In the limited world of the senses, or everywhere and nowhere

Updated April 7, 2023

No matter how many beautiful photos you get of the mountain in the background, they have nothing to do with its complete look. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In a world defined by time and space, everybody believes in magic. A child, for example, believes Christmas presents come from Santa Claus, although it does not seem realistic. And grown-ups believe that the more they become and get materially or spiritually, the happier they become.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The outward-facing senses create such expressive images that we choose to believe in a world where everything is separated by time and space. However, the more the outward-facing senses are turned off, the more the abstractness of the inward-facing senses takes over. Thus, you have glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One while still aware of the world of the outward-facing senses

Experiencing these glimpses can be compared to seeing a movie trailer. But entering the Enlightenment of that which is One cannot be compared to attending the whole movie because that is an experience, and the Enlightenment of that which is One cannot be experienced since all the senses must be turned off to enter it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you are aware of something, although ethereal, you are not in the Enlightenment of that which is One but have glimpses of it through the inward-facing senses. Many mistakes this for being enlightened, thus imagining they have the power to fuse heaven and earth and create a better world.

So they put together a new philosophy based on their interpretation of their glimpses, mixed with speculative ideas about spirituality and ancient meditation traditions.

For example, they may encourage you not to be conditioned so you can be in the now. But the experience of that or anything else is based on the conditioned belief that you are someone in a world defined by time and space. However, according to science, this world is an empty space perceived as something. Therefore, it is not a fact but an idea that you are someone definitive, which you blindly follow to establish your existence in a world defined by time and space, thus disguising the formlessness of oneness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

This photo of the same mountain in the first photo is shot from another level. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The tension from consistently doing something to appear as someone makes you feel definite. But the more you feel tangible, the more the Enlightenment of that which is One is fenced out.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The more you think you know about the Enlightenment of that which is One, the more you block it out. That is why the purpose of Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings is not to help you understand but to help you unlearn what you believe in knowing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Metaphorically, the Enlightenment of that which is One is a moment that starts in a dream of something. Yet, at the same moment, the dream is over. But since you were not in the dream, you are not awakened with a new consciousness. On the contrary, there is no awareness of you ever having been someone in a world where there seems to be more than one. There is just one bright light – so intense that there is nothing to see, thus nothing to be. Hence what has been stripped free of the belief in something is sucked through a black gap into the formlessness of oneness.

That is why those who talk about their exciting experiences of Enlightenment have not, as nobody, been sucked through a black hole into the formlessness of oneness. Instead, they held onto their belief in being somebody to fence off the Enlightenment of that which is One, thus only having glimpses of it, which often is used to promote themselves as someone who has seen a vast empty space full of pure love, consciousness, bliss, or something else, that makes them appear to have something better than others. Having something, though, has nothing to do with the Enlightenment of that which is One because it takes more than one to have anything.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

This is a photo of the same mountain as in the other pictures in this article. Again we see that we can have many different glimpses of it and that they are all coloured by the one having the glimpses. However, the Enlightenment of that which is One is not coloured by the one experiencing. It is impossible to do that since it requires more than one. In other words, there is nothing personal about the Enlightenment of that which is One. Yet, describing is like everything else, where more than one seems involved, coloured by the personality of the describer as well as by the one interpreting it. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Maybe Mozart’s inspiration to compose music came from musical glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. That is not to say his music sounds like ethereal harmonies, but its flow resembles the effortless elegance and beauty of celestial harmonies. However, that does not apply when Mozart overrides the natural flow to reach a dramatic peak. There is no drama in ethereal harmonies because they accompany one perpetual present, which has no beginning and end, thus no drama.

The ethereal harmonies may also inspire the electronic music that seems without a beginning, achieved through glitches, other sonic artefacts, slowed-played steel guitar, chimes and bells, and analogue or analogue or synth sounds mixed with piano loops. However, these effects result in a harder edge and a less transparent sound than the ethereal harmonies, which have a crystal clear but transparent sound with no sonic artefacts needed to produce spiciness. Actually, ethereal harmonies arise from not trying to achieve something.

But New-age music that sounds like dreamy symphonies of otherworldly states do not resemble ethereal harmonies because it is not symphonic or anything else that suggests a progression in linear time. Nor is it otherworldly because there is no world since oneness is formless, thus endless.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There are no degrees of the Enlightenment of that which is One. It cannot be smaller or bigger because oneness is formless. However, there are degrees of everything in a world defined by time and space. That is why you can experience glimpses of Enlightenment on many levels depending on how much the outward-facing senses are turned off.

However, no matter the level, no glimpse comes close to the Enlightenment of that which is One because there are no levels in oneness. Nonetheless, the glimpses of Enlightenment slowly but surely undo the belief that differences make a difference. Thus you eventually welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One, which immediately erases the belief in more than one.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Here is yet another glimpse of the same mountain in the other photos. But you do not know the mountain since all the glimpses are different. Likewise, as long as you see glimpses of Enlightenment, you are not in the Enlightenment of that which is OnePhoto © Alexius Jorgensen.

Since it takes more than one to be aware of something, it is impossible to welcome Enlightenment of that which is one while sensing something.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Welcoming the Enlightenment of that which is one is like being transported in a driverless car that drives so fast that the glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is one merge into one bright light, tone, emotion or taste, absorbing everything definable, so nothing is carried into the formlessness of oneness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not find the Enlightenment of that which is One like you find other things in a world of something. But when you do not try to find anything, there is nothing to hide it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The Enlightenment of that which is One cannot be seen. That is why it appears hidden as long as you look for something.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Trying to extract a specific way to the Enlightenment of that which is One or its glimpses from Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings will not help you. It is better to forget all words about it and thrust the light, sound, feeling, or taste of the Enlightenment of that which is One to do its thing when you have a willingness not to be someone definitive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Many think they are spiritual when they use the inward-facing senses instead of the outward-facing ones. But even though you can say the inward-facing senses are closer to the reality of oneness, they are still part of a world that can be sensed. And oneness cannot be sensed because it takes more than One to be aware of something. That said, the inward-facing senses can be a big help in realising that everything experienced hides what cannot be experienced, namely that which is One.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Although oneness is endless, it does not last forever. On the contrary, it lasts no time because it is one perpetual present. That is why the story of this never-ending moment cannot be told in a world where everything has a beginning and end. Therefore, if you want to hear it, you must leave the belief in being a limited being. However, without this belief, you cannot hear something specific. No worries. Not believing to be limited, you are the story of one perpetual present.

Alexius in Wonderland

Updated April 7, 2023

Those who hear or feel the humming echoing oneness far away cannot use it to improve themselves or the world. But they can be used by it as a door to close the experience of a world where there seems to be more than one, so there is no experience to hide that which cannot be experienced, namely the formlessness of oneness. That does not mean they will be transformed because that requires more than one. Nor does it mean they will cease to exist because they have never existed because there is no more than oneness since it is formless, thus endless. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

If a world where there seems to be more than one is unreal, but that which is One is real, it is impossible to be in a world where there is more than one. And yet, we appear to be there. However, one who is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One does not believe but pretends to be there, like when playing a computer game. That is why Alexius’ description below of the world standing still does not reflect reality but how Alexius experiences pretending to be where he is not. The same applies to listening to the echo of oneness or having other glimpses of Enlightenment.

THE WORLD STOOD STILL
The first time the world stood still was in Alexius’ teen years. He looked out the window and saw everything covered by snow. It was like the whiteness outside of him turned him white while Donovan’s Jennifer Juniper was playing in the background.

He forgot to participate in the story of time and space. The air, he perceived as so thin that there was no space between anything. And although he noticed the music from his speakers, the silence was so loud that all he heard was the echo of oneness.

Much later, on a walk along the sea, the echo of oneness was there again – and sometime later, when he was walking on a pedestrian street busy handing out flyers, the distant echo of oneness was so intense that even though people were moving around him, it was like there was no movement and no people. He did not know what was happening, nor did he try to figure it out because you do not need more when you hear the echo of oneness.

After being accustomed to hearing the echo of oneness, he realised that this distant humming is what the words Aum, Sohang or The Word of God symbolise and that many people do not hear it because they expect those words to reveal a higher understanding. But there is no understanding to get, nor any need for it when you hear the distant humming that Aum, Sohang and The Word of God symbolise. See Life has no secrets, if you want to learn how to do that.

Alexius never do anything so-called spiritual, such as meditation. But in the mornings, he goes for a long walk from where he often returns home after enjoying the echo of oneness here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE PRIMORDIAL VIBRATION
The word guitar is a symbol of something that makes impressive sounds. But you do not sense those sounds when reading the word unless you have heard them before.

That is the same regarding Aum, Sohang or The Word of God. These words symbolise the distant humming of oneness. But they will not remind you of the unpronounceable vibration of oneness, nor will the subtle sound you can hear from a computer when you are close to it.

The distant humming of oneness hangs about a world where there seems to be more than one like an echo. It is the engine of it but not in the sense that it produces it. That is impossible because it echoes that which has no beginning and end, so it cannot create anything specific. Still, its energy is used to uphold the imagination of a world where there seems to be more than one, even though it is not in that fantasy – just like the dreamer’s energy makes it possible to have a dream but not to manifest the dreamer in the dream.

The vibration that ‘Aum’ and ‘Sohang’ symbolises is your launching pad to oneness.

Therefore, the echo of oneness is not for you if you dream about getting famous or rich or making the world a better place per a specific belief. This primordial vibration knows nothing to achieve or make better. On the contrary, it undoes everything conceivable, so there is not something to experience, thus nothing that seems to hide the formlessness of oneness.

Having glimpses of Enlightenment is like having an orgasm because you momentarily forget the body. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING OR NOT
The Enlightenment of that which is One cannot be experienced as that requires more than one. Therefore, the above is not about the Enlightenment of that which is One but about having glimpses of it. In this case, hearing the vibration that Aum, Sohang or The Word of God symbolises. You hear it when the definable world of the outward-facing senses is so far-off that the distant humming from the edge of the universe is the nearest.

But this is just one aspect of having glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. The other ones are striking visions of light, hearing the crispness of ethereal harmonies, tasting the sweetness of oneness, or feeling any of these expressions. However, since society is very focused on visual impact, you may only have heard of the visual aspect of the Enlightenment of that which is One.

Suppose you stop perceiving one of these aspects as something of several elements. In that case, there is no separation to establish you as somebody definitive. Hence the Enlightenment of that which is One set in beyond the senses (see Duality Hack #11 Going without distance to non-duality).

It is fun exploring the world of the outward-facing senses when you know it is make-believe. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

REALITY IS NEVER-ENDING. THUS EVERYTHING THAT ENDS IS UNREAL
Compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One or having glimpses of it, appearing to be someone in the world of the outward-facing senses feels like a distraction. But why not enjoy it? There is nothing to lose. You are not someone definitive, so you can pretend to be anybody in the world of the outward-facing senses.

If you are into concepts of love, you can perceive the world through glasses of love. And since it is all make-believe, you may as well pretend to be in wonderland. See Duality Hack #2 Pretending to be twofold undoes duality. Especially if you do it with the duality flow because, in that case, your wonderland is contrasted by sorrow, so you feel wonderful when you are sad. See hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE IS A TIMELESS JOURNEY WITHOUT DISTANCE TO THAT WHICH IS ONE
Metaphorically, you can say that what you experience via the inward-facing senses is a wall surrounding that which is One. The wall seems to have no substance. Yet it can be seen, heard, felt or tasted. Suppose you do not try to define this. In that case, the outward-facing senses have nothing to work with. Thus a black hole, with a thin frame of white light inside it and a rapidly spiralling bright light outside it, suddenly and very quickly sucks you into it.

However, the black hole has no end, so you do not reach oneness. No problem, there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. So you never left it to experience a world where there seems to be more than one.

The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them

Updated June 26, 2023

The echo of that which is one, which often is symbolised by the words Aum, Sohang or The Word of God and which comes from the edge of the universe can be heard or felt right now via the inner senses, because they are not limited by time and space.

The echo of that which is One is often symbolised by the words Aum, Sohang or The Word of God. It comes from the edge of the universe, but since the inward-facing senses are not limited by time and space, via them, it takes no time to hear or feel the echo of oneness.

None of the facets of the Enlightenment of that which is One – lucid light, transparent feelings, ethereal tunes or immortal sweetness – can be experienced because it requires more than one to be conscious of something. Therefore, you are wrong if you think you have felt, seen, heard, or tasted the Enlightenment of that which is One. You have had glimpses of it. They are samples you experience via the inward-facing senses while still in the world of the outward-facing senses.

In other words, contrary to the Enlightenment of that which is One, having glimpses of it is not beyond the senses. This article is about how to experience these samples with the inward-facing senses while still in the world of the outward senses.

The purpose of the glimpses is to undo the belief in more than one gradually – or immediately if not having separate flashes, but one light, sound, feeling or taste. That said, you cannot have that because you are in the Enlightenment of that which is One which cannot be experienced, as it takes more than one to be conscious of something. Please beware, the four aspects do not mix, and you do not have to get to know them all to undo the belief in more than One. One is enough.

However, the ways described to do this will not work if you look forward to being or having more. Nevertheless, you do not have to restrain yourself from getting more sex or anything else as long as you perceive your reaction to it as ‘it is what it is.’ See hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

THE ECHO OF ONENESS
The more you ignore the world defined by time and space, produced by the outward-facing senses, the more a world not limited by time and space is experienced by the inward-facing senses. Without time and space, it takes no time to go to the edge of the universe (read more about that here), where the echo of oneness has been used to create the fantasy world of time and space, which seems genuine until you feel or hear this primordial vibration, often symbolised by Aum, Sohang or The Word of God.

This is the Hindi symbol of ´sohang´ – grabbed from the web

The Hindi symbol of Sohang.

»With every exhalation the soul recites ‘Hang’ and with every inhalation it recites ‘So’. Thus every soul counts the mantra of Sohang (So plus Hang) twenty-one thousand and six-hundred times every day and night.« Gherand Samhita, stanza 84.

In Eastern religions the echo of oneness is symbolised by the word ‘Aum’ or ‘Sohang’ and in the New Testament by ‘The Word of God’: »In the origin The Word had been existing and That Word had been existing with God and That Word was himself God.« John 1:1, Aramaic Bible in Plain English.

One who is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One perceives ‘The Word’ in the above quote as a metaphor for the unpronounceable vibration you can feel or hear when not totally focused on the world of the outward-facing senses. But the unenlightened speculates about what exact words this qoute hints at, even though there is not a single verse in the Bible referring to ‘The Word of God’, as something that is written or can be spoken.

The vibration that AUM or Sohang symbolizes comes from the edge of the universe, which is only far away if you let yourself be deceived by a world defined by linear time as experienced through the outer senses.

Glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One come from a black hole at the edge of the universe. However, this is not far away when you ignore the outward-facing senses and their world defined by time and space but instead go with the inward-facing ones because they are not ruled by time and space. Thus you can feel, see, hear, or taste the glimpses regardless of where you appear in the world of the outward-facing senses.

A way to ignore the outward-facing senses so you can feel or hear the echo of oneness with the inward-facing senses is not to be exclusive but inclusive. When you include all that you feel or hear – or are willing to do that – the sum of it is felt or heard by the inward-facing senses. It feels or sounds like the humming of nothing and everything. And it is like being both in the world of the outward and inward-facing senses. Read about inclusiveness vs exclusiveness in hack #4 Inclusiveness frees you from duality.

You can also use the word Aum or Sohang as a launching pad for feeling or hearing the humming from the edge of the universe. Read the article Life has no secrets to learn how to do that without spending years meditating.

READ ABOUT THE INWARD AND OUTWARD-FACING SENSES:

When your eyes become single, there is no separation to hide the enlightenment of that which is one. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

W

THE THIRD EYE
Seeing glimpses of oneness is done via the inward-facing sense, often called the third eye, a single ‘eye’ between the two eyes above the eyebrows.

»The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.« Matt 6:22, King James Bible. This makes much sense to one who is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One but obviously not to the unenlightened, because in the new international version of the New Testament this sentence has been changed to: »The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.«

The enlightenment of that which is One is bid welcome by completely ignoring the senses. First time this happened for Alexius was when he returned home totally exhausted after a long nights work of taxi driving and simply was too tired to focus.

In other words, to be offbeat, exhausted, confused or maybe even drunk is a way to forget to sense the world, thus nothing to hide the Enlightenment of that which is One. Actually, anything that is not part of a scheme to fabricate images defined by time and space will do.

If that includes drugs Alexius does not know, because he has not experienced them. Yet he can say from looking at others taking drugs, that it seems more about expanding the consciousness of a world where there seems to be more than one than undoing it.

»Direct your eyes toward the middle of the eyebrows and meditate upon your own self. It is Shambhavi Mudra, the most secret practice of all the Tantra scriptures.« Gherand Samhita, stanza 59.

The positioning of the body, while activating the third eye, does not matter.

The positioning of the body, while activating the third eye, does not matter, as long as the body does not bother you.

Practically speaking you can turn off the visual outward-facing sense and open the third eye by closing the eyes and lightly, without any concentration, hold a finger on the third eye. You can do it anywhere in any position. However, it is best to do in a dark room, so you do not think the revelation of light comes from the world of the outward-facing senses.

If something like this is dechiffered into different colors and forms, you will have glimpses of the enlightenment of that which is one, but if you do not judge any colors or forms to be different from each other the apparent differences will explode into one bright light.

If having a vision like this and it is deciphered into an experience of different colours and shapes around a centre, it is a glimpse of ‘the Enlightenment of that which is One.’ But if you do not judge the apparent different colours and forms to make a difference or to come from somewhere specific, one bright and colourless light, that seems to explode from a gap in nowhere wipes out all thoughts collected to shape you as somebody so that nobody gracefully falls into the formlessness of oneness.

Since the eyes always looks for the greatest contrast of light, your closed eyes automatically search the darkness until they move inwards and upwards towards the third eye from where they settle at a lightshow radiating at such speed that its colours hardly is perceived to differ.

»Touching eyeballs as a feather, lightness between them opens into the heart and there permeates the cosmos.« Sochanda Tantra, stanza 13.

If your eyes do not automatically move inwards and upwards into the area of the inward-facing senses above the eyebrows, you may help them by gently pressing the thumb and middle finger on the outer corner of the eyeballs and the middle finger on the third eye.

However, this is not commendable, since even the slightest effort requires focus, and it is not focus but defocus that bids welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One or its glimpses. Furthermore this may give you the impression that certain physical postures can open the third eye.

None of the inward-facing senses are reached via a specific posture or way of thinking. However, deactivating the outward-facing senses can be achieved in this way, so if you find a technique that seems helpful regarding this by all means go for it. But the fastest way to deactivate the outward-facing senses is to not know what and where you are.

A way to to deactivate the outward-facing senses is to use an eye massager such as RENPHO Eye Massager with Heat Compression. Besides from turning off the outward-facing sense of seeing, the heat soften the eyes. And when they are relaxed, they do not focus. Hence they automatatically turn inwards and upwards to merge into the third eye.

»… and there shall be no light there, and they need no candle there, neither the light of the sun, for the Lord God giveth them light.« Rev. 22:5

The thought construction that seems to keep you together as someone tangible is left at the edge of a black hole.

The thought construction that seems to keep you together as someone tangible must be left at the edge of a black hole so that there is nothing to gently fall into the formlessness of oneness.

Consequently, you have glimpses of Enlightenmen. And if, metaphorically, your eyes become soft enough the glimpses merge into one bright white light, namely the Enlightenment of that which is One. It extracts all thoughts stored to make you appear as someone definitive, and leave them at the edge of what may look like a black hole, so there is nobody to experience the nothingness of you gently falling into the formlessness of oneness.

You can read more about a black hole in the article The ins and outs of a black hole.

Enlightenment is not an out-of-the-body experience as it is not an experience, but its preliminary stage of bliss and compassion, which is connected to the world via the pineal gland, is an experience that is often perceived to be out-of-the-body.

The enlightenment of that which is one is not an out-of-body experience. It is not an experience at all. But its preliminary stages of bliss and compassion, which in the world probably is connected with the pineal gland, is something that may be felt as an out-of-body experience.

However, most are afraid of loosing their identity, so they settle for glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One, which is like a blissful out-of-body experience – presumably linked to the pineal gland which appears to foster states like that.

If you are not tempted to stop at this bliss, but to go where someone definitive cannot go, namely into the Enlightenment of that which i One, it is not an out-of-body experience. On the contrary, there is no experience at all, nor consciousness, because to be awate of something requires more than one.

If you want to leave the Enlightenment of that which is One and be reshaped as someone definitive, you must recollect the thoughts, that was left at the edge of a black hole to enter it as nobody.

Returning from the Enlightenment of that which is One to a world where there seems to be more than one, you cannot know, you have been at the other side of a black hole, because you were not there and there is no other side, since there is no more than that which is one. In other words, the person you appear to be is not Enlightened. Yet, due to vague memories of oneness, you are to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One.

It is not possible though for somebody else to know this. You will hardly grasp it yourself. But for sure you grasp, that a world where there seems to be more than one is not real.

ac1d3bc0-5bae-4dac-921e-8c1c4d9f64e1ETHEREAL TUNES
The airy music you can experience with the inward-facing senses is full of ethereal harmonies, probably floating out of a black hole at the edge of the universe.

»I heard a sound from heaven like the sound of cascading waters and like the rumbling of loud thunder. The sound I heard was also like harpists playing on their harps.« Revelation 14:2, Holman Christian Standard Bible.

Being used to take a ride in the world of the inward-facing senses, that opens up when the outward-facing senses are not fully activated to experience a world defined by time and space, you sense the first sentence of this quote refers to ‘Aum’ or ‘Sohang’ or ‘The Word of God,’ and that the second one to ethereal music.

»At midnight when not a single sound is heard, close your ears with both hands and do Purak Pranayama. Listen to the sounds in your right ear which are very pleasant. The first sound that you will hear is of a pine bird, the second of a flute, third of a cloud, fourth of a dragon bee, the fifth of a ringing bell and then of a gong of metal. Sounds of trumpet, drum etc. are also heard.

Except for having scim read The New Testament and Bhagavad Gita Alexius have not read religious scripts. Therefore, most of the words in the quote from Gherand Samhita are meaningless to him. But since he hears celestial music, it is easy to see the essence of the quote is the bliss of listening to ethereal harmonies. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Besides these, many other sounds are heard if it is practiced daily. These sounds are Anahata (unproduced) and come on their own accord. Nada is related to light. Light is related to mind, so mind gets itself merged in a sound which is the seat of the Lord. Therefore, practice of Bhramari gives Siddhi of Samadhi (i.e., makes Samadhi possible).

Mind gets eightfold more pleasure in the act of meditation than Japa (repeating God’s name), eightfold more interest in Tapas (penance) than the meditation, and eightfold more interest in music or sound than the Tapas. There is nothing greater than music.« Gherand Samhita, stanzas 77-81. Besides for the word ‘Nada’ meaning music Alexius does not know the meaning of the Hindi words in this quote, but hearing celestial music himself – though not so bombastic as described in this quote – he gets the overall meaning of it.

Using noise-cancelling headphones is a great way to close off the outward-facing sense of hearing. Alexius prefers in-ear headphones, though, as they can also be used when going to bed.

A practical way to stop hearing the world of the outward-fencing senses and listen to the music of the inward-fencing ones is to put both thumbs in your ears or use noise-cancelling headphones or in-ear headphones. Then without focusing or trying to define anything, be nothing but the ethereal music coming to you from what may seem far away.

To tune in, it is best not to go with the sounds from the left ear. They often come from busy thoughts. So instead, follow the harmonies that appear to come from an empty space outside the right ear. That said, do not pay too much attention to directions.

Maybe you will not hear ethereal harmonies immediately but the humming symbolised by ‘Aum’ or ‘Sohang’ or ‘The Word of God.’ If so, go with that glimpse of the Enlightenment of that which is One. It could also be that you ‘hear’ thoughts. But they will not disturb you from hearing eternal harmonies if that is what you want – nor from having visions of light, infinite sweetness or sublime intimacy.

Tasting the sweetness of oneness helps you not to focus on the world of the outward-facing senses. Since this eventually results in not perceiving the apparent differences to make a difference, there is no separation to hide that which is One.

THE TASTE OF ONENESS
The Taste of oneness can be compared to the foam on a milkshake with a few drops of honey and maybe a hint of either liquorice, strawberry, or mint. It can also be compared to how marshmallows – especially those with a flavour of strawberries – interact with the palate.

Some Chinese Herb Formulations or teas – for example Spring Dragon Longevity Tea – enhance the Taste of Oneness, provided you already are in touch with it. The same applies to the Ayurvedic teas, that Alexius have tasted that include liquorice.

But it is best not to compare the Taste of Oneness or other glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One to anything else because all comparisons are based on definitions from the past, thus cancelling out the ever-present glimpses of Enlightenment.

»Your lips drip nectar, my bride, honey and milk are under your tongue.« Song of Solomon 4:11.

»A land flowing with milk and honey« Exodus 3:8

»Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never be thirsty, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him as a well of water springing up into everlasting life.« John 4:10-4:14.

Even though this taste is called the nectar of life in some scriptures, you should not expect it to make you younger or inject you with more energy in the world of the outward-facing senses. Getting more is an illusion based on the belief that there is more than that which is One.

One way of undoing this belief is not to focus because without it, the apparent differences in a world where there seems to be more than one become blurred. Thus different appearances do not seem to hide, there is no more than the formlessness of oneness. Fortunately, defocusing is a side-effect of the technique for the Taste of Oneness.

The inner sense of taste not only stops the compulsive focusing on forms but also your cravings for sweets and to experience  something definable. The taste of life is always there and it is free. Neither do you have to meditate or be pure to consume it. All you have to do is to put your tongue behind the uvula. And if you cannot do that, it is also OK, because doing so is just meant to help you deactivating the outer senses and the only thing that really accomplish that, is the intention to do it. Just like even you are at a springboard, you will not dive from it, if that is not your intention of going there.

The inward-facing sense of taste does not only diminish the compulsive focusing on something definitive but also your cravings for more, for example sweets. The Taste of Oneness is always there. It is free, and you do not have to meditate or be pure to enjoy it. All you have to do is to put your tongue behind the uvula and devote yourself to the Taste of Oneness. If you cannot get your tongue all the way, it is not a problem. The technique is meant to help you deactivating the outward-facing senses and the only thing that really accomplish this, is the intention of doing that. In other words, reaching the uvula with your tongue is good enough to get the sweet taste of oneness. This is not a metaphor, nor second-hand knowledge but Alexius’ experience from tasting the subtle sweetness of oneness on both sides of the uvula the past 50 years. Another result of this technique is that the empty breath is activated. It expands the breathing, so the the body feel glorious. And the soft taste of oneness prevents you from focusing on the world of the outward-facing senses. Thus you feel absorded by the happiness of abstractness.

The Taste of Oneness unfolds under the tongue, when it is moved behind the uvula (the skin flap hanging down in the back of the mouth at the entrance to the throat). Placing it there makes you feel like you are not in the world even though you appear there. Besides it cutbacks the need to focus on the world of the outward–facing senses and the longing for more, especially sweets. That is if you devote yourself to it – no techniques work without devotion. Yet devotion can work without a technique.

To get the tongue behind the uvula you may have to press it backwards for a long time, maybe for months, and finally use a finger to push it the rest of the way. It can make you feel as if you are about to vomit. No worries – it is just a feeling. When you are used to keeping your tongue there, it is easy, and there is no sense of vomiting.

»Khechari Mudra is turning the tongue backwards into the cavity of the cranium and turning the eyes inwards toward the eyebrow center.« Haha-Yoga Pradipika, Chapter 3, stanzas 32-37.

To taste the sweetness of oneness, called Khechari Mudray in the above quote, you do not have to literally replicate the ancient technique. Neither do you have to push the tongue behind the uvula as Alexius wrote above. Reaching the soft area underneath the front of the uvula with the backside of the tongue will do. See also the explanation in the above caption.

Alexius started to apply the technique for The Taste of Oneness about 50 years ago. But he cannot remember when he became aware of its side effect of defocusing, thus freeing the body from psychological problems projected onto it. So maybe that takes a while, or he did not notice it at first. But in that context, getting the tongue as close to the uvula as you can is good enough.

THERE IS NO WAY TO THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE
You do not welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One or glimpses of its four facets by becoming purer, breathing wholly, eating healthy or anything else you can do in the world of the outward-facing senses. Still, things like that may help deactivate those senses.

However, no technique can do that if that is not the purpose of executing it. In other words, the first step is solely about purpose. If that is to deactivate the outward-facing senses, many techniques work. The second step is to devote yourself to the lucid journey in the world of the inward-facing senses.

But these steps only apply to having glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One and not to welcome in its entirety, as it takes more than one to take any step.

The part of the world of the outer senses you want to experience is not meant to be blurry but in focus, so what you see is definable. It is the other way around with the world of the inner senses,. In other words, the two worlds does in most cases not work well together. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

The part of the world of the outward-facing senses you want to experience is not supposed to be blurry. It must be in focus to make the experience definable. It is the other way around in the world of the inward-facing senses. Your experiences there are abstract.

DAILY LIFE WITH GLIMPSES OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE
It is probably best not to be active in the world of the outward-facing senses while having visions of light. That is because the visual glimpses of Enlightenment can become so intense that the world of the outward-facing senses is hardly sensed.

However, if the technique for tasting the sweetness of oneness is only used for defocusing, it can be carried out all the time while being active in the world of the outward-facing senses. And you can enjoy the ethereal harmonies if you do it without putting your thumbs in the ears and not too long at a time. That also applies to hearing or feeling the vibration that Aum, Sohang and The Word of God symbolise. See Life has no secrets.

The result is the experience of a world less defined. Not to the extent, though, that you cannot move around but that you feel you are carried around.

That is, as long as you do not take the full tour of these glimpses because after 20 minutes, 45 at most, it ends with the Enlightenment of that which is One. Read more about that here. Thus you no longer experience being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, nor in oneness since that requires more than one. You are not someone at all, so there is no memory or consciousness of ever having believed that. Instead, there is what always has been and will be, namely that which is one.

The Hebrew word Elohim was originally a symbol for one perpetual present.

The word god, a translation of the Hebrew word Elohim, was at first meant to be a metaphor for that which is one and never ends, thus a symbol for one perpetual present. But since that makes no in a world of linear time, the meaning of the word gradually changed, so that god became a symbol for one almighty force believed to have created a world in its own image.

But what is not definable cannot create something definable. Hence a world defined by time and space is an illusion and so is the perceived creator of that world.

APPENDIX ABOUT THE QUOTES
The terminology of yoga and scriptures – apart from a quick look in The New Testament and Bhagavad Gita – is unknown to Alexius. So he does not know the books quoted above. Instead, he found the quotes by searching the internet.

When everything is included, there does not appear to be something outside you. And as there is no inside without outside, there is nothing but that which is One.

Alexius does not side with Eastern or Western religions or new-age philosophy. Generally, they exclude what they judge as wrong by projecting it onto non-believers to make them tainted and themselves pure. Yoga, for example, is often based on meditation, where you exclude something deemed evil to become pure so you can return to oneness. But that which is One is formless, thus endless. Thus you can neither add nor subtract from it. If you try to do that, you enhance the belief in being and having more than that which is One.

‘The Enlightenment of that which is One’ and its glimpses

Updated June 26, 2023

There are no degrees of the Enlightenment of that which is One because it cannot be experienced. However, you can experience glimpses of it in various degrees depending on how much you shut off the outward-facing senses. You see, hear, feel and taste these glimpses via the inward-facing senses. To do that, you do not have to close your eyes or be in a particular place or position. You focus less on the world of the outward senses. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

ARE THERE DEGREES OF ENLIGHTENMENT?
The answer to the question is both yes and no.
In the Enlightenment of that which is One, everything happens simultaneously. Therefore, since no specific elements can be combined into something understandable, it is beyond the senses. Thus impossible to experience and consequently without degrees.

Nevertheless, you can have glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One in various degrees via the inward-facing senses regardless of the body’s state, how and where it is positioned and if you know anything about Enlightenment. It is merely a matter of not focusing on something specific. The more you do that, the less the substantial world of the outward-facing senses blocks the abstractness of the inward-facing senses.

However, like a movie trailer is not the movie, the glimpses of Enlightenment are not the Enlightenment of that which is One. But unlike a movie trailer which does not contain the whole film, glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One has it all. So when you stop distinguishing them, without any transition, the Enlightenment of that which is One set in.

It is as if it comes from out of nowhere through a gap that may look black (see the article The ins and outs of a black hole) to terminate your consciousness quickly.  Thus nothing is sucked through a black gap that is gone because there is no awareness to hide, there is no more than that which is One. So if you want to hold onto being someone definitive, somewhere specific, thus denying the formlessness of oneness, you stop the extraction of consciousness by fearing it. Since that requires more than one, you are, without any transition, back in a world where there seems to be more than one.

It takes more than one to have a vision, so no matter how impressive it may be, it is not the Enlightenment of that which is One but a glimpse of it. That is comparable to a movie trailer, a sample of the whole, thus not undivided. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE OR GLIMPSES OF IT
Nobody can attest to you having been the Enlightenment of that which is One because it calls for more than one. For the same reason, you only have vague memories of nothing entering the void of antimatter in a gap of light. The memories pop up every time you have glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One, which can be visions of light, celestial music, shivering feelings of total emptiness or tastes of heavenly sweetness. Read more about that in The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them.

You devote yourself to one of these aspects at a time without hanging onto it. So if another replaces that aspect, you go with that. However, never try to mix them.

If you want to return to the Enlightenment of that which is One, you stop distinguishing the glimpses of the aspect you experience. Therefore, since separation is not confirmed, your experience stops. Without any transition, the Enlightenment of that which is One set in to erase all the thoughts used to imagine being outside of oneness.

Unlike the Enlightenment of that which is One, glimpses of it do not wipe out thoughts completely. But you forget to assign them with a specific meaning, thus moving lightly in the material world of the outward-facing senses. At the same time, glimpses of Enlightenment come to you from the abstractness of the inward-facing senses.

When that is over, the focus on the material world of the outward-facing senses is re-established. If you want to look special there, you probably claim to have been awakened by the glimpses, thus being someone who knows how to make the world a better place. But by using glimpses to highlight yourself as somebody instead of undoing the belief in being that, you are imprisoned by the glimpses, not set free.

The world of the outward-facing senses is experienced via seeing, hearing, feeling and tasting/smelling something perceived as material. The world of the inward-facing senses can also be seen, heard, felt and tasted. However, you do not get a sense of something tangible but abstract.

Depending on how much you use the inward-facing senses to perceive your experiences in the world of the outward-fencing senses, you have a pleasant day or glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. In the latter’s case, you still notice the world of the outward-fencing senses, but it does not mean much to you. In the case of the former, you are much aware of the world of the outward-facing senses. But it looks friendlier, and you feel more relaxed. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE INWARD AND OUTWARD-FACING SENSES
As the name suggests, the drive of the inward and the outward-facing senses is not the same. The outward-facing senses are for actively expanding what you appear to be and have. But you do not need that in the world of the inward-facing senses because it is abstract, so you are boundless. You can use that to soften your appearance in the world of the outward-facing senses or have glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One, for example, travelling through lucid worlds of light. That is effortless, but everything in the world of the outward-facing senses requires much effort.

Much devotion to the world of the inward-facing senses probably makes you spaced out in the world of the outward-facing senses. Yet, if you do not have to be present there, you can go with the flow of the inward-facing senses, as if the world outside you stands still. See Alexius in Wonderland.

However, you cannot tone down the outward-facing senses if you want to escape them because what you try to escape you enhance psychologically. On the other hand, the more you wish to get close to reality, the more the outward and inward-facing senses fade out, and the more you are on Highway One. It has no direction, so you are not going anywhere. But the belief in being somewhere goes away. Hence there does not appear to be something to hide that which is One.

But suppose you have to do something demanding in the world of the outward-facing senses. In that case, it is best to devote yourself to the outward-facing senses mainly so the abstractness of the inward-facing senses does not space you out but makes it easier to do something demanding joyfully.

Syncing the inward and outward-facing senses in the correct ratio per your present situation is less complicated if you leave it to the empty breath. See, The empty breath syncs the inward and outward-facing senses.

The body’s healing caused by partly being devoted to the inward-facing senses is a side effect that helps you not worry about its appearance and inevitable end. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE INWARD-FACING SENSES AND THE BODY
The inward-facing senses cannot heal your body. However, its abstractness sets the body free from the ideas of wellness you try to inflict on it. Hence the body gets the peace it needs to heal itself. It may not include genetically caused diseases, though. But since they do not generate fear due to the tranquillity of the inward-facing senses, it is easier to deal with them (see Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix).

But suppose the body’s well-being is the purpose of devoting yourself to the inward-facing senses. In that case, you focus on something specific, so you do not enter the world of the inward-facing senses. Hence the body does not get the peace it needs to heal itself.

Like a moth cannot help but follow its attraction to the flame, even though it is going to end of it, the purpose of the inward-facing senses is to draw you into their abstract world to undo the belief in being someone definitive.

If you return from the Enlightenment of that which is One to the experience of being someone substantial, your appearance remains the same. That is because it has not been Enlightened. However, due to vague memories of the formlessness of oneness, you do not believe it is real. Hence you are to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE DOES NOT CHANGE ANYTHING
Visiting the Enlightenment of that which is One by momentarily forgetting what and where you appear to be may at first seem to be a process. As long as that is the case, the experience of you as someone definitive can be recalled. But since it takes more than one to be anything, the reestablished experience does not contain the Enlightenment of that which is One. So although you are to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One, nothing has changed except you know there is no more than that which is One.

When the Enlightenment of that which is One does not seem to be a process, you are entirely beyond the senses. Hence there is no one to know about ever having been someone, wherefore there is no return to being a substantial being in a tangible world. Consequently, nobody seems to hide what always has been and always will be, namely, the formlessness of oneness. From this follows, nobody is aware of that since it takes more than one to be conscious of something.

Therefore, if somebody claims to have been transformed by Enlightenment into something better or higher, it is not the Enlightenment of that which is One, but glimpses of it that they use to promote themselves as a superhuman with no negative emotions, only love and compassion. Since everybody wants to be superhuman, it sounds compelling, so you may dismiss the Enlightenment of that which is One if it hits you because you did not become anything at all. And being nobody, you cannot share with anybody because that requires more than One, thus turning you into somebody.

People have extraordinary ideas about Enlightenment. Some think it is pure love, consciousness or the ability to see through all illusions. But seeing or being something requires more than one. Hence the Enlightenment they are dreaming about is not the Enlightenment of that which is One, but something to improve their life in a world where there seems to be more than one, thus fencing off that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

IS THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE REQUIRED TO UNDO THE BELIEF IN BEING SOMEONE?
The Enlightenment of that which is One can be said to be the last step back to the formlessness of oneness. But as formlessness is endless, you have never left it. Thus it is not about going back but realise the belief in being definitive hides the formlessness of oneness.

As already mentioned, the Enlightenment of that which is One undoes that belief immediately. However, it can also be achieved over time while enjoying the world of the outward-facing senses by applying one or more of Alexius’ Duality Hacks except Hack #10.

Glimpses of Enlightenment are comparable to the sneak peeks Alexius had in his childhood of his family’s Christmas tree when he looked through the door’s keyhole. He was in his normal world but had glimpses of something glorious.

Here the world of the inner senses are about to shift to bright white light, which is gonna extract all the info you have collected in order to appear as somebody and leave it at the edge at a black hole so that there is nobody to fall into the nothingness of that which is one. This is not compatible with appearing in a world, where there seems to be more than one, so if that is what you want, you better make sure the info making up your personality is not extracted or you know where to find it again. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

This image could illustrate the last glimpse of the Enlightenment of that which is One before you give up being aware of something. There is no transition from having glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One and being sucked into it. And since it is one perpetual present, you do not know when it extracts all your thoughts about being someone so that nobody is sucked through a black gap and gracefully falls into that which One. Since that is incompatible with appearing as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, you better stop the extraction of thoughts if you want to continue like someone definitive, for example, by fearing it. Thus you immediately appear as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

WHERE DO GLIMPSES OF ENLIGHTENMENT COME FROM
Physically speaking, glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One seem to originate from a non-defined space behind the frequencies of thoughts near the pineal gland. It is probably here you perceive the world when you are in a state of not-knowing.

The same applies when you pretend to be someone or perceive everything experienced as symbols of oneness. The empty breath – sounding like sohang – is presumably picked up there as well, physically speaking.

You cannot know because you are blown out by those experiences. That is fine because focusing on the pineal will not bring about any of the above. Concentrating on something contracts the energy, so you feel boxed in as someone definitive. On the other hand, defocusing removes restrictions wherefore, you do not feel limited to being someone specific.

More than one is like a film of oneness in slow-mo

Updated July 23, 2023

When letters are compiled in various configurations, their different shapes can be attributed as meaningful or meaningless. And when the supposedly meaningful ones are arranged in rows like here, it is as if you read a story written by somebody other than yourself. Hence it seems there is more than One. But since the different arrangements of letters are interpreted by you, you are the maker of the story, so it does not prove there is more than One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Let us imagine that oneness consists of endless letters, some of those make up the shapes appearing in a world where there is more than one. However, since there is no separation in oneness, the letters that oneness consists of cannot be distinguished. Besides, oneness is so fast that it is one perpetual present. Therefore, since there is no time, it is impossible to organise anything linearly.

But suppose you imagine slowing down the speed of oneness until there appears to be space between its letters. In that case, they appear to have different shapes that, over time, can be combined in several combinations attributed with each their specific meaning. Hence space and time establish separation as real and the formlessness of oneness as unreal.

Fortunately, this fantasy of a world where there seems to be more than one is easily undone when you reverse it and instead speed up the thoughts that establish the meaning of the letters until there is no time to establish separation.

Suppose you need time to process what you read. In that case, it is not to understand it but to reduce the speed of thoughts so you can remain in the experience of a slowed-down version of oneness and appear calm although feeling alienated because you are not a separated being, but the formlessness of oneness.

It is only in the world of duality, that there appears to be movements, and that there can be more of it. In reality no movements can appear, because everything move so fast that it is one perpetual present as you can see illustrated in these pics of a fan.

In that which is One, everything moves so fast that there is no separation – like in the first image, where the extreme speed of the ceiling fan annuls separation. However, when the fan is slowed down, separation occurs. Likewise, a world where there seems to be more than one appears to come into being when imagining slowing down oneness. The graphic is grabbed from the web and manipulated by Alexius.

In the movie Lucy, Scarlett Johansson demonstrates that when time is speeded up infinitely, there is nothing to see. This is comparable to that which is One. It is so speedy that there is no separation to define something. That is why it is formless, thus endless, and a world where there seems to be more than one is non-existing.

ONENESS VERSUS A WORLD WHERE THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE THAN ONE
Oneness can be compared to a movie played so fast that its frames look like one, making it impossible to see anything specific. However, slowed down, it seems like oneness is full of frames with a particular look – like a world with more than one.

Therefore, if you believe to be someone in the movie of a world where there seems to be more than one, you do not undo this belief by slowness but by quickness. You need to speed up the film – or rather, your interpretation of it. Since that is a construction of thoughts, the faster they move, the more the frames appear to press on, and the less you experience more than one.

The Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnyk plays extremely rapid, intricate patterns of notes, which produce overtones so trance-inducing, that a cascade sound of purity makes you forget, it is ignited by the speed and complexity underneath it.

That happens by itself when thoughts are not shaped into interlocking Lego bricks, used to build an appearance of you as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one. Then thoughts are free to speed up until it is impossible to hold onto them, wherefore you enter a state of not-knowing. From where you return with the slate wiped clean to the awareness of being someone – or have your consciousness terminated by the Enlightenment of that which is One, so there are no experiences to hide there never was or will be anything but the formlessness of oneness.

If you close your eyes after having been deeply involved in something, physically or mentally, you may see it as a blurred picture speeding up like a movie frame. You do not feel disturbed if not holding back, because then its unrestrained energy ignites a take-off into the empty breath, which brings about the bliss of nothing.

The same applies when you worry and do not try to pacify yourself but instead step into the full uncontrolled speed of thoughts and emotions. Then a take-off into the empty breath is ignited.

So to repeat, returning to oneness is not about slowing down thoughts, least of all stopping them. If you do that, you are stuck in a single frame of an empty void, separated from similar ones. This numbness of stillness is as far away from oneness as you can get because that which is One is not deadlocked but free-flowing energy, moving at such a speed that everything is fused into the formlessness of oneness (see the first box).

Therefore, you undo the belief in a world where there seems to be more than one by speeding up thoughts to the extent that they do not appear to differ. Since that makes it impossible to interpret your experience as something specific, no shapes appear to hide the formlessness of oneness.

APPENDIX
Only in undoing the belief in more than one should thoughts not be organised into specific shapes. In a world where there seems to be more than one, thoughts must be set up in particular constructions to confirm your appearance. But maybe not how you expect.

‘The empty breath’ syncs the inward and outward-facing senses

Updated July 23, 2023

Should you wonder who chooses to believe in being someone and who has programmed the brain to produce experiences that seem to confirm this belief or who wonders about this, the answer is nobody. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The brain considers the abstract world of the inward-facing senses an uncompleted version of the substantial world of the outward-facing senses. But it does not mind which one you prefer because its purpose of twisting nothing into something is to make you feel so entertained by its experiences that they seem real, thus attesting to the brain as existent.

But little does it know that having experiences via the inward-facing senses eventually ends the brain’s experiences of you as someone in a world defined by time and space, so there does not appear to be something hiding the formlessness of oneness.

WHAT AND WHERE ARE THE INWARD AND OUTWARD-FACING SENSES
The concepts of seeing, hearing, feeling and tasting relate to the same sensory system, whether in the abstract way of the inward-facing senses or the substantial way of outward-facing ones. In the case of abstract experiences, the brain has not fully processed nothingness into the appearance of physical elements outside you. Thus it feels as if there is an abstract world inside you.

But in the world of the outward-facing senses, the brain has finished twisting nothing into something, so you appear as someone substantial in a tangible world outside you. However, since it takes more than one to experience something, and since there is no more than that which is One, all experiences are an illusion, whether with the outward or inward-facing senses.

The abstract world of the inward-facing senses is experienced when time and space are not entirely considered real. Ultimately speaking, though, the experiences with the inward-facing senses are not more real than those with the outward-facing senses because any experience requires more than one, and there is no more than that which is One since it is formless, thus endless. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Hence it is only in the context of the brain’s plot to deceive you into experiencing nothing as something that there is someone to experience an abstract world, lightly processed by the brain from the frequencies of nothingness and a substantial world, heavily processed by the brain from the same frequencies.

Still, in this context, the abstract experiences of the inward-facing senses come about when not entirely focused on being someone substantial in the world of the outward-facing senses. The little left of the belief in being substantial makes it possible to experience the abstractness of the inward-facing senses. In other words, when you appear to be nobody in the world of the inward-facing senses, you have not entirely left the belief in being somebody.

Initially, the abstractness in the world of the inward-facing senses may not seem very comforting, but it is the reverse. In the world of the outward-facing senses, we are always afraid of not making it, whereas we have nothing to live up to in the world of the inward-facing senses.

You must constantly focus on the world of outward-facing senses to make it seem real. But it is the other way around in the world of the inward-facing senses. That is experienced when there is no effort to focus or concentrate.

As long as you intend to appear in a world where there seems to be more than one, it is best to multitask between the inward and outward-facing senses so you focus when needed and space out if nothing is required of you.

But we cannot remain in this abstract world if we want to go on in a world defined by time and space. Fortunately, the empty breath is an automatic gear shift between the outward and inward-facing senses, so we go back and forth between them per our present situation.

Just like everything else sensed, the empty breath is invisible and colourless until the brain ascribes it to a specific shape and colour. But as the empty breath does not aspire to be something, the brain does not care to twist it into an object. Hence it remains invisible and colourless.

Not being someone specific feels as if you are nothing, which seems pretty discomforting until you realise that being empty, you are a vessel for the empty breath, which takes you into the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses, where glimpses of Enlightenment become the base for experiencing the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE EMPTY BREATH SYNCS THE INWARD AND OUTWARD-FACING SENSES
Even though you hide from the sun, it remains where it is – likewise, the empty breath. Therefore, the empty breath remains with us if we have briefly been connected with it. It does not know we do not feel connected because it is unaware that we believe to be separated beings in the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses.

Yet, the empty breath senses the stress this belief seems to create, so it synchs it with the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses. That is not because it is more peaceful in the world of inward-facing senses than in the outward-facing senses. But because the stress in the low-frequency world of the outward-facing senses does not seem disturbing in the high-frequency world of the inward-facing senses.

Besides, the body does not seem troublesome when the perception of it is coordinated with the inward-facing senses per what and where we appear to be because the tensions experienced due to psychological worries about the body’s condition vanishes. See also Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix.

However, it cannot work if you suppress the involuntary movements, the ignition of the empty breath may bring about to make you fall into place with the inward and outward-facing senses. Therefore, follow your electric-like, physical and mental impulses to get this synchronisation. For example, if the shoulders tighten up, be ready for mental relaxation when they fall. Or, if feeling sad, be prepared to be indifferent.

This is a leaf from a palm tree that Alexius has processed into a fantasy of what it may look like when not seen in the world of the outward-facing senses but experienced in the abstract world of the inward-facing senses. But he cannot illustrate the formlessness of oneness. It is without separation, so it cannot be seen. However, that does not mean it is nothing. On the contrary, since oneness is formless, thus endless, it is everything. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

This picture and the yellow one above have been processed from the same digital photo. Nothing has been added to the images. However the digital info is manipulated differently. It is a bit like when the brain from the same void of nothing renders a world in a world where there seems to be more than one. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Sometimes, something extreme is needed to make you realise the senses have been synced. For example, when Alexius, as a child, had been involved in an accident, he forgot what and where he was. So when he finally returned home, he asked his mother Who am I? His uncertainty remained, although his parents assumed he soon restituted. However, appearing as they expected was something he pretended as he always had done but was mainly unaware of until then. Read about pretence in Duality Hack #2 Pretending to be twofold undoes duality.

You cannot help the empty breath with the synchronisation. Still, you can prevent yourself from interfering with it, for instance, by doing Nordic Walking regularly, applying heat to the eyes with RENPHO Eye Massager with Heat Compression before sleeping and sleeping with far-infrared heating pads with PEMF.

It is essential to accept that although everything looks like before you were connected with the empty breath, nothing feels the same. At first, it may seem blander because you no longer get peak experiences in the world of the outward-facing senses. But that is because you do not split the duality pairs into separate entities. Therefore, since you feel neither up nor down but are the constant movement of opposites, there is no need for peak experiences.

NOTES:

Notes on ‘the empty breath’

Updated June 7, 2023

The function of the empty breath is not to improve the apparent condition of what and where you appear to be. That would be a replacement of one illusion with another. Instead, its function is to facilitate the undoing of the belief that what and where you appear to be is real. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The empty breath is not about getting healthier, more money, success, love or anything else, but realising what you appear to be and have is nothing. Hence there does not appear to be something hiding the formlessness of oneness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is difficult to explain the bliss of nothing that arises from the empty breath because it comes from not perceiving experiences as something.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Connecting with the empty breath, you do not aim to go higher but to fall into the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Why is nothing so blissful? Because without something, there are no problems.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is impossible to leave oneness since it is formless, thus endless. Yet, it appears possible to imagine not being there but in a world where there seems to be more than one. In that context, you get a life jacket from oneness: the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the empty breath loves you unconditionally, it is not bothered by your fantasies of being someone definitive. Besides, it is nothing, thus seeing nothing specific. That is why every experience of something is perceived as nothing when connected with the empty breath. Of course, this does not mean you do not do something about a broken leg, for example. But since it is seen as nothing, you do not add worries to your broken leg.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Connecting with the empty breath has nothing to do with appearance but being a medium for nothing, which you are when willing not to be something specific, even when meeting a precious friend like Alexius does here in the hospital. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

What you see on a computer screen are zeros and ones on a hard disk combined to simulate there is something on the screen instead of nothing. But it is not before an app has processed a combination of zeros and ones on the hard disk that you see something on the screen instead of nothing.

In this context, the empty breath is zeros and ones unprocessed by the brain, whereas the world of the screen is zeros and ones are processed by the app called the brain. But the empty breath does not know, you choose to believe the brain’s fantasy of nothing as something.

All the empty breath knows is that reality is oneness. Thus all that it wants is to breathe emptiness into what you believe in being and seeing so that it does not seem to hide, there never was or will be more than oneness because it is formless, thus endless.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As you probably have read in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings many times, oneness is formless, thus endless. And since it requires more than one to experience something, every experience is fictional. Consequently, it also applies to the experience of the empty breath.

Nevertheless, this experience, deeply rooted in an archetypical image of a never-ending rhythmic flow, slowly but surely corrects the misunderstanding that experiences are real. Furthermore, it becomes unproblematic to experience something. Not in the sense that you have no bad experiences but are indifferent to them.

If this feels confusing, do not try to figure it out. But go with the chaos until you cannot make ends meet and feel as if you are about to explode, which in a sense, happens when the build-up tensions ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Therefore, since it takes you to a state of not-knowing, you are not bound by the belief in being someone definitive until you leave this state and return to the belief in being someone.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Returning to that which is one is not a matter of going anywhere. Oneness is formless, thus endless, so it is impossible to leave it. Unfortunately, it seems possible to believe it is possible to separate. Fortunately, the empty breath undoes this belief so gently that we can enjoy our mistake while having it undone. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings gladly proclaim they are nothing, and you do not get something when connected with the empty breath. Thus nothing to perceive the present moment as something, wherefore you do not get the frustration of something but the bliss of nothing. Read here how to connect with the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Just like what you appear to be is nothing, so is the empty breath. But unlike you, it does not need to conceal its nothingness by appearing as something. Consequently, nothing prevents it from being what and where it is most beneficial for you – even under your feet if that is what it takes to make you see you are a fantasy made from nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Though the empty breath has no need to be remembered by you, it is beneficial that you remember it now and then. Temporarily being connected makes you feel better appearing as someone definitive when not connected.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A state of not-knowing does not only come from the empty breath. It is the outcome of all Alexius’ Duality Hacks. But if this state always is the same cannot be known because it is a state of not-knowing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is extreme sensitivity to a world defined by time and space that makes you feel fed up, thus feeling so uncomfortable that you give up and go with the uncontrolled energy of confusion, igniting a take-off into the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Going with the flow of the empty breath is just as easy as going with the flow of sex. The latter, though, does not result in the undoing of the belief that you are someone definitive unless the orgasm is used to ignite a take-off to the empty breath. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Following the flow of the empty breath is no different from following the flow of the genitals because no thinking is needed. However, being horny enhance the belief in being someone definitive, whereas the empty breath phases it out.

That is not to say that sex should be avoided because excluding sex or anything else adds to the definition of you as someone definitive. Actually, an orgasm can be used to ignite a take-off into the empty breath if you do not hold back but are nothing but orgasmic (read more about sex here).

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Following the empty breath, you automatically multitask because it does not know of focusing on something specific. Therefore, when you do not feel the empty breath, multitasking makes you feel it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since you perceive experiences based on a remix of memories, adjusted every time you recall them to boost the story of you as someone definitive, your perception does not match others.’ Therefore, you conclude something is wrong in your story or others’ and start to correct what you judge as incorrect.

The more you appear successful in this, the more it seems the story can be shaped to create a better version of you. Yet, no matter how the story is corrected, it remains a fantasy, and so does the idea that you are the author – just like you are not the author of a dream, nor are you in it, or the dream in you. It is a deception the brain makes to look as if nothing is something.

Fortunately, the brain cannot make the empty breath look like something, so when we are connected with it, we are in the bliss of nothing, thus not conditioned to perceive our experiences per a story we have made up to improve ourselves.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Some claim the amount of info coming from digital media makes them stressed. But that is probably because they sort the news per a particular philosophy. Thus it is not the amount of information but manipulating it to support a specific opinion that makes them stressed. Fortunately, the more stressed you get, the faster it disappears when you do not slow down the pace of thoughts but use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The change of size and weight from hefty to almost nothing – for example, vinyl to CD to MP3 to streaming, and computer to smartphones to wearables – is a reminder that reality is sizeless because it is that which is One, and it takes more than one to have a shape.

For the same reason, oneness cannot be seen. That is why the purpose of the empty breath is not to reveal oneness but that what you see is nothing. Hence your interpretation of nothing as something does not seem to hide the formlessness of oneness – like when not perceiving a dream as something, it does not seem to hide you are in your bed. The empty breath accomplishes this while you enjoy seeing nothing as something.

Of course, you could contemplate that something is nothing. But it often turns into a joyless debate of something instead of being in the bliss of nothing entailed by the wordlessness of the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

There are many ways to appear in a world defined by time and space, but there is no way to leave it because you are not in it – like within the context of such a world, a dreamer is not in their dream and, therefore, does not return to bed when it is over. Likewise, you do not return to the formlessness of oneness when your apparent life in a world defined by time and space is finished because you never left the formlessness of oneness. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Since most resist being nobody, they are unwilling to undo the belief in being somebody. But if you acknowledge this, you confirm your appearance is make-believe. Thus you have the willingness to undo the belief in being somebody. See also Willingness not to exclude but include undoes the belief in a world where there seems to be more than one.

That does not mean you suddenly are gone, reborn or awakened. The story of Santa Claus does not change when you grow up. What changes is that we do not believe it is real anymore. However, there is one difference between the story of Santa Claus and the story of being someone specific in a world defined by time and space. When the belief in the latter is undone or in the process of being it, you are not disappointed. Instead, you feel free to enjoy the story of duality.

You can take breaks from the story by connecting with the empty breath, thus being in a state of not-knowing. And when not connected with the empty breath, it helps you live out the story by syncing the inward and outward-facing. Since this makes you indifferent to a specific interpretation of something, you are in the duality flow. See Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the empty breath synchronises the outward and inward-facing senses, we become indifferent to being somebody in the tangible world of the outward-facing senses, thus responsive to being nobody in the abstract world of the inward-facing senses. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius connected with the empty breath when he, as a child, every night devoted himself to the whereabouts of the breath, thus going to sleep in the bliss of nothing. However, others were talking so much about being transformed into something higher, so the bliss of nothing seemed foolish to bring about.

Thus he hid being nobody in the bliss of nothing by pretending to be somebody in the world of something until he started writing Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings in 2012. But it was not before writing Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath that he named the way to the bliss of nothing: the empty breath.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Connecting with the empty breath does not require meditation or other techniques based on exclusion, restraint and control. But neither does the connection require you not to be exclusive because if you stand by your unwillingness to include everything unedited, the uncontrolled energy of suppression ignites a take-off to the empty breath.

CANCELLEX Insisting on differences is stressful

Updated May 26, 2023

Only in a world where there seems to be more than one can you search for the meaning of life. But it is not to be found there or anywhere else because it takes more than one to find something, and life is that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Compiling letters in various configurations, particular shapes can be attributed as meaningful and others as meaningless. When supposedly meaningful shapes are organised together divided by dots and commas, like in this article, they seem to make up a story written by somebody other than the reader, thus confirming there is more than One. But since the different arrangements of letters making up the story is interpreted by the reader, it is made by the reader. Consequently, the story does not prove there is more than One.

Let us imagine that oneness consists of endless letters and some of those make up the shapes appearing in a world where there is more than one are the same. However, since there is no separation in oneness, the letters oneness consists of cannot be distinguished from each other, thus not organised into shapes that, when added together in specific ways, seem to establish a story of a world where there is more than one.

Some claim the amount of info coming from digital media makes them stressed. But that is probably because they sort the news per a particular philosophy. Therefore, it is not the amount of information but organising it to support a specific opinion that makes them stressed. Fortunately, the more stressed you get, the faster it disappears if you do not slow down its pace but use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

But it is not only because there is no space to separate the letters in oneness that they cannot be differentiated from each other, but also because in oneness everything moves so fast that there is no time (read more about that here). Hence, it is impossible to organise them linearly – or in any other way.

In the context of our story about that which is One versus a world where there seems to be more than one, you could say the latter is a fantasy of slowing down oneness until there appears to be space between the letters, which therefore have a shape of their own that over time can be combined in different combinations attributed each their meaning. Thus space and time establish separation as real and the formlessness of oneness as unreal.

In other words, you slow down oneness to turn formlessness into thoughts representing specific shapes you can manipulate to your liking in a world where there seems to be more than one. Fortunately, this fantasy is easily undone when you reverse it, thus speeding up thoughts.

Unlike the Enlightenment of that which is One, the empty breath does not erase your memories of being someone. But since the empty breath resides in the nothingness from where the brain makes the experiences you believe establish you as someone, the empty breath knows you are nothing. Thus, with the empty breath by your side, the experiences do not establish you as someone substantial in a tangible world – like within the context of such a world, what you appear to be in the virtual world of a game is not perceived as real. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

A JOURNEY WITHOUT DISTANCE TAKES NO TIME
It is not a fact but a make-believe that you are someone definitive. It is exposed when you do not attribute meaning to the different combinations of letters in this article because then there are nothing to separate them, thus nothing to confirm you as someone definitive.

Since there is no more than oneness, nobody has ever left it. Thus going back takes no time.

The fastest way to get there is to welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One (see Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One). It promptly and relentlessly erases everything ever experienced. Hence there are no memories from which an image of you as someone definitive can be recalled. Thus not someone who seems to hide, there is no more than oneness because it is formless, thus endless.

Should you prefer to have the belief in being someone undone over time, you can connect with the empty breath (read more about that here). Once is enough because it does not know of separation. So even though you may forget the empty breath, it slowly but surely undo the belief in being someone definitive while assisting you in enjoying this belief.

Of course, you could contemplate this yourself. But it quickly turns into a joyless debate of something instead of being in the bliss of nothing entailed by the wordlessness of the empty breath.

To undo the belief in separation, you must give up attributing meaning to anything so your apparent different experiences do not appear to make a difference. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

WHEN NOTHING IS NOT PERCEIVED AS SOMETHING
The change of size and weight from hefty to almost nothing – for example, vinyl to CD to MP3 to streaming, and computer to smartphones to wearables – is a reminder that reality is sizeless because it is that which is One, and it takes more than one to have a shape.

For the same reason, oneness cannot be seen. That is why the purpose of the empty breath is not to reveal oneness but that what you see is nothing you perceive as something. In other words, when you do not perceive what you see as something, it does not seem to hide the formlessness of oneness – like when not perceiving a dream as something, it does not seem to hide you are in your bed. The empty breath accomplishes this while you simultaneously enjoy experiencing nothing as something.

NOTE: This article is part of Duality hack #9 In the bliss of nothing with the empty breath.

Consequently, you do not undo this fantasy by slowing down the speed of thoughts via meditation or something else pacifying. Nor is oneness revealed by understanding this or anything else because recognising something calls for more than one, thus enhancing the belief in more than one.

What does ‘the empty breath’ feel like?

Updated June 21, 2023

The inner breath is not restricted to be felt as a specific form, neither to only be felt inside. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Since the empty breath is not definitive, it cannot be experienced in a specific way. But it can be felt in undefinable ways anywhere within its non-definitive framework – whether that appears to be inside or outside the body – but never consistently the same, although it is always present.

You can feel the empty breath in many ways within its non-definable frame of a ball-like thingy. Its top passes through the head, and the bottom through the stomach. But the ball may be bigger or smaller. See below. It is not explicitly experienced inside or outside the body, so it is not an out-of-body experience. Besides, such an experience is based on the belief in being someone in a body, and the empty breath undoes that idea, so it is a no-body experience. However, that does not mean you do not take care of the body and the world around it when connected with the empty breath, but that you are indifferent to the outcome.

In the connectedness with the empty breath there is nothing that appears disturbing. But trying to connect with it everything seems disturbing, because the purpose of trying to do something is to delay it.

The inner breath has no definitive center or anything else in a fixed position, so your experience of it may be different from mine. Maybe you primarily experience it in the stomach, in the chest or both inside and outside of your body within the non definitive borders of a ball. It may change from moment to moment, as  – unlike this image – it is not static. This image however illustrates when all its movements are experienced simultaneously, which feels as if the everything stands still.

The empty breath has no definitive centre or border, nor is anything else fixed. Everything is constantly moving, so the experience changes from moment to moment. Maybe it is felt in the stomach or chest or outside the body. Should your experience differ from Alexius’ description, go with the flow as it comes to you.

FEELINGS ARE SUBJECTIVE
If you are future-minded, you might experience the empty breath starting in front of you, whereas it probably is felt to arrive from the back if you are concerned about the past. And if you are into the concepts like living in the now, being centred and balanced, it might feel like it has a centre. In other words, the experience of the empty breath is coloured by your conditioning.

That is not a problem for the empty breath because, contrary to you, it does not need to be acknowledged in a particular way. So whether you experience it in the stomach, the chest, or outside the body, it carries out its purpose: to make you indifferent to your experiences.

The empty breath is indifferent to all the apparent differences of the world, so the more you connect with it, the more you adapt to its indifference and the less you want to be someone who makes a difference.

Since the empty breath is not static, its experience may quickly change and differ from those described below. No worries, connecting with it is not about doing something specific to feel something definitive but going with the flow. You only feel obliged to do ‘the right thing’ when you want to make a difference.

I am not a talented illustrator, so instead of making an illustration of the inner breath, I have manipulated an image found on the internet in order to give you an idea of the simultaneously movements inside it.

Alexius has manipulated this scientific illustration from the internet to give you an idea of the simultaneously circular movements inside the non-definitive ball of the empty breath.

A BASIC INTRO TO THE NON-DEFINITIVE SHAPE OF THE THE EMPTY BREATH
The empty breath is modelled like an egg-shaped ball with oval circles moving inside it. But contrary to what you see in the illustration to the right, it does not have a definitive centre or border. Nor do the circles inside it. They are countless, and there are two yin-yang-shaped waves inside each one. You cannot see the waves inside the circles in the simplified illustration to the right. But in the second image from here, there is a sample of two waves inside one of the circles.

That the empty breath has a non-definitive form does not only mean its edge is blurry but that neither size nor shape is constant. It may get bigger and smaller here and there, so it momentarily feels more pear-shaped than egg-shaped. But it has no up and down, and the apparent centre of each circle inside the non-definitive ball of the empty breath is floating. Hence there are many non-fixed centres.

The innumerable amount of diffused shaped circles inside the non-definitive boundary of the empty breath is located vertically and horizontally, plus in between, with each of them having yin-yang-shaped waves inside them. There is an illustration of the yin-yang-shaped waves inside one of the circles in the below paragraph SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH. But the circles are actually fused into one yin-yang-shaped movement rolling in all directions – a bit like in the animation in the paragraph THE SWING OF THE EMPTY BREATH or the two last animations of this article.

However, since that is very difficult to comprehend in a world where we are conditioned to divide reality into more than one, most do not feel the totality of the empty breath but one of the many circles inside it. No worries. It is not about perfection but going with the flow as it comes to you.

The empty breath has no specific centre, and though it seems to consist of endless circles in various movements, everything is fused into one single move. But since this is hard to comprehend in a world where there seems to be more than one, you may find it easier to deal with one circle at a time.

Maybe the flow is a circle going vertically from the stomach around the back of the body to the top of the head when breathing in, and from there, in a circular movement in front of the body and back to the stomach when breathing out. Or it could also be in the opposite direction. It does not matter. As already said, it is about going with the flow, so follow it where it goes.

Perhaps it goes in a circle, about the same diameter as above, from the abdomen to the throat and back or the rectum to the heart and back. The circle can also expand its diameter, so it goes from the abdomen to a point above the head and back or from the rectum further above the head and back. Since the latter circle metaphorically goes from hell to heaven, you may feel frightened or spaced out if you get stuck in one of those extremes. See Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

But the circle may be smaller, from the heart to a point above the head. Or perhaps you do not feel the flow in a vertical circle from the back to the front of you but from the left to the right side or anywhere between these two. You can also feel it horizontally. But no matter where you perceive the empty breath, it is the same emptiness you encounter.

Below is a short introduction to some ways of feeling the empty breath, then a more detailed description. Be aware that feeling the empty breath, as described in this article, is only possible if you do not wish to be or have more because the empty breath has nothing to give but the sheer bliss of emptiness.

A BASIC INTRO TO FOUR WAYS OF FEELING THE EMPTY BREATH
Sensing the operator of the empty breath (see below) feels like you are floating on clouds of bliss. In contrast, going with the rhythmic flow of the empty breath is more like being moved by clouds of bliss.

The rhythmic flow can be heard as a distant sound or felt like a swing (see below). It can also be sensed as if nobody is surfing two yin-yang-like waves in and outside the body (see the next paragraph).

These categories are not meant to limit your experience of the empty breath but to inspire you to follow its flow.

d76fd0833b28d1db146c08a2dd2057d91-2

Each non-definable circle inside the cloudy ball of the empty breath – see the previous illustration – consists of two free-flowing yin-yang-like waves (without holes). It may feel like you are surfing these waves, more or less in sync with the physical breath. The colours in this image only have an illustrative purpose.

SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH
You see a simplified simulation of the empty breath in the illustration with the red circles pictured to the right above. But the circles are not actually red, and there are an endless number of them. And the drawing does not reflect that the empty breath has no definitive border or centre, and each circle inside it contains two non-definitive yin-yang-shaped wave holes (see the above image). They are colourless. The colours in this image and the others in the article only have an illustrative purpose.

When the breath expands the body, you surf the outside of the blue wave vertically from the stomach and behind the body up into the head. From there, you surf the outside of the yellow wave in front of the body down to the stomach while the breath is contracting the body. That is, if you are sensing the waves in a circle going vertically from the back to the front of the body. But, as mentioned above, the direction does not matter, and the circle can be smaller and bigger. Besides surfing the two yin-yang-like waves in a vertical circle, you can surf the waves in a horizontal circle or anywhere between.

No need to be in total sync with the rhythm of the physical expansion and contraction of the body, nor does it matter if part of the empty breath’s circular movement is skipped. What matters is you follow the flow as it comes to you. By doing that, you forget the physical breath. Hence it can take care of itself without you trying to inflict it with ideas of balance and whatnot.

Maybe the ecstatic way to surf the waves is to go the whole way around one of them and then continue by going the entire way around the other, more or less aligned with the breath extracting and contracting the body. However, many other joyous ways are probably revealed when you are in the flow.

Alexius has never been surfing in the world of the outward-facing senses, so when he says going with the flow of the two yin-yang like waves in a circle inside the empty breath feels like surfing, it is something he imagines based on movies.

As already said, you can surf the waves of the empty breath in both directions. Going counterclockwise tends to lessen physical awareness, so you become less interested in returning to the conscious experience of being someone substantial in a tangible world. The same applies if the non-definable edges of the empty breath are not experienced to pass through the head but on top of it and below the abdomen.

That sets the body free, so it can follow its biological system without you trying to integrate it with mental ideas of wellness. It is like trying to blend the material world with the immaterial world of a dream or vice versa. It does not work. Read more about that in Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix. However, you can surf the waves of the empty breath to ease pain in the body. See the appendix at the bottom.

Since it takes more than one to feel something, it is only in a world where there seems to be more than one it is possible to do that. Therefore, the more the belief in such a world is undone by the empty breath, the less you feel it.

It is impossible to illustrate the swing of the empty breath because it has no definable form or movement. Nevertheless, this animation may give you an idea. The swing of the empty breath is generated from the blurred curved line in the middle of the picture. But even though going with the swing of it is magnificent, it is often a laid-back experience of expansion and contraction.

THE SWING OF THE EMPTY BREATH
You surf the empty breath on the waves in any of the circles within the non-definitive border of the empty breath. But you feel the swing of the empty breath from the movement of the non-definitive curved line between the two yin-yang-like waves in any of the circles (see the curved line in the illustration to the left). Perhaps due to the definitive size of the body, the curved line in the swing of the empty breath feels less bowed and probably shorter than the rounded line between the two waves described above.

The swing of the empty breath extracts and contracts the body in a steady rhythmic flow of breathing in and out that may seem slower than when you imagined being in charge of the breath. And the break in between expansion and contraction may feel longer. Nevertheless, the swing of the empty breath probably feels more powerful – so much indeed that it feels like the body does not have enough room for it at first, even though it swings nothing but emptiness.

The curved line does not just swing from the back to front concerning the body but also up and down, from side to side and everywhere in between, which you may sense in the illustration to the left. Though you can feel all these directions simultaneously, it probably is so unfamiliar that you may prefer to feel the swing of the empty breath in one vertical circle at a time.

The circles with the swing of the empty breath are more egg-shaped (see the illustration to the left). But you will not notice that because it is only the swing of the curved line inside ‘the egg’ that you feel, probably in a way that does not seem logical. For example, breathing in, you may solely experience the swing of the empty breath at the bottom of ‘the egg’ and breathing out at the top of it – or the other way around, or only in the bottom, or the top. You can also experience the curved line going repeatedly or up and down simultaneously.

Like the other ways of feeling the empty breath, it presupposes you acknowledge you are not in charge. Using the technique for the taste of oneness, you automatically lose control because, whether you taste it, the method is beneficial for defocusing. And without focus, you are out of control. Read about the taste of oneness and defocus in The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them.

If you experience the swing of the empty breath in all the egg-shaped circles simultaneously, their fusion initially feels like everything is spinning. See the speedy animation just below. But it quickly becomes a feeling of everything standing so still that you feel the bliss of being indifferent to what and where you appear to be.

Connecting to the inner breath is fortunately not about perfection, as that requires much control and therefore blocks the inner breath to move on its own accord. The inner breath is always connected to you, but you cannot feel it if your purpose is to be someone definitive. In other words not being anybody the inner breath is not hidden. In fact it is very intense.

The swing of the empty breath is not felt as fast as the movements in this animation but rather like a steady ongoing rhythm with much force that expands and contracts the body. Yet the resulting breath in the body is often very subtle. It probably seems slower than you are used to – unlike the operator of the empty breath, which is a rush of energy within the non-definable ball that constitutes the empty breath. Even though the particles of this force are moving completely unstructured and at any speed, fast or slow – a bit like in this animation – it is such a relief to merge with this apparent chaos because that prevents you from focussing on anything specific. Hence you feel like a fountain of sparkling joy.

THE OPERATOR OF THE EMPTY BREATH
Besides feeling the swing of the empty breath or surfing its yin-yang-like waves more or less in alignment with the extraction and contraction of the physical breath, you can also feel a constant rush of energy within the non-definable border of the empty breath. This chaotic energy is not rhythmic but irregular at the root of the empty breath. Yet, it is the force behind the constant rhythm of the empty breath. The feeling is a subtle sense of being here and everywhere, or as if spinning through a world with no limits, undefined as someone.

There are no rules, but it could very well be that a take-off into the empty breath will take you to the operator of the empty breath – and what a relief it is to float in chaos instead of having to fit into the rigid world of the outward-facing senses.

Unlike the swing of the empty breath, but like surfing its waves, the operator of the empty breath is sensed inside and outside the body – or rather like there is no inside and outside. When you do not try to catch this abstractness, it feels like you are a fountain of sparkling joy. Sometimes it is easier to recognise outside, where the dense bodily feeling is not an obstacle. You will automatically be taken inside from there because the operator does not know one from the other. Next, you may start surfing the empty breath, feel the swing of it or hear its transparent sound (see the next paragraph).

Hearing/feeling the sound of the inner breath, you feel transparent, as if there is nothing to separate you from where you appear to be. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Hearing or feeling the sound of the empty breath makes you seem transparent as if nothing is separating you from other appearances in the world of the outward-facing senses. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

THE TRANSPARENT SOUND OF THE EMPTY BREATH
Just like the rhythm of bass is heard and felt in the body, so is the sound of the empty breath, which is like ‘so’ when it expands and ‘ham’ when it contracts.

Sometimes it is like this rhythmic sound of ‘so-ham’ comes from the nose, but at other times, it is sensed from an undefined space in the back of the head. And then again, since the sound does not seem to have a definable location, it is neither experienced to be inside nor outside the head. It may even appear to originate from an invisible space outside the body that has nothing to do with it.

In other words, feeling the sound of the empty breath is not a compelling experience because it cancels out the notion of being in a body – as if there is no definable border between the body and its apparent surrounding. For example, a sofa does not seem to differ from a body sitting there when deeply connected with the empty breath. Consequently, since there is no inside and outside, there is nothing to define a world where there seems to be more than one, wherefore it is seen as make-believe.

But like the set-up in a game world is the same whether you know it is fictional, a world where there seems to be more than one remains the same even though you sense it is an illusion. However, your relationship with it changes. Appearing there is pretence, like when you pretend to be someone in the world of a game. See hack #2 Pretending to be in a world of duality, you undo it.

ello-optimized-08ff975b

Do not get attached to the rhythm of the empty breath, because the feeling of the rhythm is related to the body, so it stops when the body does not function anymore.

Since a rhythm has a beginning and an end, it is best not to get attached to the rhythm of the empty breath, because it ends when the body stops to function. At that moment, it is better to merge with the indifference of the empty breath or the non rhythmic and very chaotic energy in its operator, so there is not something specific to stop the Enlightenment of that which is One from absorbing the nothingness of you. See hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One.

Via the transparent sound of the empty breath, you naturally float into glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. See hack #11 Enlightenment and its glimpses. The visual-minded will experience them as visions of light, and the auditory-minded as ethereal harmonies. However, if you are more emotional-minded, you may feel the vibration that Aum, Sohang, and The Word of God symbolise or taste its sweetness.

The connection with the empty breath is a state of not-knowing. Therefore, since there is no notion of separation, the apparent difference between past, now and future makes no difference.

It is not possible to illustrate the inner breath in its totality. This yon yang animation (please abstract from the holes) though may give you an idea of the simultaneously movement of the two waves inside the inner breath.

It is not possible to illustrate the empty breath in its totality. But this yin-yang animation (please ignore the holes in the waves and imagine it is completely full of yin-yang-like waves) may give you an idea about the simultaneous movement of the waves inside it.

THE CONNECTEDNESS WITH THE EMPTY BREATH IS A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
Nobody knows what the connectedness with the empty breath feels like because it is a state of not-knowing. So Alexius had to go back and forth between a state of not-knowing and the conscious experience of being someone to compile his distant memories of how the empty breath feels. Hence, his writing about it may seem patchy and confusing. If so, do not try to correct your disorientation but use it to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. See also Take-offs into the empty breath and How to ignite a take-off into the empty breath..

Please remember that even though the connectedness with the empty breath is impersonal, your memory of it is personal. Therefore, you may not remember it as Alexius.

If you are still confused, you are welcome to mail Alexius, although using your uncertainty to ignite a take-off into the empty breath is preferable because he can help neither you nor himself, as he sees nobody in need of help.

Hence you are better off reading about the empty breath until you can hardly stay awake. Then go to bed, forget what you read, close your eyes, and patiently wait for the empty breath. But your eyes do not have to be closed, and you do not have to go to bed to connect with the empty breath. Besides, you can sit anywhere in any position. You can also walk, run or talk. But you cannot bring about the empty breath by manipulating the physical breath or exercising any other form of control. Instead, it is the other way around. When you are not in control, the empty breath joins you.

A bicycle has nothing to do with the place, it takes you.

That is not to say that techniques cannot help you tone down the experience of being someone definitive so that your apparent existence in a tangible world is exposed as make-believe. But unfortunately, most forget that techniques have nothing to do with their accomplishments. Like the remote control, it has nothing to do with the music it triggers.

The swing of the inner breath may be experienced abruptly – like in this animation but probably a lot slower – in a s body with muscles problems from for example psoas or diafragma. There is no reason though trying to make it swing more smoothly by improving the condition of the body. The inner breath always adjust itself to the current condition of the body, so no matter how it moves it results in the same joy, providing you are not looking to be perfect. In a sick body, the swing of the empty breath might be experienced to come in bursts – a bit like in this animation but probably slower. However, no matter how restricted the swing of it is experienced, connecting with it will always entail indifference. Therefore, sticking to that, how the empty breath is experienced makes no difference.

APPENDIX: SURFING THE EMPTY BREATH TO HEAL YOUR PROBLEMS
Alexius usually join the flow of the empty breath without thinking about directions and whatnot because, in his case, it primarily results in a sense of indifference. However, it is possible to be pickier. For example, if you worry about a strange pain in the back, you can have it massaged by continuously surfing the whole wave behind you but not the wave in front of you in a vertical circle. It may not make the pain go away but surely the worry. And without that, the pain may be easy to fix. See Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix.

Should you want to be grounded, you surf the waves in a horizontal circle, passing through the abdomen or even lower. Suppose you want to enhance being impulsive. In that case, you surf all the way around the wave to the right inside a horizontal circle going around the head. If you want to be more calculated, surf the left wave instead.

In a circle that also is horizontal but around the chest, you can surf all around a wave in front of the chest to ease the restricted feeling caused by imagined emotions there. Surfing both waves in a horizontal circle around the head or stomach is excellent in the case of vertigo.

Sometimes problems like spasms are the body’s way of shaking parts into a position that benefits the whole. In such cases, spasms should be left course. But if that is not the case, you can use the empty breath to calm down the spasms.

Should you have tight hips, a blocked abdomen or spasms in the lower back, you surf the whole wave behind you and then the one in front of you in a horizontal circle in that area. You could also try surfing in a similar circle where the waves are not behind and in front of you but on your sides. The circle size, thus the waves, adjusts to the need for relaxing these areas.

The empty breath is also beneficial for alleviating allergy symptoms or the symptoms of IBS and COPD, for example. However, it may not heal these or the aforementioned physical sicknesses because Alexius’ Duality Hacks aims not to heal the body but the sick belief that someone is in it. Read more about that here. But since that frees the body from your domination, it often heals itself. That said, if this is what you want, it is best not to use the empty breath but instead be used by it and trust that it gives you what is in your best interest.

The look of these sound waves reminds me in some ways of how it feels to be connected with the inner breath.

The look of these sound waves reminds Alexius of how the connectedness with the empty breath often feels and how that makes him indifferent to the apparent differences in the world experienced outside him.

NOTE ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATIONS
Alexius searched the web for animations and still photos to illustrate the movements of the empty breath in how he remembers them. He does not know if the illustrators had the empty breath in mind when they made these images – but probably not. Except for the last three, the animations are grabbed from Electromagnetic Plasma Energy Light.

Notes on perceptions

Updated July 7, 2023

When experiences are not seen as something, there is nothing to be excited about. Consequently, there is no expectation of something to prevent the bliss of nothing. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But regarding the below notes, you may benefit from reading Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you perceive your reaction to an experience as ‘it is what it is,’ you are in sync with the brain’s script. But if you start analysing your response and conclude, ‘I know what it is,’ you are out of sync. You cannot know anything because you do not know what you are and never will because you are a fantasy of the brain. Nor can you know what is real because everything is unreal in the brain’s fantasy. Read about the brain’s script in Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Your experiences have no meaning, nor are they yours. It is an illusion created by the brain, which thinks up experiences that make you believe you see, hear, feel and taste something interesting from outside you. It is easy to deceive you into believing that because if not, it is obvious the brain also thinks you up.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The image you have made of yourself only exists in the impression you imagine you make in the world. And that only seems real because of what you imagine it does to you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The experiences you believe in having will continue as scripted by the brain, regardless of how you perceive them. But since the brain out of love injects you with shots of happiness, it is in your best interest to have a perception in sync with the brain because otherwise, you do not notice the shots.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Non-duality is one perpetual present, which, in a world of duality, is simulated by a state of not-knowing where experiences are not perceived to make a difference.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since non-duality is formless, thus without a beginning and end, it is everything. However, that does not mean it includes the experience of duality. On the contrary, formlessness cannot be experienced, so everything experienced is fake. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

You do not have to use the exact words in the perception mentioned in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teaching regarding the duality flow, denying, taking a break, or forgetting duality. Instead of saying, ‘it is what it is,’ you can say, ‘Shit happens,’ or ‘So what.’ As long as the essence is alike, the perception works the same. That said, the perception ‘I know what it is’ only works in the context that you appear special. You are still what and where the brain wants you to be, which you do not try to change when you go with the perception, ‘it is what it is.’

You leave the brain’s script momentarily or for good by choosing the perception’ dunno what it is.’ Although you are still what and where the brain has planned, you do not perceive experiencing it as something, so you are in the bliss of nothing.

Read more about these perceptions in Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain.

To uphold the perception ‘I know what it is,’ you got to suppress your actual response to an experience. But it never works as intended because you are not all-seeing. The two other perceptions do not involve denial. On the contrary, your response to something cannot be perceived as ‘it is what it is’ or ‘dunno what it is’ if you deny it. Yet, those perceptions do not work when you intend to get something over and done.

However, that can be solved by perceiving the response to your plan as ‘it is what it is.’ It flushes out any idea of achieving something specific. And if your response is perceived as ‘dunno what it is,’ there is not something to accomplish because you are in the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since every effort to improve yourself is based on the belief in being wrong, doing something about it enhances this belief and therefore suffering. But it suits you perfectly because it manifests you as something instead of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Do not hide your reaction to something by making a story in which you are unimpressed or detached. Instead, feel your response, so you can decide what it means and perceive that as ‘it is what is.’ Since this expands the interpretation of your reaction, it is not limited to being singular. Instead, it is twofold, making you feel fulfilled in a world of duality. Therefore, since you do not search for anything, the Enlightenment of that which is One set in. Read more about that in Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

The more you perceive your responses to your experiences as ‘it is what it is,’ the more carefree you feel. Perhaps so much that your perception automatically changes to ‘dunno what it is,’ which may bring about glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. Read here how to see, hear, feel or taste glimpses of Enlightenment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Your perception syncs with the brain’s script when you do not feel something specific.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You feel fulfilled when a duality pair, such as love and hate, dynamically interact. However, since the interplay takes away the sense of control, many people choose to separate love and hate from each other by projecting romanticised love onto one person and iron-fisted hate onto another. But insisting on this division, they miss the joy of togetherness because it does not come from a singular but dualistic feeling.

Fortunately, this is corrected when the meaning they have assigned to love or hatred is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ For example, if they have classified hate as a weakness, this perception reveals it is paired with strength. Thus you get the joy of togetherness. Besides, other people are set free from the conceptual way you used to look at them.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Feeling good is not about making the body relax but how you perceive your reaction to its condition. For example, if your response is irritation, you assume your body is its source. But relaxing your body will not make you feel better psychologically because the problem is your reaction is singular. So if you perceive irritation as ‘it is what it is, you see it is coupled with pleasure, and they depend on each other to be genuinely experienced. Hence you cannot have irritation without pleasure and vice versa.

Therefore, since irritation contains pleasure, you do not need to distance yourself from it by blaming the body for your mood. So besides you feeling free from the body, it feels free from its supposed link to non-physical matters so that it can deal with itself materially.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel sad and do not experience the gladness it contains, you have chosen to perceive your reaction to something as ‘I know what it is.’ instead of ‘it is what it is.Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

To perceive anything as ‘I know what it is’ is as crazy as thinking you know where you are in a dream. You are nowhere but in your bed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot explain feelings away. They will never disappear or be transformed through meditation or something else. But if you stand by your emotions, you can perceive them as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals that fear, for example, constantly interacts with fearless. Therefore, since you are neither afraid nor unworried, but in their constant interaction, thus in the duality flow, you do not want to escape fear because, without it, you are not revitalised by the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A feeling can only be known when explained. And since that makes it mental, you feel benumbed when you claim, ‘I know what it is.’ To compensate for that, you indulge in stories of a better world.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In a computer game, everything is predetermined. No matter what you choose, the subsequent events are prearranged, likewise in a world of duality. You can choose between different stories going on inside your head. But regardless of which one you settle for, it carries on as scripted by the brain. You cannot change that. However, you are free to perceive your reaction as you see fit.

If you perceive your reaction as ‘it is what it is,’ the response is experienced as two-fold. And since you are in a world of duality, you feel unified. But if you perceive your reaction as I know what it is,’ it is established as singular, thus separated from duality. Hence you do not feel together but alone. Unfortunately, most think the solution is to get better at establishing singularity, thus eliminating duality.

Yet, it is the other way around. Playing the game of duality, you confirm non-duality because it is formless, thus endless, so there is no other reason for the experience of duality. Consequently,  you feel connected.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being in sync with the brain’s script feels like using the right tools for an assignment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you do not identify yourself as someone definitive but are relative to the present moment, there is no need to make specific opinions to confirm a specific personality. Thus every moment is the perfect moment. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

You can alleviate the symptoms with air purifiers, pills, sprays and drops if you have allergies. However, you may still feel depressed about being allergic. No worries. If you perceive your depressed reaction to your allergies as ‘it is what it is,’ you realise it is neither caused by your allergy symptoms nor something else. Its purpose is to interact with joy so those feelings can define each other. In their constant interaction, you are vitalised by the duality flow. However, that is not a miracle cure for allergies. But since you do not bundle it with depression, it no longer feels so heavy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since your reaction to the internal comments about the world generally is singular and therefore cut off from its complementary part, you appear to judge yourself and others as incomplete. Hence you get the urge to improve the world to feel complete.

Fortunately, the rules that your single-minded reaction seem to establish do not need to be identified to free yourself and others from your limitation. Instead, you perceive your present reaction to an internal comment about somebody as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals your opinion is not singular but twofold. If you do not notice the elements of this duality pair, you still cannot help but laugh being in their interaction because it feels as natural as breathing in and out. Hence the interplay of opposites, like waves in the ocean, hastily but without haste wash away your narrow-minded opinions.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you see a movie, it is not you but the brain commenting it internally. But it hopes you believe it is your comment, and you do it because otherwise, nobody is watching a movie except in the brain’s fantasy. So if you want to expose the brain’s deception, do not engage in any comment in your headspace suggesting there is something outside you that establishes you as somebody substantial. Not being confirmed as somebody by laughing at the comments, for example, nobody witnesses the existence of the brain’s story about duality. So even though the comments go on, while you are in a state of not-knowing, the brain’s story falls apart if you remain in that state. See hack #9.11.

You could also perceive your reaction to the brain’s comments as ‘it is what it is.’ It reveals your response is twofold, wherefore you are in sync with the brain’s story of duality, thus in the duality flow on the way to non-duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel something is missing in music compressed into an MP3 file, you can get the same music in a non-compressed version. Should that not feel satisfying, you can get better speakers, wires and whatnot. And if that is not good enough, live music might satisfy you.

But no matter how the music is presented, it will never satisfy you if your response is singular. This is because everything comes in pairs in a world of duality, so you cannot feel complete unless your reaction to the world is twofold. Therefore, when your response to the music is dual, you feel satisfied, regardless it is compressed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Everything in a world of duality unfolds as scheduled. Still, if you neither hang onto a negative nor positive response to it but go with their interaction, you are in the duality flow, thus feeling fulfilled by duality’s interplay of opposites. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Seeing the sun going up and down is a hallucination. »The sun stays positioned at the centre of our solar system. So it does not rise and set. But it appears to rise and set because the Earth rotates on its axis,« according to science.

This rotation happens at 1.000 miles an hour. So whether you believe the sun rise and set or whatnot, you rotate with the Earth at the same speed, besides hurtling around the sun at 67.000 miles an hour, thus in alignment with the universe’s playbook.

Likewise, you go along with the brain’s game of duality. You cannot change that. However, you believe in knowing better, thus trying to change the brain’s duality scheme per your singularity philosophy. But since everything is twofold in the game of duality, singularity entails feeling incomplete. On the other hand, if you do not try to manage the brain’s playbook of duality, the constant interaction of opposites makes you feel complete.

Being in sync with the brain’s manuscript is not about responding positively to it but not hiding your reaction because your response is revealed twofold when exposed. For example, if you feel upset because the scheme does not unfold per your ideas of fairness, you do not disassociate yourself from feeling troubled. Instead, you perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that reveals it is coupled with its counterpart, you go from feeling troubled to untroubled, and then you do not sense the specifics in this duality pair anymore but their interaction. Since that is the togetherness of the duality flow, you are in sync with the brain’s script of duality.

The duality flow is very active, so you do not get it by sitting and meditating but by being physical activity in a rhythmic and uncontrolled fashion, for example, Nordic Walking. Since doing that makes it hard to initiate something yourself, it is great for going with the duality flow. That said, the duality flow is not physical, so you feel it in the psychological sphere, not the body.

Over time the duality flow goes to non-duality. That is the end of all experiences because it takes more than one to be aware of something. Consequently, you are not there and never were anywhere because that requires more than one. Still, you are everywhere because non-duality is formless, thus endless.

Notes on feelings

Updated July 4, 2023

Feeling wrong is your decision because your emotions are shaped by how you perceive your reaction to something. But if you decide not to perceive your reaction as specific, the brain automatically takes over and perceives it as ‘it is what it is,’ revealing your reaction as twofold because the brain operates in pairs. Therefore, as sadness is paired with happiness, you are in the interplay of happiness and sadness. This polarity, like any other, makes you feel complete. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

»If you’re sitting in a safe and comfortable position, close your eyes and try to feel your heart beating in your chest. Can you, without moving your hands to take your pulse, feel each movement and count its rhythm? Or do you struggle to detect anything at all? This simple test is just one way to assess your ‘interoception’ – your brain’s perception of your body’s state, transmitted from receptors on all your internal organs … There’s a constant communication dialogue between the brain and the viscera (internal organs).«

The above test, to see if the connection between the brain and the body works, is from the Guardian, Interoception: the hidden sense that shapes wellbeing. Like in Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, the article concludes that many people have cut off the link between the body and the brain. And since the latter controls the body, it is left without guidance.

According to Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, this connection must be re-established so the body parts do not act independently of the brain but work as a group governed by it. However, the article in the Guardian has another conclusion. It says you need to master the body, and in doing so, you get in touch with its signals and, thus, your feelings because they are in the body.

But believing you are the master is the root of the problem. You are nothing but a product fabricated and conducted by the brain. Besides, imagining combining psychological feelings with the body’s physical sensations entails suffering because psychological feelings seem heavy when perceived as substantial instead of airy.

In other words, you are not a boss but a puppet mastered by the brain. That is why you feel vitalised when playing by the brain’s rules of duality, like you follow the rules of a computer game. And you feel fatigued trying to make your rules fit into the brain’s set-up, which is to go with the duality flow effortlessly.

However, if you do not want to play the game of duality, you are free to leave it. But you cannot do that unless you play it. And since participating involves feeling it dualistically, we go on in the below looking at the twofoldness of feelings.

As usual, we do not begin somewhere specific or end with a conclusion. Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings have nothing to establish because they know they are as illusionary as anything else in a world of duality. Nevertheless, reading the below ragbag of clips may help you see that this includes what you believe in being.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In the game of duality, the brain is the game master. You cannot change that, but if you follow the game master, you have plenty of fun in its game of duality. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

This article is not about Enlightenment or the reality of oneness but twofoldness because you have opted for duality instead of non-duality. To undo that decision entirely, you must live by duality completely. Fortunately, it is easy when you do not suppress aggression, for example, but go with the interaction of that and peace, like breathing in and out.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot breathe out before you breathe in, and vice versa. In other words, you cannot have one without the other. That is how duality works. Everything comes in pairs. Acknowledging the nature of duality, you feel complete. But, on the other hand, you feel incomplete when you divide the duality pairs into separate elements.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you justify your unpleasant emotions with something judged as flawed in the world, your unwanted feelings are buried in a mental drama of fairness. For example, feeling angry is removed from your awareness and replaced by a mental story you tell to convince others, thus yourself, that the world mistreats you. This spin also hides that you fear the world will get back at you for blaming it for your anger.

Often this is too shameful to admit that you fear the world. So to save face when you feel attacked, you repeat the story of being unfairly treated to prove you are innocent. However, to uphold your innocence, you must continuously suppress your feelings of selfishness, greed, anger and envy by pointing out those attributes in others so they feel ashamed. You are very good at that, and your friends know it. But they do not expose you because they also look for someone to attack to feel off the hook. That is why they recognise it in you.

To hide that you hate everybody, you and like-minded ones meet in special groups where you hug and share in a collectively agreed way of loving each other. Yet, it is not done out of love but to conceal the hate for each other. Naturally, nobody wants to acknowledge this, least of all do they want to talk about it in the group because if you do not censor yourself to speak and act within the language established as love by the group, or its mentor, you are expelled. And then you have nowhere to go to find relief from your despair.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Negativity is just as crucial as positivity. A computer, for example, only functions when connected to the negative and positive poles in an electrical wire. Twofoldness is the name of the game, which you must adhere to if you want to be in a world of duality. Also, if you wish to leave the game because you cannot do that without playing it. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

When somebody triggers an old feeling of rejection in the special self, it first interprets it as an attack. Next, it justifies feeling rejected by the perceived attack. Therefore, since feeling abandoned seems to originate in the attacker, the special self concludes it does not come from itself. If the perceived attacker exposes this self-deception, the special self points out something from the past to make the attacker feel rejected. Hence the special self is off the hook and can rest assured that it is loved and the attacker is not.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you want to undo the belief in duality, denying feelings by focusing on their energies is not helpful because the experience of duality is based on feeling it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The main reason most suppress negative feelings is that they fear they are dangerous to express. For example, when Alexius was a kid, his father beat him if he said or did something judged offensive. Thus Alexius was afraid to voice his negative emotions accidentally.

But just like the negative pole in electricity is as important as the positive one. You need negative feelings as much as positive ones. When you avoid the negative ones, you deteriorate and blossom if you approve of them. Read more about that in Alexius’ Childhood.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot experience something as positive without judging something else as negative. Thus the negative thoughts are a confirmation of positivity and vice versa. That is the way of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Non-duality cannot be experienced because seeing something takes more than one. On the other hand, a world of duality is divided into pairs of opposing elements so that it can be seen. But that means duality excludes non-duality and vice versa. Still, many try to replicate non-duality in a world of duality by being solely positive, for example. However, this singleness is not a confirmation of non-duality but separation, thus duality, as it is based on excluding negativity.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not need to balance breathing in and out. It happens by itself when you do not intervene. Likewise, you do not need to find a balance between body and brain. If you do not interfere, the brain takes care of the body so you, in a laid-back fashion, can enjoy being someone in its game of duality. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Feeling down without pairing it with going up, you feel sad. Solely going up, not pairing it with feeling down, you feel insecure. But if you go with the interaction of up and down, you are not definitive but relative. Thus you feel neither happy nor sad but happy/sad. However, only for a moment because another soon replaces this duality pair. Hence you keep feeling vitalised by the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To feel something definitive is to separate. Consequently, you stop separating by not insisting on feeling something specific. You can do that by perceiving the meaning you have assigned to your response to an experience as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals what you decided it meant is not set in stone because its counterpart complements it. Therefore, if you thought you were sad, now you are also happy/sad.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Whatever you plan, visualise or realise, everything plays out as programmed by the brain. You have no say in that. But it is your choice how to perceive it. Therefore, if you feel faulty, you have chosen to perceive the brain’s play as wrong.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you hand your interpretation of something over to the brain, it will shape it so you feel entertained because its purpose is to amuse you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you are full of thoughts, you are probably busy assigning meaning to your experiences. However, none of your experiences means anything. There is nothing to learn from them, whether they seem dreamy, mundane or spiritual. Their only purpose is to entertain you, which they do when perceived as twofold. Being in the duality flow, there is no need to look for thoughts to explain them. Hence you do not feel stressed. On the contrary, you feel amused.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To prevent being touched by the duality flow, you ensure everything in your environment is adjusted to the rules of Feng Shui or another totalitarian system. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Suffering comes not from something but from how you interpret your response. However, you do not fix it by making another interpretation. You probably choose a distinct one, which is the root of the misery because everything comes in pairs in a world of duality. In other words, you do not need to change your interpretation but perceive it as ‘it is what it is,’ thus seeing your interpretation is not definitive but twofold.

This does not mean you have gotten rid of suffering, but that you recognise it is coupled with contentment. However, you neither feel specifically hurt nor content. Instead, you feel vitalised by their constant interaction, which is the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Nobody but yourself has the power to make you suffer. Therefore if you suffer, it is because you see yourself as somebody. In other words, do not try to be anybody if you do not want to suffer.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Trouble always follows in the footsteps of somebody, whereas nothing but bliss comes in the wake of nobody.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To feel is to not exist because it takes more than one to feel something, and life is that which is One. In other words, it is impossible to feel something unless you imagine being in a world where there seems to be more than one. Can you feel it? Of course, you can. You are reading this. That means you think it is possible to be and have more than that which is One, and you uphold this illusion as ‘real’ by feeling it.

You undo the mistake by acknowledging what you feel. Next, you perceive your reaction to it as ‘it is what it is,’ revealing your response is not singular but twofold. Then, you do not focus on the two elements of the duality pair but go with their interaction, which is the duality flow. Remaining in the flow, you feel so complete that the experience of more than one is eventually dismissed as real.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Those who like to talk about others’ emotions have not felt them because if something is felt as it is, it is unveiled as nothing. Hence there is not something to talk about.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you feel like an outsider, you do not solve it by blaming others but by solely feeling wrong. Since that means nothing can contrast what you feel, it cannot be defined. Consequently, you feel nothing but the bliss of emptiness. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

The basic self does not need to make a perception that seems to alter or transform the brain’s script into something better. Unlike the special self, it does not want to create, modify or change anything. So although it may feel scared when the script brings it down, it also feels joy because it perceives its reaction to going down as ‘it is what it is,’ which reveals there is no fear without joy and vice versa.

Read about the basic and special self in Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

Going with the interaction of fear and joy, the basic self gets the thrill of the duality flow. But the special self does not get that because it separates fear and joy, so it can suppress fear from its awareness to feel joy solely. However, it cannot feel it when there is no fear to outline joy. That is why it always feels like something is missing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not get rid of an emotional problem by suppressing it but by feeling it. That is not done by sharing it with friends or focusing on the cause with the help of a psychiatrist. These approaches disassociate you from your feeling. And you cannot get rid of it if you do not feel it.

Feeling it all by yourself until you are nothing but your emotional problem, there is not something left to define you have a problem or anything else. Consequently, you are in a state of not-knowing. Read more about that in A state of not-knowing and the after-effect.

Like a criminal, you do not think in terms of right or wrong when returning from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone. But unlike a criminal, you do not replace these categories with a calculation of what you can get away with. Instead, you remain in the interaction of right or wrong, thus the duality flow. In that flow, nothing disturbs you from falling into a state of not-knowing now and then. Read more about that in A state of not-knowing and the after-effect.

Alexius’ childhood

Updated May 8, 2023

During childhood, we learn to suppress the emotions that makes our parents unconfortable. Read more about that here. But everything comes in pairs in a world of duality, so you feel disconnected if you suppress hate, for example, to appear lovable. On the other hand, you feel connected if not perceiving love and hate as distinctive feelings opposing each other, but feelings in a pair collaborating to define each other. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

This article is a continuation of ‘What if…?’ versus ‘it is what it is’ about the perception ‘it is what it is,’  which reveals every experience is dual. Settling with twofoldness, you feel so complete in a world of duality that you eventually forget to remember it, thus not hiding it is an illusion.

Our present perception of ourselves and others is often based on one we made in the past. Alexius interpreted many experiences in his childhood as scary. And he blamed something outside him for having caused the experiences he interpreted as horrific, thus disassociating himself from feeling horrible. Therefore he could hide behind an image of being on top of it. Especially because he also separated himself from his affectionate feelings by projecting them onto something he decided to see as wonderful. In other words, he divided the world into something he saw as horrible or wonderful to suppress his feelings.

That seemed to work until Alexius got older and sometimes felt so bothered by something deemed horrible that his suppressed fear flared out in verbal attacks on others. Although there was no physical violence, his outbursts seemed as wild as when his father lost his temper and hit him across the dinner table. Therefore, since Alexius felt ashamed for being as hostile as his father, he hid his hostility from his awareness by projecting it onto his stomach. Actually, he started hiding his hostility like that as a child to avoid saying something that would make his father burst out in a rage so violent that it could have been the end of Alexius.

Instead, Alexius tried to hurt his father through silence, which seemed efficient. On top of that, Alexius looked sad and sick to make his father feel guilty for being so violent (read more about making others feel guilty here). However, that did not work on his father – only on Alexius because he unconsciously knew they were the same. After all, both used each other as a scapegoat for their inner demons. But if his father was aware of that, Alexius does not know.

In 1972 Alexius returned from the Enlightenment of that which is One as nobody. Hence he could only remain in a world where there seems to be more than one by pretending to be somebody. Actually, that also applies to the years before that because we are nothing pretending to be something. But since he was not aware of it before he bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One, this article is based on his memories of believing to be somebody instead of pretending it. However, as a child, he already began to grasp that everything is pretence. Read more about pretending in Duality Hack #2 Pretending to be twofold undoes duality. Be aware that the story of Alexius’ childhood is a compressed version, where his progress may seem quick, but it was not. Nevertheless, it was effortless after having bid welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One. The photo of Alexius is restored digitally. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Nor does he know if his description of his childhood is correct because it is done in retrospect.* Besides, he is neither a physician nor a psychologist. But it seems he disguised his reactions of fear, aggression and shame to events in his childhood behind the physical problems arising from his congenital disability in the vertebrae.

One of these physical problems was that the malfunctioning vertebra disturbed a nerve in the stomach, making it bloated. That made it easy for Alexius to imagine using it to hide the shame he felt when he, petite and adorable, was exploited by his mother to get her the bodily affection her husband could not provide. And due to Alexius’ bloated stomach, the diaphragm hardened. And since it is the primary mover of the breath, his chest turned to stone. So there he imagined hiding his naivety and natural generosity, so his empathy would not cause him to be preyed on in the future.

Alexius grew up in a war zone in the sense that he never knew when and where his father would hit him again. Since his mother did nothing to help Alexius, he felt terrified and alone. To disassociate himself from how bad this made him feel, Alexius decided to see his father as cruel and himself as kind. But by disassociating viciousness from himself, he also separated himself from his gentleness because viciousness defines it. Thus he always looked for something gentle outside him. However, what he saw he mostly judged as vicious. Finally, Alexius realised that the reason for this was his suppressed darkness. Fortunately, not hiding it revealed lightness because light and darkness are like two sides of the same coin in a world of duality. This polarity, and those that naturally followed, made him feel complete. So there was no fear of evil and thus no need to hide feeling it by perceiving the world as vicious. Consequently, the apparent difference between himself and the world stopped making a difference. Perhaps that is why Alexius is both a non-teacher and a non-student of Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

Fortunately, he got in touch with his compassion again later in life. But that is another story, so we go on with Alexius and his father, who he perceived as the devil responsible for the evil he experienced in himself. Since Alexius did not want to realise it was his anger he saw in his father, he hid his inner demon in the neck, weakened by the malfunctioning vertebra. But he also did it because he assumed that only as an angel would he get his parent’s love. However, since his parents only loved the divine image he made by suppressing everything devilish, he felt lonely and complained about not being seen.

When the devil behind his false front of sweetness popped up, he interpreted the psychological disturbance as a physical issue in the neck where he initially imagined hiding his devilish. Therefore, the physical problem became an unsolvable mystery diagnosed as a psychosomatic disorder, hiding the helpless little boy, full of sorrow, rage and fear from Alexius’ awareness.

In Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix, you can read more about using the body to hide your feelings from your awareness.

When you do not try to hide sexual lust, grievances, envy, anger, negativity or whatever you consider politically incorrect, your thoughts and feelings about something are seen in pairs. Negative thoughts, for example, are coupled with positive ones. You already know this because when one part of you senses something as good, immediately another part sees it as bad. If you do not try to decide between good and bad but join their interplay, you feel as entertained by this polarity as any other. The more you experience everything in pairs, the less dangerous it is to be angry. Actually, you feel relieved being angry because it contains calmness. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

But after he became someone compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One when he was about 20 years old (see Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One), his two distinctive perceptions of the world as horrible or wonderful were revealed as not separated but together as a pair. So in his unpleasantness, there was pleasantness and vice versa. He did not hold onto the specific feelings in this polarity but enjoyed their interplay.

Therefore, since he did not feel fragmented but completed, there were no specific feelings to project onto the body. And those he once had projected onto it were revealed in the psychological sphere where a feeling is not experienced as something tangible but an intangible element in constant interaction with its opposite, for example, helpless and powerful, sorrow and delight, rage and calm, fear and confidence. Fifty years later, Alexius named the constant interaction of opposites the duality flow.

The higher you aim, the lower you must prepare to go because everything comes in pairs of opposing elements in a world of duality.

Since the duality flow reduced his psychosomatic disorders to physical issues, they could be fixed physically. However, congenital disabilities cannot be completely sorted. So he still has fallen arches, for example. Yet, everything has been solved to the extent that the experience of being someone inside a body has become more comfortable. Read more about that in Sadness is a close friend of gladness.

Nevertheless, out of habit, an old single-minded point of view is often Alexius’ first choice when confronted with something new. But fortunately, he soon remembers that everything comes in pairs of opposing elements to define each other in a world of duality. So then, as from an invisible crack in his conditioned feeling of disgust, a sense of liking unfolds.

Going with the interplay of this polarity, it soon fades out to be replaced by others, for example, humility and boldness, serenity and lust, calmness and confusion, union and separation, etc. But the duality flow is so gratifying that you do not sense when the interplay of one polarity is over, and another sets off. The beginning and end are another interaction of opposites that makes him feel adequate.

Not trying to control the future, thoughts become unimportant. Hence they turn into insignificant noise in the background. Read more about that here.

When Alexius takes a break in the primordial forest of La Gomera, he does not label his dualistic reaction to this. Being someone somewhere is enough to feel the togetherness of twofoldness, thus going with the duality flow and having glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One. Photo © Alexius Jørgensen.

The above may suggest you remember the opposing elements in the duality pairs you encounter. But the duality flow is about the interaction of opposites in a duality pair, not its specific elements – like one does not need to label the sides of a coin to sense its twofoldness. That is why thoughts are reduced to insignificant jabber in the background.

In a world of duality, a holistic experience is not singular but dualistic. That is why wholeness comes from twofoldness. But in non-duality there is no wholeness to experience because it takes more than one to be aware of something.

To sum up, even though the experience of duality is imaginary (read more about that here), within its apparent reality, you feel incomplete when separating the duality pairs into distinct elements. But going with their interaction makes you feel complete – like you feel fulfilled by the interplay of breathing in and out.

You do not have to be someone compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One to feel completed by twofoldness. You only need to perceive your specific opinion of something as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that reveals it is twofold – for example, happy/sad or angry/calm – you get the satisfaction of duality. We explore that in the following article, You must play the game of duality to hack it. This article ends with a note about doing that when compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One.

Sometimes Alexius forgets what and where he is, thus bidding welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One. However, when he returns to the awareness of being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, his appearance is not Enlightened. Still, Alexius is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is OnePhoto © Alexius Jørgensen.

SOMEONE WHO IS COMPARED TO THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE
Bidding welcome the Enlightenment of that which is One is a bit like getting to the point of orgasm. Nothing else matters. But whereas the desire for something drives an orgasm, the absence of something fuels the Enlightenment of that which is One.

That does not mean you must become purer by avoiding sex or something else, nor must you be harmonious, physically fit or breathe in a special way. All that is needed is to forget what and where you are because the Enlightenment of that which is One does not recognise something definable.

For the same reason, the Enlightenment of that which is One does not change anything in your appearance in a world where there seems to be more than one. However, Alexius keeps getting glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One, so he is constantly reminded that a world where there seems to be more than one is make-believe.

Thus he feels like in a roleplay, where one acts out a role in a story governed by the gamemaster, which, in the case of a world where there seems to be more than one, is not somebody else but one’s brain. Being aligned with the gamemaster, the perception ‘it is what it is’ comes naturally. Therefore, since the interpretation of past events loses their specific meaning, the past does not make one feel stuck in a mental combo of physical and non-physical issues.

See Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain about the brain as the gamemaster. And read Duality Hack #7 Physical & non-physical issues do not mix about the unfortunate belief in a connection between the body and mental issues. Check Duality Hack #11 Going without distance to non-duality for glimpses of Enlightenment. They are something you see, hear, feel or taste, whereas there is nobody to experience the Enlightenment of that which is One since that requires more than One. See Duality Hack #10 The Enlightenment of that which is One. That is why there is no sense of magic or anything else in the Enlightenment of that which is One – only in the glimpses of it.

To be continued in You must play the game of duality to have it undone.

*) Alexius has never talked with his parents about this. As a teenager, he left home for good. First, he moved into a hippie commune and then into an old wooden house next to a gipsy camp until he became a monk for four years. He has no education, by the way. The psychological zone is anywhere but in material things

Updated September 19, 2023

Healing the psychological part of a psychosomatic combo takes no time. All psychological feelings are fleeting when looked at where they are conceived, namely in the mental zone. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Your image of yourself in the psychological sphere has nothing to do with the body, which feels attacked when you try to alter it with your mental ideas.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The brain creates the psychological sphere, the body, and the world of duality. But just like you do not drive a car in the factory where it is made, you do not experience the psychological sphere, the body, and the world of duality in the brain. Instead, the body is experienced as something substantial in a tangible world. But determining where the psychological zone is experienced is more problematic because most try integrating it with the body.

However, that is not how the brain has set it up. The psychology sphere is immaterial, thus the opposite of the material body. They interact to define each other, like breathing in and out, but they can never be combined. Accepting this twofoldness, the duality flow continues uninterrupted, and you feel vigorous.

 ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The psychological zone is so airy that everything is fleeting unless projected on something perceived as substantial.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When swimming, the water touching your body feels good, but not if it gets inside it. Likewise, the body enjoys the psychological sphere but avoids being integrated with it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is a waste of time looking for your psychological emotion in the body because it is solely physical, thus without anything psychological or spiritual. You could also say that the body is visible, whereas non-physical issues are invisible, and visibility and invisibility do not blend.

So if you have projected emotional issues onto the body with the assumption that you can hide them there, you better start correcting this fantasy by recognising them where they were conceived, namely in the psychological sphere. Facing them there, they gently open up and reveal they are not singular but twofold. Thus there is no specific psychological issue to bother you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The psychological sphere is anywhere but in bodily feelings. Thus you are close to it at sleep. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Since non-duality is formless, thus endless, the experience of duality is fantasy. Therefore, since the psychological and physical world is imaginative, everything experienced, including the body, is nonmaterial. However, since Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings are written within the context of duality where everything comes in contrast to define each other, the experience of the physical world is perceived as substantial and the psychological world unsubstantial, although they are immaterial.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings, the psychological area, sphere or zone is also called the mental area, sphere or zone. It is very airy, thus anywhere but in material things. Hence bringing back into awareness the psychological feelings you have projected onto the solidness of your body is not done by facing them there but in the non-material mental sphere.

In this airy sphere, everywhere around you, a psychological feeling does not seem heavy, like when imagined combined with the body. Thus one look at it is enough to make it vanish and reveal its opposite. For example, one look at hate replaces it with love, which, when looked at, replaces hatred. They are constantly interacting to define each other.

That is the way of duality. Everything comes in pairs of opposing opposites. Being in sync with this twofoldness, you feel complete in the psychological zone. But not if you eliminate one part of a duality pair by projecting it onto your body or the world or imagining uniting the opposing parts.

The opposing elements in a duality pair can neither be united nor separated because they depend on each other to be defined, like two sides of a coin. Therefore, if you mess with the interaction of the opposing elements in a duality pair, you break up duality, thus feeling broken.

In other words, if you want to feel whole in a world of duality, you never hold onto a specific thought or feeling. Instead, you view them as part of a duality pair in which they interact with their opposing element to define what it is and be defined by that. This movement, called the duality flow, makes you feel complete, thus not needing to hide non-physical issues in the body, wherefore the biological system is free to keep the body sound as it was made to.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you do not feel complete, you have broken a duality pair. However, that is impossible because you cannot experience a world of duality without them. In other words, feeling incomplete is like having vertigo. Read more about vertigo here. It is not a matter of the world’s appearance but how you sense it psychologically. Thus you correct it in the psychological zone by perceiving your reaction to feeling incomplete as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that reveals your response is not singular but twofold, you feel complete.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot explain the world in this image because its elements are mixed impossibly, except in fantasy. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

To get into the duality flow, you do not use the perception ‘it is what it is’ on a house you see but on your reaction to it. Hereafter, the response is revealed as twofold in the mental zone. Hence you are in the duality flow.

However, if your reaction triggered old feelings projected onto the body, you do not perceive your response to the house but to your upset body as ‘it is what it is.’ Again having your reaction revealed as twofold.

But since most do not want to get into the duality flow, they perceive their reaction as ‘I know what it is,’ thus establishing it as a fact and yourself as in the know. Read more about this mix-up here. If you want to escape this imprisonment of yourself and others, you perceive your reaction to ‘I know what it is‘ as ‘it is what it is.’

So it is not about finding the cause of your problem but perceiving your reaction to it as ‘it is what it is’ because the root of the problem is that you are not living by duality, which is corrected by having a twofold reaction to the experience of duality.

To see any reaction in a world of duality is twofold, you do not actually have to perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ It is a palpable tool Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings recommend to expose something translucent: a singular thought or feeling contains its counterpart, and they constantly interact to define each other. All you have to do to join this interaction, which is the duality flow, is to look at a singular reaction in the psychological zone. Then it opens up and reveals it contains its counterpart, wherefore you feel complete. Read more about the process in You undo the belief in duality by enjoying it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you do not project psychological issues onto the body, they do not seem hidden from your awareness. Hence you can perceive your reaction to them as ‘it is what it is,’ revealing your response as twofold. Therefore, since there is no specific reaction to confirm a definitive problem, there is no suffering to project onto the body.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you project a particular psychological issue, for example, hate, onto your body, it seems removed from the psychological sphere. Therefore, since its complementary part, love, is alone, it cannot interact with hate to be outlined, so love confuses you. In other words, when one part of a duality pair is imagined as removed, you experience brain fog.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Like a strawn is built to deal with fluid and not tangible things, the body deals with material and not immaterial matters. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The paradox in trying to heal a psychosomatic disorder is that it reinforces the psychological fear of the physical symptoms, thus the impression that psychological and physical issues are linked and result in a psychosomatic illness that is real.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When physical symptoms of illness trigger psychological memories of endangerment, and those are imagined as linked, the physical symptoms are perceived to cause a threat. Hence a fusion of physical and psychological reality seems established. However, the body is material, thus unable to integrate non-material issues except in fantasy. Therefore, to heal the psychosomatic disorder, you must look at where the imagination is made, namely in the mental zone.

One look is enough to undo the imaginary link between physical and non-physical issues because fantasies are fleeting when you do not imagine them established as substantial by the body. Since the same applies to all thoughts and feelings in the mental zone, another look at the feeling of endangerment is enough to see through it, thus realising it is coupled with protection, with endangerment to define each other. But since that is done in constant interaction, endangerment does not get sticky. Consequently, not a threat.

However, when the psychological part of a psychosomatic disorder is dissolved, the physical aspect of the imagined fusion remains the same in the body. But maybe not for long because when the physical symptom is not imagined mixed up with a psychological problem, the body’s biological system is free to deal with the physical symptom as it was made to do.

To sum up: When you appear sick, and your concern about the physical symptom triggers a past sense of danger that you interpret as caused by the present physical symptom, you develop a psychosomatic disorder. But since the body cannot be fused with non-physical issues, this imagined combo is only in the mental zone where just one look exposes the supposed link as fake.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If pain in the mind is not denied the words that seems to cause the pain cannot hurt, but words projected onto the body – your own or somebody else´s – seems to be able to hurt and confirm the believe, that you are a person to be defined by time and space.

Feelings or thoughts you do not like, you hide from your awareness by imagining dumping them in the body. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Think of a movie as a metaphor for the physical. You cannot see the mental zone in it. It is something you add. Yet, it does not change anything but your perception of the film.

In other words, in the context of the world where we appear, everything is made of matter. However, contrary to a body in a movie, our bodies have feelings – but only physical ones. If they seem psychological, you have projected them onto the body to make them appear more significant. It could also be that you want to hide psychological issues from your awareness behind something physical, as described above.

But just like nothing changes in a movie, regardless of what you project onto it, nothing is transformed in your body when you project non-bodily issues onto it. If it seems so, it is something you envision mentally.

Please be aware this metaphor is made within the reality of duality. In non-duality, there is nothing tangible or intangible because there is no division. However, appearing in a world of duality, you must live by it to leave it. Fortunately, that is effortless because you move by the dice like in a board game. When the meaning you assign to the result is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ you see your response is twofold, wherefore you are living by duality, thus able to leave it. See hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The differentiation between physical and non-physical matters occurs naturally when you are the basic self. It relates to the stream of thoughts coming from the brain as it is and not as it should be per a body-mind philosophy. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The special self does not feel its body because, in the psychological zone, it sees the body as a means to hide or enhance thoughts and feelings. Of course, this mistake, generally diagnosed as a psychosomatic issue, make the special self foggy. However, it blames the body, thus making the imagined blend of physical and non-physical issues appear real. Then it approaches the presumed problem by trying to alter the body per ideas of yoga or other non-physical concepts. Waiting for the transformation such philosophies promise, the special self ignores the happiness the brain continuously injects into the body. Hence, the body remains a source of misery for the special self.

Should the special self accidentally discovers the brain’s love, it cannot help loving the whole world, thus having its idea of being superior dissolved by love, wherefore, it immediately dismisses the brain’s love as wrong. Read about the special self in Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

Feeling the brain’s love has nothing to do with being spiritual but being adjusted to the virtual world of duality. You cannot experience spirituality in any way as that takes more than one, and spirituality is that which is One. That is why neither tantra nor meditation is about spirituality but fencing it off. Read more about that here.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In the psychological sphere, you soon learn you are loved as you are because you are created by the brain, which loves everything it makes. Naturally, that makes the body relax. However, since it only understands material matters, relaxation is not caused by love but by you not projecting unwanted thoughts and feelings onto the body or using it to prove you are worthy. In other words, when you feel wanted, thus not projecting anything onto the body, it does not have to defend itself, wherefore it relaxes.

‘I know what it is’ vs ‘it is what it is’ vs ‘dunno what it is’

Updated July 10, 2023

Suppose you think you are on top of it and know where to go. In that case, try to imagine you do not know. Then feel which of the approaches makes life adventurous. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius’ Duality Hacks in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from reading Duality Hack #5 The worry-free life of the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the brain’s script is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ your dark feelings are not excluded but included. Therefore this perception is not a way to the dullness of detachment but the vitality of involvement. Besides, it is very close to the nothingness from where the brain scripts its story of duality. Not as close, though, as the perception’ dunno what it is’ because it exposes all experiences are nothing.

That is why you get the bliss of nothing from perceiving your reaction to an experience as ‘dunno what it is,’ whereas you get the sadness of something specific from ‘I know what it is’ and the fullness of duality from ‘it is what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self and the special one are bound to follow the GPS coordinates from the brain without making side trips. They do not have the power to change the journey – only how to perceive it. Their perception of that, though, is different. The basic self perceives everything as ‘it is what it is,’ and the special one as ‘I know what it is.’

That is why it is easy for the basic self to be someone and very hard for the special one. It has to make a special perception of each experience, establishing that ‘I know what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the perception of the special self is built upon the perception ‘I know what it is,’ it rejects what would make it relax, namely the bliss of nothing, which comes from the perception ‘dunno what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When your reaction to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ there is nothing to escape. But when the perception is ‘I know what it is,’ you must avoid everything unknown to make it look like you are on top.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self does not want to perceive its response to itself as ‘it is what it is,’ but asI know what it isbecause the latter upholds the idea of being something specific, for example, beautiful. In contrast, the perception ‘it is what it is’ reveals tour response is twofold, thus not specifically beautiful but just as ugly. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

You do not feel stuck when perceiving your reaction to your experience as ‘it is what it is .’ Thus, there is no urge to escape or transform anything.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Perceiving everything as ‘it is what it is,’ every experience feels good enough.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It feels like something is missing when you perceive your reaction to an experience as ‘I know what it is’ because the perception is specific, thus suppressing its counterpart. But if your response to an incident is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ you feel complete because your reaction is revealed as twofold. However, the perception ‘dunno what it is’ does not result in a specific feeling or twofoldness. Thus you are in the bliss of nothing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is the counterpart of a feeling that defines it. For example, hate defines love and vice versa. That is why you must sense your hatred to feel love. But since the special self excludes the unpleasant part of a duality pair, it has no hatred to define feeling in love. Therefore, since it does not know what love is, it reckons it feels love when it meets somebody whose psyche or body complies with its ideas of perfection.

Fortunately, this mistake is easily corrected by perceiving the assumed feeling of love as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals love is coupled with hate and constantly interacting to define each other. Going with this twofoldness, you have a genuine feeling of love regardless of whether expectations are met.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Only the brain can make you feel good enough because nobody else knows what you are. And you do not have to get its approval because it loves you as you are. However, you do not feel that if you go against the brain. Fortunately, all you need to correct your mistake is to perceive your reaction to the experience the brain processes as ‘it is what it is’. Actually, you do not even have to do that. If you do not interfere with the brain’s workings, it automatically makes this perception.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

What do the expressions of Alexius’ cat, Wincent, mean? Alexius cannot know, but if he reckons that he does, he gets stressed from trying to make it true. But, on the other hand, if he perceives his reaction to Wincent as’ it is what it is,’ there is nothing to prove and thus no stress. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius’ cat, Wincent, has had the same routine for many years. First, Wincent leaves the house early in the morning and returns when Alexius is still in bed. Then Wincent greets Alexius, lays down next to him, and waits for him to get out of bed so he can prepare Wincent’s food. At least, that is the obvious conclusion because as soon as Alexius gets out of bed, Wincent runs to the kitchen, where he, with big eyes, sits and waits for Alexius to give him food.

If Alexius believes he knows what is happening, he goes from the perception of the basic self, ‘it is what it is,’ to the perception of the special self, ‘I know what it is.’ Thus Alexius stressfully thinks about feeding his beloved cat to establish he is in the know. But Wincent does not get his food any sooner than if Alexius had remained the basic self and perceived his reaction to Wincent’s behaviour as ‘it is what it is’ because the brain’s script runs its course, no matter how it is perceived. Therefore the only difference between being the basic or special self is that the former feels relaxed when feeding Wincent and the latter very stressed.

In other words, life is effortless when you are the basic self but stressful as the special one because you use a lot of energy to fool yourself into believing you are in charge.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the perception of your response to an experience is ‘I know what it is,’ you feel important but also exhausted because it requires much manipulation to look like you are in the know. That is why the special self always needs more energy, contrary to the basic self, which feels fine regardless of being energetic because it has nothing to live up to.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The brain uses five per cent of its capacity to shape the conscious experience of a self. But much more space is needed to establish the experience of the self as real. Therefore, a bigger part of the brain is used to make an exciting story about the self that seems to have been caused by the experiences the brain creates of a dualistic world outside it. The brain expects that your reaction to this fantasy of duality is twofold. But most people react to it through singled-out memories, feelings and imaginations to establish themselves as someone independent of duality, thus of the brain. That is why they feel disconnected.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you always perceive your reaction to something as ‘it is what it is,’ you do not try to prevent the brain’s script from unfolding as outlined. Hence the Enlightenment of that which is One is close at hand. Not because your story built up to it. But when it is what it is,  nothing specific seems to block the Enlightenment of that which is One. Read more about that in Duality Hack #11 Going without distance to non-duality. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Practically speaking, you are always in sync with the brain. You cannot choose not to follow its script of duality. But you can choose to think you follow a better way. However, the brain does not give a damn. Its script continues as planned, so nothing has changed other than you feel disconnected.

In other words, being in sync with the brain’s script of duality is not a matter of waiting for things to happen, according to the manuscript. They always do. Instead, it is a matter of perceiving your reaction to what happens as ‘it is what it is.’ By doing that, you see your response is not singular but twofold. Thus you are in sync with the script of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When your reaction to something in the body is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ the response is not experienced as singular because, for a moment, it is replaced by a distinct experience of its counterpart. The two opposing feelings start interacting hereafter, so you are revitalised by the duality flow.

But your feeling remains singular when you perceive what you feel in the body as ‘I know what it is’ to uphold a particular point of view. Thus you are in the misery of believing to know something definitive.

If your reaction to something in the body is perceived as ‘dunno what it is,’ you are not in the misery of believing to know something definitive because you do not know of a body that feels something. Consequently, you are in a state of not knowing, which is the bliss of nothing. Read more about a state of not knowing here.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Roughly speaking, the perception of the special self always assumes, ‘I know what it is.’ In contrast, the basic self sticks to the brain-generated perception of ‘it is what it is.’ The non-self says, ‘dunno what it is.’ Therefore, since it does not perceive the apparent differences in the experiences produced by the brain to make a difference, it is in a state of not-knowing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self constructs a perception of every experience, so it does not seem to endanger its default assumption, ‘I know what it is.’ Hence it can go on believing it masters its life, even though it does not even know what it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You feel happy when your reaction to the experiences the brain makes is perceived as ‘it is what it is’ because that reveals they are twofold. Hence you are in sync with the brain’s script of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Feeling bad does not indicate you should do something else because you have no say in what happens – only how to perceive it. If your perception is ‘it is what it is,’ the bad feeling is complemented by a good one. Therefore, since they, as a team, define each other, you also feel good when feeling bad and vice versa. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Since making a specific perception takes a long time, it is often delayed, thus out of sync with the present moment. Therefore, the frustration it entails only worsens if you try to solve it using more time to process your experience. In contrast, using the brain’s default perception, ‘it is what it is,’ you are in sync with the present moment. Hence everything feels good.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The stories the special self makes about its greatness are not always consistent. Thus it often feels disorganised and wishes to be like those it perceives as organised. On the other hand, the basic self does not need to be anything other than in sync with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain by perceiving its reaction to it as ‘it is what it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self does not assume that something will happen a specific way because every response to something is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ Therefore, getting old and unable to do what it used to is as much a loss as a gain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When every feeling is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’ no emotion seems scary because they are all part of the duality flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Perceiving a movie as cheap because it uses furniture from Ikea, you are probably out of sync with the plot. Hence the movie does not seem as entertaining as when your perception is synced with the story. However, this does not mean you must do something about your condemnation of Ikea to get in sync with the movie’s script.

All you need is to perceive your reaction to the furniture from Ikea as ‘it is what it is.’ When you do that, your response is revealed as twofold, wherefore, there is no specific reaction to prevent you from being in sync. Hence both the script and your misperception of it seem enjoyable. Likewise, when you perceive your response to the brain’s manuscript as ‘it is what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Nobody, nor Alexius, is solely the basic self. The special self will exploit the innocence of the basic self. Fortunately, appearing special is not a problem for the basic self because it perceives its reaction to everything as ‘it is what it is.’ Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When you perceive yourself as a victim of others, you are out of sync with the brain’s script because nobody causes anything but the brain, regardless it appears physical or immaterial. And everything the brain produces is out of love for everyone. Fortunately, all that is needed to correct feeling victimised is to perceive it as ‘it is what it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Triumph and disaster are not perceived as equally entertaining by the special self. Yet, that is what they are if one is perceived as ‘it is what it is’ because it reveals no triumph without disaster and vice versa.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Many try to solve the feeling of not being appreciated by finding somebody special to admire them. But maybe most try to make the feeling disappear by judging others as wrong. However, none of these methods works because feeling unwanted comes from how you assume the world should respond to you and not how it does.

The root of this misperception can be found by walking down memory lane. But it probably takes a long time, and you may miss it. Fortunately, the misperception can be corrected immediately by perceiving feeling unimportant as ‘it is what it is.’ Since that takes the distinctness out of the feeling, it does not have a specific effect on you. Therefore, the next time you, by reflex, create an attitude to disguise feeling worthless, you laugh because ‘it is what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A straightforward way to correct your response to yourself is to perceive it as ‘it is what it is.’ That reveals it is twofold. So if your single-minded reaction is that you are wrong, you see it as interacting with being right. Therefore, since you are in the duality flow, you are not defined as someone specific, nor are those you felt you had to please. Hence they, as well as you, are seen as good enough.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If memories from your childhood are the basis for your perception of a movie you watch as a grown-up, you are out of sync with its plot. Hence it seems frustrating rather than entertaining. Fortunately, this is corrected immediately if you perceive the plot, or your judgment of it, as ‘it is what it is.’

This perception makes the plot amusing no matter how it evolves because you are in sync with it as it is and not as you think it should be. Likewise, when the brain’s script is perceived as ‘it is what it is.’

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the brain’s script contains every possible experience, you are the past, the future and everything else conceivable when synced with the brain. But you are not the formlessness of oneness because it cannot be experienced. Thus all you need to cross the apparent barrier to oneness is not to experience anything.

Special and important, or basic and humble

Updated July 2, 2023

The special self wants to make selected ones feel unique, so they depend on it to be appreciated. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The special self is always worried about the future, whereas the basic self lives in joyful ignorance of the next moment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is much cheaper to be the basic self than the revised and more special version because the basic self does not have to buy something extraordinary to feel special.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The approach of the basic self can be compared to buying an album and listening to it in the way the artist has put it together, whereas the special self prefers to stream the album to exclude the tracks that do not enhance its special image.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is always about returning to the way it was for the special self. But not for the basic self. It does not remember how it was. Actually, neither does the special self. It is the story it has composed about the past that it wants to manifest in the present, so it seems everything always has been like it assumes it should be.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self wants to compare everything new with something old so that the present seems conditioned by the past, which it has edited to look like it was caused by itself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In the past, the special self made a hateful story as the basis for its perception of the present to confirm its judgment of others as evil. And since the past, therefore, appears to repeat itself, the special self can rest assured in its perception of itself as good and others as bad.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When a ball comes towards you, it is an automatic reflex to respond to it. Automatically following such reflexes is natural and invokes how easy it is to be the basic self. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Sometimes a doctor checks the function of a body by knocking on special points to see if the involuntary movements work. However, everything considered voluntary is also an automatic movement governed by the brain. Therefore, if you believe in being in charge of yourself, you have suppressed your reaction to everything that does not fit this belief. Therefore, since that requires much effort and it is effortless serving the brain, being a servant makes you feel free and happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being the special self is not about what you do but how to perceive it to appear in charge. For example, you see yourself as the master of the remote control, your coffee machine, children or pets. And if your boss puts you down, you still see yourself on top, thinking you could do it much better.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To escape its self-hatred, the special self manipulates others into admiring it. If not succeeding, the special self considers letting go of something to reestablishes its control.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Believing you are in control, you are under enormous pressure to constantly compose stories where you, not the brain, are in charge.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self assumes happiness comes from being in control. Therefore, if something does not happen as planned, it upholds the idea of being in control by thinking it changed its mind.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Extraordinary experiences, such as glimpses of the Enlightenment of that which is One, seem to be at a premium for the special self. Yet, it seldom experiences anything but the ordinary because, to prevent its special image from cracking, it fences off unfamiliar experiences.

If something uncontrollable, like glimpses of Enlightenment, should enter its controlled world, the special self ignores it, wait for it to be over, suppress its memories, and resume life as it used to.

You can read about how to have glimpses of Enlightenment in The four aspects of Enlightenment and how to sample them.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To prevent the image of the special self from cracking, it is crucial not to feel one’s emotions. Therefore, since the special self suppresses them, it becomes so numb that it cannot feel anything. Instead, it invents stories about feelings that fit its self-perception. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The special self enjoys talking about feelings speculatively, »like do I really love this person?« But it does not love anybody. It avoids feelings of intimacy by being with people speaking about a higher state of mind, thus being able to uphold its perception of being the master.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since feelings tend to mess up the perception that the special self has made of itself as an independent and unique being, it wants to keep them at a distance. But as this collides with its need to show off as an open person, it lays the blame for fencing off its feelings on others, which it criticises for being closed, thus making it impossible for the special self to express its feelings.

Although the real reason for not expressing feelings is that the special self does not know them, it shows off as an emotional expert who can help others open up to themselves. However, what the special self claims to see are its suppressed feelings (read more about that here).

On the other hand, the basic self has no special image to protect, thus, no feelings to hide.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self uses much energy to suppress the thoughts and feelings judged as unfavourable to preserve what it believes in being or becoming when it lives in the now, comes from the heart, or whatnot. On the other hand, the basic self has no desire to appear definitive, thus no need to judge something as wrong.

Besides, it knows negativity is just as crucial as positivity. For example, an electric wire needs the negative pole as much as the positive one to make the energy required to publish this article online.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Your suppressed thought and feeling are easily found. What you do not like in a dream is what you suppress, as everything in a dream is part of you. Likewise, what you experience with open eyes because the world is in the eye of the beholder.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self preserves its friendly image by imagining all its nasty psychological issues hidden behind physical problems. To prevent them from surfacing and exposing its peaceful image as fake, the special self never relaxes except through structured systems like Tai Chi. On the other hand, the basic self has no special image to uphold. Hence relaxing comes naturally.

That does not mean the basic self never explodes in anger. But, contrary to the special self, it does not see it as wrong. Therefore, since it never hides its rage or any other emotion from itself but perceives its reaction to them as ‘it is what it is,’ it has nothing to conceal.

That said, nobody is perfect, so there may have been times when the basic self forgot to perceive its reaction to something as ‘it is what it is.’ Fortunately, it is never too late to perceive a past response as ‘it is what it is.’ Thus having it revealed not to be definitive but twofold, there is no specific feeling to avoid.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self needs to convince at least one person about how crucial it is, which it achieves by smothering someone with the kind of attention it senses, that is required to make that person feel chosen. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The more the special self can convince others that it can improve the world, the more powerful it feels, thus hiding feeling inferior.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If the self-centred purpose of the special self is exposed, it will either deny it or say it is sorry and then go on precisely as before.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the special self perceives to fail, it takes on being secondary. Thus the failure does not seem to have been caused by itself but by somebody else.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If the special self discovers that others have interpreted something it did as wrong, it avoids feeling guilty by shouting, »Look what you made me do.«

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self always finds something about others that it judges wrong. Hence they become the imperfect background for its perfection.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self likes to meet new people. However, not to get to know them but to answer their questions. That is a perfect opportunity to re-edit the story it has fabricated about itself to appear exciting.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self needs to be part of something extraordinary, not to feel inferior. Thus it checks all notifications on Facebook and makes sure to like what its friends write so that it will like it and be liked by them, and they are confirmed to be together in a group of extraordinary people. But, of course, it only works if you believe something exists in cyberspace.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self needs constant approval from others to feel alive. To get that, it often establishes a family, which it can manipulate into giving it the confirmation it needs. If that does not work as intended, the special self may pay a psychologist to ratify its uniqueness. But it does not realise how dependent it is on those supporting its perception of being independent.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the special self sees the woman in this image, it probably makes a perception that hides what it actually feels, so the experience is perceived to be consistent with the image it has constructed of itself. On the other hand, the basic self has nothing to live up to, thus, nothing to hide. So it relates to the image as it is: a woman without clothes in the middle of a forest. If that is felt disgusting or stimulating does not matter because ‘it is what it is.’ Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The notion of yourself as special is based on how you perceive to affect others and how you imagine they react. Thus you constantly adjust your perception of their responses, so it seems to confirm they see you as unique.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The English language suits the special self because it is built upon the ‘I’ as primary and others as secondary. So you do not talk with others but to them. And when you speak about friends and yourself, you always start by mentioning yourself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It takes time and effort to invent a spiritual self from which selected elements are eliminated or changed to appear absent of power strivings, selfishness, greed, anger, negative thoughts or whatever you assume is politically incorrect. But being so correct feels restricted, whereas you feel free when not altering or rejecting something in your perception to shape your image into something specific.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being on your own makes you feel small, which the special self expects to fix by getting the power it imagines comes from riches, going deeper or realising something higher.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If one of the special self’s perceptions is exposed as fake, the special self diverts the focus from itself by making up a new perception in which it is unjustly attacked.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self likes to be together with others, but on one condition, namely that others accept its perception of things shapes their relationship.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

For the special self, it is always about becoming better and bigger. So disguised as a do-gooder, it sends love and healing to someone it judges to have less than itself. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

If you are instructed to go to jail in a game, you must do it if you want to go on. Likewise, in the brain’s game of duality, you get unchangeable instructions from the brain.

If the basic self is asked to go to jail, it does so without asking why because it trusts the brain’s script. But the special think the brain’s ways are unfair, so it insists on a better way. To hide, it is unable to change anything, the special self claims it has been framed and will make the guilty pay for the unjust, thus deceiving itself into believing it is in control.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

For the special self, everything is about itself, so when a relative has been injured in a traffic accident, the typical response is, »How could you do it to me.«

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self wants to be free of the brain, but the only one oppressing it is itself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self splits up its perception of others per its concepts of right and wrong and then expects them to hide or correct what it has labelled as wrong so it does not have to question itself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Whether you have convinced yourself to indulge in or refrain from sex, the purpose is to enhance being unique.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self hates being told what to do. So if it seems avoidable, it makes up a story in which it is detached from what happens, wherefore it is not taking orders but going with the flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If one has a personality of a faultfinder, the special self sees it as a mistake that needs to be corrected. Thus, every new mistake it finds disappoints, whereas the basic self is happy because finding errors fulfils its function.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Undoing the belief in being someone special is like stepping into the unknown. And since life cannot be known, you find it there. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

By stating »we are all one,« the special self thinks it expresses non-duality. But since separation is the foundation of this statement, it upholds duality as real.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Should you have conditioned yourself to feel relaxed when you hear a specific kind of music, you find yourself in a story where you know you are supposed to feel relaxed every time you hear this music. In other words, what you believe in feeling is a product of your story. And as most of what you believe in feeling rests on stories, you are hardly ever in touch with your emotions but how you have conditioned yourself to respond to something. That suits the special self very well. It does not want to experience genuine feelings but how it is supposed to feel them when being what it imagines.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Adverse events are unavoidable. However, you can refrain from perceiving them like that, thus preventing them from making you suffer. That naturally occurs for the basic self. Therefore it has no need for special events to make it happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is not what happens but what you make out of it that makes you sad. In other words, suffering is your choice.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A cat does not plan to do Pilates at a specific hour but naturally stretches out when its biological system tells it to do so. Nor does it attend special seminars to learn who it is or how to be transformed into something else. There is no desire to be anything but a cat. Likewise, being a basic self is good enough.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self is about survival, whereas the basic self is about serving.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the special self is an imaginary self constructed by subtracting what it does not like in itself, it always feels incomplete, hence looking for something it can add to feel complete.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot escape the hell of the self-discipline required to uphold the perception of being special if you are afraid of losing something, which you are, as long as you believe to be and have something special.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The problems you perceive to have, do not come from the world where you appear to be but from the belief that you are there. Therefore, the solution to all problems is the same: to undo that belief.

Making a special self

Updated April 7, 2023

The multiplication of thoughts required to construct an image of you as an independent entails stress, thus, a tired body. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

THE ROGUE CONSCIOUSNESS MAKES A SPECIAL SELF
When not suppressing feelings by holding back the breath or altering its natural rhythm via yoga, for example, you are effortlessly synced with the brain’s script, thus being the basic self. And since very few thoughts are required to maintain this synchronisation, they do not seem disturbing but encouraging.

That is, until the consciousness, the brain has installed in the basic self to be aware of itself, decides it knows better than its maker, and plots to change the basic self into a special one. However, shaping and maintaining a special self requires a more complicated construction of thoughts than the simple one accumulated by the brain to create and uphold the basic self.

Hence the rogue consciousness perceives one of the brain’s experiences to be so scary that fear makes you hold your breath long enough for thoughts to be imprisoned in the gap, from where they force their way out by multiplying themselves. Having escaped, they continue their frantic multiplication, which pleases the rogue consciousness because it needs lots of thoughts to make a special self come into being, appearing independent of the brain.

But in a world of duality, all thoughts come in pairs of opposing elements to define each other, for example, right and wrong. Therefore, since you cannot have one without the other, you are never solely right or wrong. However, the rogue consciousness does not want the elements in the duality pairs to collaborate because it wants to set up a self that is solely good without traces of evil, and you can decide only to feel love for someone and hate for another, for example.

To disconnect the opposing sides in the duality pairs into distinct elements, the rogue consciousness first imagines a judge determining which emotions are distinctively good and evil. Then, an executioner punishes the bad feelings by excluding them from the new self. Thus it looks only good, having that feeling of being special.

When not interfering with the few thoughts, the brain keeps circulating for you to have a continuous experience of being a basic self, it feels entertaining. But it feels frustrating if you make a perception of the basic self that twists it into something more special. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

But when good and evil are separated, they cannot define each other, as when collaborating in a duality pair. Hence you do not get a genuine but conceptualised experience of good and evil. Nevertheless, that suits the rogue consciousness because, with emotions cut off, the special self can mentally decide what good and evil feel like, thus being the master.

You cling to a thought-up version of emotions. And since you believe your single-minded notions are real, you clash with the world of duality pairs.

However, it is hard to constantly suppress genuine feelings to experience good and bad in a thought-up way – or twist experiences into a collectively agreed concept of having a good time. Besides, the suppressed emotions mess up the natural flow of the breath, thus the stream of thoughts used to keep the body healthy, wherefore the body seems inflicted with psychosomatic illnesses. So although the special self probably appears as good as planned, it does not genuinely feel good.

What you believe in being is a construction of thoughts compiled by the brain into pairs of contrasting elements. You do not want to separate them when in sync with their ongoing interaction because it makes you feel complete.

On the other hand, the basic self feels fulfilled regardless of appearance because it does not break up the duality pairs but goes with the interaction of their opposing elements. It does not mean the basic self is perfect but feels complete in the duality flow. Read about that in Duality Hack #8 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

You get into the duality flow by perceiving your single-minded idea of, for example, good or evil as ‘it is what it is’. That reveals your rigid view is twofold, wherefore goodness is in evil and vice versa (read more about that in Duality Hack #6 Happiness is to be in touch with the brain). But instead of accepting that, you probably accuse the brain of messing up good things. However, since you are a product of the brain (read more about that here), your disapproval is a condemnation of yourself.

If the brain wants you to run, it uses the biological system to signal it to the body, which starts running regardless you are a basic or special self. The basic self, as always, feels entertained by following the brain’s commands. In contrast, the special self loathes the brain and its simple ideas of entertainment and thinks it knows better, even though it does not know who it is. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

BASIC VS SPECIAL
When the consciousness of the basic self goes rogue, it responds like a spell checker to the calm stream of thoughts coming from the brain, automatically interpreting it to make the self, which initially was made and administered by the brain, appear self-made and independent of the brain.

But since the rogue consciousness interpretations of the stream of thoughts are single-minded, thus out of sync with duality, thoughts run wild. At first, this seems scary to the basic self, but the rogue consciousness convinces it that it is for the best because now it has endless possibilities. Besides, the rogue consciousness promises that by being special, you are independent of the brain, thus able to arrange everything in your special way and pace. That often makes the basic self trust the rogue consciousness’ corrections, not knowing it must spend many years in school learning to label the modifications to act unique in predefined ways.

Both the basic and the special self is a construction of thoughts. But whereas the basic self is simple, the special self is a complicated construction made to sow discord by insisting on being better. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In other words, appearing independent and special is complicated and exhausting, whereas being basic is uncomplicated and vitalising. Therefore, if you want to have a good time while appearing as someone in a world of duality, use one or more of Alexius’ Duality Hacks to enter a state of not-knowing. It wipes the slate clean of all misperceptions, thus restoring the basic self. Since it is relative to the brain, it is in sync with its experiences as they are and not as they could be if you were a special self following a specific philosophy. See, The basic self is relative, thus without ego.

Strangers in the night

Updated June 25, 2023

The world is fabricated by bits and pieces, so some seem substantial. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In old scriptures, being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one is often compared to being in a world of darkness. Someone who is to be compared to the Enlightenment of that which is One knows this is so. The world we believe to see is a construction of thoughts added together to make it look like there is something where there is nothing. The below story illustrates this:

INVENTING TO SEE A WORLD IN THE DARK
There ar
e no streetlights outside Alexius’ home, so when he wakes up in the middle of the night, his home is dark.

Nevertheless, it is easy for Alexius to find the way to the toilet in the dark. He has learned where everything is and can use certain things as navigation points so that they seem to ‘light’ up the way. But it is all imagined and put together by trial and error. Actually, he stumbled quite a few times, learning to ‘see’ his way in the dark.

But he cannot ‘see’ anything other than the way he has thought up. Maybe he can learn ‘seeing’ beyond that if he studies. But what he learns to ‘see’ will be another fabrication because the whole house is dark.

The way from Alexius’ bed to the toilet can be compared to everybody’s way in a world where there seems to be more than one. You believe in seeing something specific, then something interpreted as different, wherefore you assume you know where you go. But you move in the dark. Whatever you believe in seeing is a construction of thought you have learned to define in a specific way (read more about that here). Without this knowledge, there is nothing to see. Neither is there anything hidden or something to be understood except that everything you believe in seeing is make-believe (read more about that here).

WHAT IS FABRICATED DOES NOT EXIST
When you do not care to find a way through the darkness, what you have learned to see disappears – also darkness because the Enlightenment of that which is One set in. It is not a light that can be compared to the sun or similar artificial sources that lights up something. There is nothing to light up because there is no more than that which is One, and it takes more than one to be aware of something.

THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF THAT WHICH IS ONE
You can compare the Enlightenment of that which is One to making a video call on your computer to it. There is so much light on the screen that you cannot see it or anything else until the call is over, and the screen again simulates a world where there seems to be more than one. However, now you know it is a fake, so you know appearing to be there is make-believe. Thus you do not feel victimised by the world but have fun pretending to be someone there.
