantasy – like your perception of a movie does not change it – you feel frustrated.

Being in sync with the brain’s script feels like using the right tools for an assignment.

Fear does not prevent you from going on when in sync with the unedited flow of thoughts. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE BRAIN MAKES YOU FEEL CONNECTED:
Feeling stressed by the stream of thoughts streaming from the brain and trying to slow it down by meditating does not solve the problem. The flow of thoughts only seems speedy and confusing when you perceive yourself as independent of it. Hence the solution to your discomfort is not to stop or change the stream of thoughts but to change your perception so that you do not seem to control the flow but are managed by it. That is achieved by perceiving your reaction to the stream of thoughts as ‘it is what it is.’

The brain can be compared to Spotify in the sense that it has many playlists to choose from. But no matter which playlist you decide to stream, it will not bring happiness unless you are in sync with it.

The happiness that comes from being in sync with the brain can be compared to the joy you feel when singing along with a song you like. And not being in sync can be compared to feeling disturbed by the same music because you want to concentrate on something you perceive as better.

In oneness, no one is at one because that calls for more than one.

That said, to be in sync with the brain’s script may seem frightening, but as you do not feel alone when in sync, fear does not prevent you from going on.

There is nothing spontaneous about the basic self – like a violinist is in sync with the notes of the classical composition it plays, the basic self is in sync with the brain’s script. Neither the violinist nor the self has room for improvisation or any regret because everything is already set.

Should you wonder if you are in sync with the brain’s libretto, you are out of sync because you have no doubts when in sync.

Regardless your perception is in sync with the brain’s script or not, you cannot plan for something to happen that is not scripted. Fortunately, there is no urge to plan anything when your perception is in sync with the script. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

BEING IN SYNC WITH THE BRAIN’S SCRIPT OR NOT
If you perceive the sun to go up and down, your perception is out of sync with the brain’s script because the sun does not go up and down. Instead, what and where you believe in being goes up and down.

If your perception is in sync you moving with the speed of the Earth, you feel calm inside while racing outside.

However, feeling the pulsation of the moment, there is no time to make up a perception where you seem to be significant, nor is there any need to do so because the body shivers with ecstasy as if shaken by an earthquake of tenderness.

In the case of Alexius, he sometimes feels this is like listening to the Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnyk playing extremely rapid, intricate patterns of notes, producing overtones so trance-inducing that a cascade sound of purity makes you forget, it is ignited by the speed and complexity underneath it. Read more about that here.

But the special self fears speed because it needs time to control its appearance. Hence it meditates or something else to slow things down to get time to consume static stuff like books, which it imagines will make it more real.

Fortunately, there is no right way to perceive the complexity of a moment. But as long as the perception relates to it and not to an edited and simplified version, every perception will make you feel good. So good, indeed, that the inherent speed may bring about glimpses of Enlightenment (read about glimpses of Enlightenment here).

NOTES ABOUT NOTHING

  • No matter how you experience the appearances on a computer screen and where you believe the experience comes from, what you experience is not there. Every part of it is a computer-generated simulation, and it only seems real if you want to perceive it like that.
  • Just like a dream is a construction of nothing that never leaves the dreamer, although it seems to happen in a world outside of it, the self and the world that appears to be outside of it is a construction of nothing that never leaves the brain, regardless of what and where the self believes to be.

CANCELLEX To be is to be entertained

Happiness cannot be found. It comes effortlessly when in sync with duality

Updated September 29, 2022

What you believe to be can be compared to a smartphone. Although it can do thousands of things, it depends entirely on its operator – just like you do on the brain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The special self does not relate to the present experience produced by the brain but how it envision it. Thus it feels disconnected.

You are in the brain’s domain when experiencing something because it produces all experiences. Therefore, since the brain loves you, the thoughts it makes do not trouble but soothe you when synced with the brain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

TO FOLLOW THE BRAIN’S SCRIPT:
Whether you like the brain’s script, you are bound to follow it by the letter. However, you are free to perceive it as you fancy. But if you want to feel connected, your perception must relate to the script as it is and not as you reckon it should be. The latter makes you feel disconnected since you are out of sync with the brain’s script.

Despite being in sync or not, the brain gets what it wants, namely that even though you are nothing, you believe to be something, wherefore the brain seems to exist. Hence it rewards you with shots of happiness. Unfortunately, you do not notice it if you want everything to be in your way and time because then you are out of sync with the brain.

But maintaining a perception of being in control is frustrating. For example, suppose you strictly follow a diet instead of listening to the body’s signals. In that case, since the natural sense of being hungry is judged unnatural, you twist your craving for food into something aligned with your diet’s philosophy. But not being in sync with the present, you do not feel genuinely amused. Instead, you get mental satisfaction based on the diet’s promises of a better life.

The same happens if you avoid a natural and effortless perception of a movie you watch but twist it into something per your ideas of spirituality, for example. Hence you miss the entertainment the movie’s script was made to give you.

So why does almost nobody want to be entertained by the brain’s script? Mainly because they think they know better despite not knowing who they are. But fortunately, their mistake is their saviour.

When you do not repress or edit your reaction to being wrong but feel it undiminished, you can perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals your single-minded response is twofold. For example, since sadness is coupled with happiness, it is replaced with that. For less than a minute, happiness is all you feel. Then, sadness return. And going back and forth between feeling sad and happy, you become happy/sad. But not for long. Being in this teamwork of opposites, you stop feeling them specifically and start sensing their interaction: the duality flow.

Therefore, since you are in sync with the brain’s script of twofoldness, you feel at home. Read more about the perception it is what it is’ in ‘I know what it is’ vs ‘it is what it is’ vs ‘dunno what it is’ and the duality flow in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

Watching TV series, you do not have to do anything to be engaged in the action other than perceiving it by its plot. It is so entertained that you forget yourself. However, daily life is just as astonishing, when you accept to follow the brain’s script and perceive it as ‘it is what it is’ and not as it should be.

The brain’s script is neither logical, rational, or consistent. But when your perception remains in sync with it, you eventually feel as blow-out as after binge-watching a TV show, thus feeling free. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

TO BE BLOWN OUT BY THE BRAIN:
Being in sync with the natural flow of thoughts from the brain can be compared to being in sync with the plot of a movie. It is easy because the film is full of hints about how to perceive it.

The director has added emotional music to manipulate you into correctly interpreting the movie. For example, since black – at least in the Western world – is associated with evil, the director expects you to interpret scenes with fast black cars, so you are in sync with the plot and therefore feel entertained. But suppose you doubt this meaning and try to construct a better one based on concepts unrelated to the film. In that case, you break up the story, wherefore you do not feel entertained but bored by the movie.

In other words, nothing feels entertaining if you think you know better than the director and keep imagining how the movie could have been if it was edited per socialism or another ism believed in making the world better. In that case, you only feel entertained by the specific parts of the movie perceived as aligned with your ism.

On the other hand, when you do not question the movie’s storyline but jump into the adventure as it is, you feel linked with the whole film – likewise, accepting the brain’s story of duality, thus being in sync, you feel connected.

In roleplay, you can become anyone you like. However, everyone is predefined by the gamemaster, so you act according to that. Likewise, in the game of duality. You are never your own but the brain’s, because it is the gamemaster.

Since one feels lonely when believing to have parted with the brain’s script, the special self always tries to convince itself it is part of something bigger. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

TO BE ENTERTAINED OR NOT:
The brain is the sole director of a dream – also the experiences you when you believe to be awake. You have no say in that except how to perceive the experiences, thus how you want to feel about them.

If your perception of an experience results in feeling entertained, it is in sync with the brain. But if it results in feeling unjust, the perception is out of sync because the brain is impersonal – just like The Cloud governing a self-driving car never treats it personal but looks at the whole.

Not perceiving an experience as personal, thoughts and feelings regarding it are momentary. Thus to experience sorrow is just as entertaining as joy. That is how it is to be the basic self. But when an experience is perceived as personal, thoughts and feelings regarding it becomes sticky. So if not externally, then internally, the experience seems to drag on, wherefore you feel so depressed that you meditate or do something else to disassociate yourself from feeling wrong. That is how unpleasant it is to be a special self.

Being wrong is just as entertaining as being right when in sync with the brain’s script. Actually, right versus wrong is one of the many opposites that make up the script of duality.

No matter what way you go and why you reckon to do that, the reason is that the brain has told you to do it. Therefore, having a perception in sync with the brain’s playbook, obstacles along the way adds to the entertainment. But having made a perception where you are in charge, thus out of sync with the brain, the same obstacles add to the stress of having to know the way. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

TO IGNORE THE BRAIN’S SCRIPT:
Should you want to take a break from the brain’s script of duality, all you need is to not be in sync with it. But not like the special self who revolts against it and therefore depends upon it. To be free of the script, you ignore it by not making a statement like the special self who says ‘I know what it is,’ nor like the basic self who declares ‘it is what it is’ but you gently say ‘dunno what it is.’ This perception does not ratify the brain’s experiences of you as someone in a world of duality.

Hence you are in a state of not-knowing from where you can welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One. It automatically wipes out the experience of ever having been someone because it requires more than one to be someone. Read about the Enlightenment of that which is One in hack #6.1 From the inward-facing senses through a black hole into that which is One.

But suppose you are not ready to undo the belief in being and having more than that which is One. In that case, you will return to the consciousness of being someone with the slate wiped clean. Thus you happily go on as the basic self until you feel so joyous that you cannot ask for more, wherefore you do not need to believe it is possible to be and have more than that which is One. Read more about that in The after-effect of a state of not-knowing.

NOTE: The above article is part of hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy.

4.2 Control is the fear of not being good enough

Updated September 26, 2022

The brain makes all the experiences believed to be yours or others and stores the ones you consider to constitute what you and others are. Hence the appearance of you and the world as substantial is the brain and vice versa. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

YOU SHOULD ENJOY ALL THOUGHTS BECAUSE THEY ARE AS SWEET AS YOU
Even though the brain deceives you by making experiences that seem to establish you as someone substantial in a tangible world, it is not your enemy. On the contrary, the brain wants to make you happy. If that is not how you feel, you have most likely disassociated yourself from the brain’s experiences. Instead of perceiving them as they are, you perceive them as they should be per a specific philosophy that you fancy.

But since everything in this perception revolves around you knowing better than the brain, and since you do not know who you are, it is hard work to make it look like you, not the brain, knows the best. Thus you meditate or force your body into strange positions to cut off the brain, assuming that will free you from its perceived tyranny and make you realise who you are.

The brain renders a self in which it installs a consciousness so the self can perceive itself as someone in a tangible world outside itself via the experiences fabricated by the brain. Consequently, the brain is what and where you experience in being.

However, excluding the brain does not result in feeling whole but disconnected. On the other hand, if you include all thoughts, they do not seem to cause loss or abundance but completion because the thoughts from the brain constitute what and where you are made to be.

Trying to change that is like changing the colour of your hair. Though the new tone makes you look different, the original one remains underneath it. Still, more or less everybody believes that changing their look will make them different.

Control is the fear of not being good enough to be affirmed as someone in a world of something. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

CONTROL IS THE FEAR OF NOT BEING GOOD ENOUGH
The wish to change ourselves often starts in early childhood. We realised that if we changed our appearance into something considered more lovable by our parents, we would get their attention, thus feeling loved. Read more about that here. Consequently, most concluded they could manipulate others into liking them by controlling themselves.

Several events can have led to this conclusion. Maybe your parents forced you to use the toilet before you were ready. To please them and be the child they wanted, you controlled your urination by tightening the muscles in the loin. However, the price of getting their ‘love’ was a damaged body. The premature constriction of the muscles blocked the natural flow in the biological system. Thus the communication between the body and the brain was disrupted.

Therefore, since the body was left on its own, it tried to fix the blockage in the loin by balancing it with a new issue in the shoulder, neck or jaw. Maybe all of them, or at least the jaw, because when it is reinforced in a forward position, it is easy to maintain the expression you imagine others want to see, thus living a conceptualised life.

But the body may have chosen to counteract the blockage in the loin with one in the feet so that many years after, they feel cold. Or it could have balanced the problem with stiffness in the hands, showing up much later as something you assume caused by using a computer.

And though you can diminish the new problems in the body via massage and acupuncture, for example, the relaxation will not last because the hardened loin needs the rigidity in the lower body to be balanced out with other problems.

Hence you will never feel the healing that the natural flow that a biological system adequately hooked up with the brain brings about. Instead, you feel held back by something you cannot find because you try to find it in the body and not in what has caused the blockage, namely the perception of yourself as inferior. In other words, if you do not manipulate others into loving you by controlling your body, the natural flow of the biological system is not disrupted by your meddling. Thus the brain can maintain a sound body.

You try to restrict your only friend, namely the brain, by dividing its duality pairs into separate distinctive elements, for example, good and evil, so you can suppress evil by meditating or projecting it onto others to appear only good, thus beyond the brain’s script of twofoldness. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

IN THE DUALITY FLOW, YOU ARE FREE FROM BEING SOMEONE DEFINITIVE
A straightforward way to correct how you respond to yourself is to perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals it is twofold. So if your single-minded response was that you are wrong, you see it is interacting with being right. Therefore, since you are in the duality flow, you are not defined as someone specific, nor are those you felt you had to please. Hence they, as well as you, are seen as good enough.

Eventually, the duality flow will undo the belief in being someone. Thus there is nobody to misinterpret anything. However, this hack is about having a good time as someone while having the belief in being that undone. So we go on with the brain’s script. Read more about the duality flow in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

Not suppressing something, you are in sync with the brain because it loves you as you are. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE BRAIN’S SCRIPT IS FIXED, SO YOU CANNOT DAMAGE THE BODY
Since the brain’s script is as fixed as the earth’s motion around the sun, the same physical tensions in the loin would have occurred, whether or not you tried to adjust to your parents’ expectations to get their love. However, the pressure would not have turned into a psychosomatic problem if you had perceived yourself as good enough, thus not suppressing something in yourself by projecting it on a weak part of the body. Consequently, the tension in the loin would have been straightforward to deal with as a physical problem. Fortunately, it is never too late to correct your misperception of the past.

The above explanation of cause and effect is not entirely correct. Nothing adds up in a world where there seems to be more than one because there is no more than that which is one since it is formless, thus endless. That is what the explanations in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings are meant to illustrate. Hence they only work when used to expose a world where there seems to be more than one is fantasy.

This explanation is also fictional, and so is the idea that somebody is making or getting it – just like nobody, in particular, is making a dream or having it because there is nothing in it. Consequently, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings is not a new philosophy with the answers to the world’s problems or why and how we appear to be there as separated beings. There is no answer to that or anything else because there is no more than that which is one, and it takes more than one to explain something.

Therefore, ultimately speaking, it does not matter if you are in sync with the brain’s script, thus happy, or perceive the script in a way, so you appear more exceptional than scripted, thus looking for happiness you never find because it comes from being in sync with the brain’s script.

Everything is always going your way. If it does not seem so, you are not going your way. That does not mean you are going the wrong way. It is not possible. But it is possible to perceive the way that is out of sync with your nature. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

That is why, in the context of the world where we appear to be, everything seems much more manageable when one’s perception is in sync with the brain’s script. Hardly any thoughts are needed for that, and as they compile themselves from the pool of thoughts the brain has made for this (read more about that here), there are no stray thoughts to disturb you. In contrast, it requires much effort to make a perception where you appear more special than the basic self the brain has created.

You must seek out specific thoughts to look special, and by doing so, they start to scamper around and fight each other, which feels stressful – especially since it affects your interpretation of yourself and the world. Hence the special self concludes that it is best to get rid of some or all thoughts, or at least slow them down via meditation or something else that supports the idea of being in control.

However, this enhances the problem. The special self perceives itself as the master and the brain its servant. And it is the other way around. So if the special self honours the brain for producing the experiences of being someone by perceiving them as they are and not as they should be, happiness comes all by itself. Actually, so much that the few thoughts required for having a perception in sync with the brain are unnoticed. In short, if we do not edit the perception the brain automatically generates of ourselves, we are in sync, thus rewarded with so much happiness that we feel loved and love everybody as ourselves (read more about that here).

APPENDIX:
Many try to solve the feeling of not being good enough by finding somebody who admires them. Others may clean the house, go shopping, eat, smoke, have sex, or whatever makes them forget they do not feel wanted. However, most try to resolve feeling inferior by making others wrong. But none of those methods works because feeling unwanted comes from how you think the world should respond to you and not how it does that.

The root of this misperception can be found by walking down memory lane. But it probably takes a long time, and you may miss it. Fortunately, the misperception can be corrected immediately by perceiving feeling inferior as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that takes the distinctness out of the feeling, it does not have a specific effect on you. Therefore, the next time you, by reflex, create an attitude to disguise you feel inferior, you laugh because ‘it is what it is.’

Notes on meditation, the basic and special self

Updated September 20, 2022

Everything in a world of duality comes in pairs, where the opposing elements define each other. For example, small is defined by tall and vice versa. So if you hate big things and abandon them, you also exclude small ones. Since small things cannot be defined, they become a blurry concept. Likewise, if you perceive yourself to be free from hatred, the love you believe to experience is fake. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The brain’s function is to create entertaining experiences for the self that it has fabricated. Therefore, if they do not seem to please but frustrate the self, its consciousness most likely perceives them, so they comply with a conceptualised way of living, such as capitalism, socialism, spiritualism, or another ism meant to make the self feel more special.

But since this perception is founded on a particular belief system, it is restricted by its concepts. And since self-discipline does not make you delighted but angry, you do not get the peace the belief system promised. Primarily because the thoughts you have compiled into perception aligned with your preferred belief system do not like being manipulated. Hence, they move faster and faster to escape your domination.

No worries, if you do not try to stop this restless energy, it automatically ignites a take-off into the empty breath, where the slate is wiped clean. Read more about that in hack #5.2 The empty breath and the bliss of nothing. Therefore, since you only have perceptions in sync with the experiences the brain produces, you feel entertained by all of them. Fortunately, you do not have to uphold these perceptions yourself. The brain does it automatically if you do not interfere. Read more about that in hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the basic self is relative to the experiences created by the brain (read more about that here), it is not definitive. Hence the inexact flow of thoughts coming from the brain seems natural. But not to the special self because it wants to be definitive.

To distance itself from the brain, the special self composes a perception in which the basic have been transformed into someone definitive independent of the brain. However, this twisted perception calls for more thoughts than those few the brain has available to make a perception aligned with the basic self. Thus, the special self meditates to generate more thoughts.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self needs alcohol, drugs or meditation to escape the fear of repercussion that manipulating others entails. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Those who perceive themselves as unique beings with the power to do things in their way and pace need many thoughts to uphold their crooked perception. However, the movement of so many thoughts soon becomes so hectic that they try to slow them down via meditation.

That is the official reason. But as anybody who has meditated knows, thoughts multiply when trying to control them. And that is the real reason for meditating because many thoughts are needed to construct a unique spiritual appearance.

 ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self does not feel disturbed by the flow of thoughts from the brain. On the contrary, it loves this quiet flow because it makes it easy to serve the brain in a laid-back way. However, the special self does not want to serve but to master the brain. Thus it feels disturbed by its thoughts, although, if not interfering, there are only a few.

The frantic flow of thoughts, the special self experiences, has been generated by itself. It has multiplied the simple flow the brain develops to maintain a basic itself into a large group of thoughts from which it can compose a perception of itself as an independent being. Read more about that here. Then, when it needs a break from the multitudes of thoughts, it looks for something numbing like alcohol, drugs or a mantra.

But when it manages to escape the thoughts, it feels horrified because, without all the special thoughts it has generated, the idea of being in control falls apart. Hence there is no self-deception to hide that it depends on the brain. Acknowledging that, it feels embraced by the gentle flow of thoughts from the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Most like to believe they feel upset because of the thoughts coming from the brain. However, the distress comes from the attempt to edit them. When a single thought is sought out from the stream of thoughts, it generates a new stream, and if a specific thought is singled out from that, yet another stream is made, and so on – just like if you split a neutron from an atom nucleus, it sends out more neutrons all by itself, that split and sends out more neutrons. It is a chain reaction.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self feels dominated by the natural flow of thoughts coming from the brain. But it is dominated by nothing other than its perception of the flow of thoughts. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The special self likes to believe that visualising something will make it happen because that seems to confirm it is in control. But if that were true, everybody would win the lottery.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To think you are in control is like believing you control the TV with the remote. Somebody else has made what you see, and the only thing you can change is your perception of it. That is also how the basic self has been transformed into a special self, namely by perceiving the basic self so that it seems to be an independent being in charge of its own life.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self needs constant approval from others to feel alive. To get that, it often establishes a family, which it can manipulate into giving it the confirmation it needs. If that does not work as intended, the special self may pay a psychologist to ratify its uniqueness. But it does not realise how dependent it is on those supporting its perception of being independent.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the brain scripts you to feel sexual lust, you will feel horny no matter what you believe in being. However, you will not enjoy it if you try to suppress your sex drive through meditation or tantra sex. Read more about sex here.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you perceive yourself as detached from the experiences of the brain, you fool yourself because you need them to prove this.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you try to solve absent-mindedness through mindfulness meditation or grounding exercises, you make it worse because you do not know who you are. Only your maker knows that. And since it is the brain, the solution, in the context of believing to be someone, is to be aligned with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain instead of using meditation to distance yourself from it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Having established itself as someone in charge, the special self needs to meditate or something else that seems to make it able to control thoughts to fool itself into believing that thoughts are not produced by the brain but by itself. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Mindfulness is for those who cannot help exploiting others – just like in ancient times, monks introduced meditation to the barbarians seeking shelter in Ashrams to teach them to control themselves, thus refraining from abusing others.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self has no need to relax or transform itself through meditation, yoga, fitness and whatnot. On the contrary, as its perception is in sync with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain, it is like a stream of happiness. Therefore, since it regularly forgets to remember being someone, it knows there is nothing to transform.

On the other hand, the special self never forgets to remember being somebody. It is always on a mission to become more and be part of something greater. But since that never turns out as expected, it settles for following someone that seems to improve its social status.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you need to relax, you are trying to be someone definitive. Because to achieve that, you have excluded the thoughts you find upsetting from the stream of thoughts coming from the brain. Since that does not result in peace but fear of the repressed, you look for something that makes you relax. However, not trying to edit the ever-changing flow of thoughts but perceiving it as ‘it is what it is,’ you are not someone definitive but relative to the present experience produced by the brain. Therefore, since hating what you dislike feels just as exciting as loving what you like, there is no need to relax.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self always looks for something to fix. But it rejects the solution that would fix everything immediately, namely not perceiving the brain as an enemy but as a friend (read more about that here). By doing that, everybody becomes a friend because the brain produces the experience of others.

Ultimately, the solution is to undo the belief in being someone who experiences something. As this is the end of being someone, the special self avoids it by meditating or something else that seems to confirm it exists.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The many doctrines of the world easily manipulate those who believe they have free will to become spiritual, socialistic, capitalistic or something else they think will make them independent of the brain.

However, you cannot avoid the brain’s commands – just like a car is in the hands of the driver, you are in the hands of the brain.

So even though the special self perceives the ride per the particular doctrine, it follows nothing changes other than how the special self sees it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There is no moment without the past and the future. For example, you must deal with both to keep the balance on a wheel like in this photo. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

If you perceive the brain’s basic rendering of you in a capsule of time and space as a bit boring, the special self sets in by offering you more exotic ways of perceiving it, for example, by coming from the heart (read more about that here), or living in the now.

But since all experiences – no matter where you believe they come from or how they seem to be experienced – are constructions of thoughts fabricated by the brain (read more about that here), these special perceptions are nothing but a reconstruction of the thoughts made by the brain.

However, they do not work because they are exclusive and not inclusive. Any experience the brain creates consists of all thoughts popping up at that moment, including about the past and the future. When in sync with the whole bunch, every moment feels perfect.

But this is not how it feels if you eliminate some of those thoughts to adjust to concepts like coming from the heart or living in the now. That makes you feel imperfect.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Like the night excludes the day and vice versa, spirituality excludes consciousness and vice versa.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It feels like you are someone in a computer game just because it seems to make you feel something. But this feeling is based on your interpretation of computer-generated events. Therefore, what you feel is made by you. The same applies to what you feel in the world where you believe to read this. It is founded on your interpretation of the experiences produced by the brain. Consequently, it is you who choose what to feel.

It is also you who interpret experiences as there is a god, higher consciousness, or whatnot. But there are no experiences. That requires more than one, and there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you meditate to exclude something, you establish it as real, otherwise, there is no reason to get rid of it. But anything you are aware of is unreal because it takes more than one to be aware of something, and there is no more than that which is one. Fortunately, you eventually forget what and where you appear to be when applying one or more of Alexius’ Duality Hacks, except for the Enlightenment of that which is One, where it occurs immediately. Hence, there is nobody to be conscious of something.

NOTES:

The basic self is relative to the brain, thus without egoistic intentions

Updated September 22, 2022

What you believe in being does not control the events in a dream where you appear to be, nor are you in it. You are in your bed. Likewise, you are not in a world where there seems to be more than one. Nor are you anywhere else because it takes more than one to be somewhere, and there is nothing but oneness since it is formless, thus endless. Nevertheless, while you believe in being someone in a fantasy world trying to control, it feels frustrating, whereas going with its flow feels good. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

What and where you appear to be in a computer game is designed by the game’s creator. You cannot change that, but you can perceive it in sync with the plot or not. The latter is frustrating and the former entertaining. The same applies to the tangible world, where you appear to be someone substantial. What and where you seem to be is a fiction made by the brain, and it cannot be changed – only your interpretation of it.

If that is in sync with the brain’s script, you feel entertained by the idea of being someone substantial in a tangible world. It is a bit like going up and down on a rollercoaster. You scream of fear when going down and shout of joy when going up. One leads to the other. It is like two sides of a coin. That is how it is in the brain’s script of duality, where everything comes in pairs.

However, this is not the way the special self sees it. On the contrary, its fundamental instinct is to perceive everything divided into right and wrong. And since going down is deemed wrong, this is not an experience it sees as equally entertaining as going up. Actually, the special self never really enjoys any experience because it is busy figuring out how to feel the next one.

And though that never works out as planned, it insists that everything will get better. But, on the other hand, since the basic self is relative to the brain, every moment is the perfect moment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self enjoys talking about feelings speculatively, »like do I really love this person?«

But it does not love anybody because to uphold its perception of being in control, it avoids feelings of intimacy by being with people who collectively have agreed to focus on the energy of emotions and not their emotional impact.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self is about survival, whereas the basic self is about serving.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When events seem to be going in favour of the special self, it states that it is free of the brain, thus doing everything in its way. But when it fails, the special self blames the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The idea of keeping an open mind excites the special self because it seems to confirm the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Since feelings tend to mess up the perception that the special self has made of itself as an independent and unique being, it wants to keep them at a distance. But as this collides with its need to show off as an open person, it lays the blame for fencing off feelings on its spouse, for example, who it criticises for being closed, thus making it impossible for the special self to express its feelings.

This perceived unapproachability of others is a favourite topic of the special self. And although its feelings are unrecognised, it shows off as an expert on others’ feelings. But what it sees in others is its suppressed feelings (read more about that here).

On the other hand, the basic self rarely feels something specific. It is neither happy nor sad, but happy/sad. Whether it is the interaction of this twofoldness or another, it notices by looking at the world because it is in the eye of the beholder. Or maybe it is the other way around. The basic self could not care less because it is neither inside nor outside.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If one of the special self’s perceptions is exposed as fake, the special self diverts the focus from itself by making up a new perception in which it is unjustly attacked.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self likes to be together with others, but on one condition, namely that others accept its perception of things so that it shapes their relationship.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

By stating »we are all one,« the special self thinks it expresses spirituality. But it is separation that the special self wants to enhance when it says »we are all one« because it is the foundation of this statement.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self expects to be more appreciated when recognised as positive. Thus it always excludes what it judges as unfavourable from its appearance. However, it is not positivity but exclusivity that the special self is adored for because exclusion ratifies separation, thus the belief in being important.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self always tries to escape something, but it does not know what. Neither will it ever know because there is nothing to escape. It is an illusion that only seems real because it always looks for something to exclude so that it can appear unique. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When the brain decides you must have a cake and you fight it for ideological reasons but, eventually, give in, you say it was your choice. In this way, you fool yourself into thinking that you do things in your way.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Having one’s perception in sync with the stream of thoughts from the brain feels like being wholly absorbed by a TV show after binge-watching it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Watching a TV show, the brain is in its right element, continually passing remarks and predicting what comes next. When not doubting or altering these comments but going with them, you are also in your right element as a follower of the brain. However, since the brain contains the sum of your most significant memories, and that is what you believe in being, you are not just a follower but a leader.

But not following the brain, you are neither servant nor master but always look for something special you can follow to make you feel in your right element. Or maybe you imagine a specific school of thought will help you eliminate what you assume prevents you from being in your right element. But no matter what you believe in becoming, it only seems to come true because thoughts, like a binary code of nothing, are put together in a perception of yourself that appears to manifest it.

That is not to say that following the brain is more real. Every experience is make-believe – just like in a role-play. However, following the instructions of the game master is part of the fun. Likewise, believing to be someone in a world defined by time and space is quite entertaining when you do not try to add or subtract something from the instructions you get from the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You can compare the basic self to a cat. It does not plan to do Pilates at a specific hour but, naturally, stretches out when its biological system tells it to do it. Nor does it attend special seminars to learn who it is or how to be transformed into something else. There is no ‘I’ with a need to be anything but a cat.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you do not make up a perception that avoids, corrects or replace the brain’s script, you confirm that the brain supplies you with everything needed. Thus you feel safe. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The dreamer can change nothing in a dream except the perception of it. So though you are not in charge of the events, you decide to interpret something as specifically frightening. By doing that, fear becomes sticky and not just a fleeting feeling like when combined with its counterpart, joy. Likewise, when you insist on being someone definitive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you often feel irritated or confused, you are not in sync with the brain’s script of duality. All feelings come in pairs, and none of them last unless you split a pair into distinct feelings, so you have two independent feelings, irritated and collected, for example, instead of two feelings collaborating to define each other. In other words, if irritation is sticky, you have chosen to separate it from feeling collected.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Within the apparent materialisation of a world defined by time and space, your most defining experiences of being someone are stored in the brain. And as they constitute what you believe in being (read more about that here), you cannot have this belief undone without honouring the brain.

So although the experiences fabricated and stored in the brain are made from nothing, you should not dismiss them as something because they ratify the choice to establish you as someone in a world defined by time and space. If you do not acknowledge your choice, it cannot be undone.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

What you believe in being is based on memories stored in the brain. The experience of something coming from somewhere else is created by it. So there is nothing to serve other than the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Most try to see a specific self behind their different appearances in the world. Yet, there is no other self than the basic one created by the brain. It is without a centre and ever-changing with the fleeting experiences the brain develops. That is why you are bound to feel unfulfilled when you try to define yourself. On the other hand, you always feel fulfilled if momentarily defined by the fleeting experiences produced by the brain. In this flexibility of relativism, any experience generated by the brain amuses you, regardless of what and where you appear.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not enter the stress of being someone definitive when you perceive your response to an experience as ‘it is what it is. Instead, you remain without a centre and focus. Thus you automatically play the role set up by the brain for the present moment. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Within the context of believing to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, you do not have a definitive self but one relative to the fleeting experiences produced by the brain. And since the brain automatically helps you perceive your response to its experiences as ‘it is what it is,’ you are satisfied by all of them. Read more about that perception in hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy.

That is, if you do not override this basic perception with ‘I know what it is.’ In that case, you get frustrated because things do not work out according to your understanding but the brain’s script. Although you can choose between going right or left, for example, the brain decides your decision’s subsequent events – just like in a computer game, where every outcome of your choices is prefixed. Or like a flight to New York continues as planned, regardless of your whereabouts on the plane.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If one’s perception is in sync with the flow of thoughts from the brain, experiences seem relative. Not being in sync with the flow, they appear definitive – the former results in feeling free, and the latter in feeling imprisoned.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self is not a definitive entity. Instead, it is relative to the brain, thus without egoistic drive. The special self is also relative to the brain but not without an egotistic drive because, contrary to the basic self, it perceives the thoughts from the brain as if it is in charge of them and, consequently, itself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being in tune with the present experience created by the brain, the basic self does not perceive itself as definitive but relative to the present. But since the special self believes it handles everything in its way, it perceives itself as superior. It is a wonder, though, how it can go on believing being that when it does not know who it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Within the context of a world where there seems to be more than one, the basic self is everyone and no one. And since the basic self is relative, there is no self to doubt. On the other hand, the special self always doubts itself because it insists on being someone definitive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If the special self perceives somebody as stupid, it is most likely meant as a condemnation. But when the basic self makes the same perception, it is not to blame somebody but to fend off a relationship that the brain instructs you to avoid. In other words, the basic self respects the signals of the brain. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

For the special self, it is always about what others could have done to make it happy. But the basic self never gets disappointed by somebody because they are not the ones making it comfortable. The brain is. It always rewards the basic self with happiness for perceiving its experiences as they are and not as they could be per socialism or another ism. Thus the basic self has no reason to be disappointed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self is an expert in flattery, which it uses to manipulate others into feeling appreciated. It wants them to become so dependent on the compliments that they are willing to submit to the special self to get more.

However, this does not work on the basic self. It does not need to be approved as someone specific because it does not perceive itself as definitive but relative to how the brain renders the present moment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As already said, the self is created by the brain and cannot be changed by you. But that does not mean it is definitive. It is relative to the present experiences created by the brain. »The brain is constantly reconfiguring every second of your life. Even by the time you get to the end of this paragraph, you’ll be a slightly different person than you were at the beginning.« David Eagleman, an American neuroscientist, in The working of the brain resembles drug dealers in Albuquerque.

That is why the more you read Alexius’ Duality Hacks, the more you have applied them.

NOTE: This article is part of hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

Feeling entertained by duality, while hacking it

Updated September 18, 2022

Nobody, in particular, is making the dream you experience to have. And neither you nor anybody else is in it. Likewise, appearing to be someone substantial in a tangible world is a fantasy made by nobody. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The special self is a modified version of the basic self that has been thought up by its rebellious consciousness to escape the perceived tyranny of the brain. However, since the self is a construction of thoughts, it is impossible to depart the brain. Yet, it is possible to make a perception that excludes the thoughts establishing you as governed by the brain, so you seem to be in charge of yourself.

However, being exclusive does not bring fulfilment, so the special self never feels satisfied. On the other hand, the basic self always feels complete because it is inclusive.

You cannot hack something you deny. Thus you must acknowledge duality to hack it.

HAVE FUN GOING WITH THE DUALITY FLOW:
Whether experiences are perceived as spiritual or mundane, they come from the brain. It fabricates them to make the biological system react as if there is a self inside a body experiencing a world of duality outside it, thus being someone there.

The brain counts on the self it has thought up to make this conclusion because otherwise, it is evident that the experiences of being someone in a world of duality are fake. Therefore, since the self wants to survive as someone in a world with like-minded ones, it chooses to perceive the experiences produced by the brain as true.

It is the same as you do when playing a game. It is exciting to follow the rules of the virtual world. Likewise, the brain’s game of duality feels amusing when in sync with it. See hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy.

Regardless of syncing with the brain, everybody has an internal dialogue caused by their response to the game of duality. In the case of the basic self, you have fun with an inner conversation created by the brain. However, you also feel disturbed because everything comes in pairs in a world of duality. When that is accepted, disturbing becomes fun, and it is disturbing. Thus you are revitalised by the duality flow, which is the constant interaction of opposites. Read more about that in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

The special self also has fun internal communication with somebody, but it disassociates itself from feeling disturbed by justifying it with the other. Thus it is not revitalised by the duality flow but fatigued by its singleness. Hence the special self always feels disappointed. But the inner dialogue of both the basic and the special self accomplishes what the brain wants, namely that there appears to be more than one, and non-duality, therefore, is an illusion.

But it is the other way around. Non-duality is formless, thus endless, wherefore there is no more than the formlessness of oneness. Consequently, everything you read is fake, including explaining that the brain makes your appearance as someone in a world of duality. No one has caused the illusion of duality because that requires more than one.

Nevertheless, while you appear to be someone in a world of duality, it is entertaining going with the duality flow. And like believing you got presents from Santa Clauss seemed amusing until you grew up and realised he was make-believe, the same thing is bound to happen with duality if you apply one or more of Alexius’ Duality Hacks.

Whether living naked in the forest is a dream or you are doing it is the same to the brain. It does not differentiate between what you believe is real or imaginative because all its experiences are nothing twisted into something meant to be entertaining. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

FELLING ENTERTAINED OR FRUSTRATED BY DUALITY:
The brain does not differentiate between the experiences you believe in having when awake, asleep, watching a movie or meditating. Nor does it separate what you perceive to be experienced by you or others or divide experiences into real or imaginary, authentic or fake, physical or spiritual. All the experiences are processed in one higgledy-piggledy by the same organ in the brain.

Although the brain does not care about the difference between the writer and reader of this article, it establishes them as a pair of opposing elements. Like all the other duality pairs that make up the world of duality, the writer and the reader are not meant to fight but define each other to have a genuine experience of respectively being a writer and reader. However, that does not mean the brain considers the world of duality as real. On the contrary, it is fully aware that it has been rendered from nothing to look like something. And so what? The purpose is to have fun and feel entertained by the ongoing interaction of opposites.

Unfortunately, most divide the duality pairs, so the opposing elements are not supporting but fighting each other. After that, they assume you must get rid of hate to feel love. But without hatred to define love, you do not get genuine love but a conceptualised version of it. Thus you feel frustrated.

But if you stick to the duality pairs’ ongoing interaction, you feel entertained whether you fantasise about something or act it out. The basic self instinctively knows this, so, in fantasies, it lives out forbidden feelings. Read more about that in hack #4.3 The toxic mix of physical and non-physical issues.

When the special self says it needs time to process this image, it wants not to be disturbed while it twist it into something based on the past, so nothing seems to upset its conditioned view of the world. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

TO EDIT YOUR EXPERIENCES OR NOT:
Appearing to be a special self is not something that comes naturally. It requires constant manipulation to construct an appearance of you as special in the politically correct way. Fortunately, that is unnecessary when not caring about appearance, thus being a basic self with no need to be, do, and have anything specific but the happiness which comes from perceiving the brain’s script as it is and not as it could be.

The basic self does not ask what is around the next corner, whereas this uncertainty scares the special self. It needs to know what comes next. Thus it digs into the past to find events perceived as similar to the present. Based on its comparison, it draws up a prediction of the future. If it does not work out as anticipated, the special self twists its perception of the outcome, or the past, or both, until it seems to run the show.

Therefore, the special self seems to be in control because of its immense knowledge – or will be when it has excluded what it assumes to prevent it from being in control. However, the more it eliminates, the more it dissociates itself from the nature of life, which is not exclusive but inclusive. Consequently, the special self excludes itself from feeling connected.

Although one would think that would make the special self realise it is better not to be exclusive, the special self concludes it must be more exclusive to feel safe. Hence it does not use the inherent energy of its anxiety as a take-off into the empty breath that wipes the slate clean for misperceptions (read more about that here). Instead, it edits the anxiety so it does not seem to be disturbed by it.

Read how to take-off into the empty breath in hack #5.1 Uncontrolled speed leads to a state of not-knowing.

Physically speaking, this does not cause the special self to be out of sync with the brain’s script because the brain remains in charge. But mentally speaking, it is entirely out of sync with it because everything that does not fit into the way it expects it to be is excluded from its perception.

Since the special self is an imaginary self constructed by subtracting what it does not like in itself, it always feels incomplete, and therefore always looking for something to add to feel complete.

When the special self sees the woman in this image, it probably makes a perception that hides what it actually feels, so the experience is perceived to be consistent with the image it has constructed of itself. On the other hand, the basic self has nothing to live up to, thus nothing to hide. So it relates to the image as it is, namely a woman without clothes in the middle of a forest. If this is felt as disgusting or stimulating does not matter because ‘it is what it is.’ Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

EQUALLY ENTERTAINED BY GOOD AND EVIL:
When you are told to go to jail in a game, what and where you appear to be cannot change the instruction. Likewise, you get unchangeable instructions from the brain, regardless of what and where you seem to be.

The notion of yourself as special is based on how you perceive to affect others and what you imagine they react to that. Thus you constantly adjust your perception of their responses, so it seems to confirm that you are special. See also The closer you look, the less you see.

If the basic self is asked to go to jail, it does so without asking why because it follows the brain’s commands, which are all about feeling entertained – not just the basic self but everybody because the brain fabricates everything. Read more about that here.

But the special self thinks the brain’s ways are superficial, so it tries to find better ways. Although nothing changes, and the special self remains the basic self created by the brain, it believes it has been transformed. It upholds this idea by eliminating everything from its perception of the basic self that it judges wrong, so it seems to have become a more unique and free new self. To prove its freedom when it cannot avoid following instructions, the special self claims it has been framed and will make the guilty pay for the unjust. Thus the special self sees itself as in control.

If you forget all about being a basic, special or any other kind of self and thus do not know what you are, the Enlightenment of that which is One is bid welcome (hack #6.1 The Enlightenment of that which is One). But since it takes more than one to be somebody, nobody is in the Enlightenment of that which is One. Thus nobody is enlightened. Yet somebody who sometimes steps aside, so there is nothing but the Enlightenment of that which is One, is to be compared to an Enlightened.

Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings are not accompanied by soft music with sounds from whales, pictures of rosy lotus flowers, promises of a better world, fantasies of unconditional love, higher states of consciousness or other conceptual attributes of duality. Actually, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings have nothing to give. That is why they undo the belief in more than One.

Alexius is such a person. Consequently, his Duality Hacks are founded on that which is One, thus having nothing to give since that requires more than one.

Even though the basic self does not experience triumph and disaster to be the same, it is equally entertained by them because they are both perceived as ‘it is what it is.’

APPENDIX:
Only the special self needs to question everything and urge others to do the same. The basic self never asks who it is or where to go. Like in a board game, it simply moves by the dice, whether that takes it to a place defined as a prison or a free spot. Every experience is equally entertaining because its reaction to them is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’

The throw of the dice also determines where the special self goes. However, it hides that it must obey commands by making a story that, in retrospect, establishes itself as the master.
