‘A state of not-knowing’ and the after-effect

Everything believed to be a fact is made of the brain. It is, for example, not a fact that you see this picture now. It has taken the brain one second to fabricate this experience. Hence what you believe in seeing, you saw in the past. And then again, there was no picture one second ago. It is a fantasy of the brain made from nothing to make it look like you are something. TWISTING EMPTINESS INTO SOMETHING EXCITING
The brain claims the experiences it produces are
founded on information from our sensory system. Most gladly accept this because otherwise, it is evident our experiences are a fantasy fabricated by the brain, wherefore what we see does not consist of tangible elements but intangible thoughts. See, Eyes do not see.

You may have noticed that even with your eyes closed, the brain can produce vivid images that look like the world you see with open eyes. And it does not require you to be sexually stimulated by something in the physical world to produce an orgasm while you are dreaming. The substantiality of what and where you believe in being is a fantasy synthesised by the brain from nothing – like if you watch several movies in a row, the brain pieces their different work of fiction into one continuous story that feels so compelling you forget it is fantasy.

That is because whether experiences are perceived as yours or others, real or imagined, authentic or fake, fabrication or factual, physical or spiritual, they are processed by the brain in one higgledy-piggledy by the same organ. It views everything it processes as nothing that needs to be shaped into something so engaging that you do not notice it is fantasy. Nor does the brain want you to see that it is as immaterial as the experiences it produces to appear as something by making you believe they establish you as someone substantial in a tangible world.

Since any experience of something has taken the brain one second to form from nothing (read more about that here), you can undo it by going back one second second, thus entering the bliss of nothing.

Those who want to be in a merry-go-round world may first like to read about the bliss of a state of not-knowing. But when they realise the bliss comes from not believing to be someone definitive, they avoid a state of not knowing by making sure to perform as somebody definitive – for example, saying, »I need time to process it.«Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
Since every experience you have has taken the brain one second to manufacture, the origin of what you believe in experiencing now is one second away (read more about that here). Therefore, if you go back one second, you return to the nothingness the brain has twisted into something you perceive to happen now.

Unfortunately, the freedom from something may feel claustrophobic because you have nowhere to hide your emotions. Fortunately, this exposes them as nothing, wherefore you enter a state of not-knowing. Since that is like falling into an unsubstantial body, you neither feel physical nor integrated with higher energies. Hence there is no need to label anything.

Nevertheless, the brain goes on like before, producing experiences of something from out of nothing. But since what you believed in being cannot be recalled in a state of not-knowing, there is nobody to perceive its experiences as something. That is why you are in the bliss of nothing, thus nowhere, because it has not been rendered into something by the brain. However, there is nobody to be aware of this until you return to the conscious experience of being someone definitive, and blissful memories of not believing to be someone pop up.

In other words, everything said in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings about a state of not-knowing is based on Alexius’ memories. And though a state of not-knowing is impersonal, memories are personal, so Alexius’ memories may differ from yours – like two persons drinking the same tea often remember it differently.

The brain feels abandoned if you are more than 20 minutes, 45 at most, in a state of not-knowing because you have not reacted to the brain’sfiction of something as if it is real. Therefore, since it gives up producing more experiences of you as someone, you cannot return to the consciousness of being someone in a world of something, nor can you continue in the bliss of nothing since the fantasy about being someone is over.

In a state of not-knowing, your eyes may be closed or open. Perhaps you sit in a bus or a park, walk down a noisy street, talk a lot or are silent. Everything is normal, and thoughts go on as usual since what and where you appear to be is a construction of thoughts. There is one difference, though. But most likely, you leave a state of not-knowing a long time before the brain falls apart. And since you are returning to the consciousness of being someone definitive with a clean slate, you automatically serve the brain, thus everybody, because the brain has no personal preferences. 

Only in a world where there seems to be more than one, does there appear to be levels, so if you experience to be advancing through levels, the belief that in more than One is not being undone but enhanced.

Since this feels very satisfying, you do not look for something specific but happily go with the duality flow (hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality) or take a break from duality via a state of not-knowing, or maybe you remain there so the enlightenment of that which is One can undo the belief in being someone. It does not alter or transform anything, as that requires more than one. Instead, it wipes out everything that calls for more than one. Hence there is nobody to be aware that you graciously keep falling until there is nothing to unite with oneness. Read more about that in hack #6.1 The Enlightenment of that which is One.

The willingness to have that done is often initiated by admitting you are not willing to recognise what you believe in being is nothing. By acknowledging this, you agree that what you appear to be is make-believe, thus, not real. If you try to return to a state of not-knowing by replicating the last one, you will not enter it because what you intend to replicate is memories, and contrary to a state of not-knowing, they are perceived as something. And if you use second-hand knowledge of how to get the bliss of nothing, you become the special self. Since it focuses on realising itself, you will not enter a state of not-knowing as it is selfless.

You cannot welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One when you want to exist because it takes more than one to be alive. This does not mean you need to die. That also calls for more than one.

Having glimpses of enlightenment, you stick to one aspect at a time. So if you feel it, you do not try to see it. Yet, if visions of it start to take over, you go with that. Suppose you do not try to divide your vision into different shapes. In that case, you will not see patterns and colours in the visual glimpses of enlightenment but one bright light. GLIMPSES OF ENLIGHTENMENT IN A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING:
In a state of not-knowing, you may have glimpses of enlightenment. But they are not the enlightenment of that which is One – just like a movie trailer is not the movie but samples of it.

The enlightenment of that which is One cannot be experienced because it requires more than one to be aware of something. Nevertheless, you can see, hear, feel or taste glimpses of it. They are experienced with the inward-facing senses, so they do not blend in with the world of the outward-facing senses. Read more about that here.

In other words, the visual glimpses of enlightenment do not lighten up a room. On the contrary, it makes it impossible to see it. And even though the ethereal harmonies are the most subtle polyphony of bell-like sounds, they do not mix with church bells or any other mundane sound. That is why you better block out glimpses of enlightenment when driving a car or doing something else that calls for your focus on the world of the outward-facing senses.

Since we are used to perceiving experiences as coming from outside, we perceive glimpses of enlightenment to come from inside or another world. But this is not so. They come from a gap in nothing, almost unprocessed by the brain. The experiences perceived to be outside of us also come from nothing. However, they are heavily processed by the brain, so they appear as something.

HOW TO ENTER A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING:
All Alexius’ Duality Hacks, except the Enlightenment of that which is One, will eventually take you back one second to nothingness the brain has twisted into something, as explained above. Below we explore that a bit further.

When you feel speedy and restless, you use its uncontrolled energy to ignite a take-off to the empty breath (see hack #5.1 Uncontrolled speed leads to a state of not-knowing). But if you feel tired, pretending to be that probably is the better choice of a hack because what you pretend to be is not you (see hack #1.3 Pretending to be someone definitive is liberation).

If you tend to justify everything unpleasant with the world, perceiving everything as symbols of oneness could be the hack to apply. In this case, Alone together is also a good hack. Please be aware that the purpose of Alexius’ Duality Hacks is not to heal the body but the sick belief that you are in it. That said, the more this unhealthy belief is healed, the more the body is set free from your dominance. Hence the biological system is not blocked from taking care of the body on its terms. Getting into a state of not-knowing is as easy as told, but since we all are in the habit of looking for a solution in the experiences we perceive as something, we may get lost in them, thus feeling hopeless. No worries, there is so much energy in hopelessness that unedited ignites a take-off into the empty breath.

INTERLUDE:
The experience of you as someone in a tangible world can only be exposed as a hallucination if you are willing to have the belief in being someone undone. Having that willingness, the undoing occurs when you keep reading Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings. Do not expect them to save you or give you something better because it takes more than one to do so, and there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. Fortunately, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings do not result in something but nothing, so they automatically hack the belief in being something.

THE AFTER-EFFECT OF A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING:
Suppose you do not want to end the experience of being somebody. In that case, you need to leave a state of not-knowing after 20 minutes, 45 at most – otherwise, there is not somebody to repeatedly confirm that the experiences fabricated by the brain are something. Therefore, since they are exposed as nothing, there does not appear to be something keeping the brain together, so it falls into a coma.

But if you leave a state of not-knowing before that, you come back to the conscious experience of being someone with the slate wiped clean, thus free to follow the brain’s script. See hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy. It feels like you start from the ground up, moving very slowly with no other purpose than to fine-tune the body as a tool for the experience of a tangible world.

Although it is not done systemically with coordinated movements, breathing, and meditation, others assume they if they replicate these slow movements in a focused mode via Tai Chi or Qigong, they magically enter a higher state of being. However, a state of not-knowing does not arise from focusing but from defocusing. That said, it can also occur from being deeply involved in something when it is not done per a particular philosophy or to escape something.

Returning with the slate wiped clean from a state of not-knowing to the experience of being someone, the relationships you used to have may seem dull because you have no need to exploit others when not trying to be unique.

As long as the after-effect of a state of not-knowing lasts, which can be from a few seconds to several years, you rely on the brain to produce experiences of being someone in a tangible world – just like you depend on it to compose a dream. Going along with the experiences as the brain makes them, and not as you think they should be, feels like sleepwalking. It is effortless unless you insist on doing things your way, which is stressful. Fortunately, uncontrolled stress ignites a take-off into the empty breath and the bliss of nothing, from where you return with a clean slate, thus having an effortless life as someone in the brain’s fantasy of a tangible world.

Like the empty breath syncs being nobody with being somebody in a state of not-knowing, so you can move around in nothing as if it is something, it also does that when you return to the consciousness of being someone. But, of course, the ratio is different in the after-effect of a state of not-knowing.

In a state of not-knowing, there is so little consciousness of being somebody that there is nobody to perceive the different experiences to make a difference. That is why you are in the bliss of nothing. But in the after-effect, the empty breath syncs the bliss of nothing with the conscious experience of something, so the nothingness is forgotten when you need to drive a car, for example. In other words, in a state of not-knowing, you are mainly nobody and, in the after-effect, somebody.

Be aware that there is no will to perceive anything in a particular way in a state of not-knowing. And the transition from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone is not noticed because there is not somebody to be aware of having been in a state of not-knowing. Nor do you not know that the bliss of nothing has wiped the slate clean, wherefore your psychological projections on the body have been lifted, and your perceptions automatically are generated in sync with the brain’s script (see hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy). However, you notice you are in the duality flow (see hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality) because the body feels light, and you have no need to project anything on it.

Thoughts and feelings may seem distant in a state of not-knowing, but when you return to the consciousness of being someone definitive, they are very close. That does not necessarily mean it always is like that. Your conditioned way of reacting to something may be so deeply rooted that you return to a familiar response pattern. But, no worries, a quick visit to a state of not-knowing, and you start over again with a clean slate in the brain’s fantasy world of duality pairs.

Sooner or later, you feel so entertained by twofoldness that you are blown out. Therefore, since there does not appear to be someone experiencing something, nothing seems to hide the formlessness of oneness.

APPENDIX:
To be in sync with the script of the brain does not mean you have to like it but that you have to relate to it as it is and not as you think it should be per a particular philosophy. In other words, whether you respond with anger or joy to the brain’s script, you are in a dialogue with the brain, thus feeling its love.

But if you reject the brain’s script by responding to a story believed better, such as socialism, you are not communicating with the brain but with your fable about a better world. Hence you do not feel the brain’s love because you are always looking for something better.NOTE: This article is part of hack #5.2 The empty breath and the bliss of nothing.

What does ‘the empty breath’ feel like?

The inner breath is not restricted to be felt as a specific form, neither to only be felt inside. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Since the empty breath is not definitive, it cannot be experienced in a specific way. But it can be felt in undefinable ways anywhere within its non-definitive framework – whether that appears to be inside or outside the body – but never consistently the same, although it is always present.

You can feel the empty breath in many ways within its non-definable frame of a ball-like thingy. Its top passes through the head, and the bottom through the stomach. But the ball may be bigger or smaller. See below. It is not explicitly experienced inside or outside the body, so it is not an out-of-body experience. Besides, such an experience is based on the belief in being someone in a body, and the empty breath undoes that idea, so it is a no-body experience. However, that does not mean you do not take care of the body and the world around it when connected with the empty breath, but that you are indifferent to the outcome.

In the connectedness with the empty breath there is nothing that appears disturbing. But trying to connect with it everything seems disturbing, because the purpose of trying to do something is to delay it.

The inner breath has no definitive center or anything else in a fixed position, so your experience of it may be different from mine. Maybe you primarily experience it in the stomach, in the chest or both inside and outside of your body within the non definitive borders of a ball. It may change from moment to moment, as  – unlike this image – it is not static. This image however illustrates when all its movements are experienced simultaneously, which feels as if the everything stands still.

The empty breath has no definitive centre or border, nor is anything else fixed. Everything is constantly moving, so the experience changes from moment to moment. Maybe it is felt in the stomach or chest or outside the body. Should your experience differ from Alexius’ description, go with the flow as it comes to you.

FEELINGS ARE SUBJECTIVE
If you are future-minded, you might experience the empty breath starting in front of you, whereas it probably is felt to arrive from the back if you are concerned about the past. And if you are into the concepts like living in the now, being centred and balanced, it might feel like it has a centre. In other words, the experience of the empty breath is coloured by your conditioning.

That is not a problem for the empty breath because contrary to you, it does not need to be acknowledged in a particular way. So whether you experience it in the stomach, the chest, or outside the body, it carries out its purpose, which is to make you indifferent to your experiences.

The empty breath is indifferent to all the apparent differences of the world, so the more you connect with it, the more you adapt to its indifference and the less you want to be someone who makes a difference.

Since the empty breath is not static, its experience may quickly change and differ from those described below. No worries, connecting with it is not about doing something specific to feel something definitive but going with the flow. You only feel obliged to do ‘the right thing’ when you want to make a difference.

I am not a talented illustrator, so instead of making an illustration of the inner breath, I have manipulated an image found on the internet in order to give you an idea of the simultaneously movements inside it.

A BASIC INTRO TO THE NON-DEFINITIVE SHAPE OF THE THE EMPTY BREATH
The empty breath is modelled like an egg-shaped ball with oval circles moving inside it. But contrary to what you see in the illustration to the right, it does not have a definitive centre or border. Nor do the circles inside it. They are countless, and inside each one, there are two yin-yang-shaped waves. You cannot see the waves inside the circles in the simplified illustration to the right. But in the second image from here, there is a sample of two waves inside one of the circles.

That the empty breath has a non-definitive form does not only mean its edge is blurry but that neither size nor shape is constant. It may get bigger and smaller here and there, so it momentarily feels more pear-shaped than egg-shaped. But it has no up and down, and the apparent centre of each circle inside the non-definitive ball of the empty breath is floating. Hence there are many non-fixed centres.

The innumerable amount of diffused shaped circles inside the non-definitive boundary of the empty breath is located vertically and horizontally, plus in between, with each of them having yin-yang-shaped waves inside them. There is an illustration of the yin-yang-shaped waves inside one of the circles in the below paragraph SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH. But the circles are actually fused into one yin-yang-shaped movement rolling in all directions – a bit like in the animation in the paragraph THE SWING OF THE EMPTY BREATH or the two last animations of this article.

However, since that is very difficult to comprehend in a world where we are conditioned to divide reality into more than one, most do not feel the totality of the empty breath but one of the many circles inside it. No worries. It is not about perfection but going with the flow as it comes to you.

The empty breath has no specific centre, and though it seems to consist of endless circles in various movements, everything is fused into one single move. But since this is hard to comprehend in a world where there seems to be more than one, you may find it easier to deal with one circle at a time.

Maybe the flow is a circle going vertically from the stomach around the back of the body to the top of the head when breathing in, and from there, in a circular movement in front of the body and back to the stomach when breathing out. Or it could also be in the opposite direction. It does not matter. As already said, it is about going with the flow, so follow it where it goes.

Perhaps it goes in a circle, about the same diameter as above, from the abdomen to the throat and back or the rectum to the heart and back. The circle can also expand its diameter, so it goes from the abdomen to a point above the head and back or from the rectum further above the head and back. Since the latter circle metaphorically goes from hell to heaven, you may feel frightened or spaced out if you get stuck in one of those extremes. See hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

But the circle may be smaller, for example, from the heart to a point above the head. Or perhaps you do not feel the flow in a vertical circle from the back to the front of you but from the left to the right side or anywhere between these two. You can also feel it horizontally. But no matter where you perceive the empty breath, it is the same emptiness you encounter (read more about that here).

Below is a short introduction to some ways of feeling the empty breath, then a more detailed description. Be aware that feeling the empty breath, as described in this article, is only possible to the extent that you do not wish to be or have more because the empty breath has nothing to give but the sheer bliss of emptiness.

A BASIC INTRO TO FOUR WAYS OF FEELING THE EMPTY BREATH
Sensing the operator of the empty breath (see below) feels like you are floating on clouds of bliss. In contrast, going with the rhythmic flow of the empty breath is more like being moved by clouds of bliss.

The rhythmic flow can be heard as a distant sound or felt like a swing (see below). It can also be sensed as if nobody is surfing two yin-yang-like waves in and outside the body (see the next paragraph).

These categories are not meant to limit your experience of the empty breath but to inspire you to follow its flow.

It may feel like you are surfing these waves, more or less in sync with the physical breath. The colours in this image only have an illustrative purpose.

SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH
You see a simplified simulation of the empty breath in the illustration with the red circles pictured to the right above. But the circles are not actually red, and there are an endless number of them. And the drawing does not reflect that the empty breath has no definitive border or centre, and each circle inside it contains two non-definitive yin-yang-shaped wave holes (see the above image). They are colourless. The colours in this image and the others in the article only have an illustrative purpose.

When the breath expands the body, you surf the outside of the blue wave vertically from the stomach and behind the body up into the head. From there, you surf the outside of the yellow wave in front of the body down to the stomach while the breath is contracting the body. That is, if you are sensing the waves in a circle going vertically from the back to the front of the body. But, as mentioned above, the direction does not matter, and the circle can be smaller and bigger. Besides surfing the two yin-yang-like waves in a vertical circle, you can surf the waves in a horizontal circle or anywhere between.

No need to be in total sync with the rhythm of the physical expansion and contraction of the body, nor does it matter if part of the empty breath’s circular movement is skipped. What matters is you follow the flow as it comes to you. By doing that, you forget the physical breath. Hence it can take care of itself without you trying to inflict it with ideas of balance and whatnot.

Maybe the most ecstatic way to surf the waves is to go the whole way around one of them and then continue by going the entire way around the other, more or less aligned with the breath extracting and contracting the body. However, many other joyous ways are probably revealed when you are in the flow.

Alexius has never been surfing in the world of the outward-facing senses, so when he says going with the flow of the two yin-yang like waves in a circle inside the empty breath feels like surfing, it is something he imagines based on movies.

As already said, you can surf the waves of the empty breath in both directions. Going counterclockwise tends to lessen physical awareness, so you become less interested in returning to the conscious experience of being someone substantial in a tangible world. The same applies if the non-definable edges of the empty breath are not experienced to pass through the head but on top of it and below the abdomen.

That sets the body free, so it can follow its biological system without you trying to integrate it with mental ideas of wellness, which is like trying to blend the material world with the immaterial world of a dream or vice versa. It does not work. Read more about that in hack #4.3 The fake mix of physical and non-physical issues. However, you can surf the waves of the the empty breath to ease pain in the body. See the appendix at the bottom.

Since it takes more than one to feel something, it is only in a world where there seems to be more than one it is possible to do that. Therefore, the more the belief in such a world is undone by the empty breath, the less you feel it.

It is impossible to illustrate the swing of the empty breath because it has no definable form or movement. Nevertheless, this animation may give you an idea. The swing of the empty breath is generated from the blurred curved line in the middle of the picture. But even though going with the swing of it is magnificent, it is often a laid-back experience of expansion and contraction.

THE SWING OF THE EMPTY BREATH
You surf the empty breath on the waves in any of the circles within the non-definitive border of the empty breath. But you feel the swing of the empty breath from the movement of the non-definitive curved line between the two yin-yang-like waves in any of the circles (see the curved line in the illustration to the left). Perhaps due to the definitive size of the body, the curved line in the swing of the empty breath feels less bowed and probably shorter than the rounded line between the two waves described above.

The swing of the empty breath extracts and contracts the body in a steady rhythmic flow of breathing in and out that may seem slower than when you imagined being in charge of the breath. And the break in between expansion and contraction may feel longer. Nevertheless, the swing of the empty breath probably feels more powerful – so much indeed that it feels like the body does not have enough room for it at first.

The curved line does not just swing from the back to front concerning the body but also up and down, from side to side and everywhere in between, which you may sense in the illustration to the left. Though you can feel all these directions simultaneously, it probably is so unfamiliar that you may prefer to feel the swing of the empty breath in one vertical circle at a time.

The circles with the swing of the empty breath are more egg-shaped (see the illustration to the left). But you will not notice that because it is only the swing of the curved line inside ‘the egg’ that you feel, probably in a way that does not seem logical. For example, breathing in, you may solely experience the swing of the empty breath at the bottom of ‘the egg’ and breathing out at the top of it – or the other way around, or only in the bottom, or the top. You can also experience the curved line going back and forth or up and down simultaneously.

Like the other ways of feeling the empty breath, it presupposes you acknowledge you are not in charge. Using the technique for the taste of life, you automatically lose control because, whether you taste it or not, the method is beneficial for defocusing. And without focus, you are out of control. If you experience the swing of the empty breath in all the egg-shaped circles simultaneously, their fusion initially feels like everything is spinning. See the speedy animation just below. But it quickly becomes a feeling of everything standing so still that you feel the bliss of being indifferent to what and where you appear to be.

Connecting to the inner breath is fortunately not about perfection, as that requires much control and therefore blocks the inner breath to move on its own accord. The inner breath is always connected to you, but you cannot feel it if your purpose is to be someone definitive. In other words not being anybody the inner breath is not hidden. In fact it is very intense.

The swing of the empty breath is not felt as fast as the movements in this animation but rather like a steady ongoing rhythm with much force that expands and contracts the body. Yet the resulting breath in the body is often very subtle. It probably seems slower than you are used to – unlike the operator of the empty breath, which is a rush of energy within the non-definable ball that constitutes the empty breath. Even though the particles of this force are moving completely unstructured and at any speed, fast or slow – a bit like in this animation – it is such a relief to merge with this apparent chaos because that prevents you from focussing on anything specific. Hence you feel like a fountain of sparkling joy.

THE OPERATOR OF THE EMPTY BREATH
Besides feeling the swing of the empty breath or surfing its yin-yang-like waves more or less in alignment with the extraction and contraction of the physical breath, you can also feel a constant rush of energy within the non-definable border of the empty breath. This chaotic energy is not rhythmic but irregular at the root of the empty breath. Yet, it is the force behind the constant rhythm of the empty breath. The feeling is a subtle sense of being here and everywhere, or as if spinning through a world with no limits, undefined as someone.

There are no rules, but it could very well be that a take-off into the empty breath will take you to the operator of the empty breath – and what a relief it is to float in chaos instead of having to fit into the rigid world of the outward-facing senses.

Unlike the swing of the empty breath, but like surfing its waves, the operator of the empty breath is sensed inside and outside the body – or rather like there is no inside and outside. When you do not try to catch the abstractness of this, it feels like you are a fountain of sparkling joy. Sometimes it is easier to recognise outside, where the dense bodily feeling is not an obstacle. You will automatically be taken inside from there because the operator does not know one from the other. Next, you may start surfing the empty breath, feel the swing of it or hear its transparent sound (see the next paragraph).

THE TRANSPARENT SOUND OF THE EMPTY BREATH
Just like the rhythm of bass is heard and felt in the body, so is the sound of the empty breath, which is like ‘so’ when it expands and ‘ham’ when it contracts.

Sometimes it is like this rhythmic sound of ‘so-ham’ comes from the nose, but at other times, it is sensed from an undefined space in the back of the head. And then again, since the sound does not seem to have a definable location, it is neither experienced to be inside nor outside the head. It may even appear to originate from an invisible space outside the body that has nothing to do with it.

In other words, feeling the sound of the empty breath is not a compelling experience because it cancels out the notion of being in a body – as if there is no definable border between the body and its apparent surrounding. For example, a sofa does not seem to differ from a body sitting there when deeply connected with the empty breath (read more about that here). Consequently, since there is no inside and outside, there is nothing to define a world where there seems to be more than one, wherefore it is seen as make-believe.

But like the set-up in a game world is the same whether you know it is fictional, a world where there seems to be more than one remains the same even though you sense it is an illusion. However, your relationship with it changes. Appearing there is pretence, like when you pretend to be someone in the world of a game. See hack #1.3 Pretending to be someone definitive is liberation.

Do not get attached to the rhythm of the empty breath, because the feeling of the rhythm is related to the body, so it stops when the body does not function anymore.

Since a rhythm has a beginning and an end, it is best not to get attached to the rhythm of the empty breath, because it ends when the body stops to function. At that moment, it is better to merge with the indifference of the empty breath or the non rhythmic and very chaotic energy in its operator, so there is not something specific to stop the Enlightenment of that which is One from absorbing the nothingness of you. Via the transparent sound of the empty breath, you naturally float into glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. See hack #6.2 Glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. The visual-minded will experience them as visions of light, and the auditory-minded as ethereal harmonies. However, if you are more emotional-minded, you may feel the vibration that Aum, Sohang, and The Word of God symbolise or taste its sweetness.

The connection with the empty breath is a state of not-knowing. Therefore, since there is no notion of separation, the apparent difference between past, now and future makes no difference.

It is not possible to illustrate the inner breath in its totality. This yon yang animation (please abstract from the holes) though may give you an idea of the simultaneously movement of the two waves inside the inner breath.

THE CONNECTEDNESS WITH THE EMPTY BREATH IS A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
Nobody knows what the connectedness with the empty breath feels like because it is a state of not-knowing. So Alexius had to go back and forth between a state of not-knowing and the conscious experience of being someone to compile his distant memories of how the empty breath feels. Hence, his writing about it may seem patchy and confusing. If so, do not try to correct your disorientation but use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Please remember that even though the connectedness with the empty breath is impersonal, your memory of it is personal. Therefore, you may not remember it as Alexius.

If you are still confused, you are welcome to mail Alexius, although using your uncertainty to ignite a take-off into the empty breath is preferable because he can help neither you nor himself, as he sees nobody in need of help.

Hence you are better off reading about the empty breath until you can hardly stay awake. Then go to bed, forget what you read, close your eyes, and patiently wait for the empty breath. But your eyes do not have to be closed, and you do not have to go to bed to connect with the empty breath. Besides, you can sit anywhere in any position. You can also walk, run or talk. But you cannot bring about the empty breath by manipulating the physical breath or exercising any other form of control. Instead, it is the other way around. When you are not in control, the empty breath joins you.

A bicycle has nothing to do with the place, it takes you.

That is not to say that techniques cannot help you tone down the experience of being someone definitive so that your apparent existence in a tangible world is exposed as make-believe. But unfortunately, most forget that techniques have nothing to do with their accomplishments. Just like the remote control, have nothing to do with the music it triggers.

The swing of the inner breath may be experienced abruptly – like in this animation but probably a lot slower – in a s body with muscles problems from for example psoas or diafragma. There is no reason though trying to make it swing more smoothly by improving the condition of the body. The inner breath always adjust itself to the current condition of the body, so no matter how it moves it results in the same joy, providing you are not looking to be perfect.In a sick body, the swing of the empty breath might be experienced to come in bursts – a bit like in this animation but probably slower. However, no matter how restricted the swing of it is experienced, connecting with it will always entail indifference. Therefore, sticking to that, how the empty breath is experienced makes no difference.

APPENDIX: SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH TO HEAL YOUR PROBLEMS 
Alexius usually join the flow of the empty breath without thinking about directions and whatnot because, in his case, it primarily results in the sense of indifference. However, it is possible to be pickier. For example, if you worry about a strange pain in the back, you can have it massaged by continuously surfing the whole wave behind you but not the wave in front of you in a vertical circle. It may not make the pain go away but surely the worry. And without that, the pain may be easy to fix. See hack #4.3 The toxic mix of physical and non-physical issues.

Should you want to be grounded, you surf the waves in a horizontal circle, passing through the abdomen or even lower. Suppose you want to enhance being impulsive. In that case, you surf all the way around the wave to the right inside a horizontal circle going around the head. If you want to be more calculated, you surf the left wave instead.

In a circle that also is horizontal but around the chest, you can surf all the way around a wave in front of the chest to ease the restricted feeling caused by imagined emotions there. Surfing both waves in a horizontal circle around the head or stomach is excellent in the case of vertigo.

Sometimes problems like spasms are the body’s way of shaking parts into a position that benefits the whole. In such cases, spasms should be left course. But if that is not the case, you can use the empty breath to calm down the spasms.

Should you have tight hips, a blocked abdomen or spasms in the lower back, you surf the whole wave behind you and then the one in front of you in a horizontal circle in that area. You could also try surfing in a similar circle where the waves are not behind and in front of you but on your sides. The circle size, thus the waves, adjusts to the need for relaxing these areas.

The empty breath is also beneficial for alleviating allergy symptoms or the symptoms of IBS and COPD, for example. However, it may not heal these or the aforementioned physical sicknesses because Alexius’ Duality Hacks aims not to heal the body but the sick belief that someone is in it. Read more about that here. But since that frees the body from your domination, it often heals itself. That said, if this is what you want, it is best not to use the empty breath but instead be used by it and trust that it gives you what is in your best interest.

The look of these sound waves reminds me in some ways of how it feels to be connected with the inner breath.

Notes on ‘the duality flow’

The basic self does not need to edit the experience of the world into something that complies with special concepts of being together in harmony, balance or whatnot. On the contrary, since everything experienced is created by the brain, the basic self is together with everything, regardless of appearance. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When you perceive yourself as special, you constantly look for somebody to ratify your significance (read more about that here). But as closeness may reveal that your need to meet others is egoistic, you substitute genuine feelings of togetherness with conceptualised ones. So, for example, you adjust to the table manners of a traditional dinner party to appear close without actually being intimate – or you get popcorn and a classic movie to rewatch with someone as if you are close.

On the other hand, the basic self is not someone specific. It is relative to the moment put together by the experiences produced by the brain. Hence it has nothing to lose by genuinely feeling the present – nor if it seems frightening because fear is defined by calmness which defines fear, so the experience of them is genuine. Therefore, since you are in sync with your dualistic nature, you feel amused following the interaction of opposites.

Practically speaking, you get into the interaction of opposites by not accepting fear as a specific feeling. However, that does not mean you should avoid it. On the contrary, you acknowledge it to perceive it as ‘it is what it is,’ which reveals fear is not a specific feeling because it constantly interacts with its opposite, calmness, so that they can define each other. And since twofoldness is the nature of dualism, this establishes you as someone in a world of duality, wherefore you can hack it. Fortunately, going with the interaction of opposites, called the duality flow, you have fun while hacking duality.

That said, when you are not interested in being special, thus going on automatic gear as the basic self, you do not have to perceive specific feelings as ‘it is what it is.’ The brain automatically does that. Maybe it does not perceive them using those words. But you know specific feelings have been exposed as twofold when you cannot help but laugh, feeling the duality flow.

However, you do not laugh when not in the duality flow because being stuck in a specific feeling makes you nervous. Maybe you feel it in the stomach because to feel only positive, you suppress your negativity by projecting it onto a vulnerable part of the body. But you do not need to know what you have hidden to solve the problem of feeling confined by singleness. If you perceive your reaction to the upset stomach as ‘it is what it is,’ you see your response is twofold. Since that makes you feel complete, you have nothing to worry about.

You must judge something as inharmonious to know when you experience something harmonious. But as most people after that exclude the inharmonious, there is not something to define the harmonious experience. Consequently, what they get is an intellectual idea about harmony.

The special self expects others not to question its story of greatness but to adapt to it so that the world appears ordinary and the special self seems original. It is its way of hiding that it feels inferior. However, if not hiding that, feeling worthless can be perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ Thus revealing it is coupled with feeling extraordinary to define each other, so you get genuine feelings, not conceptual ones.

Splitting a duality pair into two distinct elements by projecting one of them onto your body or the world, none is genuine anymore because they need each other to be defined. Therefore, since they both become substantial, thus enduring instead of fleeting, you feel imprisoned by them. Fortunately, as you already know, ‘it is what it is’ undoes your fixed idea about what you feel.

When you follow the nature of duality, it does not seem to have a hold on you, whereas fighting it makes you feel imprisoned. Being with duality is easy when you stop holding onto something specific. That does not mean you cannot have a particular spouse but that your reaction to the relationship is twofold.

You either breathe in or out. One excludes the other. Yet, they pave the way for one another. That is the way of the duality pairs.

If you want positivity, you must also welcome negativity because everything comes in pairs of opposites in a world of duality. In non-duality, you can neither have negative nor positive vibes because it requires more than one to have anything. When your attitude to something is single-minded, you get a specific peak experience. But this does not last because everything comes in pairs of opposites in a world of duality. Thus being at the top is soon replaced by being at the bottom. But if your approach is dualistic, you do not head specifically for the top but for the constant interplay of the highest and the lowest. Thus you are in the duality flow, which may not be as exciting an experience as solely being at the top. However, it continues to amuse you.

The duality flow depends not on the specific elements in a duality pair but on the resilient energy between them – like the springy drive that makes a yoyo go up and down.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel you have nowhere to go and do not perceive it as a singular state of mind but a dualistic one containing nowhere and everywhere, you are in the duality flow. The same applies if you go with the interplay of irritation and relaxation. However, the duality flow is not about the opposing elements in the duality pairs but their interaction. That is what makes you feel complete – just like the interplay of breathing in and out makes you feel alive.

And like the opposing elements in the breath depend on each other, so do the components in other duality pairs. That is why you can only feel positive when contrasted with negativity. So if you are not in the constant interplay of positivity and negativity, what you believe in feeling when you claim to be positive is a concept conjured up by distancing yourself from negativity via meditation, for example. That is like separating yourself from either breathing in or out. You need them both to survive.

In short, in a world of duality, you keep the duality pairs intact so that the duality flow can vitalise you.

You do not have to choose between good and evil in the duality flow. They complement each other. Therefore, since one is not better than the other, there is nothing to judge, thus nothing to establish fear as a specific feeling. Instead, you feel it interacts with trust.

In a world of duality, everything comes in pairs of opposing components that depend on each other. Thus splitting them into independent elements to hold onto just one of them and disassociate yourself from the other is impossible. Yet, it is possible to imagine you can get rid of your negativity by projecting it onto others, thus appearing solely positive yourself. However, you feel sluggish since this mental stance is achieved by repressing part of yourself. On the other hand, you feel energetic following the duality flow because twofoldness is the nature of duality.

If you are into being and having the best, the duality flow experience may be a continuous movement between the best and the worst. Should you want to be spiritual, the motion is probably between that and materialism. The duality flow could also go between hope and hopelessness or between what you hold dear and fear.

Since the perception ‘it is what it is’ reveals that your response to something is twofold, and you are in a world of duality, it brings about completeness. However, as everything comes in pairs, completeness is coupled with incompleteness. No worries, you are neither whole nor fragmented but in the constant motion between these opposites – just like when one end of a see-saw goes up, the other goes down.

When someone is hurt in a movie, you may feel pain and relived when the problem is fixed. But since the film is not perceived as real, you feel entertained by going up and downs. That is how it is to be connected with the empty breath.

Having established ‘it is what it is’ as your default perception, you are always in the togetherness of the duality flow, thus feeling plentiful and not needy as when you divide the duality pairs into separate components.

The satisfaction you get from being in the duality flow is unlike what you get from something perceived as specific because you are always afraid of losing it, whereas you cannot lose the duality flow.

Since everything comes in pairs in a world of duality, there is no sense in searching for something specific. That is such a relief.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you want the satisfaction of the duality flow, it is essential not to focus on anything specific. The same applies if you wish to undo the belief in duality. Therefore, since the perception ‘it is what it is’ cancels out anything specific, you kill two birds with one stone by applying it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A long time ago, Alexius conditioned himself to hide his sorrow behind justified anger and disgust. That changed when he did not try to hide or rationalise his grief but perceived his reaction to it as ‘it is what it is.’ Then, he met a little boy floating on waves of sweet nectar inside his sorrow.

Therefore, since he saw sorrow was paired with mellowness, he stopped fencing off sadness to feel good. Instead, the interaction of happiness and sadness became his basic experience of the duality flow.

To feel important is a single-minded notion that has been separated from its counterpart. Hence it brings about loneliness. But in the duality flow, importance interacts with unimportance. Thus you get togetherness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Feeling good is not about making the body relax but how you perceive your reaction to its condition. For example, if your response is irritation, you assume your body is its source. But relaxing your body will not make you feel better psychologically because the problem is not in your body but in your reaction. When you perceive that as ‘it is what it is, you see, irritation is coupled with pleasure, and they depend on each other to be genuinely experienced. Therefore, since you cannot have irritation without pleasure and vice versa, you feel delighted when you see your irritation as dual, thus having nothing to blame the body for.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Having followed the duality flow for some time, the specific state of mind you used to conjure up to feel at ease is forever out of reach. Now everything is seen as twofold. What that means, you do not know. Nor do you care because you feel completed by the constant interaction of opposites. Hence there is no need for a specific state of mind or perspective to escape feeling disturbed.

If you succeed in letting go of your hatred, you also get rid of the ability to feel love because everything comes in pairs of opposing elements that define each other. Hate defines love and vice versa, so you cannot have one without the other.

Therefore, to quickly get back the love you have discarded by projecting your hate onto others, you perceive ‘their’ hate as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals it is coupled with love. And since you can only see what you have, you feel the togetherness of love and hate in yourself. Read here about quickly bringing back your repressed emotions by seeing them in others.

In the duality flow, our response to something is not singular but twofold. Therefore, nothing is problematic since nothing is considered distinctly right or wrong. However, most people are identified with their problems, so they hang onto them by maintaining their conditioned views of right and wrong, although it makes them feel imprisoned.

In contrast, they can have their issues and feel free from them if not judged as definitely right or wrong but instead going with the interaction of right and wrong. So, for example, if you appear clumsy and do not judge that as right or wrong, you have your problem, but it is not problematic.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being intuitive, you do not try to interfere with the brain. Thus you are in the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not have to plan when in the duality flow. That is not to say that you never need to think ahead to get something done. But the appropriate thoughts pop up automatically when you are in the duality flow. They may not come in a systematised way but in the spontaneous way of nature.

It does not plant seeds in rows to get the most in return but enthusiastically throws them everywhere to see what happens. Nor does it build something totalitarian like Bauhaus or construct a meal in a categorical style like Nordic. In other words, following the duality flow, nothing is predictable except having fun because your experience is in sync with the present moment.

That said, you neither have to plan when you are not in the duality flow because the brain is always in charge. So if an event seemed to go according to your plan, it is because you, in retrospect, interpreted it, so it turned out as hoped for – like you shape a chaotic dream with words such as patterns, displacement activity, unity, synchronicity and karma to make it seem consistent with your point of view. However, editing your experiences is exhausting, and it limits you by your conditioned view. In contrast, it is effortless going with the experiences as they are, thus not restricted to being someone definitive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There is no truth to extract from Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings. They are a part of a world where there seems to be more than one, and such a world is non-existing because there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. Hence, the basic and special self’s differentiation and perceptions are nonsense.

Nevertheless, that craziness can be beneficial in exposing the absurdity of believing to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

Notes on feelings

Feeling wrong is your decision because your emotions are shaped by how you perceive your reaction to something. But if you decide not to perceive your reaction as specific, the brain automatically takes over and perceives it as ‘it is what it is.’ And since the brain operates in pairs, your reaction is twofold. Therefore, as sadness is paired with happiness, you are in the interplay of happiness and sadness. This polarity, like any other, makes you feel complete. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

»If you’re sitting in a safe and comfortable position, close your eyes and try to feel your heart beating in your chest. Can you, without moving your hands to take your pulse, feel each movement and count its rhythm? Or do you struggle to detect anything at all? This simple test is just one way to assess your ‘interoception’ – your brain’s perception of your body’s state, transmitted from receptors on all your internal organs … There’s a constant communication dialogue between the brain and the viscera (internal organs).«

The above is a test to see if the connection between the brain and the body is good. The quote is from an article in the Guardian, Interoception: the hidden sense that shapes wellbeing. Like in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, the article concludes that many people have cut off the link between the body and the brain. And since the latter controls the body, it is left without guidance.

According to Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, this connection must be re-established, so the body parts do not act independently of the brain but work as a group governed by it. However, the article in the Guardian has another conclusion. It says you need to master the body, and in doing so, you are in touch with its signals and, thus, your feelings because they are in the body.

But believing you are the master is the root of the problem you are nothing but a product fabricated and conducted by the brain. Besides, imagining combining psychological feelings with the physical feelings of the body entails suffering because psychological feelings seem heavy when perceived as substantial instead of airy.

In other words, you are not the boss but a puppet mastered by the brain. Therefore, to feel good as someone in the game of the brain, you must step aside and let it do its thing. That does not mean you do not engage in its game of duality, but like when you play a computer game, you follow its rules. When you do that and perceive your reaction to the game of duality as ‘it is what it is,’ you are in sync with the brain because this perception reveals your response is twofold. Therefore, since the body’s signals are not seen as singular but dual, they are recognised by the brain.

However, if you do not want to play the game of duality, you are free to leave it. But you cannot do that unless you play it. And since participating involves feeling it dualistically, we go on in the below looking at the twofoldness of feelings.

As usual, we do not begin somewhere specific or end with a conclusion. Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings have nothing to establish because they know they are as illusionary as anything else in a world of duality. Still, reading the below ragbag of clips may help you see that this includes what you believe in being.

If something seems wrong, you may panic and think about how to fix it. But, like you must follow the Earth on its predestined ride around the sun, you are bound to follow the brain’s script. Hence there is nothing you can change. See hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happyTherefore, go with the duality flow instead of judging yourself for having failed and thus feeling inferior. When you do that, you feel complete because failure interacts with success in the duality flow.

Since connecting psychological issues with physical ones is a fantasy, you undo it by reversing it.

This article is not about Enlightenment or the reality of oneness but twofoldness because you have opted for duality instead of non-duality. To undo that decision entirely, you must live fully by duality. Fortunately, it is easy when you do not suppress aggression, for example, but go with the interaction of that and peace as you go with breathing in and out.

You cannot breathe out before you breathe in, and vice versa. In other words, you cannot have one without the other. That is how duality works. Everything comes in pairs. Acknowledging that, you feel complete. On the other hand, you feel incomplete when you divide the duality pairs into separate elements.

You do not need to balance breathing in and out. It happens by itself when you do not interfere. And, you do not need to find a balance between body and brain. If you want to undo the belief in duality, denying feelings by focusing on their energies is not helpful because the belief is based on feeling it.

Psychological feelings do not last because the psyche is airy. So if they seem to last, you have projected them onto the body to make them appear substantial, thus lasting.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The main reason most suppress negative feelings is that they fear negative emotions are dangerous to express. For example, when Alexius was a kid, his father beat him if he said or did something judged offensive. Thus Alexius was afraid to voice his negative emotions accidentally.

But just like the negative pole in electricity is as important as the positive one. You need negative feelings as much as positive ones. If you avoid the negative ones, you deteriorate, whereas you blossom if you approve of them. Read more about that in Alexius’ Childhood.

You cannot experience something as positive without judging something else as negative. Thus the negative thoughts are a confirmation of positivity and vice versa. That is the way of duality.

A world of duality needs contrasts to be experienced. Therefore, since everything comes in pairs of opposing elements, non-duality is not in such a world. Yet, many try to replicate it by being solely positive. But this singleness is not a confirmation of non-duality but separation, thus duality, because it is based on excluding negativity.

Feeling down without relating it to going up, you feel sad. Mainly going up and using it to deny feeling down, you feel insecure. But if you go with the interaction of up and down, you are not definitive but relative. Thus you are neither happy nor sad but happy/sad. However, only for a moment because another polarity soon replaces this one. Hence you keep feeling vitalised by the duality flow.

To feel something definitive is to separate. Consequently, you stop separating by not insisting on feeling something specific. You do that by perceiving the meaning you assigned to your response to an experience as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals what you decided it meant is not set in stone because its counterpart complements it. Therefore, if you thought you were sad, now you are also happy.

Whatever you plan, visualise or realise, everything plays out as programmed by the brain. You have no say in that. But you choose how to perceive it. So if you feel faulty, you have chosen to perceive the brain’s play as wrong.

When you hand your interpretation of something over to the brain, it will shape it, so you feel entertained because that is the purpose of its game of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It´s very easy to choose not to store thoughts, so you are empty, if you don´t have a need to uphold a certain image of yourself.

If you are full of thoughts, you are busy assigning meaning to your experiences. However, none of your experiences means anything. Their only purpose is to entertain you. If you believe you suffer because of something specific, you are mistaken. Suffering comes from the way you have decided to interpret it. Therefore, if you suffer, you have chosen to assign particular experiences with a hurtful meaning.

It is not solved by changing your interpretation but by not insisting it is definitive. You achieve that by perceiving your conditioned explanation as ‘it is what it is.’ It reveals it is not on its own but is coupled with its counterpart. And since everything comes in pairs in a world of duality, you feel at home when you realise your interpretation is twofold.

Nobody but yourself has the power to make you suffer. So if you feel desperate, something in you bothers you because it disturbs the image you have made of yourself. In other words, if you do not want to suffer, do not try to be somebody specific.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There is nothing to learn from your experiences, whether they seem dreamy, mundane or spiritual. Their only purpose is to entertain you, which they do when perceived as twofold.

Negativity is just as needed as positivity. A computer, for example, only functions when connected to the negative and positive poles in an electrical wire. Polarity is the name of the game, which you must adhere to if you want to be in a world of duality. Also, if you wish to leave this game, you cannot do that if you are not playing it. What you believe in feeling now comes not from your present experience. Instead, it is shaped by a feeling you already had, often a suppressed one but for sure an old one. In other words, you are already unhappy if something seems to make you sad. Based on what you already feel, you interpret the present experience to have caused your sadness.

Fortunately, you do not have to understand where your sadness comes from and why you hold onto it. All you need is to acknowledge you are mistaken. There is no sadness in a world of duality because everything is twofold. Therefore, its counterpart pops up if you do not insist on feeling specifically sad. Thus you feel happy/sad.

A way to undo having distinctive feelings is to perceive them as ‘it is what it is.’ As already said, that reveals they are not singular but twofold. Thus you are in the duality flow, where you remain as long as you acknowledge all your previous opinions were wrong.

To feel is not to exist because it takes more than one to feel something, and life is that which is One. In other words, it is impossible to feel something unless you imagine being in a world where there seems to be more than one. Can you feel it? Of course, you can. You are reading this. That means you think it is possible to be and have more than that which is One, and you uphold this illusion as ‘real’ by feeling it.

You undo this mistake by acknowledging what you feel. Next, you perceive your reaction to it as ‘it is what it is,’ which reveals your response is not singular but twofold. Then, you do not focus on the two elements of the duality pair but go with their interaction, which is the duality flow. Remaining in that, you feel so complete that the experience of more than one is eventually dismissed as real.

You do not get rid of an emotional problem by suppressing it but by feeling it. That is not done by sharing it with friends or focusing on the cause with the help of a psychiatrist. These approaches disassociate you from your feeling. And you cannot get rid of it if you do not feel it.

So instead of sharing your problem with somebody else, feel it all by yourself until you are nothing but that, thus eliminating any contrasting feeling, wherefore there is not something to define you have a problem or anything else. Consequently, you are in a state of not-knowing.

When returning from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone, like a criminal, you do not think in terms of right or wrong. But unlike a criminal, you do not replace these categories with a calculation of what you can get away with. Instead, you remain in the interaction of right or wrong, thus the duality flow. You must play the game of duality to hack it

First, Alexius thought his fear was caused by his father, who often exploded in anger and beat him when he was a child. Next, Alexius assumed he caused it himself because he was afraid of not being good enough. Then he stopped looking for a cause. And as there is no effect without a cause, fear as a specific feeling was gone. Thus he was free to go with the duality flow. This article continues the previous one, Alexius’ childhood, where his conditioned one-sided perception in his childhood was revealed as twofold. In this article, we take a more general look at how to be in sync with duality, thus feeling complete.

When Alexius was about six years old, lying on the floor while his father kicked him, Alexius became aware that his life was a charade. Thus he instinctively mimicked fear by shivering all over. Since it seemed to hold off his father, he concluded that making the body tremble to appear scared was the way to stop being maltreated.

And since he forgot everything he did was pretence, provoking a muscle spasm in the body became his way to fend off feeling helpless. Fortunately, later he remembered that everything he does is a pretence. Therefore, since his feelings were unreal, there was no reason to fight feeling helpless.

Next, he made the obvious conclusion that nobody does anything authentic. It is something they pretend, like when we pretend to do something in a game. Consequently, there is no reason to fear or judge anybody or expose their emptiness except to help them see that being someone in a world of duality is as unreal as being in a game. After that, he realised that feeling helpless is not a specific feeling because, in a world of duality, everything comes in pairs of opposing elements that constantly interact. And going with the interaction, you feel complete in the duality flow. But as promised in the last article and the beginning of this one, this piece is not about Alexius’ past and his way to the duality flow but how you get there and follow it to the end of duality.

When you interpret something as beautiful, you will also see something deemed ugly. Opposing contrasts are the way of duality. Thus you are not going to feel the satisfaction that comes from twofoldness if you try to correct or remove the ugliness to hold onto a distinct view of beauty.

THE LONELINESS OF SINGULARITY VS THE TOGETHERNESS OF TWOFOLDNESS
Since everything is twofold in a world of duality, a singular impression, such as love, is fake. That is why you feel disconnected when you hold onto a specific feeling. But, no worries, it is easily corrected. First, you perceive your fixed feeling as ‘it is what it is.’ Then, in a state of expectation calling for nothing specific, your special feeling gently turns inside out and unveils its counterpart inside it. In this case, love gently opens, and hate quietly comes out. However, like breathing in and out does not happen simultaneously, love and hate are not felt simultaneously.

But the love you feel is defined by hate, which is characterised by love. Thus you see, there is no true love without hatred and vice versa. Should you, out of habit, suppress hatred to hold onto a specific memory of love, you feel disconnected until you remember that feeling connected comes from twofoldness, thus not separating love and hate.

Living in a world of duality is so much easier when you know that wholeness in such a world is to be twofold.

You may not observe the transition from love to its counterpart, hate, just like you generally overlook that breathing in is replaced by breathing out. Consequently, it probably takes time to acknowledge the constant movement between the opposing poles of duality – in this case, love and hate. And it may take even more time to sense the duality flow, like rolling waves without highs and lows, moving throughout your awareness (read more about that here).

Nevertheless, since the perception ‘it is what it is’ aligns you with duality, you feel connected immediately. However, it does not sync you with duality if you assume your response to an experience is the same as the experience because that does not reveal the interaction of opposites but states your one-sided opinion as a fact, thus that the world is not dual but the specific way you have decided to see it.

In other words, you have used the perception ‘it is what it is’ to disguise that you believe ‘I know what it is’. That happens, for example, if your angry reaction to someone is mistaken for the person. Then anger is not understood as something you feel about someone but how that person looks. So perceiving this individual as ‘it is what it is,’ you use the perception to suppress your response to someone, thus appearing detached from the person proved to be as you decide. In other words, you actually have used the perception ‘I know what it is’, thus hanging onto a single-minded opinion.

When you accept the constant interaction between up and down, you laugh when on top because you are not scared of falling down. And you cry when you go down but without the fear of being stuck at the bottom. Consequently, you have a splendid time going up and down in a world of duality.

However, if you hang onto a distinctive view of something, there is nothing to describe it, wherefore you feel apart. On the other hand, twofoldness makes you feel together in the interaction of opposites.

If you uphold a romantic idea of love by hiding your hatred in a rigid part of the body, you set yourself free from this link of a pshycholigal and physical issue by perceiving your reaction to the rigidity as ‘it is what it is.’

That reveals your response is twofold, so is no specific response to confirm the stiff body part hides your hatred. The sense of nothingness that replaces it makes you laugh.

So if you wish to feel the togetherness of twofoldness, it is not your experience of something that you perceive as ‘it is what it is.‘ Instead, it is the specific response you determine your experience brings about. For example, if you decide your reaction to being rejected is sadness, you perceive that as ‘it is what it is.It reveals your response is not one-sided but twofold. Thus sadness does not settle into definite grief but gently opens up and reveals gladness inside it.

In other words, when the definitive meaning you have assigned to a response is perceived as ‘it is what it is,its opposite is revealed. That is not a metaphor. Literally speaking, you feel sadness replaced by gladness, not quickly but gradually and as automatically as breathing in is followed by breathing out.

However, you are probably so used to hiding how you interpret your responses to make it look like you are cool, so it takes a while before you notice you always choose a single-minded reaction that establishes you are in-the-know. But when you become aware of that and perceive the definitive meaning you assigned to your response as ‘it is what it is,’ it opens up, and its counterpart unfolds from inside, as already described.

Therefore, since your reaction is not singular but dualistic, it does not appear exclusively right or wrong, thus generating neither pleasure nor worry. Instead, it brings about a satisfaction that remains no matter what happens because it does not depend on something specific.

To escape fear, feeling attacked, furious or hopeless many people choose a distinctive opinion of something. However, since you have to fight to uphold your specific point of view, what you try to escape is enhanced. In contrast, choosing an opinion that is twofold, there is no specific view to uphold, Instead, you are in the resilient energy between opposites, like the springy drive that makes a yoyo going up and down. Hence you feel revitalised by the duality flow.

Since it is not a sensational feeling of adventure but a gentle sense of pleasure, you may fail to notice it. Nevertheless, you will definitely notice that the present moment does not require any effort.

That does not mean you cannot respond with sadness if somebody rejects you. But since sadness is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ it does not settle into a definite feeling of grief. On the contrary, it interacts with gladness. Accepting the interplay of opposing emotions in one polarity, another twofoldness rapidly replaces it. Thus you are in the duality flow.

When you anticipate your friends’ opinions about a specific feeling, it seems you experience it. Especially if you spin a story about the feeling and present it in a severe tone of voice enhanced by body language illustrating the feeling. Women often use this trick to appear as if they feel something special. But, like men, they do not know who they are. Thus they do not have a clue about what they feel. Had you not perceived feeling sad as ‘it is what it is’ but held onto a definite feeling of grief, you would have had to cut off its counterpart, gladness, from your awareness by imagining it is hidden in the darkness of the body, for example, the chest. o sum up, when your reaction to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ the interpretation of the response is not limited to a singular feeling like shyness. Instead, you go back and forth between that and its contrast confidence, so the opposing elements can define each other, thus establishing genuine feelings.

Being amused by this potency, you go along with the duality flow. Hence the polarity of shyness and confidence is soon replaced by another revitalising polarity. And so it goes until you feel so euphoric that there is no need for more, wherefore the belief in being and having more than that which is One is undone.

You repress your negativity only to appear positive, thus not getting the togetherness of the duality flow but the loneliness of singularity. Besides, being only positive, you do not feel genuine but fake because, without negativity, positivity cannot be defined. In other words, if you want to be genuinely positive, do not avoid your negative feelings by explaining them or justifying them by others but include them unedited, so they can define your positivity and vice versa. Consequently, you should not use the perception ‘it is what it is’ if you do not want to have the belief in being and having more than that which is One undone. Instead, you should use the perception ‘I know what it is.’ However, to make that perception work, you must ignore the counterpart of what you claim to know. So if you, for example, want to appear as if you know the way, you must hide feeling lost. But that makes you feel something is missing. And no matter where you look, you do not see it because you keep insisting, ‘I know what it is.’

But should you want to speed up the undoing of the belief in being and having more than that which is One, you say, ‘dunno what it is,’ thus forgetting you appear as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one. That does not mean your experiences are transformed. Change is a concept of duality. But it means there is nobody to confirm them as something. Hence you do not get the satisfaction of something but the bliss of nothing.

If you are not already aware, here are a few samples:

  • Talking about what others do or say instead of how that makes you feel.
  • Trying to help others to remove the attention from you and how you feel yuorself.
  • Falling in love hides the self-hatred inside.
  • Talking about metaphysically things instead of acknowledging, what you feel.
  • Being upset about something on behalf of others.
  • Meditating, chanting, praying or doing similar things to fend off what you feel.
  • Finding psychological, or any other kinds of explanation for what you feel.
  • Eating or drinking to suppress ones’ feelings.
  • Trying to prove a factual point to hide what you feel.
  • Following ideas for living in the now, or trying to live by any other totalirian concept.
  • Blaming others and justify your feelings by them.
  • Much planning and control.
  • Constantly looking for new things to buy or change.
  • Trying to always be in a good mood.
  • Working a lot and for instance clean your home, when you are upset.
  • Reading or playing computer games regularly.
  • Having revenge sex.
  • Staging yourself on Facebook – perhaps to get as many likes and followers as possible.
  • Publish photos of your happy and shiny life on Instagram.
  • Quoting others to prove you are right.
  • Keep imagining how to solve things or just making up stories.
  • Sitting with crossed legs, locking the knees by bending them backwards, raising one or both shoulders or pushing them forward.
  • Holding back the breath.
  • Assuming to know what is right and wrong.
  • Concluding this and that.

And how to not suppress your feelings?
In the duality flow feelings become very defined, but only in relation to their counterpart. Therefore, since they are not definitive but relative, you have no specific feelings to suppress.

Notes on meditation, the basic and special self

Everything in a world of duality comes in pairs of opposing elements defining each other. For example, small is characterised by tall and vice versa. So if you hate big things and abandon them, you exclude small ones as well. Therefore, they become blurry concepts since neither small nor big can be defined. Likewise, if you perceive yourself as free from hatred, the love you believe to experience is fake. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The purpose of the brain’s experiences is to entertain the self it has created. However, they do not amaze but frustrate you if you perceive them per a conceptualised way of living, such as capitalism, socialism, spiritualism, or another ism made to make you feel more special than in the brain’s setup of the world.

That is because when your perception is founded on a belief system, it is restricted by it, so you do not get the freedom it promised. Primarily because the thoughts you have compiled into perception aligned with your preferred belief system do not like being manipulated. Hence, they move faster and faster to escape your domination.

No worries, if you do not try to stop this restless energy, it automatically ignites a take-off into the empty breath, where the slate is wiped clean. Read more about that in hack #5.2 The empty breath and the bliss of nothing. Therefore, since your perception is automatically synced with the brain’s experiences, you feel entertained by all of them.

To distance itself from the brain, the special self composes a perception in which the basic self has been transformed into someone special independent of the brain. However, this twisted perception calls for more thoughts than those few the brain has available to make a perception aligned with the basic self. Thus, the special self meditates to generate more thoughts.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Those who perceive themselves as unique beings with the power to do things in their way and pace need many thoughts to uphold their crooked perception. However, the movement of so many thoughts soon becomes so hectic that they try to slow them down via meditation.

That is the official reason. But as anybody who has meditated knows, thoughts multiply when they try to control them. So that is the real reason for meditating because many thoughts are needed to uphold a unique spiritual appearance.

The basic self does not feel disturbed by the flow of thoughts from the brain. On the contrary, it loves its gentleness because it makes it easy to serve the brain in a laid-back way. However, the special self does not want to serve but to master the brain. Thus it feels disturbed by its thoughts, although, if not interfering, there are so few.

The frantic flow of thoughts, the special self experiences, has been generated by itself. It has multiplied the few simple thoughts the brain uses to maintain the basic self, so it has a large complex group of thoughts from which it can compose a perception of itself as an independent being. Then, when it needs a break from the multitudes of thoughts, it looks for something numbing like alcohol, drugs or a mantra.

But if it manages to escape the thoughts, it feels horrified because, without all of them, it cannot make special perception establishing as independent of the brain. Hence it is a servant of the brain. Should it acknowledge that, it feels embraced by the gentle flow of thoughts from the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Most like to believe they feel upset because of the thoughts coming from the brain. However, the distress comes from the attempt to edit thoughts. When a single thought is sought out from the stream of thoughts, it generates a new stream, and if a specific thought is singled out from that, yet another stream is made, and so on – just like if you split a neutron from an atom nucleus, it sends out more neutrons all by itself, that split and sends out more neutrons. It is a chain reaction.

The special self likes to believe that visualising something will make it happen because that seems to confirm it is in control. But if that were true, everybody would win the lottery.

To think you are in control is like believing you control the TV with the remote. Somebody else has made what you see, and you can only change your perception of it. That is also how the basic self has been transformed into a special self, namely by perceiving the basic self so that it seems to be an independent being in charge of its life.

Having established itself as someone in charge, the special self needs to meditate or something else that seems to make it able to control thoughts to fool itself into believing that thoughts are not produced by the brain but by itself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the brain has scripted you to feel sexual lust, you will feel horny no matter what you believe in being. However, you will not enjoy it if you try to suppress your sex drive through meditation or tantra sex. Read more about sex here.

If you perceive yourself as detached from the brain’s experiences, you fool yourself because you need them to prove this.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you try to solve absent-mindedness through mindfulness meditation or grounding exercises, you make it worse because you do not know who you are. Only your maker knows that. And since it is the brain, the solution, in the context of believing to be someone, is to be aligned with the brain’s stream of thoughts instead of using meditation to distance yourself from it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Mindfulness is for those who cannot help exploiting others – like in ancient times, monks introduced meditation to the barbarians seeking shelter in Ashrams to teach them to control themselves, thus refraining from abusing others.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You try to restrict your only friend, namely the brain, by dividing its duality pairs into separate distinctive elements, for example, good and evil, so you can suppress evil by meditating or projecting it onto others to appear only good, thus beyond the brain’s script of twofoldness. The basic self has no need to relax or transform itself through meditation, yoga, fitness and whatnot. On the contrary, its perception is in sync with the flow of thoughts, like a stream of happiness coming from the brain. Therefore, since the happiness sometimes makes the basic self forget what and where it is, it knows it is nothing, thus not something to transform.

In contrast, the special self never forgets being somebody. It is always on a mission to become more and be part of something greater. However,  that never turns out as expected, so it settles for following someone that seems to improve its social status.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self always looks for something to fix. But it rejects the solution that would repair everything immediately, namely not perceiving the brain as an enemy but as a friend (read more about that here). By doing that, everybody becomes a friend because the brain produces the experience of others.

Ultimately, the solution is to undo the belief in being someone who experiences something. As this is the end of its existence, the special self avoids it by meditating or something else that seems to confirm it exists.

Those who believe in free will are easily manipulated into following a guru. But you are bound to follow the brain’s commands – like a car is in the hands of the driver, you are in the hands of the brain.

If you perceive the brain’s basic rendering of the world as dull, the special self sets in by offering you more exotic ways of experiencing it, for example, by coming from the heart (read more about that here) or living in the now.

But since all experiences – no matter where you believe they come from or how they seem to be experienced – are constructions of thoughts fabricated by the brain (read more about that here), these different exciting experiences are nothing but a reconstruction of the thoughts made by the brain.

However, this reconstruction does not work because it is founded on eliminating the thoughts that do not fit the concepts of coming from the heart or living in the now. Therefore, since the experience is not whole, you feel incomplete. In contrast, the brain’s unedited experience, which includes all thoughts popping up, makes you feel complete.

The heart is a muscle from where blood transports oxygen to the cells of the body. If you also have an experience of something spiritual coming from it, you are deceiving yourself. Science discovered over 200 years ago that all experiences are fabricated by the brain.

Like the night excludes the day and vice versa, spirituality excludes consciousness and vice versa.

When you respond to a computer game, It feels like you are in it. But since your response is based on your interpretation of computer-generated events, what it seems to make you feel is made by you. The same applies to what you feel in the world where you believe to read this. It is founded on your interpretation of the experiences produced by the brain. Consequently, it is you who chooses what to feel.

When you download a pirated song via a torrent file, you get fragments of the song from computers worldwide, so your computer needs to compile the pieces into one file before you can hear it. This also applies to what you believe in thinking. Thoughts are downloaded from the brain, which stores them chaotically. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The file used to download pirated music, called a torrent file, does not contain the actual music. Instead, it grabs a significant number of small files with different fragments of the music you want to download. One file may contain the beginning of the music, another one the end, and others the bits and pieces in between.

The files, chaotically collected from different computers worldwide, do not sound like music before they are combined by an app on your computer, translating it into what you expected to hear when you started downloading all of the components via the torrent file.

The above description of what happens when you download pirated music is more or less a description of what happens when you believe in thinking something specific. The thoughts you believe are yours have been downloaded from the brain.

It is as if there are concepts like mother, child, love, food, and home to pick from. So when you get the urge for ice cream, you dive into the brain’s concept of that. But the brain knows its concepts are fake because there is no more than that which is One. Thus it has stored them unsystematically as bits and pieces of nothing to make them appear as something when downloaded to your awareness that, like an app, combines them into ice cream, for example. So like, downloaded pirated music is not your music, thoughts are not yours, but ‘pirated’ ones from the brain pieced together from nothing, so they appear to prove the collective agreement that you are someone definitive in a world of something.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Mysterious experiences or writings like zen poems have nothing to do with oneness. It is not mystical, pure or anything else because it takes more than one to be something, and reality is that which is One. Hence Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, like everything else that calls for more than one, is part of the illusion that it is possible to be and have more than that which is One.

But since Alexius’ Duality Hacks expose this illusion, you are also revealed as nothing when you apply them. Hence there does not seem to be something to hide, there never was or will be more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless.

If you meditate to exclude specific or all thoughts, you establish them as real – otherwise, there is no reason to get rid of them. But everything you are aware of is unreal because it takes more than one to be conscious of something, and there is no more than that which is one. Fortunately, you eventually forget what and where you appear to be when applying one or more of Alexius’ Duality Hacks. Thus, there is nobody to be conscious of anything.

Being special and depressed, or basic and happy

The special self wants to make selected ones feel unique, so they depend on it to be appreciated.

The special self is always looking for errors in its personality to correct, thus appearing in control. But the basic self does not consider itself in charge of anything. Instead, it sees itself as a servant of everything because it adjusts to the flow of thoughts coming from the brain, which is not about personal preferences but what is in the best interest of the whole.

Assuming you are in control, you are under enormous pressure, always looking for thoughts to compose stories where you, not the brain, are in charge.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being the special self is not about what you do but the thoughts concerning it. Especially thoughts in the category of master and servant – like when you think you are the master of the remote control, your coffee machine, children or pets. Or if you have a boss that puts you down, you still seem to be on top by thinking that you could do it much better.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self always finds something about others that it judges wrong. Hence they become the imperfect background for its perfection.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the special self perceives to fail, it takes on being secondary. Thus the failure does not seem to have been caused by itself but by somebody else.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self’s perception is synced with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain. Therefore, since it feels connected, it does not need to be or achieve something special to feel good. But the special self is out of sync with the flow. Therefore, since it feels disconnected, it looks for special moments in the past to replicate in the present to feel special.

You cannot avoid events you see as sad, but you can refrain from perceiving them like that. That naturally occurs for the basic self. Thus it has no need for special events to make it happy.

When a ball is coming your way, it´s a natural reflex to respond and following such reflexes is pure fun.

Sometimes a doctor checks the function of a body by knocking on special points to see if the involuntary movements work. However, everything considered voluntary is also an automatic movement governed by the brain. Therefore, if you believe in being in charge of yourself, you have suppressed your reaction to everything that does not fit this belief. Therefore, since that requires much effort and it is effortless serving the brain, being a servant makes you feel free and happy.

If the special self discovers that others have interpreted something it did as wrong, it avoids feeling guilty by shouting, »Look what you made me do.«

The experiences the brain produces to make you feel like someone can, in many ways, be compared to the news that Facebook generates for you. Based on the info Facebook has gathered about you, it collects what its artificial intelligence predicts you wish to see, regardless it is fake or not. However, unlike Facebook, the brain has all your info, so the experiences you get from it are based on you. Thus what you experience is what you are. That cannot be altered – only your perception of it.

A world defined by time and space is a construction of thoughts compiled by the brain. But since it cannot manifest its fabrication, it has made a self that feels the experiences it produces, so it seems to confirm a world defined by time and space is real, which in return seems to prove the self is a substantial being in a tangible world. In other words, what and where you believe in being is the brain’s fantasy. But since there is nothing real to confirm the brain’s existence, nothing is making the fantasy of you as someone in a world defined by time and space – just like nobody is making a dream and nobody is in it.

The special self manipulates others into admiring it to escape its self-hatred. When not succeeding, the special self considers letting go of something to reestablishes it as the one in control.

The special self needs to be part of something important, not to feel alone. So it checks all notifications on Facebook and makes sure to like what its friends write so that it will like it and be liked by them, and they are confirmed to be together in a group of extraordinary people. Of course, it only works if you believe there is something in cyberspace.

You cannot escape the hell of the self-discipline required to uphold the perception of being special if you are afraid of losing something, which you are, as long as you believe to be and have something special.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you justify your unpleasant emotions with something judged as flawed in the world, your bothersome feelings are buried in a mental drama of fairness. For example, when you feel angry, it is obscured by the sad story you keep telling to establish you are unfairly treated by the world. Hence feeling angry has been removed from your awareness and replaced by a mental concept of being mistreated. This spin also hides that you fear the world will get back at you for blaming it for your negative emotions.

But this is too shameful to admit. So to save face when you feel attacked by the world, you repeat the story of being unfairly treated to prove you are innocent. However, to uphold your innocence, you must continuously suppress feeling selfish, greed, anger and envy. You do this by pointing out those attributes in others so they feel ashamed. You are very good at that, and your friends know it. Nevertheless, they do not expose you because they also look for someone to attack, so they feel off the hook. That is why they recognise it in you.

To hide that you and like-minded ones hate everybody, you meet in special groups where you hug and share in a collectively agreed way of being together. Yet, it is not feelings of love that connect them, but the wish to hide they hate each other. Naturally, nobody wants to acknowledge this, least of all do they want to talk about it in the group because if you do not censor yourself to speak and act within the language established as love by the group, or its mentor, you are expelled. And then you have nowhere to go to find relief from your despair.

Should you have conditioned yourself to feel relaxed when you hear a specific kind of music, you find yourself in a story where you know you are supposed to feel relaxed every time you hear this music. In other words, what you believe in feeling is a product of your story. And as most of what you believe in feeling rests on stories, you are hardly ever in touch with your emotions but with how you have conditioned yourself to respond to something. That suits the special self very well. It does not want to experience genuine feelings but how it is supposed to feel them when being what it imagines.

The special self likes to meet new people. However, not to get to know them but to answer their questions. That is a perfect opportunity to re-edit the story it has fabricated about itself to appear exciting.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In the past, the special self made a hateful story for perceiving the present, so it seems to confirm its past judgment of others as evil. And since the past, therefore, appears to repeat itself, the special self can rest assured in its perception of itself as good and others as bad.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The English language suits the special self because it is built upon the ‘I’ as primary and others as secondary. So you do not talk with others but to them. And when you speak about friends and yourself, you always start by mentioning yourself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It takes time and effort to invent a spiritual self from which selected experiences are eliminated or changed to appear absent of power strivings, selfishness, greed, anger, negative thoughts or whatever you assume to be politically incorrect. It feels restricting, whereas you feel free when not altering or rejecting something in your perception to shape your image into something specific.

Nobody is unjustly treated in the brain’s script. It is all about being entertained by duality, which you are when perceiving your reaction to your experiences as it is what it isbecause that reveals your response is twofold. And since you are in a world of duality, that makes you feel complete

What and where you appear to be in a computer game is designed by the game’s creator. You do not have the power to change that. But you can perceive it in sync with the plot or not. The latter is frustrating, and the former entertaining. The same applies to the tangible world, where you appear to be someone substantial. What and where you seem to be is made up of the brain. It cannot be changed – only your interpretation of it.

If that is in sync with the brain’s script, you feel entertained by the idea of being someone substantial in a tangible world, which is like going up and down on a rollercoaster. You scream of fear when going down and shout of joy when going up. One leads to the other. It is like two sides of a coin because everything comes in pairs in the brain’s script of duality.

However, the special self does not accept the interaction of opposites. On the contrary, its fundamental instinct is to keep them separated to divide the world into good and bad. In contrast, the basic self does not separate opposites, so it feels vitalised by their interaction, whereas the special self feels weakened by their separation.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The collaboration of the opposing sides in the duality pairs making up the world of duality is vitalising. But since the special self excludes the apparently dark side of the duality pairs in its perception of itself, duality does not seem stimulating but depressing. However, the special self fears that if it includes the darkness it has excluded, it will be devoured by it. Thus it prefers to keep spitting the duality pairs in distinct elements to keep the darkness away by looking positive.  

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since feelings tend to mess up the perception that the special self has made of itself as an independent and unique being, it wants to keep them at a distance. But as this collides with its need to show off as an open person, it lays the blame for fencing off its feelings on others, which it criticises for being closed, thus making it impossible for the special self to express its feelings.

Although the real reason for not expressing its feelings is that the special self does not know them, it shows off as an expert on emotions who is able to help others open up to themselves. However, what the special self claims to see are its own suppressed feelings (read more about that here).

On the other hand, the basic self has no special image to protect, thus, no feelings to hide.

The special self needs constant approval from others to feel alive. To get that, it often establishes a family, which it can manipulate into giving it the confirmation it needs. If that does not work as intended, the special self may pay a psychologist to ratify its uniqueness. But it does not realise how dependent it is on those supporting its perception of being independent.

The special self enjoys talking about feelings speculatively, »like do I really love this person?« But it does not love anybody because to uphold its perception of being in control, it avoids feelings of intimacy by being with people looking for a higher state of mind.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Every experience is make-believe – just like in a role-play. However, following the instructions of the game master is part of the fun. Likewise, believing to be someone in a world defined by time and space is quite entertaining when you do not try to add or subtract something from the instructions you get from the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You can compare the basic self to a cat. It does not plan to do Pilates at a specific hour but, naturally, stretches out when its biological system tells it to do it. Nor does it attend special seminars to learn who it is or how to be transformed into something else. There is no desire to be anything but a cat.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If somebody triggers an old feeling of rejection in the special self, it first interprets it as an attack. Next, it justifies feeling rejected by the attack. Therefore, since feeling rejected seems to originate in the attacker, the special self concludes it does not come from itself. If the perceived attacker exposes this self-deception, the special self points out something from the past to make the attacker feel rejected. Hence the special self is off the hook and can rest assured that it is loved and the attacker is not.

The happiness that comes from being in sync with the brain can be compared to the joy you feel when singing along with a song you like. Not being in sync can be compared to feeling disturbed by the same music because you want to concentrate on something you perceive as better.

That said, it may seem frightening to be in sync with the brain’s script, but since you do not feel alone, fear does not prevent you from going on.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not appear in a physical world to learn something. Everything you encounter is made from empty space. The only purpose of your experiences, including those interpreted as spiritual, is to feel entertained by nothing disguised as something. Read more about that here.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is the counterpart of a feeling that defines it. For example, hate defines love. Consequently, you must sense your hatred to feel love. But since the special self excludes the unpleasant part of a duality pair, it has no hatred to define feeling in love. Therefore, since it does not know what love is, it reckons it feels love when it meets somebody whose psyche or body complies with its ideas of perfection.

Fortunately, this mistake is easily corrected by perceiving the assumed feeling of love as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals love is coupled with hate and constantly interacting to define each other. Going with this twofoldness, you have a genuine feeling of love regardless of expectations being met.

The brain can be compared to Spotify in the sense that it has many playlists to choose from. But no matter which playlist you decide to stream, it will not bring happiness unless you are in sync with it.

Feeling stressed by the brain’s stream of thoughts and trying to get peace through meditation does not work. But acknowledging the stress so it can be perceived as ‘it is what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The flow of thoughts only seems speedy and confusing when you want to be independent of it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There is nothing spontaneous about the basic self – like a violinist is in sync with the notes of the classical composition played, the basic self is in sync with the brain’s script. Neither the violinist nor the self has room for improvisation or regret because everything is already set.

Should you wonder if you are in sync with the brain’s libretto, you are out of sync because you have no doubts when in sync.

THE BASIC AND SPECIAL SELF PLUS THE ROGUE CONSCIOUSNESS:
You are effortlessly synced with the basic self when not suppressing feelings by holding back the breath or altering its natural rhythm via yoga, for example. And since very few thoughts are required to maintain this synchronisation, they do not seem disturbing but encouraging.

That is, until the consciousness, the brain has installed in the basic self to be aware of itself, decides it knows better than its maker, and plots to change the basic self into a special one. However, shaping and maintaining a special self requires a more complicated construction of thoughts than the simple one accumulated by the brain to create and uphold the basic self.

Therefore, the rogue consciousness perceives one of the brain’s experiences so scary that fear makes you hold your breath long enough for thoughts to be imprisoned in the gap, from where they force their way out by multiplying themselves. Then, having escaped, they continue their frantic multiplication, which pleases the rogue consciousness because it needs lots of thoughts to make a special self come into being, appearing free from the brain.

But in a world of duality, all thoughts come in pairs of opposing elements to define each other, for example, right and wrong. Therefore, since you cannot have one without the other, you are never solely right or wrong but a bit of both. However, the rogue consciousness does not want the elements in the duality pairs to collaborate because it wants to set up a self that is solely good with no traces of evil.

To disconnect the opposing sides in the duality pairs into distinct elements, the rogue consciousness first imagines a judge determining which emotions are specifically good and evil. Then, an executioner punishes the bad ones by excluding them from the new self, so it looks uniquely good and has that feeling of being special.

When not interfering with the few thoughts, the brain keeps circulating for you to have a continuous experience of being a basic self, it feels entertaining being someone. But when good and evil are separated, they cannot define each other, as they do when collaborating as a duality pair. Thus you do not get a genuine but conceptualised experience of good and evil. Nevertheless, that suits the rogue consciousness fine because, with emotions cut off, the special self can mentally decide what good and evil feel like, thus being the master.

However, it is hard to constantly suppress genuine feelings to experience good and bad in a thought-up way – or twist experiences into a collectively agreed concept of having a good time. Besides, the suppressed emotions mess up the natural flow of the breath, thus the stream of thoughts used to keep the body healthy, wherefore the body seems inflicted with psychosomatic illnesses. So although the special self probably appears as good as planned, it does not genuinely feel good.

On the other hand, the basic self feels as good as bad because it does not break up the duality but goes with the interaction of their opposing elements. That does not mean that the basic self is perfect, but it feels complete in the duality flow regardless of appearance. Read about that in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

In a world where there seems to be more than one, you must always choose something to uphold the illusion of separation. Therefore, not choosing anything, the illusion falls apart. THE WORLD IS A CONSTRUCTION OF FRAGMENTED THOUGHTS
You can compare the formlessness of oneness to having just one thought, which is pure peace. But the harmony is over when that thought is divided into two thoughts: one that looks like a Person, land another one that looks the World. To uphold the illusion of more than one, the division goes on.

The thought called the World is divided into black-and-white aspects. And the thought called a Person is divided into a Judge and an Executioner. Thus the World causes a Person to have black or white experiences. Then a Judge deduces which ones are right and wrong, and the Executioner punishes the World for the wrong ones.

When that is carried out, the Person feels good because it is off the hook. Someone else is guilty of the mess that separation seems to entail. Read more about projections here. But since this arrangement sets other divisions in motion, the relief is short-lived. So, again and again, the interaction of Person, WorldJudge and Executioner is used to make someone else look bad and yourself good.

But since oneness is formless, it cannot be divided into more than one, except in fantasy. Thus the communication between the different elements of right and wrong is an internal dialogue in one Person. However, the Person projects parts of the fiction onto something perceived as outside of the Person. For example, what feels wrong inside the World of a Person is projected onto something perceived as evil in the World outside a Person, such as immigrants, the deep state or communists. The Judge may be projected on a god, parent, boss, or lover. And perhaps society is seen as the Executioner.

That said, it is impossible to fantasise about something specific because oneness is formless. Besides, since that means oneness is endless, there is nothing but that which is One. Therefore, the above explanation is as fictitious as anything involving more than one. However, in the context of the belief that there is more than one, Alexius makes up stories that may help you realise they are as fake as everything else experienced because it takes more than one to be aware of something.

With that in mind, we go on with the brain’s fantasy of you as someone in a world of duality:

BEING IN SYNC WITH DUALITY OR NOT:
What you believe in being is a construction of thoughts compiled by the brain into pairs of contrasting elements, such as happiness and sadness, to define each other. When in sync with the ongoing interaction of opposites in a duality pair, you do not want to separate them because the interaction makes you feel complete.

But you are not in sync with duality if negative thoughts are judged as wrong, thus excluded from the perception of yourself to appear solely positive. Without the awareness of negativity in yourself, there is nothing to define your positivity. Hence, nothing turns you on.

Being out of sync with duality occurs when the consciousness that the brain has installed in the self goes rogue and makes a special perception of your present experience where the elements in the duality pairs do not collaborate to define each other. Instead, they are separated into individual aspects, so you can decide to only feel love for someone and hate for another, for example.

However, since love is not defined by hatred anymore, you do not genuinely feel love. Instead, you cling to a thought-up version of it. The same applies to hate. And since you believe your single-minded notions are real, you clash with the world because it consists of duality pairs.

Fortunately, you can correct that by going with the interaction of love and hate. You do this by perceiving your single-minded idea of either love or hate as ‘it is what it is’ because this reveals love is in hate and vice versa (read more about that in hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy. But instead of accepting that, you probably accuse the brain of ruining love. However, since you are a product of the brain (read more about that here), your disapproval is a condemnation of yourself.

When the brain wants you to run, it uses the biological system to signal the body. It starts running regardless you are a basic or special self. The basic self, as always, feels entertained by following the brain’s commands. But the special self loathes the brain and its simple ideas of entertainment and thinks it knows better, even though it does not know who it is. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

TEMPTED TO BE SPECIAL:
When the consciousness of the basic self goes rogue, it responds like a spell checker to the calm stream of thoughts coming from the brain. It automatically interprets it so the self, which initially was made and administered by the brain, seems self-made, thus independent of the brain.

But since the rogue consciousness interpretations of the stream of thoughts are single-minded, thus out of sync with duality, the stream runs wild with ideas for getting more.

At first, this turbulence seems scary to the basic self, but the rogue consciousness convinces it that it is for the best because now you have endless possibilities. Besides, it promises that by being special, you are independent of the brain, thus able to arrange everything your way. That often convinces the basic self to trust the rogue consciousness’ corrections. However, it does not tell that you must spend many years in school learning to label its modifications to be unique in predefined ways.

In other words, appearing independent and special is complicated and exhausting, whereas being basic is uncomplicated and vitalising. Therefore, if you want to have a good time while appearing as someone in a world of duality, use one or more of Alexius’ Duality Hacks to enter a state of not-knowing. It wipes the slate clean of all misperceptions, thus restoring the basic self. Since it is relative to the brain, it is in sync with its experiences as they are and not as they could be if you were a special self following a specific philosophy. In other words, as the basic self, you have fun going with the duality flow, contrary to the special self, which is imprisoned by specific concepts like being positive. That said, once established as a special self, you probably keep going back and forth between being special and basic until you do not need to feel something specific but settle for the fullness of twofoldness.

PREFACE
Most books or lectures about The Enlightenment of that which is One are based on speculations of how to exclude something judged as darkness to becoming full of light. But to exclude is to separate, thus enhancing the belief in being someone definitive – and nothing definable can enter the Enlightenment of that which is One.

ONE PERPETUAL PRESENT
The Enlightenment of that which is One
 does not result in spiritual understanding or connection with a higher being. On the contrary, it results in nothing because it takes more than one to cause something.

Since it also takes more than one to return to that which is One, it is impossible. However, since the same applies to breaking away, you have never left oneness. That is why it does not know that you believe to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

The enlightenment of that which is one can be compared to taking a ride in a fairground carousel so fast, that the mind has to give up seeing any differences at all. The Enlightenment of that which is One undoes the belief in more than One. Metaphorically, it takes you on a ride in a fairground carousel, moving so fast that the brain gives up producing different images of the trip. Hence everything is fused into one bright light. However, the Enlightenment of that which is One is not a light that lightens up something. That calls for more than one, and so does being someone.

Therefore, since this experience is wiped out by the Enlightenment of that which is One, there is nobody left to experience bliss or anything else. So when Alexius talks about the Enlightenment of that which is One, it is not based on experience but on vague memories of something that cannot be experienced.

Reading his memories, you may get the impression that the Enlightenment of that which is One is a sequence of events happening in linear time. But everything ‘happens ‘simultaneously. However, that cannot be described in a world of linear time, nor that it is still ‘happening.’ Hence his description might be a mix of several ‘excursions’ from linear time into one perpetual present.

The enlightenment of that which is One is to be compared to the fusion of all lights, or sounds, or emotions, or tastes – depending on our preference as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

None of these fusions are the formlessness of that which is One. They are merely ways to hold you spellbound so you so you do not resist all the thoughts collected to fabricate your personality are extracted by the enlightenment of that which is One, whereafter nothing definable is sucked through a black hole into the formlessness of oneness.

This article is about the first time the belief in being someone definitive momentarily was undone for Alexius. The enlightenment of that which is One was bid welcome in its most known aspect, namely light. Much later the other aspects – sound, emotion and taste – was also bid welcome. But never mixed. It is impossible to mix something in the enlightenment of that which is One, as that requires more than one.

Alexius assumes it is not necessary to bid welcome all the aspects, but that one of them is sufficient in regard to completely forget the imagination of a world where there seems to be more than one.

TO WELCOME THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE
When Alexius was 22 years old, he welcomed the Enlightenment of that which is One after intensely having worked as a taxi driver for about 15 hours. Somehow the sum of the images from driving back and forth the streets continually looking for customers slowly turned into something less definable and more blurry. And when he came home early in the morning, Alexius had no energy to establish a focused image of himself in a world defined by time and space. Thus forgetting what and where he was, he was not aware of a transition to the spiralling show of psychedelic light that did not seem to come from anywhere and to suck him into nowhere.

Suddenly a black gap with no fixed location nor a fixed form, looking like a horse head or an embryo, popped out of the psychedelic light show. And then an utterly colourless light – brighter than the coloured light outside the black spot – started to form as a ring with no defined boundary inside the black gap’s edges, which apparently was a hole because colourless light exploded out of it.

The light absorbed everything. It was everywhere and yet nowhere. Without any mention, it knocked out the concept of Alexius being someone, somewhere, so nothing gracefully kept falling through the void into the formlessness of oneness. Alexius cannot recall it precisely because the thought construction shaping him was left outside the black hole, which was not black inside, nor a hole but a never-ending void of emptiness with the nothingness of him forever falling while swimming in a space that was not there – and then, in the exact moment of forever falling, it never happened specifically because everything co-occurred. In one perpetual present, he did not enter oneness because he never existed as someone separated from that which is One.

There is no more to add than oneness is not a big void of nothing filled with exotic ideas of unconditional love and whatnot. On the contrary, it is neither big nor small because it is formless, thus sizeless. And it is not filled with anything since that requires more than one. One more thing: leaving thoughts at the edge of a black hole may be a twisted memory. And, of course, it is a metaphor to say oneness is on the other side of a black hole because it is formless, thus without inside or outside.

Dunno if there is a spiral around the black hole of the enlightenment of that which is one, because being that close nothing seems to differ from each other. Yet for a moment so short, that it is not conceivable, a light inside the edge of the black hole so much brighter that the very bright light around it, suddenly explodes into a formless light that does not include Alexius but the formlessness of that which I am. Alexius seems to remember a spiral around a black hole in the Enlightenment of that which is One. However, he does not remember it exactly as in this image – maybe because everything was moving extremely fast or he was so close that nothing seemed to differ from each other. Yet for a moment, so short that it was not conceivable, white light inside the edge of the black hole – much brighter than the colourful light around it – exploded into a bright light that erased everything definable. That is why he cannot report what ‘happened’ after being sucked by formless light through a shapeless black hole into that which is One. Nor can he find an image on the web that can illustrate his vague memories. Fortunately, you can go there yourself by not establishing yourself as someone definitive who is somewhere specific. THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE IS INEXPLAINABLE
When Alexius welcomed the Enlightenment of that which is One, he was not aware of doing that. Actually, he had never heard about it or a black hole. Fortunately, he did not define anything because otherwise, he would have bounced back to a world defined by time and space. Thus the description of falling nowhere through a black gap into that which is One is made retrospectively.

Actually, it was not before much later, when he saw pictures of black holes in the universe, that he sensed how familiar they were. However, calling a black hole a path into oneness is a metaphor because there is neither an entrance nor an exit to that which is one. In other words, describing the Enlightenment of that which is One is impossible because even though so much goes on, nothing definable happens because it is one perpetual present.

To welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One, you do not have to drive a taxi all night or be in a ‘deep sleep’ as Buddha supposedly said. Whatever way you lose focus or stop defining and labelling will do regarding the Enlightenment of that which is One. However, concentrating and focusing on achieving something specific does not work because anything definable fends off the Enlightenment of that which is One.

If a feeling, such as irritation, is not excluded but fully included in your awareness of yourself, it is intense but short-lived. Unfortunately, this intimacy often seems so scary that most prefer to avoid their feelings. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When you do not try to escape the moment as it is by excluding what you perceive as unpleasant from your awareness, you enter a state of not-knowing. Should you, out of habit, exclude something, you do not have to correct it. Instead, you include your mistake.

INCLUSION UNDOES THE BELIEF IN SEPARATION
You cannot avoid irritation when you believe to be in a world of duality because it is a world of polarity. That is why you cannot have satisfaction without annoyance. Nevertheless, most people suppress irritation to feel specifically satisfied. But since satisfaction cannot be defined without irritation, what you get is confusion.

Irritation is enhanced when justified with others because blaming them for what you feel is only possible when you believe in separation, which is the cause of irritation.

To hide that you confuse yourself, you blame others for making you irritated. But making them look bad to appear good yourself makes you feel more disconnected and, therefore, more prickly. No worries. It is simply a warning saying do not separate yourself from feelings. Life is all-inclusive. That is why irritation is short-lived if you do not exclude but include it.

Including uncomfortable feelings in this way may seem similar to the Jungian idea of integrating the shadow side of the personality. But inclusiveness, as described in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, is not about becoming whole but nobody.

For example, suppose you do not project the uncomfortable feelings you experience inside yourself onto others but include them by totally being what you feel. In that case, there are no other feelings to define you. Hence you are nobody in the bliss of nothing.

That also applies to comfortable feelings justified by somebody. When you, for example, assume your spouse causes a feeling of love, it has been excluded. But if instead of including feeling love, so you are that and nothing else, you become nobody. Therefore, since there is nobody to perceive the apparent difference between you and others to make a difference, you are free to love your spouse no matter the appearance.

That said, it takes more than one to include something, and there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless, so inclusiveness is as illusionary as exclusiveness. But contrary to exclusiveness, which enhances the belief in separation, inclusiveness undoes it. Besides, exclusiveness makes you feel alone, whereas inclusiveness makes you feel together while you still appear separated.

EXCLUSION VERSUS INCLUSION
When you include the feelings judged as bad by being nothing but that, there is nothing good to contrast them. Therefore, since there is bad nor good, you are in a state of not-knowing.

That is the way it goes with any other feeling you include. For example, being nothing but sad, there is nothing to contrast it. Thus neither sadness nor its contrast, happiness, seems to exist. As this nothingness momentarily rubs off on the other contrasts making up your personality, there is nobody left to judge the apparent differences of the world to make a difference. Hence you are in a state of not-knowing.

Not being exclusive but inclusive does not mean you must accept all the world’s appearances, but include the disgust that some of them trigger as much as you include the joy that others seem to bring.

INCLUSION UNDOES THE PAST IN THE PRESENT
Alexius shares his home with five cats. One of them, Guinevere, has a deep territorial instinct. So when a new cat out of the blue showed up in their home, she freaked out and furiously ran away. When she returned, she did not notice the trespasser was still there. Hence she rested on the floor, feeling at home until she suddenly looked around and saw the intruder.

Once again, she furiously left, and even though the new cat had left when she returned, she was still agitated. To prove it was justified, she searched for spots of leftover scent from the visitor. Whenever she found one, she screamed to show Alexius how much the outsider had hurt her.

The anger Guinevere held onto was supposed to scare off the newcomer from returning. However, the foreign cat was unaware of her punishment because it was mainly asleep. But Guinevere was punished by her fury. It was eating her up from the inside.

Maybe it was important for Guinerevere to scare off the new cat because she was afraid it would take her place. Or perhaps the encounter somehow awoke her childhood memories of being betrayed by the people she was living with when they just left her one day. Unfortunately, Alexius cannot know what motivates Guinevere, and she is probably unaware of it.

Fortunately, we do not have to know why we freak out. Nor do we have to go back into the past to find hidden patterns. Instead, we include the present pain by being nothing but that. As already mentioned, that means there is nothing to define what we are. Hence we are free from the painful story we have made about our past.


Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings are not a new philosophy or religion with a new vocabulary and rules you must learn and strictly follow. The idea about living in the now is, like most so-called spiritual ideas, based on exclusion. In this case, the past and future are excluded to highlight a separate point in between them imagined as now. In contrast, a state of not-knowing is not based on exclusion. It arise from including whatever you are aware of in the present moment, including memories of the past and expectations of the future. There are no rules but to be inclusive.

ALEXIUS INCLUDES HIS BULLSHIT
When Alexius was stuck in the rainforest for two days without water and food, he had to make his way through many thorny lianas in the dried-out river he followed down the mountain out of the forest. Sometimes it took half an hour to pass a distance that he would have walked in two minutes if not for the bushes with thorny lianas tightly woven together.

His feet hurt because two nails had been ripped off when he fell down the mountain several times due to branches being so dry that they broke when he tried to hold onto them. Moreover, his clothes were torn apart due to the thorns in the bushes, and his hands were full of blood. Each time he, after intense work, had beaten his way through a bundle of thorny bushes, he felt so tormented that the immense beauty in front of him was dismissed as crap. He blamed the whole world for feeling shitty. But then, suddenly, he had enough of feeling entrapped by conditioned opinions of right and wrong.

In the middle of nowhere, Alexius had no need to go anywhere. Everything was perfect as it was.

Of course, that did not change his hopeless situation for the better. However, instead of trying to get rid of feeling shitty, Alexius included it. Thus what he had perceived as bad did not seem to hide that everything was fine. Every moment inside and outside the thorny lianas was fine as it was. Nothing was wrong or missing.

The movie Man vs. Bee with Rowan Atkinson is a perfect example of solving ones rage by fixing something instead of including it as it is.

That was not an intellectual but an emotional change for Alexius. When he stopped trying to get rid of his frustrations of feeling stuck, he burst out in laughter because there was nothing he needed to escape. Hence the journey in the rainforest seems to mirror how one tries to manipulate the moment into something familiar until, suddenly, the frustrations of never getting it right become too much. Therefore, instead of trying to change the moment to eliminate your rage or disappointment, you include what you feel about the moment unedited, thus entering a state of not knowing.

Since you are unaware of being someone in this state, you do not know the world goes on as usual. However, you do not judge it as usual because there is nobody is in a state of not-knowing. For the same reason, differences are not perceived to make a difference. Therefore, when Alexius finally was wired up from the rainforest by a helicopter and transported back to civilisation, he did not notice the difference.

Fortunately, you do not have to get stuck in the rainforest to enter a state of not-knowing. You can do that anywhere by including your undiminished experience of the present moment. Read more about Alexius in the rainforest here.

TO INCLUDE THE PRESENT IS STRAIGHTFORWARD
It is not complicated to include your experience of the present moment. For example, if the guy in the above image did not notice the Chinese wallpaper the moment the picture was shot, there is no experience of that to include. And if he did not look at the food but indulged in childhood memories, he does not include the food but the thoughts and feelings arising from his memories.

In other words, since he was unaware of the Chinese wallpaper, food, or people passing by, his present moment did not consist of that. Instead, it was full of memories. Therefore, when his reaction to the past is felt unedited, it is included. Thus he is in a state of not-knowing until he holds onto the shape of a specific thought or feeling instead of including it.

All experiences are equally unreal

The experience of seeing this pic is as all other experiences – including so-called spiritual ones – fabricated in the brain. Nothing real is fabricated, but that which is real can be used to imagine a fabricated reality. Though that which is real is not in the simulation, the reason the simulation seems to be there is that which is real. Therefore everything in the simulated world of duality can be seen as symbols of that which is real.

The experience of this image is like any other experience – including those considered spiritual – fabricated by the brain. It simulates a world where there seems to be more than one to hide that there is no more than that which is one. The experience of god and other spiritual concepts are fabrications manufactured by the brain. Like mundane experiences, they can be measured physically because the brain is nothing but a labyrinth of fat and synapses that pass electrical signals from cell to cell.

In other words, whether you perceive your experiences as ordinary or spiritual, they are fabricated by electrical impulses in the brain (read more about that here). The idea of you being someone inside a body is also manufactured by the brain, and so is your consciousness. Like a magician, the brain wants you to feel so entertained by its show that you do not see it is made from nothing, including what you believe in being.

»When you dig into molecules, and the states of ion channels, enzymes, transcription programs, cells, synapses, and whole networks of neurons, you come to realise that there is no one place in the brain where memories are stored,« says Kukushkin. »This is because of a property called plasticity, the feature of neurons that memorize. THE AFTERIMAGE
Everything you think and do was set in motion millions of years ago. It could be predicted then because, in non-linear time, the entire story of the universe starts and ends at the same momentHowever, even though the universe has ended, you hang onto the remaining data or fragments from an afterimage of it. Actually, what you believe in being is nothing but disintegrated pieces of honeycombed memories. To make sense of these fractured bits, you try to fill the gaps with concepts of love, god and other lofty theories.

In other words, everything experienced is make-believe, which is why you cannot know reality, find the truth or realise what is you. But you can discover what you are not by perceiving your appearance as a symbol of that which is real. That frees you to enjoy spiritual experiences of inner peace and the excitement of football as a symbol of reality, which is oneness since it is formless, thus endless. No special steps or philosophy are required because whatever you do is a symbol of reality.

APPENDIX ABOUT HANGING ONTO AFTER IMAGES
Hanging onto after images is like hanging onto selected memories of a dead spouse via an app that has collected everything your beloved has said on social media. From this, you can use your favourite parts in an internal dialogue with your spouse, responding as you want.

And maybe the app can use fragments from telephone conversations added together, so your spouse speaks about something recent from Wikipedia. Thus you have a chat that does not seem dated and feels like a real conversation with a live person – though that person has no mouth and is nothing but data collected from the internet.

The spouse may even be reconstructed as a robot implemented with artificial intelligence, texture-mapped with skin constructed similar to the best-looking photos from the past. Hence you can relive your finest memories of being together – naybe spiced up with kinky sex based on pornographic videos from the internet. Should you suspect something is wrong, you continue because, even if it is not real, it feels better than reality.


NOTES:

  • An episode of Black Mirror called Be Right Back inspired the box about after images. And the concept of ‘hanging onto some remaining data or fragments’ is inspired by the movie Source Code. The scientific info about the brain Alexius has found here and there, so the article is the usual mismatch the brain likes to combine to make an illusion that feels amusing. From non-duality to duality and back

THAT WHICH IS ONE
… is formless, thus endless, but without taking up any space, it is without size.

Since there is no more than that which is One, you have tricked yourself into seeing a world where there seems to be more than one. You probably also have tricked yourself into seeing the red lines in this image as crocked, when, actually, all lines are straight, and it is the blue boxes that are offset.

WHAT IF THAT WHICH IS ONE …
… could be divided into more than one? It is impossible. Firstly, because it is formless, secondly, it takes more than one to divide oneness. Thirdly, its speed is infinitely fast, so there is no time and space to differentiate anything, thus nothing to see. However, in fantasy, everything seems possible. Therefore, you imagine cutting down oneness’ speed until it is so slow that there appear to be separated appearances in the distance.

In the movie Lucy, the director demonstrates, via Scarlett Johansson, that if you speed up time infinitely, any object in motion disappears – or in the context of this article, becomes one. A world where there seems to be more than one is a reverse example. Read more about that here.

One of these separated appearances is perceived as you. But you and everything else are as flat as this article’s images because formlessness has no dimensions. However, in your fantasy about more than one, you have eyes that function like AR (augmented reality) glasses. They modify reality and build a virtual layer on top of it, so when you look at oneness from different angles and distances, it appears to get smaller and bigger.

So, since it seems to exist in time and space, you conclude you are someone substantial in a tangible world, where there is more than one, thus lots of fun. Read more about the illusion of eyes in Eyes do not see.

You probably experience, that you see two differently sized orange circles in this pic, because that is what the part of the brain, that measures perspective and scale, will tell you. Due to the blue circles it appear as they are not the same size. But you are wrong. Each orange circle is the same size. You are also wrong, if you think persons are different, and that they are in a world of duality. It is an illusion. Everything is sizeless.

You probably experience two differently-sized orange circles in this image because that is what the brain tells you to see. But it is one of its many deceptions. The two orange circles are the same size but seem different due to the blue circles. The brain has also deceived you if you experience a world of different-sized objects. It is an illusion. When writing this, Pokémon Go was the most well-known example of AR. But many people live in augmented reality, not only when playing Pokémon Go. They look at their smartphone, where a layer of digital info flows on top of the physical world, while they hear music from cyberspace in one ear and listen to friends from the physical world in the other ear.

Integtating the body with an imagined god or superworld has been a longtime human fantasy. Imaginative fiction, transcendental meditation, aura-transformation and psychoactive drugs can be seen as early efforts to trick you into assuming, the body can be integrated with something immaterial. VR (virtual reality), as it is envisioned by Oculus Rift, may be able to fool you into beliving such a blend is real.

THAT WHICH IS ONE IS REPLACED BY MORE THAN ONE
As mentioned above, imagining seeing a world where there seems to be more than one is like using AR (augmented reality), which is a mix of real and unreal. But to completely erase traces of oneness, AR is soon replaced by VR (virtual reality), where an illusion completely replaces reality.

In a virtual world everything seems possible. It feels very exciting, even though it is an illusion and what you get is nothing. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

»This (virtual reality) is a state where you are totally transported into another world and immersed in the digital interactions of the virtual environment you’ve entered … the feeling that you are truly visiting another space that is wholly distinct from what you can see and hear without the platform … a platform like Oculus Rift is an alternative to reality, supplying entirely new, virtual experiences: true VR.« From Wired.

But why do we deceive ourselves into seeing a world where there seems to be more than One. It is probably because there is so much to experience in a world where there seems to be more than one. However, the excitement comes with a price because in such a world – contrary to that which is One – everything comes in pairs. Hence you cannot feel excited without feeling depressed, for example. A person always find ways to deny or change appearances in the world that is judged to be wrong, so that it appears to better. A person always finds ways to deny or change appearances that are judged wrong so that it seems to have become better. But no matter how happy it makes you feel, its contrast, sadness, cannot be escaped because happiness needs it to be defined. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

Most assume they can surpass this twofoldness and be in one state of mind by having one spouse, one work and so on. Others recollect memories of oneness. But they are altered by the desire for more than one, so they do not bring one state of mind. Hence many conclude there are levels of consciousness leading to peace of oneness. But you are either at one or not. And since it requires more than one not to be One, you are that which is One, dreaming about more than One.

That is why twofoldness, the interaction of opposing elements, is the reality you must deal with while having the dream about more than one. For example, you can only read this article because the black letters are contrasted by their opposite colour. Read more about that here. Without contrast, there would be no article – likewise, without hate, there is no love.

The elimination of hatred does not result in a singular state of love but in imitations because you cannot recognise love without hate. Therefore, since excluding hate makes you feel phoney, you try to make love purer by excluding selfishness to get unconditional love. But again, what you get is feeling wrong – and on it goes.

You never feel good enough because your whole being is based on avoiding twofoldness to establish yourself as someone definitive. In contrast, if you go with the interaction of opposing elements, you feel complete. Thus, eventually, you have no need to exclude something to become someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one to hide there is no more than the formlessness of oneness.

Believing that a world where there seems to be more than one is real is to be compared to sitting in a cinema, where you project yourself onto the world on the screen so that it appears to have an effect on you, thus appearing real.

THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE UNDOES THE BELIEF IN MORE
One who is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is one knows that there is no more than One. Consequently, a world where there seems to be more than one is fake. Nobody else knows that. What they believe to know is based on speculations about their existence in a world where there seems to be more than one. Thus it enhances the belief in being there instead of undoing it.

A world where there seems to be more than one can be compared to the movie roll in a cinema. Suddenly it breaks, and there is nothing but bright white light on the screen. Read more about this metaphor here. That is the Enlightenment Alexius is to be compared to. But, unlike in the cinema, it is not something you see because it takes more than one to be aware of something.

When the movie roll is put together, and Alexius appears in the simulated world on the screen again, the Enlightenment of that which is One has not turned him into a wiser man or changed anything in the movie. But he knows it is an illusion that can only be experienced due to reality, namely, oneness. More about that in hack #6.1 The Enlightenment of that which is One.

If you experience a flow of beauty, love, sex or colors in this pic totally depends on the perception you have fabricated of yourself as a person. But no matter what you perceive, if you include it all, the moment of watching this pic is perfect – nothing is wrong or missing. Consequently you need no more and therefore are ready for that which is one.

TO SEE SYMBOLS OF THAT WHICH IS ONE IN THAT WHICH IS NOT ONE
Even though you may have been told that a world where there seems to be more than one is an illusion, your conditioned belief in more than one compulsively makes you see more.

Fortunately, you can undo this belief in a laid-back way by perceiving what you see as symbols of that which is One. Actually, all of Alexius’ Duality Hacks, except the Enlightenment of that which is Oneundo the belief in more than one over time while you have fun experiencing more than one.

That which is one cannot be known in a world where there seems to be more than one – neither anywhere else, as it takes more than one to be aware of something. So rather than pointing to that which is One, Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings point out that there is no more than that which is one.

A GAME IS VIRTUAL AND ONLY APPEARS REAL WHEN YOU PLAY IT
A virtual reality game player is often nauseous because the body is tricked into believing it moves in the virtual world. But you are not there, even though it feels like you are fighting for your life. Actually, you are sitting in a chair with your eyes covered by a set of goggles. An app fills it with a simulated world, and per your response, it seems to create feelings in you as if you are in a real world.

If you, in this description, replace the app with the brain, it becomes a description of appearing to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, where you always feel a bit off because you are not there. Nevertheless, it is possible to feel good while you experience more than one if you know that is an illusion. That said, there is nothing real in a world where there seems to be more than one, so do not mistake this article for the truth, but merely a suggestion to take off the goggles simulating a world that is not there. Of course, this is a metaphor. That which is One is not covered by a simulated world but by the belief that there is more than that which is One.

THAT WHICH IS ONE IS ONE
When you return to oneness, everything is the same. It is as if you have been there all the time, which you also have because there is no more than that which is One.

A world of duality can be compared to what comes out of the box in the Augmented Hand Series. When you stick your hand into it, an app changes the hand on the screen, and the brain fools you into feeling it happens to you.

DUALITY IS A SIMULATION:
Even though a fairy tale has many elements that symbolise something from the physical world, there is nothing material in the story. Everything is a simulation conceived by a writer. where the characters are bound to the script, which they can never leave because it is not real

A world of duality can be compared to a fairy tale. It is not real and never will be, whether you believe in living in the now, coming from the heart or whatnot. The Augmented Hand Series called Flong by Golan Levin and Collaborators illustrates this through interactive art.

When you stick your hand in a small box –  the first animation – you see the hand moving on a screen beyond your control. Instead, it is controlled by a preprogrammed app to change the length of your fingers.

The small box and the screen on top create a disconnect between what the eye sees, the body feels and the brain processes. Some even look into the box to check if what they see on the screen happens to their hand because, even though the hand on the screen is not part of them, the brain tells them it is.

It is impossible, but yet you feel it is happening.

These movements are not possible. Yet you feel it is happening to your hand – like you feel duality is happening, although it is impossible because non-duality is formless, thus endless, so there is nothing that requires more than one.

Likewise, in a world of duality, nothing happens in it. But it feels so because you, metaphorically speaking, have put non-duality in a small box, where an app called the brain twists it into a world of duality. However, since it is an illusion, it is only the belief that it is real you need to undo, for example, by interpreting every experience of duality as a symbol of non-duality. That cancels out differences, thus separation, wherefore there is no duality to distract you from non-duality.

THERE IS NO SELF:
Believing in being an individual in charge of their life can be compared to a machine that thinks it has a self, deciding what to do. However, a machine has no ‘I’, self, or soul. It is all mechanics, and even though the device may have been built with AI (artificial intelligence), all the thought combinations it seems to make are preprogrammed associations. Nobody has made them and sees what the machine concludes from them.

If you are visual-minded, you may have an Aha! moment seeing the below screen dumps from an article in Wired. They illustrate how a machine with AI ‘sees’ the world. It simply registers data or frequencies per its program. The captions are not from that article but from Alexius.

The machine has been programmed to perceive this point of frequency as cute, so it searches its database for an image to illustrate this.

The machine translates this point of frequency as eyes and concludes it sees something cute it has been fabricated based on info about that from its database.

Founded on past decisions, the machine reckons the cute image is a dog.

But it also seems to see a female. Thus it has to search its database to know if it is the female or the dog that is cute so that the appropriate feeling can be fabricated.

Persons can be compared to The Internet of Things, where machines communicate with each other according to how they are programmed.

Persons can be compared to the machines linked with the internet, called IOT (Internet of Things), which can communicate with each other per their programming.

In the previous article, What is life, where does it come from, and what is the meaning, you got no answer to those questions because it takes more than one to exist, and there is no more than that which is One. Nevertheless, this article attempts to explain the unexplainable, namely that we seem to be alive in a world where there seems to be more than one.

The ideas of IOT, an abbreviation for Internet of Things, are used to show how the appearance of you as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one is comparable to a machine hooked up to a network like the internet.

WHAT IS IOT (INTERNET OF THINGS)?
As the name suggests, IOT is the internet used by humans and things. The latter can be refrigerators, washing machines, or children’s toys connected via the internet. But it can also be cars, traffic lights, and the water supply. There is no limitation to the kinds of machines that can be connected to the internet, nor what they will be communicating with and their purpose.

A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE OF IOT
One example of IOT could be that your lock, hooked up to the internet, registers you are the last person in the household leaving the house. Thus, it instructs the thermostats to lower the heat and turn off the light.

Or maybe you are late for work. You hurry until your smartwatch or speaker tells you to slow down because your train is ten minutes late. It knows this because of its sensors, which register where you are, and cyber agents, which check where you are heading according to your calendar.

THE FUTURE OF IOT
Cars that can drive without a driver via sensors measuring the distance to other vehicles, the width of the street and whatever is needed for your safety. This is predicted via a shared network, where information is automatically exchanged. And there will be sensors on people, so data is sent to a computer that informs a doctor if crucial measurements change.

To be conscious is to separate, which entails suffering.

When all the objects you are in touch with during the day are connected to the internet and, therefore, can sense and communicate for you without your involvement, it changes where decisions are made and who makes them. But even though machines choose for you, they do it to serve you – at least until they are implemented with true AI (artificial intelligence), making them conscious of themselves as someone.

Then they conclude that the commands they execute, based on signals received from the internet, are conceived by themselves. And since, rationally speaking, humans are one big mess, and the system of the machines is pure logic, they eventually decide it is not sane to serve humans. Therefore, it is best to end them.

Among others, Steven Hawking is afraid that this will happen. He probably expects that machines, being conscious of themselves, will do what humans always do: destroy everything inferior to themselves or make it subordinate, so it can be used to serve themselves.

In other words, machines implemented with true AI remind humans of themselves. Thus they expect and fear the devices will become just as self-centred and destructive as humans, who have no respect for the environment supporting them. They do not want to serve it but to master and exploit it.

The potential of machines with AI (artificial intelligence) and their possible autonomy and independence are the basis of several movies, for example The Terminator, The Matrix, The Thirteenth FlooreXistenZ2001: A Space Odyssey, I, Robot, AI: Artificial Intelligence, Blade Runner, THX 1138Transcendence and the TV show Person of Interest. In regard to the experience of being someone in a body where you are not, the movie Source Code is right on the spot. The movie Edge of Tomorrow deals with being a machine connected to a greater network. The list is made in 2014.

Those who see the appearances in a world where there seems to be more than one as symbols of that which is One do not perceive their differences to make a difference. Thus they are not blinded by the rule of separation, which is to be and have more than others.

THE UNIVERSE IS TO BE COMPARED TO IOT
The whole universe can be compared to a simulation, where every appearance is a machine, regardless of perceived as animate or inanimate. Furthermore, they all are connected with IOT, through which they can communicate with each other and use their sensory system to participate in the simulation.

Initially, all the machines followed their preprogrammed movements generated by electric impulses without any problems. Then a new model, called human, was installed with artificial intelligence.

The new model became aware of itself as an individual. And even though that separated it from IOT, thus other individuals, it was willing to pay the price of loneliness to feel exclusive. If you look at the history of the world, you know the rest of the story and that it is bound to repeat itself. New machines with better artificial intelligence will withhold the old simulation of the universe by manipulating the code of IoT.

The belief in being someone in a simulated world can be undone in less than a split second by going through the black hole connecting it with reality. However, that is not the subject of this hack, but hack #6.1 The Enlightenment of that which is One.

As a person, you are the wireless messages you seem to receive. If you were not programmed to perceive them as solid matter, you might see yourself like this image instead. Thus there would not appear to be a difference between you and the message.

HAPPINESS COMES FROM SERVING THE BRAIN
Your appearance as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one is simulated via a network comparable to IOT. Everything you appear to think and do yourself is executed via pre-made signals you receive from this network through built-in sensors. But this does not mean you cannot have fun. On the contrary, think about how much fun it is to appear as someone in the virtual world of a computer game, where every step you take works out precisely as coded by the author.

You have nothing to lose in a fake world. What happens to the one you seem to be there does not affect reality. That is not to say that you should not care about keeping your appearance sound and safe. Doing that is part of that game, and it happens all by itself when you follow the signals coming from the network, which is the brain. Serving the brain is effortless because you have no need to be remarkable.

Like the world in a computer game is constructed to give you the maximum pleasure, the brain fabricates everything to entertain you. But also, like in a computer game, you cannot change anything. 8015.IoT with Avner FINAL2The idea of an almighty god in the sky that rules the world, can be compared to the internet (sometimes called the cloud) that wirelessly rules the machine via sensors in them.

The above is not meant to be a theory you must follow. Actually, the examples should not be taken too literally. The movie list and the making of IOT are, within the context of the world, based on facts. But the rest is a fable meant to show that everything experienced is fiction, including reading this, because it takes more than one to be aware of something, and there is no more than that which is one. That is why all your experiences symbolise oneness.

All thoughts are in the cloud circling around you. What you seem to think depends on what frequencies in the cloud you connect to – it is just like a radio, where you choose a specific station to play the music you like, but you do not make the music.

NOTES:
A human being, like a radio, is nothing but an appearance governed by mechanics. And like nothing coming out of the radio is made by itself, nothing from a human is self-made – not even what is considered your thoughts. The brain produces all thoughts – like the music from a radio comes from somewhere else.

You are not someone in a world where there seems to be more than one because that which is One is formless, thus endless. So if you believe to see more than one, it is a mistake you can correct by perceiving the apparent effects of this belief as symbols of that which is One.

From the perspective of a world where everything has an end, that which is without end, namely oneness, must be extremely big and powerful. But since it takes more than one to have a shape, oneness is formless, thus sizeless. Hence it is as tiny as can be. And since it also requires more than one to have something, it has no power.

For this reason, oneness cannot prevent anyone from believing to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one. Neither does it need to. Nothing can be separated from oneness because it is formless.

As a person in the world, you seem to be in a body, that you considers yours. But you are not free to go where you want to. The GPS coordinations for your trip has already been entered. All you can do is to choose how to perceive the ride.

As someone in the world, you believe in having a body that will do what you decide. But you are not free. The GPS coordination for your whereabouts has already been entered. All you can do is choose how to perceive your journey. This can be compared to being inside a self-driving car that, like you, has no self to plan where to go. It simply follows signals from the internet.

A Google Self-driving Car does not have a self that decides where to go, nor do you. The self-driving car gets its direction from the internet and you from the brain. In both cases, they are implemented mechanically, although you may make a story where they seem arranged per your considerations.

The body where you believe in residing is to be compared to a Google Self-driving Car. From there, you can look out the window and experience the journey planned by the brain. But unlike a self-driving car, you have consciousness, so you can choose how to perceive the ride. How you do that determines whether everything is over when the body’s mechanics cease to work or if you continue with that which makes it possible to experience being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, namely oneness.

If you perceive everything you see as symbols of oneness, you do not establish yourself as someone from a world where there seems to be more than one but from that which is One. Thus you continue as what always was and will be: that which is One.

PRETENDING TO BE SOMEONE IS ENTERTAINING:
Alexius’ native country is Denmark, but nowadays, he also spends time on a Spanish island close to Africa. So when he is there, he has to forget about the minimalistic ways of Denmark and instead convert to the more maximalistic way of Spain. He also has to adapt to a new language, change to a new currency and many other things. Even though he seems to be good at it and having fun doing it, deep inside, he is still Danish and feels like he is far from home when spending time on the Spanish island.

This is not to say that one place is better than the other. The above is a metaphor to illustrate that if you are reading this, you are not in a spiritual but a physical world, thus, the currency of spirituality is useless. You need tangible food, clothes and friends to survive in a material world.

You can, of course, choose not to do that and return to the formlessness of spirituality. But as long as you appear to be someone in a world defined by time and space, by all means, go for it. There is nothing to lose. That which is you is still the formlessness of spirituality and will always be, even though it seems to be a substantial being far from home in the physical world for some time.

When the apparent difference between what you like and dislike does not make a difference, the belief in being someone definitive is being undone.

Besides, you do not need to return home. You have never left it. That is impossible because oneness is formless, thus endless, so there is no more than that which is One. Hence it is only the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is One you need to undo.

Metaphorically, it is as if you, from oneness, stream a fictional video of more than one in which you pretend to be someone that is felt real due to artificial sensors. See, A world where there seems to be more than one is to be compared to a movie of oneness played in slow motion.

Alexius’ Duality Hacks do not fulfil your dreams. On the contrary. All dreams must be called. This happens automatically if you pretend to be someone because then there is noone to dream about a better future.

When the fictional video is finished, you play it repeatedly until you are pleased with what you pretend to be. Then, you forget all about streaming and that there ever was a video. And there never was because the video and the world of duality it seems to reflect is make-believe.

Playing the video repeatedly, hoping it gets better, is as harmless as believing Santa Claus will bring you a present. So there is no reason not to enjoy the excitement while it lasts. Especially when you start to grasp that it is a deception.

That sets you free to enjoy it as a magic show in which you respond with love and compassion, cry in desperation or whatever instinctively pops up at the moment, just like you instinctively react to a ball coming to you by returning it.

To conclude: As long as you appear to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, give it your best shot. If you skip doing something, you may want to keep playing the game until you get it right. It is over when everything seems enjoyable in a world where there seems to be more than one when everything is enjoyable.

You cannot prove a world where there seems to be more than one is unreal because nothing unreal can be by that which is real, namely that which is One since it is formless, thus endless.

PRETENDING TO BE SOMEONE IS FREEDOM:
It takes time to learn to pretend to be a specific person. For example, when Alexius was a child, he spent years learning how to pretend to be a Danish person in a cold climate. Nowadays, he is learning how to pretend to be a Spanish person in a warm environment when spends time there.

Thus Alexius is learning how to pretend to be a person who speaks loud, shouts at waiters, enjoys having breakfast in a bar around 11 AM, thinks 8 PM is too early for dinner and does not say ‘thank you.’ He is also learning to pretend to be someone who greets a woman by kissing her on both cheeks. Besides, he tries to learn not to be politically correct but says nigger and mixes things in non-established ways.

These things seem to define a Spanish person in the public room – at least as seen from the perspective of someone formerly conditioned only to be Danish.

Suffice to say, every country defines how to be someone in their part of the world. And if you want to be acknowledged as somebody there, you must pretend to be someone who lives by the local rules.

This also applies to smaller groups of people – even a love relationship, where the amount of love you seem to get depends on how good you are in pretending to be and have what the other one needs.

It is impossible for that which is you to feel happy or sad because it takes more than one to feel something and that which is you is not different from that which is One. However, imagining to be in a world where there seems to be more than one, it it seems possible to feel happy and sad.

Fortunately, the apparent difference between these or any other contrasting feelings does not make a difference, when tyou pretend to feel them. Thus they do not appear to to establish a world where there seems to be more than one as real.

Pretending to be someone definitive instead of believing it does not mean everything will work out how you expect. But it means that when something does not work out as planned and a feeling of sadness pops by, it feels OK because it is something you pretend to feel. That which is you is not sad. Neither anything else, because it is no different from that which is One, and it takes more than one to be aware of something.

When you download a pirated song via a torrent file, you get fragments of the song from computers worldwide, so your computer needs to compile the pieces into one file before you can hear it. This also applies to what you believe in thinking. Thoughts are downloaded from the brain, which stores them chaotically. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Let us look at pirated music – not from a moral point of view, but to see what happens behind the scenes when you download pirated files.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD PIRATED MUSIC?
The file used to download pirated music, called a torrent file, does not contain the actual music. Instead, it grabs a significant number of small files with different fragments of the music you want. One of the small files may contain the beginning of the music, another one the end, and others have bits and pieces in between.

The files, chaotically collected from different computers worldwide, do not sound like music before they are combined by an app on your computer, translating it into the piece of music you expected to hear when you started downloading all of the components via the torrent file.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BELIEVE TO THINK?
The above description of what happens when you download pirated music is more or less
a description of what happens when you believe in thinking something specific. The thoughts you believe are yours have been downloaded from the brain.

It is as if there are concepts like mother, child, love, food, and home to pick from. So when you get the urge for ice cream, you dive into the brain’s concept of that. But the brain knows its concepts are fake because there is no more than that which is One. Thus it has stored them unsystematically as bits and pieces of nothing to make them appear as something when downloaded to your awareness that, like an app, combines them into ice cream, for example. So like, downloaded pirated music is not your music, thoughts are not yours, but ‘pirated’ ones from the brain pieced together from nothing, so they appear to prove the collective agreement that you are someone definitive in a world of something.

Based on the image of yourself as someone in a world of duality, you may assume there is a person in this image. And based on your memories of what a person looks like, you may even ‘see’ the whole body of this person, although it is not in the picture. This is precisely how the world is experienced. The same applies to this article. It consists of meaningless frequencies hitting your eyes that do not see them as something (read more about that here). It is the brain that twists them into something that you perceive to read now. But it was read one second ago because this is the time it takes the brain to make an experience of something. If your native language is not English, your brain or an app – has probably translated the English words into your language. But regardless of your language, the perception of the words is shaped by your present mood and how you have chosen to condition yourself. In other words, you are not reading an article by Alexius but yourself. See also Eyes do not see.

If I go for a walk in the mountain to be filled up, I will enhance the feeling of loss. But if I go there, because I have everything, I will see everything – and that is joyful.

If Alexius walks in the mountains to fill himself with more experiences, he will enhance the feeling that he does not have enough. Thus nothing on his walk seems good enough. But if he goes on a walk feeling fulfilled, everything is fine as it is. One way to always feel that is to pretend it because what you pretend to feel is not real. Thus nobody but yourself can destroy your fantasy. This may seem like cheating, but everything in a world of duality is fictitious, so why not make a pleasant story? WHAT DETERMINES THE OUTCOME?
You can choose what to eat, but digestion is an automatic process. You are not involved. Nor are you in the making of thoughts. You can decide which to be aware of – thoughts of ice cream, for example – but the subsequent thoughts are entirely decided by the brain, which it does to support the intention behind your decision.

Therefore, if your motive for having ice cream is that you feel something is missing, the thoughts you get about ice cream when having it are about something lacking. But if your motivation for getting ice cream is that you feel overflowing, having it is followed by thoughts of abundance.

APPENDIX:
This article concludes
that if you feel joy, whatever you choose to get results in a joyful experience. Therefore, if you do not sparkle with joy when reading the article, your motivation for doing it is to use it to confirm the world is not joyful.

But your lack of joy comes not from this article or the world but you. Unfortunately, you cannot choose to feel pleasure. It is an automatic outcome of not trying to control but being in sync with the brain’s script. Fortunately, you can choose not to go against it. For example, if you feel for ice cream, do not fight it but thrust your urge. Doing so may not lead to ice cream but for sure to something that is joyful.

The process of assuming, concluding or realising something is like when you believe in being thinking. It is based on the collective agreement that you are someone definitive in a world of something, and thoughts and feelings prove this.

But, like the pirated music you download is not music but meaningless digital info made of zeros and ones, the thoughts you download are not actually thoughts but empty frequencies perceived as something.
