Pretending to be someone definitive is such a relief

On vacation in a foreign country, you appear different because you pretend to be a tourist exploring another world. Likewise, what you seem to be in a world defined by time and space is not that which is you but something you pretend to be. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

When an electric bulb breaks down, it cannot use the electricity coming from the power station to illuminate a world outside itself. This feels like death if the bulb is identified with its function to light up something. However, nothing is dead if the bulb does not believe that it is its appearance but pretends to be that because of what it pretends to be, it is not. It is the electricity that always was and will be and momentarily made it possible to pretend to be a lamp. Read more about electricity as a metaphor for life here.

Likewise, you do not last if you believe to be someone definitive in a world defined by time and space. But if it is something you pretend, you remain as that which is you, namely formless, thus endless.

This is like pretending to be someone in roleplay. However, in a world defined by time and space, you must be used to pretending to be someone definitive before your role is over. Otherwise, you will try to hang onto that role when you feel it is about to finish.

So when – in the context of the bulb metaphor – a bulb cannot illuminate something anymore, it is forever dead if identified with the ability to make light. But if it acknowledges that it is not what it can do but that which makes it possible to do it, it remains as electricity.

Although electricity makes it possible to experience this article on electronic media, it is not in the article. Likewise, there is no life in a world defined by time and space, although life is what makes it possible to fantasise about not being formless but definitive.

This does not mean the bulb knows electricity because it is not in the world that the bulb illuminates. But it means that it does not define itself as a bulb. Hence it is not the end when the bulb ends and cannot pretend to be something in a world outside of itself anymore.

Whether you perceive yourself as mundane or spiritual, you cannot return to the formlessness of that which is you because it has no room for someone definitive. But, on the other hand, if you pretend to be mundane or spiritual, you do not need to return to the formlessness of that which is you because what you pretend to be, you are not.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Now you as an entity defined by time and space falls apart.

When the body stops functioning, you fall apart as someone definitive. If you do not fight it, what you believe in being is exposed as nothing. Thus there does not appear to be something hiding, there never was or will be anything but the formlessness of that which is you. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

What you appear to think, feel, and act when you believe to be someone definitive in a world defined by time and space is the same when you pretend that, except politically incorrect feelings are not condemned. This is because when you pretend to feel something, the apparent difference between good and bad is not perceived to make a difference.

However, when you are finished pretending to be someone definitive in a world defined by time and space, you do not return to the formlessness of that which is you because it is endless, so you never left it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you do not believe in being someone in a world defined by time and space, the absurdity of it becomes a comedy in which you have fun pretending to care.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

All that you can find in a world defined by time and space is what you are not, namely definitive. You discover this when pretending to be someone in such a world.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Just like the recording on a protected compact disc cannot be replaced with a new one, the formlessness of that which is you cannot be replaced with someone definitive. Not because that which is you is protected, but because it is formless, so there is no more.

Therefore, you deceive yourself if you believe to be someone definitive. No worries. This deception is easily corrected if you pretend to be it because what you pretend to be, you are not

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To uphold the belief in being someone definitive, you do anything to feel touched by something specific because that seems to establish your belief as real.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Scientists have not discovered the origin of the world because there is none. It does not exist. That is why they cannot find dark matter, which they claim is the missing link in proving the world’s existence. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Nobody can touch you in a video game, no matter how good the graphics are. So if you feel affected by it, it does not come from the game but from yourself. Therefore, since everything you feel is caused by your projection, the world is in the eye of the beholder.

Forgetting this and seeing virtual reality as real, the fastest way to correct this, so the illusion does not seem to hide the real world, is to turn the game off. However, what is perceived as the real world is just as virtual as the world in a video game. So, if you want to correct this without fearing its end, you pretend to be someone there. The more you do that, the less you are where you appear to be because where you pretend to be, you are not.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Interaction is the name of the game if a virtual world is to appear authentic. But since the communication is founded on what you imagine others think, you interact with a fantasy made by you, and since what you believe to be is based on this, you are a fantasy as well. In other words, what you appear to be is make-believe – like Santa Claus, for example.

You stopped believing the adventure of Santa Claus when you grew up, but you still think you are someone in a world defined by time and space, although that which is you is formless. Fortunately, when you pretend to be someone definitive instead of believing it, you have fun appearing to be someone definitive because what you pretend to be, you are not.

Having fun being nobody, there is no need to be confirmed by others as genuine. Thus you can enjoy all the illusions of a world defined by time and space.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The belief that you are someone definitive who experiences something specific seems to hide that there is nothing but the formlessness of oneness. This belief, however, corrects itself the more you pretend to be someone definitive because that confirms you are nobody.

Fortunately, this is already so. What you appear to be is empty space. This is why nothing about your appearance in a world defined by time and space needs to be changed or transformed. On the contrary, changes enhance the belief that you are someone definitive.

Thus undoing this belief is not about opening up or surrendering to a higher power but being nobody, which you are when you pretend to be somebody because what you pretend to be, you are not.

Metaphorically speaking, the universe is a shadow of oneness. But since there is no life in a shadow, the only way to appear to be there is to pretend it. So if you feel bad about something, remember that where you appear to be is a shadow, so what you feel does not mean anything because there is nothing in a shadow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As already said, the world can be compared to a shadow. Since a shadow cannot give you anything, whatever you believe in getting from the world is imagined.

From this follows, you choose what you imagine to get. And what you lose is nothing. So why not give it your best shot and have fun pretending to be a physical being? You have nothing to lose.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Perceiving your experiences as nothing instead of something, they are revealed as lifeless.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In a virtual world, you cannot realise that which is real. But you can realise that being someone there is a fantasy. Doing so, you are free to pretend what to be and enjoy the experiences this seems to entail.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you – in the context of the world – play a game like Monopoly, you are not in the car. It is something you pretend to be. Likewise, you pretend to be in a body in a world defined by time and space.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you revolt against your parents, the perception of yourself is founded on how you see them. Therefore, since you become an anti-version of them, you and your parents are two sides of the same coin. The same applies to being detached from the world. It is based on what you think you are removed from.

Likewise, you are still part of the world when you try to escape its ways. That is until you stop believing your experiences prove you are there. If you pretend to be there, you are not part of the world because where you pretend to be, you are not. Just like, within the context of such a world, you are not someone in a computer game. It is something you pretend.

When you pretend to be someone, being rejected seems to be another joke in the comedy The World. Even though you may react the same way as someone, who perceives the show as real, you do not take it seriously.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

»When I was little, I thought the moon was following me when I was in the car.« From teenager Post #11156 (from the internet):

As a grown-up, we know such an experience is incorrect, so we automatically correct this and similar experiences, like a street getting narrower at the end, or the world looks flat. However, if we have not become accustomed to correcting these deceptive experiences, we cannot navigate a world defined by time and space.

But in the above teenage post, there is another experience that needs to be corrected. There is no ‘I’ which sees something. It is an experience constructed by the brain to make you feel that what you believe in being is real. To correct this belief, you pretend to be someone.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Pretending to be a child when you are grown up is much more fun than believing to be one.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You can have as many friends as you want because having them or not is something you pretend.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When we sit down to watch a movie, we allow ourselves to be deceived so that its world is experienced as real. But we know it is not so. We just pretend it is real. That is what we have forgotten in the movie called The World.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Should your diet not go as planned, and you feel sad and frustrated, you can solve it by pretending to be someone with a problem. Since what you pretend to be, you are not, nobody is worried.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Pretending to be a person, who serves others can be fun.

Pretending to be someone definitive who serves others in a restaurant can be fun. When it is over, you are free to go home and pretend to be lazy. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Not believing but pretending to be someone, your conditioned behaviour for how you must react falls apart. Thus you are free to enjoy the moment as it is instead of compulsively shaping it per your belief.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If there are specific characteristics of others you dislike, you can remind yourself that it is something you pretend. Should you feel it is wrong to complain, you also remind yourself it is pretence. Hence it does not feel bad but good to judge others.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you meet someone you are attracted to, it is common to analyse the perceived external interaction, so you can build a personality that the other person will love. But since you fear the other one will see through this masquerade and recognise you are not loveable, you built something into your new character that you reckon the other one cannot live without. Hence you both become dependent on each other: You for being seen as outstanding and the other for getting something unique from you.

Fortunately, this self-made prison is easily escaped. All you need to be free is to acknowledge that your new personality is pretence.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

What you pretend to be, depends on what you imagine is expected from you and what you believe is in it for you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As long as you do not try to conceal specific feelings to preserve your appearance as someone definitive, no feelings seem to have the power to hide, it is fun pretending to be someone specific because what you pretend to be, you are not.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you are black-haired, you cannot choose to be blond. But you can pretend it, thus feeling light-haired.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You can compare linear time to the square pixels that makes up one dot on a computer screen being separated from each other and extended into a lines forming a spiral.

You can compare linear time to the square pixels that make up one round dot on a computer screen. When the square pixels are separated from each other and extended into a line forming a spiral, it seems the round dot no longer is one perpetual present but a line of time. Fortunately, separating the square pixels making up the round dot is impossible because there is no separation in one perpetual present. Thus it is not a matter of returning to oneness but stopping imagining something in the past, now and future. In other words, without the belief in linear time, nothing seems to hide one perpetual present. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

That which is One can be compared to a dot on a computer screen, where there is nothing but that. It consists of innumerable amounts of square pixels so tightly together that they cannot be differentiated from each other. Thus they look like one point.

But if you extend this point by spreading out its small pixels in a continuous line, they can be differentiated from each other, thus perceived as separated appearances in space. The experience of time you get by making the line curved, like a spiral, so that from any point, it looks like there is an unknown future behind the next curve and a forgotten past behind the last one. Read more about that in Life is flat.

But since there is no separation in oneness, it is impossible to extend it into a world defined by time and space. However, when you believe in separation, it seems to take time to discover it is a fantasy that covers oneness. But you can speed up this discovery by pretending to be separated because what you pretend is not real. In this way, the belief in being apart is undone while having fun appearing to be someone definitive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being someone definitive is like Karaoke. You imagine you become someone specifically by replicating well-established concepts of imagined emotions through a song. But being a mother, father or anything else is also based on replicating collectively agreed-on concepts of how to be that. Therefore, since all appearances are pretence, and what you pretend to be, you are not, what and where you appear to be is a fantasy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you have nothing to live up to, you are free to pretend to be someone who lives up to the expectations of the world.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You cannot pretend to be that which is One because it is formless. But you can pretend to be someone definitive. Hence you are nothing because what you pretend to be, you are not. Consequently, something specific does not appear to hide the formlessness of oneness.
